    Hi from Jutland Denmark.. Our Ariya is coming March 2023.. I've been watching all your videos and they really help me be more and more happy with our descision. Thank you so much for your channel!.. Keep up the great work! (Keep rambling 🙂)

    I always find myself saying thank you, to you. Again, I love your detail and your experience as a driver of the Ariya relating to your findings of the car. In my mind, I feel your videos are the correct length, never enough to become boring, yet packed full of useful detail. Might I suggest, if it is possible, to do an actual drive where you could detail your feelings and thoughts, when placing the car under different conditions relating to road surfaces, different types of road conditions and speed etc. Thank you again for an excellent video.

      Thanks so much mate! Right now, I kinda lack the Equipment to properly film while driving, and tbh I don't want to get too much into the typical car reviewer thing, since all of this is so subjective. But I've been thinking about a more casual "talking while driving" format, maybe for the next update or so, and I'm sure I can comment on "this and that" while doing so, so I'll get there eventually :)

    Finally got my Ariya Evolve last Friday, I agree with what you say, it is simply stunning both inside and out.
    Kept my Leaf as well, couldn't bear to part with her!
    Will be taking my first long trip in my Ariya this Saturday, well around 260 miles to start with, can't wait.

    Apart from stronger regen a FWD platform also means weight savings in cables and cooling and a possibility of more space in the back. It's very obvious with the Megane E-tech for example. It has a 440L boot while the ID.3 has 385L boot despite being larger.

      Don't forget, car reviewers were kind of winging it with ICE cars anyways, and now with EVs, the vast majority of them simply has no clue whatsoever. Also, bashing stuff get's clicks and comments. I am not saying everybody is driven by that, but there certainly are some. All I can say is: it's good that you have your reservation - you won't regret it man! I am positive you will love this car!

    Hello,
    I'm in the process of buying an EV and I have short listed the Ariya and the Ioniq 5. I did a test drive with the Ariya and will do one with the Ioniq 5 in 3 days. Your video makes me lean towards the Ariay, all is it more expensive. Just one small remark, I read on the Belgian Huyndai website that they now have over-the-air-updates for the Ioniq 5 in Europe as well.
    g.

    • @nissanelectrified9583
      @nissanelectrified9583  2 роки тому +2

      They do, but it will brick your car for about an hour to do the update. Something Ariya does a LOT better.
      Also, the preconditioning Hyundai now offers for the battery is veeeery limited. It won't work at an SOC under 20% i.e., which is exactly when you would need it, so that's a total fail right there. You will also have to find and select the rapid charger you will be using in the built in sat nav for preconditioning to become active and must not abort that navigation. Preconditioning also only will be active if the charger is far enough away from your current position, so the battery can complete preheat BEFORE arriving the charger, otherwise it will skip it alltogether.
      It all sounds very weird, and certainly is cumbersome, but that actually is what the update splash screen says.
      My guess is, that the E-GMP platform simply doesn't feature any means to heat the liquid circuit that is used for cooling the battery, which is an odd choice indeed.
      There is a preheating method where you "virtually" divide the pack into two seperate packs and transfer charge back and forth, using the internal resistance to heat up the pack. They would have to revert to something like that to make preconditioning available without any hardware alterations.
      That would also explain, why there is a certain amount of charge needed to make this happen in the first place, and why the process has to be finished prior charging, since the cells need to be balanced again for a successfull charge. I am no expert on this by any means, but judging from the stuff I read in papers about Li-Ion batteries, this is the only explanation I found that makes sorta sense.
      What I am aiming for: Don't expect the Ioniq 5 to have "real" pre heat now. It looks like they did more of a field repair in that regard. The Ariya will very likely perform a lot more consistent in winter than the Ioniq 5. We have yet to see how Ariya fairs in sub zero conditions of course, but from the experiences I gathered so far in temperatures between 5 and 10°C, and the videos I found on the Ioniq5 charging in comparable situations, this is what we can deduct at least.

