HOUSE TOUR | Inside Teddie Garrigan's Maximalist Dallas Home

- On today’s episode of Homeworthy, we’re bringing you inside Coco & Dash co-owner Teddie Garrigan’s worldly Dallas apartment. Growing up in a military family, Teddie spent much of her childhood exposed to the wonderful architecture of Europe. Her experiences traveling, coupled with her namesake aunt’s approach to design, spurred Teddie’s love for interior decorating and hospitality.
Living in a high rise apartment posed a unique challenge for Teddie in bringing elements of nature into her home. Vibrant greens, scenic landscape murals and pops of animal print fabrics mimic the environments and cultures Teddie grew especially fond of while living abroad. A collector of decommissioned museum artwork, each room is thoughtfully layered with beautiful paintings and prints - some of which Teddie has painted herself. A soft white paint coats the entire apartment, shining a light on Teddie’s assemblage of antique furnishings, family mementos and her husband’s vast array of books. Enjoy!

Teddie, you might not know this, but your Venetian style secretary belonged to Iris Barrel Apfel and I dusted it so many times on the 8th floor of the D&D building at her company, Old World Weavers in New York City, back in the late 80’s. It later went to auction after it did not sell. Iris had it repainted in the coral and green motif over in Long Island City in her workshop and warehouse where she and Carl stocked fabrics and antiques. Seeing it in your home was like seeing an old friend. I am glad you love it. You are such a charming and adorable woman. I love your home. Cheers! Dean Yoder
Nice story, i used to shop at Old World Weavers in the D&D building in the 80's. I wish I could remember my salesman's name.
@@wladyslawjagiello it would have been myself or Robert Speckler
Is this in Texas or do people have to guess what you're saying
Has anything to do with Teddi the decorator
@dyinteriors Dean this is such a special story, thank you for sharing! Iris is a neighbor and an absolute darling. Best wishes to you and yours!
I love the huge wall of books with the paintings on it. I really love the homes on this channel where the maximalists create cozy homey spaces full of things that have memories and meanings for them.
She reminds me of Bunny Williams. Doesn’t look like her but mannerisms, sound and style are similar.
I totally agree!!! The pauses when she speaks are very very similar. And yes the interior style is also similar.
@@JustAnotherRoger Agree.
I thought the same thing!
Agreed! She's just adorable! If I ever see her in the wild, I will definitely say hello 😂 (I live near Dallas)
I thought exactly the same👍
There’s truly nothing like the home of a person who loves books! So warm and inviting! I loved every square inch.
I'm speechless. Thank you so much for introducing us to Teddie Garrigan. I love her unassuming tactics for furnishing a home with antiques and modern pieces. She's the first person I've come across on your channel who's style even remotely comes close to the venerable Bunny Williams.
Yes, I agree she puts you in mind of Bunny!
I pretty much like any home with Chinoiserie!
Such a pleasure meeting Teddie. She is a lovely, lovely woman who has created a beautiful, cozy and ever so interesting home. I appreciated it when she said that her home made her feel "super secure". I've never heard that before from a decorator but I can imagine walking in her front door and immediately feeling that way. I really enjoyed this visit.
I love maximalist homes. You have to have a very good sense of taste to put so many things together in a beautiful way and keep changing from it time to time matching up the colours and pattern. A true reflection Of your talent .
i LOVE that you say you LIVE in your house informally...I believe things are just that; just THINGS....Its so refreshing to see that although you have many beautiful things, you put LIVING OVER THINGS!
I am also a maximalist. Sometimes I wonder if it’s all “too much.” But I really like my home full of beautiful things. And like Teddie, I do like my “smalls” to make fun vignettes. Thank you for opening your doors to us Teddie, it was thoroughly enjoyable.
Never too much and each beautiful thing has its own story.
I love that we’re walking into a nude sculpture. I am Dallas also. My father was a self taught Dallas artist and mother was a writer/ teacher. I’ve grown up with antiques, art and eclectic family. Love your home.
Must have been a wonderful childhood
Gorgeous place. Interesting woman. I can’t believe she is a grandmother of a 25 year old!! Very youthful…
The thing I love most is Teddie! She seems like such a down to earth, grounded human. Her humor is so subtle, but she’s naturally funny! I like cozy minimalism so this home is the opposite of what I would feel comfortable living in. That said, I absolutely love how Teddie he has decorated her home. She’s made it a haven for her, her husband and family. You would never know it’s a high-rise apartment! It shows like a beautiful, stately home. I really enjoyed all of the stories family history. I watched this video twice so far.😆 I appreciate Teddie sharing herself and her home with us.💜
Such a charming lady! I loved her home, but can we just take a minute to admire her husband’s book collection! 😳 Gah! Talk about what my dreams are made of…😍 This is truly a home that loves you back♥️
LOVE HER HOME...IT IS COMFY AND COZY, RELAXING, AND LOVELY! Cracking myself up "Thank God They went for the Nickname".
