I use Gyeon Bathe+ on my Gyeon Infinite Evo coated car and find it fantastic at giving the coating a little 'reset'. I also have had a lot of success finishing off with Gyeon Ceramic Detailer every 2-3 washes. Even after 18 months, with most weekdays parked in the hot Aussie sun, it's still shiny and smooth to touch. Gyeon offer really good value for money products.
@kevinlewington4762 because of the way water behaves on the surface if I 'haven't got around' to doing it (ie feel a little lazy or time poor when washing. If that's what my retailer recommended to extend the life of the coating then I'll do it.
Got your back! Shooting another diy video on a zl1 Corvette currently! It's basically putting what I talk about in this video into action so you see the steps happen
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I just had my brand new bronco coated with gtechniq crystal serum ultra topped with exoV5 and I've been running myself ragged trying to find some good product recommendations to maintain it at home!! Great video! Thank you for spending the time!
For me my number 1 ceramic coating maintenance is meguiar's M799 pro hybrid ceramic bead booster!, it will never roll back the hydrophobic effect and it is very durable in pure use! So smooth and slippery, shiny I love it!. In pre-wash shampoos, I love the autobrite magifoam, because it has a very good corrosion inhibitor, the brake discs don't rust as quickly as with some other shampoos!. But there are so many choices on the market, because carpro descale, lift, gyeon restart wash, are also excellent products!.
I also like to do my own tests, because sometimes we are surprised by the results. Example I have meguiar's paint protect 365, which is a polymer product, alone it is nothing extraordinary, it applies easily, is very soft and smooth but the hydrophobic effect is not great, it is more sheeting than beautiful beading. But after some tests I realized that it could be an excellent topper!. On ceramic coatings that are not very smooth, not very soft and not very slippery, meguiar's paint protect binds perfectly. I had a cheap ceramic coating (xml ceramic & Graphene Coating) whose hydrophobic effect is not great, and to the touch in the hand it is very catchy, and it is a sheeting coating, when I topper it with meguiar's paint protect 365, the next day I had a sick hydrophobic effect!, crazy pearls, with pearls that rolled on the paint leaving a completely dry wake!. Also very resistant because I had trouble releasing the hydrophobic effect 😮 as if a not very smooth and slippery coating was like an excellent base coat for meguiar's paint protect 365 and reticulated as it should be. It's so weird at times the results obtained.
Whoa, GREAT video. Thank you. I didn’t have any concept really about maintaining my DYI ceramic coating. A ton of work to do right and now I can extend it.
If I had money for an RS5 or the one in the video, I’m assuming I’d have the money to just take it to you to clean as often as I wanted. Great video and informative.
Agreed. And I'd love caring for it. Lots of my customers with expensive cars definitely enjoy doing diy stuff to tho. Very therapeutic and relaxing for them. Gets them away from stressful work and spend nice quiet time with a car they love 🙂
I had a new RS5 and now an M4 but if I took it to someone to have it cleaned every time I wouldn’t be able to afford those cars. I like cleaning cars myself anyway but still wouldn’t throw money away unnecessarily. Look after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves lol 😂 Great video btw 😊
@@supraian1983 lol. No one comes to me routinely. Not even my really wealthy customers. Just unnecessary. They come 1-3 times a year for maintenance details. Outside of that they wash it or do a hand car wash place that's pretty good
This is a great video. I alternate Gyeon Cure and Gyeon Ceramic Detailer every 2nd wash. I try to wash once a week. We drive 100 miles a day so I know I won't get 4 years out of my 2 coats of Mohs Evo, but I do my best to keep it tip top.
Loving your channel. I do majority of my own corrections, polishings and ceramics with the help of my buddy, like to geek out on things like you do. Interesting however, I have been using beadmaker for years and didn't know about it clogging the coating, but it does make sense given some certain "issues" I have come across. Recently, experimenting with Larrys ceramic which is great, but not as slick as CSL/EXO is. I did NOT know EXO can go on top and Im going to try it this week on my TRX, hoping it turns out well. Just got hyrdo as a maintenance topper but Ill check out wetcoat and Gyeons as well. Great info!
Thanks for browsing the Status Channel! Gyeon makes wetcoat for clarification. Also gtechniq should be releasing exo v5 soon!!! I'm very excited to use it. I hear good things.
Very good content. I will suggest to try Auto Fanatic car care line. Slightly pricey but fantastic products. absolutly mind blowing for ceramic coated cars
Thank you for the video. My GR Corolla is getting ceramic/ppf and I’m doing a lot of research to make the investment worth it. I’ve been a big fan of Griot’s ceramic wash/wax/spray for non-ceramic coated cars but it sounds like I’d be better off using the brands mentioned in the video.
thanks for the info. excellent info. one question. what products can i use for removing the bake dust of the wheels. my wheel where also ceramic coated.