    • @marcelguldemond2523
      @marcelguldemond2523 Рік тому

      @@nissanelectrified9583 looking forward to seeing how the Ariya does in the winter. I also have the Ioniq5 and the Ariya on my shortlist. I took the ID4 off after seeing the clunky software bugs it has. The Ariya is quite a bit more expensive than the Ioniq5 in Canada though. However, Bjorn’s recent test shows that the Ariya charges at 90kw consistently even in cold weather, and if the Ariya is so quiet, I might be persuaded to spend extra on the Ariya in a couple of years.

    • @nissanelectrified9583
      @nissanelectrified9583  Рік тому

      @@marcelguldemond2523 Judging from the EGMP cars I meet on my road trips, they are horribly inconsistent in winter. The vast majority of them is limping around 40-50kW, some even lower. Had a talk with some of the drivers, and it seems even with the new update (as can be expected by the massive limitations it comes with) things are not good. At least over here, the EGMP cars seem to simply be missing a dedicated battery heating circuit, so they are relying on transfer heating (shuffling charge around the battery to heat it up). They are dead slow for a LONG time, then slowly ramp up, peaking at 170ish kW shortly and then are back to a dead slow crawl. The fastest Ioniq I wittnessed charging in cold temperatures (I am talking 4 to -4°C here, so by far no artic circumstances) still was only a bit over half as fast as manufactuer spec, around 40% slower. Compare that to Ariya, which will - judging from my experience (which is a LOT more sessions than Björn ever did) loose 5 minutes tops compared to sessions over 15°C - there just is no comparison there. Add to that the much larger pack, massive low end buffer and super good thermal insulation. All that makes Ariya a very reliable, consistent and safe winter vehicle. Full disclaimer: I have yet to charge Ariya sub -3°C (did one in -5°C with surface cooling taken into account though, you can check it out here -> ua-cam.com/video/fG_2Zacf3Ew/v-deo.html ). I will be adding more sub zero sessions as weather gets colder!

    Hallo. Es gibt ein paar Dinge die ich am Fahrzeug kritisieren möchte. Ihre Meinung dazu würde mich interessieren: 1. Wenn das Fahrzeug lädt und der Kofferraum geöffnet ist, lässt sich das Kabel erst ausstecken, wenn der Kofferraum geschlossen wird und das Fahrzeug wieder entriegelt wird (das ist ziemlich umständlich und bedienerunfreundlich). 2. Mit der Ladeplanung komme ich nicht zu recht: Nutze ich den automatischen Ladeassistenten, habe ich keine Kontrolle bei der (m. Mn. nach sinnvollen) Auswahl der Ladesäulen. Versuche ich selbst auf der vorgegebenen Route nach Ladesäulen zu suchen, gibt mir das Fahrzeug dazu keine Auswahlmöglichkeiten (nur „in der Nähe“ oder „am Zielort“ suchen). Bei Auswahl „in der Nähe“ werden mir zuerst (vollkommen unübersichtlich) Ladesäulen vorgeschlagen die teilweise Kilometerweit hinter mir oder weit neben der Route liegen, niemals (wie es sinnvoll wäre) direkt voraus, entlang der Route. 3. Zweimal hat das Fahrzeug plötzlich stark gebremst bzw. gefühlt extrem stark rekuperiert, obwohl keine Gefahrenbremsung notwendig war bzw. akustisch oder im Display erkennbar ausgelöst wurde -> ich habe Sorge, dass das mal plötzlich auf der Autobahn passiert und ich dadurch einen Unfall verursache. 5. Die Federung schlägt unangenehm hart, wenn ich über Kanaldeckel oder Schlaglöcher fahre (obwohl der Wagen ja jetzt nicht unbedingt straff abgestimmt fährt m. Mn. nach) 6. Die Routenplanung/Navi ist tlw. das dümmste was ich je gesehen habe: Nur „schnellste Route“ ist benutzbar, „Eco“ und „Kürzeste“ sind überhaupt nicht intelligent geplant und schicken einen teilweise über Feldwege und durch zig Dörfer um Strecke einzusparen (keine vernünftige Abwägung vom Verhältnis der Strecke zur Fahrtzeit). Mit Apple Karten bekomme ich viel sinnvollere Streckenalternativen übersichtlich dargestellt und mit einem Klick auswählbar. Ach ja: 7.: Warum kann ich Ladesäulen, die mir auf der Karte dargestellt werden nicht antippen und dadurch Informationen bekommen, bzw. diese mit einem Klick auswählen? Das ist für mich Navi-Software aus 2009! Ich freue mich auf eine Rückmeldung zu meinen Erlebnissen, vielleicht habe ich ja was übersehen oder einfach falsch gemacht. Viele Grüße (Nissan Aryia 63 kwh Advance Edition)