Teddie is so lovely and warm Her home is beautifully curated,
Her business is Coco & Dash, it looks wonderful.
Teddie Garrigan is delightful. She’s apparently wealthy, definitely sophisticated, but completely down-to-earth. I’m going to figure out how to pursue decommissioned museum pieces! Great tip.
You don’t have to be wealthy to get museum pieces somewhere they have discount price and pieces 😄
@@tiffanycurtis4794 good to know
@@jamiejoygatto have a good memorial day weekend 😊
@@tiffanycurtis4794 thank you and same to you!
I love this maximalist home which is cozy without being suffocating! Love the master bedroom and her own bathroom not shared! Lovely lady... truly a woman of the world.
Be still my heart…lampshades to steal away anyone’s deepest desires. And as for Miss Teddie, herself, what a jewel, down to earth with an innate designer’s soul! What a combo!
I love Teddie's home! It reminds me of when my mom gave me all the china and tea cups and how keeping the most precious items near to you to pull out whenever family or friends arrive to greet you, is important not just to add to a collection but to hold on to for memories like a photo basket! Thank you for sharing!!!
...oh, I loved this. She loves her home, and plays house! Really, what are homes for but to live and enjoy with your family and friends.
This lady has great taste! Beautiful home! Teddie reminds me of Bunny Williams. They are on the same design wave!!
I really like her take on green sofas. I agree; a club chair is always a good idea.
I love this place and she's a hoot!
And, a kitchen with a door!! Wonderful!
Nothing worse than having dinner company with an "open concept" kitchen so everyone can peer in on the cooking mess before you clean it up after desert!
Great apartment. She really show how to warm up a high rise apartment. Great stuff!
Lovely home. I agree with her bathroom philosophy, my husband and I use separate bathrooms and I like it. 😊
The photo basket is a wonderful idea. Definitely going to be a copycat 😊I love this home. Well-done. Beautiful but lived-in. A beautifully curated life.
I am so copycatting too! I love this beautiful lived in home. Nothing is too precious!
I wish they wouldn't flash the rooms before it starts... it's like everyone telling you what you're getting for Christmas in November.
This house is original, beautiful, warm and a fascinating tour. Great art work❤!Thank you lovely lady!
Ms. Garrigan has some truly gorgeous antiques, art, furniture and collectibles.
This is now one of my favorite home tours. Love Teddie’s curated but comfortable style. I’m stealing her basket of loose photos idea. I live in the Metroplex also but was not aware of her store.
I thank you for sharing your home with me. I truly love to tour all these beautiful homes through you tube. What a thrill for me.
Such an incredible home, gorgeous atmosphere and curation.
After saying that they have been married 47 years my favourite phrase of hers is : "there is nothing that is off limits to anyone, our grandchildren or adults"
As a married woman with 8 children she spoke to my heart and I'm amazed that you can have such a beautiful home that is welcoming to everyone.
We will leave all our earthly possessions here when we die, so I believe it makes sense to enjoy and share what the Lord allows us to have with people🤗
I also needed to hear her say several times that we dont need things to match, im already pretty eclectic,...but hearing this from her seems to come from wisdom and has freed my mind up quite a lot now.
Such a beautiful home, with a beautiful, sweet, sensitive, and sentimental woman.🌺
Charming home!! It was kind of funny when she said that she allowed her family members to put their feet on the coffee table but, WHERE? there is no space there, of course all the things she put there looks beautiful.😄😄
I love a house like hers where there is inspiration in every corner!!! She has a very "Bunny Williams" sensibility and I love it. Thanks for another great tour! Keep them coming!
Omg i love the huge book cases and I collect pictures and painting with snow awesome
What a beautiful, fascinating home! It's so elegant but still warm and homey. I love the story of Teddie's art, furniture, and pieces. Decor that's been collected over the years and has meaning to those who live there is what makes a house (or in this case an apartment) a home. I was inspired by so much during the tour, especially the idea of having an easily accessible and attractive basket of family photos where friends and family can flip through them. Such a fun conversation starter.
I think all the Dallas home tours set the bar on This channel. 🙃😉
What a wonderful home and owner. So approachable and beautiful.
