You how to play vids are great mate, you home made tick and cross are an amazing personal touch, well done. I just ordered this for my son to use for a wargame club he is starting at the special needs school where he is a teaching assistant. They are keen but found killteam and Underworld, which we play, a bit overwhelming as an introduction. We will let you know how they get on! Great to se you channel growing, keep it up!
Thanks so much! Thats so cool, I'd love to hear how it goes and if I can help with the club in any way just get in touch. Maybe I can make them some custom tokens or something! You can email me hello@tabletopskirmishgames.com
Hey Lee, great explanation, as per always! In your opinion, what made games like warcry, mordheim, killteam 2017/2021, necromunda 2003/2017, confrontation, frostgrave, corespace, etc. characters so memorable? Was it the intricacies of character creation and personalisation, in-game activities and items, or the post-game growth that made them so memorable?
Thanks, Matt! I started collecting and playing skirmish games last year so I haven't got to play a few of these titles yet. For me, I'd say it's the personal attention and development given to the characters; both in time and imagination. For example, when playing the games, each time a fighter makes a heroic dice roll or pulls off a crazy move or attack, that's memorable and builds a deeper connection. Building the models, painting, naming, and then taking them through campaigns is a huge investment. Even when not playing, I find I'm thinking about what they could do, different tactics to play, and even what they might get up to in between battles! I think of the games as templates - some more fleshed out than others - but it's the players who personalise them and bring them to life. It's great to have good backgrounds, lore, and structured narratives to follow, but it's not necessary; especially if you like to write or create your own stories. With Wh40k I like reading about the main characters and using them as inspiration, but ultimately I want to create my own. How about you, what do you think?
Is there a license for the game? Was wondering if we’re allowed to publish campaign/modules for Patreon or make commercial tools? I was going to work with Powered by the Apocalypse but this might work better if the license allows it.
I haven't put anything together like that yet, but certainly something I'd be happy to talk about. Drop me an email if you like at hello@tabletopskirmishgames.com If you have any details of the license that you can send, I can see if we can get the terms close to it for you. Thanks, Lee.