      Moin moin,
      zunächst: ich bin nicht Nissan, da wären die Fragen besser aufgehoben. -> www.nissan.de/kundenservice/kontakt.html
      Da gewünscht, dennoch meine Meinung zu den Fragen:
      1) Ja, das ist etwas, was ich ebenfalls nicht nachvollziehen kann. Der Leaf hatte eine extra Taste zum entriegeln des Steckers. Auch ohne Taste könnte man das (z.B. durch zwei mal Drücken der Öffnungstaste) einfach realisieren. Lässt sich sicher durch ein Update einrichten. Umso wichtiger, dass Nissan das von vielen Kunden als Feedback bekommt.
      2) Da ist Luft nach oben, sehe ich auch so, finden eigentlich alle. Am besten die Route in ABRP planen und dann in Google Maps übertragen. Habe ich ein Video zu gemacht. Siehe hier -> ua-cam.com/video/Zvds69QQ3Gw/v-deo.html
      Auch die Navigation von ABRP ist nach dem Relaunch der App (gab es zum Zeitpunkt meines Videos noch nicht) besser zu nutzen, allerdings kostenpflichtig.
      3) Kein System ist perfekt, der Mensch allerdings auch nicht. Da das Fahrzeug für dich relativ neu ist, ist eine Fehlbedienung nicht ganz auszuschließen. Die Art wie du den Fehler beschreibst legt das quasi nahe. Dass das Fahrzeug etwas "gesehen" hat, was es zum Bremsen animiert hat, sich dann aber als irrelevant herausstellte, kann auch sein. Das automatische Bremsen ist ja Teil des Pro Pilot Systems, dazu muss keine Gefahr vorhanden sein. Eventuell ist ein Fahrzeug vor das Auto gezogen, so dass der Abstand zu klein wurde o.Ä.? Ich würde sagen weiter beobachten, grundsätzlich denke ich aber "lieber einmal zu viel, als einmal zu wenig bremsen". Ich kann bei meinem Fahrzeug grundsätzlich kein abnormales Verhalten beobachten. Im Gegenteil. Der Ariya macht das besser als viele andere.
      4) Die fehlt bei dir irgendwie :)
      5) Kann ich nicht nachvollziehen.
      6) Kann ich ebenfalls nicht nachvollziehen. Das interne Navi ist für ein OEM Gerät so gut wie es nur geht. Wir sind auf unserer 3000Km Urlaubsfahrt oft mit internem Navi und Google Maps simultan gefahren und die Geräte waren sich sehr einig. Dass mal was daneben gehen kann ist halt so, das passiert Google Maps allerdings auch, und das stellt so ziemlich die Speerspitze der derzeitigen Navientwicklung dar.
      7) Das geht, und zwar exakt so. Irgendwas machst du falsch...oder du hast es aus versehen um Menü deaktiviert (oder dein Händler, who knows...). Probier es noch mal, falls es nach wie vor nicht geht melde dich, dann mach ich ein kurzes Video dazu!
      Ich hoffe, dir hiermit geholfen zu haben! Besten Gruß :)

P.S.: Mit dem Navi hab ich wirklich öfters Probleme: Lade- sowie Routenplanung ist hoffentlich bald besser. und ich werde Nissan tatsächlich mal schreiben und ABRP nutzen. danke für den Tipp.