I would have liked to have the camera focus on the furniture and show more
I was thinking the same thing
@@heidiraia9902 same
Absolutely love the beautiful art piece her husband gifted her...the painting of the canoe on the water, located over the green sofa in the living room. I think that is my favorite piece in the entire home. ❤
Teddie is A-dorable with a capital A! Really enjoying this tour. The Beds, with the curtain pediments are SO fitted ad fitting; And all the lovely things and she is so nice! Thank you! ❤
Teddie is just adorable! Great story and a perfectly comfortable, beautiful, graceful home. x
What a beautiful place!!! The collections are just incredible. So glad that it is designed for comfort and everyday living. Thanks so much for another wonderful tour.
What a wonderful homey home! I love her sense of decorating with things she is drawn to regardless of any type of supposed rules! My Mom who love garage sales used to do the same! Mainly because she couldn’t afford new and because she enjoyed the element of change. I now follow that same style. Thank you so much for sharing your space❤❤❤
oh wow...that pic of you in Germany.... I have one from me in first grade like that in Frankfort, Germany from like 1956! I love your home and style! Beautiful, I especially love your framed botanicals!
One of my favorite maximalist homes! I especially appreciated Teddie's explanations of her design philosophy.
Fun tour, love the green sofas and the photo basket idea...and she said "cockamamie," one of my favorite words. 🤗
I would say this home qualifies as maximalist - stool in front of chair in front small table in front slightly larger table in front of secretary in front of bookcase. That qualifies
It's not really decorated in the style and look of maximalism. She collects a lot and maybe should consider editing her collections. There's so much it doesn't seem like a coherent look. Also, no particular color story. I think she just has A LOT of things.
@@jamiejoygatto her kitchen is nice though 😊
@@tiffanycurtis4794 Everything is nice to me, I guess I just wouldn't put all those things together. It's a lovely apt. and has beautiful things in it.
@@tiffanycurtis4794 I love the bedroom. It is serene and calm. It works well together.
@@jamiejoygatto I like it, it looks personal and collected over time. Some homes look too staged and don’t stand the test of time.
She exudes such warmth and is so engaging. Easy and interesting to listen to. I love the idea of the loose photis in a basket. Im going to do that. Her home looks formal but has an ease, a comfort to it. Its full of memories and fun! The animals.. ❤️💯
So beautiful, interesting and stylish! So inspirational to see an apartment with a more contemporary shell- decorated with such soul and character. A lady of great taste and style. Thanks for opening up your home for us to enjoy!
Teddie has me as her entry console… love love everything about it, exceptional and a truly collector sensibility. I’m gonna take inspiration from the photo box too.
Echo others.. she remind me of Bunny Williams indeed, especially when she mentioned you have to have a drink table next to all the chairs 😂.
It’s upscale but extremely cozy. A true home.
This is one of the most wonderful homes that I have ever seen. Well done and then some.
What a delightful visit to a beautiful curated home!!
Love this! As one who lived in Dallas for 30+ years, I was always extremely intrigued to know what some (or even one) of all those high rise apartments were like on the inside! While a bit too traditional for my personal taste, it's an absoluately lovely home, done beautifully, with taste and warmth. But having just moved cross-country, I couldn't help but think about what it would take to move all those items somewhere else, yikes! (especially all those books!) Hope you are staying cool in Dallas, Teddie!
Probably an 18 wheeler or 2 worth of belongings for a cross-country move! She's in an older highrise so it's great to see how much of the original features have been retained while still customing for their own collections. Must be a very well-built building considering the weight of all of those books alone!
I am now officially obsessed with Teddie Garrigan!
Oh my just absolutely gorgeous!! Wish I knew where to get those botanical prints, I’ve tried 🤷♀️. The whole house is stunning!
LOVE!!!!! Love everything about your decorating style and you and fantastic!
Loved this home because of the strongly personal touches and memories it seems to hold. My mantra going forward will be: Do not be afraid of green.
Teddie reminds me a lot of my mom. My mom decorated like this and now I'm following suit. And I have that same Ralph Lauren fabric on a pair of old Ralph Lauren slipper chairs that I bought at a thrift store for $7 each and had reupholstered in that animal print. I LOVE that fabric and she mixes it so well with her other fabrics and art. I'm inspired! Thank you so much for sharing!
What a delightful treat to meet Teddie and tour her beautiful home❤
That was fabulous ❤
I like the basket with photos, a great idea 💖
Teddie Garrigan has a beautiful home. She has decorated it well. I love how it is not matchy, matchy but it melds well together with the pieces she has chosen. She uses lots of patterns, European and maximalism.
