Bullshit! I've been using car covers for the last ten years without issues. There's no moisture buildup because car covers are designed to breathe. I park my car at the truck terminal, cover it, leave it for up to one month, then return to an emaculate looking car. Everyone else comes back to see their paint fading and covered in bird poop.
Thank you for this. My situation is different. I live in Arizona and my black Audi is getting cooked by the very hot and dry sun all day. It barely gets driven. Eventually it gets brown with sand and bird poop and over time I can only imagine sun fading. I don’t see how in my case a car cover would ever do more damage
A good ceramic coating and a quality wax on top and all rubber protected are essential. Once this is done I assume no dirt or car cover will scratch the car surface as the wax and ceramic are protecting the paint under the car cover. I don't own a car cover and live in the south east corner of Spain in a hot semi-arid dry climate and find the ceramic/wax treatment works wonders.
@@Chris-hq6tl Any exposed rubber, and plastic trim parts on the car...for example, rubber splash guards, fender flares, the exterior rubber trim around the windows...even the rubber strip on top of the front windscreen that the softtop closes up against snugly to prevent rain getting in.
In the desert of SW New Mexico the UV from the blazing hot sun will ruin your paint in no time. Car covers are a must for ungaraged cars! Micro scratches are a mute point! ☀️☀️☀️
My issue is the neighbour's CAT. Keeps jumping on my bonnet with tiny little stones on its paws and puts scratches on my bonnet!!!! The only way I can prevent it is by placing an outdoor cover on my car. Devil or the deep blue sea!
Moisture is the biggest problem with outdoor car covers. I have 2 P6 Rovers. One is under a carport with no cover. One is underneath a Halfords outdoor cover outside. Paint deterioration is occuring immeasurable faster on the car cover P6 than the carport P6. I'm wondering if you can make a few stand offs for the bodywork to keep the cover off the paint. A softer closed cell foam maybe.
my car sits on a large sheet of UPVC off ebay which keeps the moisture attacking the floor pan when it rains and snows. I have a storm proof cover for the car which is very good but are expensive and need replacing every 3 or 4 years
My concern is love scratches. I have to park my car outside but after a couple of days it will be filthy if not covered. I just purchased one with a soft liner but I’m not sure that will prevent the scratches
I honestly haven't noticed a difference. It helps that seats are burning to fuck, and I guess it's saved a bit of life on the paint. Just a lil hassle putting the cover on :)
@@bradmace6144 thats my reason i live in new zealand and about 5 years of constant parking in the sun can make the clear coat peel due to having holes in our ozone layer and cleaner air than most places meaning we have extremely high uv's like Australia so I use my car cover when I don't have access to shaded parking during summer if I'm parking for 3 days or more as my home has shaded parking
All the streets around me are tree lined and no matter where I park my car gets covered in bird shit, covered in scratches and covered in tree shed. I'm at the end of my rope with it. Car cover can't be the answer? What the hell do I do with the thing when it rains? not to mention gets shit on....
@youtuber-cc8sx there were nearly 100 scratches on the roof of my car. I got it fixed and ordered a car cover. Within 2 days of parking on the street already had new scratches on the roof and the cover didn't arrive for another 10 days. I never even bothered to use it and eventually got it fixed again and moved D:
I use a cover, and yes they need to be secured properly. UV rays have done way more damage than my car cover. That being said, I don’t live in the UK. So they might have issues that I don’t experience.
Do you think I should use one for my car that is in an apartment parking lot (outdoors) because lawn people come by randomly once a month and I get grass, etc all over the sides of my car. And it's a brand new 2020 Rav4. I bought a $34 car cover off eBay, but am hesitant to break it open and use it.
Si le pones un cover a tu carro en exteriores vas a crear un invernadero que va a levantar la pintura y dañar el plástico con la humedad creada por el caliente del carro y la humedad de la noche.
NO, NO, NO car covers are terrible for paintwork . I have lost count the amount of cars I have seen in my workshop with paint issues caused by car covers
these people are wackos. There is no perfect solution and leaving a car outside in bird poo is absolutely worse, beyond all the silly theoreticals. And buffing the car for any of those things is ridiculously easy
Useful discussion concisely presented. Thank you!

What car cover you use?

What do you mean by All Rubber Protected?

If you correctly use the included straps, with a proper 4 layer cover, you'll be fine...
Of course it will. That’s what the cover is for
I bought a cover to protect my 3 series bmw. To protect it from the sun as its black and has leather seats.

Sounds like you're trapped between a rock and a hard place - a good cover might be the lesser of two evils

My step dad used a car cover on his black mustang and the paint on the roof starting peeling off also on the front😵
So I guess I need to get a real silk blanket under a car cover. Last time I checked it’s about $800 for a silk sheet that’ll cover a Miata.

Should you put tires on top of the cover to stop it blowing off
Rocks, but make sure they have very jagged edges. Right on the roof and hood works well.

Tricky call - grass is easy to remove and unlikely to cause short term damage so perhaps keep the cover in the wrapper

34! Nah man don't use It the good car covers are around 200 and over