    • @nissanelectrified9583
      @nissanelectrified9583  Рік тому +1

      Schreib's mal hin, aber wie gesagt, Nissan ist da ganz vorne mit dabei. Ich nehme mal an du bist über 60? Meine Eltern sind auch in einer Welt aufgewachsen in der Technik entweder funktionierte (bzw. wenn nicht war sie kaputt und konnte repariert werden) oder man machte es selber. Navis und andere moderne Geräte fahren da einen völlig anderen Kurs, es handelt sich da sprichwörtlich um Assistenzsysteme, deren Komplexität so groß ist, dass es für den Endnutzer nicht mehr nachvollziehbar ist warum wann was passiert. Die Zuverlässigkeit ist erstaunlich hoch, aber diese Geräte sind nicht unfehlbar, das geht mit der Komplexität und den massiven Variablen einher, mit denen dort gerechnet wird. Es kann gut sein, dass im Umkreis deines Wohnortes ein Kartenfehler existiert der verursacht, dass du den Eindruck hast, das Navi macht oft Mist. Oder es handelt sich - wie bei vielen der anderen Punkte auch, wie wir ja herausgefunden haben - um einen Bedienungsfehler bzw. ein Missverständnis ;)
      Dass dich die kürzeste Route über Stock und Stein führt ist z.B. völlig normal, das macht jedes Navi so. Es berechnet stumpf eben genau das, die kürzeste Route. Die macht selten Sinn. Die Eco-Route ist per Definition ein Kompromiss. Wie die Routen aussehen, bekommst du ja aber eh angezeigt, einfach mal einen Blick werfen und ggf. einen Wegpunkt setzen. Oder sonst eben selber navigieren, denn er immer besser weiß wo's lang geht braucht eh kein Navi ;)
      Aber um es noch einmal zu betonen: Nach weit über 30000Km kann ich dir sagen, dass dieses TomTom Navi absolut top ist. Besser wird's nicht. Und als jemand der gemeinsam mit der Frau jedes Jahr über 50000Km abreißt kann ich dir ebenfalls sagen, dass wir schon oft Navi-Ausweichrouten gefolgt sind, die sich uns nicht erschlossen haben, deren Sinn wir nach einer entsprechenden Recherche aber durchaus verstanden haben. Auch standen wir des öfteren z.B. in Vollsperrungen, weil wir dachten wir wüssten es besser als Google Maps. Und so erklärt sich dann auch die Natur und der Nutzen von Navis. Ja, die liegen mal daneben, der Mensch indes tut dies viel öfter.
      Nachbesserungsbedarf sehe ich vor allem bei der Ladestecker-Verriegelung und der (nicht vorhandenen) Möglichkeit, Ladestation nach Anbieter zu filtern bzw. die automatische Ladeplanung mit entsprechenden Parametern füttern zu können. Alles andere ist jetzt schon besser als bei allen Autos die ich kenne.

And I agree find a dealer and test drive it and do your own research and don't believe all what the car vloggers say. They have the car a couple of hours and make assumptions on a hour test drive.

      @@nissanelectrified9583 I’m 191cm, so this is a helpful question for me too. how is the visibility on the top of the windscreen when you’re tall? I had a Leaf, and I loved it, but even though I had enough headroom, I had to keep the seat in a lower position, and I still had trouble seeing traffic lights because the roof came down too low. I once rented a Hyundai Elantra, and OMG was that horrible. I couldn’t fit in there, it felt like you’re sitting on the ground, amd I couldn’t see anything that’s much above the horizon.

    • @nissanelectrified9583
      @nissanelectrified9583  Рік тому

      I just checked, the windscreen goes almost to the top of the car. It's pretty much only the sunblinds that stick "down" plus half a cm of trim or so. I don't think this will be a problem, it certainly isn't one for me. Ariya is more spacious than the leaf in all dimensions and I (long legs!) love the way I can sit in the car. Also, with my 1.85, I actually have the seat raised up 3cm or so, so there is room to drop for larger people. But it's hard to tell if this is good for you as well, since with body height it's always a question what percentage of over all height goes to the legs and the upper body. Suffice it to say, there is a channel by a dutch Ariya driver and he looks to be a GIANT. And he seems to be quite content in the Ariya :) As always - if in doubt, have a test drive!