I love her idea about putting photos in a basket under the coffee table instead of an album where they're rarely seen and even when they are the albums fall apart and the pictures are often falling out. I'm going to do this with my own photos.
and I did. My albums were falling apart and even when I bought a new one the pictures fell out.
Hope you have an inventory of what things are - where they came from and what is important to you and who you want it to go to -
The lady made me feel at ease. I loved the house, and her stories.
You know someone lives in a place with a lot of square footage when they have multiple living rooms and one of them is 15x13 which they describe as “not a big room” 😆 I enjoyed her home tour, there’s just such a wide variety of the way people live that it hurts sometimes to hear someone describe their space that some of us would consider as very large, to be “small”
To be fair, their main living room is 30 feet long....so I don't think she was trying to disparage other people's homes so much as compare them relative to other parts of her own home.
She’s a lovely lady with so many unique treasures🌺
I love this one, thank you for showcasing it. Being a maximalist as well, I appreciate all the beautiful objects, art and in particular the gorgeous fabric on the club chairs. Very well done.
That was a wonderful tour of a fabulous home - and I loved our charming hostess.
I want a mother and/or grandmother like this! Fantastic taste. I especially love the living room and husband's office.
what a house! i wish the photograher tracked down as she was speaking about the pieces. there were there but not visually seen. frustrating.
I am also a maximalist. I have a lot of the same design and collectibles you have here. I love the library. Mine is a bit smaller. One wall. I stuff it with art the kids made, and art I made and love the birds, water fowl. I took a snippet of a couple of your paintings. I have a folder of paintings that I want to use as inspiration for my next painting. Thanks for showing us around.
I love her! I love how she walks through and explains all the details of her home and the reasoning behind the design. More videos of her please 🙌🏽
Beautiful home with unique and treasured collectibles. Love her style and thoughtful design suggestions. Her art collection is lovely as well. ty
Wowww, what an incredible amount of treasures! Love the paintings, all the statuary and the columns with the gazing balls. I am also part of the "Housewhisperers Club." Houses definitely talk to you! And agree, no TVs in the bedroom! She is so warm and cute, she does remind me a bit of Bunny Williams with her focus on down home hospitality, comfort and practicality. So many great tips! My beloved aunt's name was Teddy, BTW. She was a great beauty and vivacious personality! ;)
Love this apartment! So much to look at but the way it’s styled is cozy not cluttered at all . The bedroom is so calming . Really love the idea of a picture basket . Great to have family pictures around
I don’t have a family, but I love beautiful things too. That being said, I love her house ❤
I knew immediately that those botanicals were like the ones Lee Radziwill had. I admired hers for years. Please tell me where you can find the newer museum copies.
Love her home, I love everything! Also love her mix! I’m inspired! 😊
How absolutely wonderful I feel just looking at your home on a television screen! You absolutely magnify the word "eclectic." I love your style!
Lovely home and she is lovely too. Excellent choices in everything. Could be a bit more on the cozier side for me, but so many things to love and that I would choose. Layered perfectly and enough of an English vibe (but not too overbearing) that it’s in my top 7 favorites on Home Worthy. Thank you for sharing you beautiful home. You’re an Excellent decorator.
So lovely. She reminded me so much of Bunny Williams and even her voice much the same. She has a wonderful life and it shows in her tour. Thank you HW ~
Oh my Lord…. This house is amazing!!! Such a beautiful taste and amazing talent…!!!!😍😍😍😍😍❤❤❤❤
Unbelievable home! Thanks
Beautiful apartment
The final statement says it all.... That's everyday, marriage lasting love
Love the idea to put photos in a lovely basket, instead of an album 👍🏽
Very beautiful. Love your home. Very talented. I love maxi interior.
love this lady and her home. You can tell it is comfortable and meant to live in.
A fabulous raconteur. Lovely apartment. Thank you for the video!
Love all the memories, stories, and things she loves. ♥️ Beautiful lived in home. Enjoyed this tour very much. 🥰
I love this beautiful house tour , is sou gorgeous elegant class in cozy . I love the dog art hang and books case lovely and beautiful. Thank very much homeworthy for this beautiful home tour .❤❤❤❤
Beautiful home with stunningly curated objects. And by the way, the correct term is *deaccessioning,* not decommissioning.😊
You are so correct! I do know the correct term and don’t know why I said decommissioned-and I said it twice! 🥸❤

This was a wonderful video.
Teddie, lovely home. Thank you for sharing. I could watch your videos all day long.
Tour your shop and your daughter’s home? I bet they are lovely spaces.