      @nissanelectrified9583  Рік тому

      Hi mate,
      I've driven both the QQ and the X-Trail E-Power e-4orce. They both are great for what they are. Consumption over all is pretty much on par with a very modern and efficient Diesel of comparable horse power rating (except in the city, where e-Power will be a lot more efficient). The QQ you can get down to 4 to 5 Liters / 100Km on mixed driving, the X-Trail e-4orce will take a litre more give or take (but keep in mind it is considerably bigger, has more power and all wheel drive).
      So, if you don't have any means of charging an EV, these are great! Think of them as a Diesel replacement, but with way more comfort/less noice, more oomph and less pollution (the 1.5l generator Nissan uses is about as clean as an ICE engine can get today).
      That said, if you already have an EV and are fine with the charging and stuff, then an EV is waaaaaaaay better, way more efficient, cheaper to run (if you drive a lot) and has even less noise. Plus the Ariya is step up from the X-Trail in every regard. Last but not least, it will do any sort of charging way better/faster than the Kona, so you are gaining there as well.
      In short: If you rule out an EV as your next car, e-Power is worth taking a closer look. If you are open to an EV, then by all means take the EV. Anything else feels like a step back (probably beacuse it is :D).

      Hi mate, I don't think you'll need mud flaps tbh. For this Ariya, I've not ordered any accessoiries (yet), since the respective catalog simply didn't exist when I ordered the car. The second Ariya that might come will have the underfloor lighting (only active when car stands still) installed from the get go. You can find it in the catalog by now. It's basically Nissans version of the ubiquitous led in the mirror to give some light nect to the car for stepping in and out. Only better :) I've had that in the X-Trail and it's super usefull while looking great.

    • @nissanelectrified9583
      @nissanelectrified9583  2 роки тому +1

      In part for design. I never really could warm up to the 19" variant, although I have to admit I've never seen those in person. That said, from my experience the "top" wheel just performs better and usually the difference in comfort is not too big. The dampening characteristics are different, because there is less rubber and air as a buffer, but I've experienced this to sometimes actually improve the way the suspension worked. Simply, because the car just was less "bouncy". So in terms of comfort, and in absence of any test car to try out, this was a draw, so it came down to design :)

      If you purchase an Ariya, you will be offered a Nissan charge membership. With that, you pay 13€ a month, and can charge for 30c/kWh at Ionity and (I think) 54c/kWh at all other DC rapid chargers that are partners of the Nissan Charge network (which is almost all of them). So if you do frequent rapid charges, those 13€ are well invested there.

Say like if 2 different drivers for a car want to safe there preferences what can be included in there preference to the key or 1/ 2 options in the driver door. Steering wheel/ seat/ mirror/ midconsole-possitions? Layout of the screens? Saving the interior lightning and driving modes, preheating etc etc.... thx a lot in advance and thx alot for the informative videos gives us a head up when our Ariya get delivered ;).

    Thanks for the video. Weird request: Do you have efficiency estimates for American highway speeds (110 - 150 kmh)? Many of the videos I see are of the Ariya travelling lower than 100 kmh. I live in a small residential area where the posted speed limit is about 35 kmh and even in there people routinely drive around 50 kmh! lol

      Hi mate, in fact I already have made a video that might be of help: ua-cam.com/video/muHHpO0a1GY/v-deo.html
      On the next larger drive, I might hug the 130kph, but that's not decided yet. 120 certainly is the most economic speed of course, but 130 might be the sweet spot for this car in terms of consumption vs. travelling time.

      @@nissanelectrified9583 so I already have hit the like button on the video you posted so I must have watched it already but I'm gonna watch it again! I can't reiterate how thankful I am for your videos. I've got the Platinum e-40rce ordered (your color too). I have not had a chance to see an Ariya yet but I have been waiting since 2020 to drive it. Nissan USA is saying "Early 2023" for deliveries of my spec so we'll see. My local dealer said they should a demo vehicle in the dealership by the beginning of November so I can't wait.

    • @nissanelectrified9583
      @nissanelectrified9583  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Holger, it's just so super hard to film that, but I'll try! Basically: it's awesome. Nissans traffic sign recognition has been up the with the best of them anyways, and this system takes it to the next level. On overland roads and in the city, you'll have to acknowledge the speed change (which makes sense, since there are suprisingly many conditional speed limits), and on "Kraftfahrtstraßen" and Autobahn, it will do it completely automatically. You can also program an offset. Together with the automatic slow down before off ramps and through roundabouts, this makes live a LOT easier. The only part I could imagine to be even better would be to make the change prompt from say 100kph to 70 kph on overland roads earlier. Right now, you will enter a 70 zone with more than 70 most of the time. The system seems to rely mostly on the camera and of course, it has to be fairly close to the sign to read it properly, so the input comes a tad too late most of the time. Nissan could add an option to rely more on map data, to initiate slow down earlier. But I can also see how this could be terribly annoying (because map data not always being too accurate etc.), so I'm happy the system doesn't do it as standard. But this is just a minor thing, and might be changed over time (I think some reviewers mentioned it already regarding the Qashqai, so Nissan might take note).

      So twice the work for half the audience per video? I don't think so. This might not be obvious to you, but making videos is EXPENSIVE and takes HOURS and hours of time. Think of one minute of video takes one hour to make end to finish. And I earn zero bucks with this, like literally 0,-€. I've got a family to take care of and work to do to get through these weird times. I can barely handle the workload of these videos as it is and I am already vaporizing the Kilometer allowance defined in my leasing contract as it is, which costs me now (energy) and later (will have to pay for these extra kilometers when I return the car). So forgive me if I can't "just double up". Thanks for understanding.

      No, in Europe we don't have it. Probably because this type of tech wasn't allowed while Ariya was in development and only recently the legal framework was finished. But Pro Pilot 1.5 is fine, it does everything I want from a system like that.

      I'll try to answer as far as possible:
      1) Not at all, I actually like that the car creeps like with an automatic. Easier to maneuver. The one pedal driving is pretty much exactly as with the Leaf, just on the very last meters you use the break, and you can program the car to stay put once it came to a complete stop, so you don't have to keep your foot on the brake. So, no hindrance, just different.
      2) Impossible to answer, since this always depends on from where to where you charge in terms of SOC. To put it differently, it depends on how much range you need. Nissan claims that the car will add 300km in 35 minutes, which is a good number, and the car will do that if charged from 20-80% as you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/lOJXtxQu_aA/v-deo.html Mind you, that the range added is based on my real world driving, that has very little city driving in it (which is where EVs are the most efficient), so if you have a profile that's more city based, you will add a lot more even!). This is especially important if you want to compare these numbers with the competitors.
      If you charge from sub 10%, which you can easily do, since the car has plenty of actual range left even with 5% SOC (LARGE low end buffer!), you will actually exceed manufacturer spec by a pretty large margin. You can check that out here: ua-cam.com/video/pGg2Aqxpp6w/v-deo.html
      The following numbers again are based on my personal range and consumption, so your results may be even better, but they represent what you might experience on a longer distance travel, so I think it makes sense to "think" that way ->
      5-50% (about 207Km of range added/238Km WLTP) will take ca. 18 minutes
      5-75% (about 322Km of range added/371Km WLTP) will take ca. 31 minutes
      5-80% (about 345Km of range added/397Km WLTP) will take ca. 34 minutes
      5-90% (about 391Km of range added/450Km WLTP) will take 41 minutes
      5-95% (about 414Km of range added/477Km WLTP) will take 45 minutes
      5-99% (about 437Km of range added/503Km WLTP) will take 52 minutes, so well under an hour to get to full range.
      And this has been true for each and every rapid charge I made from sub 10%, if I pre heated the battery at outside temperatures sub 10°C. So speed compares roughly to a Model Y, which is to say very good indeed, and very consistent, especially if you consider, that Ariya manages to pull off those speeds with a very low peak rate, so it's way easier on the battery and on the grid compared to other quick charging EVs.
      3) Only thing so far was a problem with the steering wheel, which seems to affect all current Nissans an is not Ariya specific. Nissan seems to have gotten a bad batch of capacitive sensors, so the car throws an error and turns off the auto steer. It's an easy fix though, I simply got a new wheel, took 3 days or so to arrive and it was changed in 45 minutes. It's Nissan, so no discussion needed, I arrived, they read out the code and ordered a new wheel, installed it, happy camper :)
      4) Impossible to say, since this will depend on your dimensions. But I can say that I have long legs and sit veeery comfortably in the back of the Ariya. Loads of room and good seats.
      Hope that helps :)

      Not yet, but temperatures being as they are, I don't expect to see those 130kW before late spring next year. From my experience, the car adjust the charging curve anyways, the lower the peak, the flatter the curve, so average speeds are only marginally slower anyways.