During my maintenance ceramic do i just wash and do a maintenance coat? I was thinking of applying gyeon can coat, i have cquartz uk 3.0 with sic as topper. A video for maintenance ceramic coating would be appreciated.
@@EhsaanShaikh-z6p I'll try and get a video like that out! Can coat is great for maintaining. Be sure to spray into towels with towels wrapped like around the bottle. Oversprsy can be nasty with that. I usually use exo v5 but both are great options
This is by far the most informative and honest video I've seen on ceramic coating maintenance, and I've watched a LOT recently, especially from some of the bigger channels (PTO) Question: you recommended against using bead maker, what about their dream maker? Or is that just as bad? Also as far as QD/drying aids go, any thoughts on just good ole ONR and a good quality MF towel?
Glad you found me! Lots of videos you might like including a review of mohs Evo coming out now! Just released at 9am. I'd use ceramic based products on ceramic. I'd rather see you use exlizer or ceramic detailer or even something like turtle wax spray ceramic detailers. I've never been a bead maker guy but using it on ceramic coated cars seems silly and the company doesn't have a strong history with ceramic. Onr to me is more of a cleaning product. I'd rather see you use gyeon quick detailer or ceramic Detailer or cur. Or carpro reload or elixir. I've been trying out ethos something something lol. Forgot the name but it's Orange. That's seemed to be decent too.
Excellent video and awesome McLaren :). What about the Gyeon Bathe+ shampoo, would you recommend it as a shampoo for ceramic coatings to avoid the next step with the ceramic sealants?
I actually prefer you do maintenance at home lol. We are to busy doing 13k details in million dollar cars. That's why this video was made. So you can easily approach this process at home. You sound like a really fun guy based on your numerous comments. Gotta be careful in this world right? Everyone is out to get you and your money.
Good info man. I have three of my vehicles coated. One with armour shield, one with Ethos Matrix graphene, and one with CSL and Exo. I very happy with all three so far.
Thanks for sharing. Wanted your opinion on how to remove & reapply a new ceramic coating. I was going to clay bar it with a soft/medium clay bar and gyeon detailers spray, then wax it & gyeon prep to remove any oils left over. The reapply ceramic coating .
Everything you said was about right but you definitely don't want to wax it then ceramic coat it. After the clay I'd recommend a light polish on the car. Something with mild abrasive. Then gyeon prep. Then your new ceramic.
I appreciate all of the details, steps, product types, and brands and uses. Here’s my question: if I have a 2,3,5,7+ yr ceramic coating applied by a pro or even do it myself but I’m adding ceramic sprays, drying aid’s, ceramic waxes, toppers etc that last 2 to 3 months or 6 to 9 months respectively, then how can you tell if the actual ceramic coating applied will actually last the time claimed by the manufacturer? Once I get my paint looking good, I can use a maintenance topper, ceramic wax like Gyeon Q2 or Gyeon Quarts One, Gyeon Wetcoat, Turtlewax Hybrid line of products, Jade Reboot, Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic Wax, Opti-Coat, Gtechniq, Angel Wax (the list is endless) all of which will add months of protection on their own. So where is the benefit of the ceramic coating?
This is a great question! The answer is very simple You can absolutely dial in your paint and then for example use wet coat and cure repeatedly and keep the car in incredible shape. If you end up using a harsh chemical to wash your car you will strip that much faster if you get a little busy and aren't able to wash the car for a month or two it'll end up stripping everything potentially. In harsh weather or you wash with harsh chemicals because you're getting lots of contamination. The same car with a base layer of a real ceramic coating that's being maintenanced with those strong sealants will not see any issues in the same above situations. Real ceramic coatings will always be more hydrophobic more scratch resistant more chemical resistant give UV resistance in overall last a very long time. But just because we have that on the car doesn't mean we should treat it like it has some kind of permanent armor shield and neglect it on the maintenance side.
The wax is going to debond automatically so it's not going to stay on very long. If it's already been a few weeks and at least one wash it's probably already gone. If you use a strong soap like car pro lift or gyeon foam and then follow that with a normal car soap I would say you'll probably strip most of that wax off
@@DilutionRatioOfficial not sure on that one. To my knowledge gyeon was one of the only of not the the only company using flourine in ceramic or now in "wax" Mohs Evo has flourine combined into the formula too. It's not added it's like blended into the DNA of the formula... It's confusing but the website explains it. Lol
Hello Evan, I’ve learned so much watching your video, thank you . I have 2 simple questions: 1) say I have done ceramic coating (dual layers) and now I am doing my monthly wash, after wash and dry , do I apply Gyeon Cure straight away ? or should I use Panel Prep THEN Cure ? 2) can I use CSL and EXO on a motorcycle? If not what product you recommend ? Many thanks in advance
CSL and exo on motorcycle. Yes👍 Cure can be used as drying aid after blow dry or just as a spray wipe wax after drying. Prep is used to remove residue. That's it's main job. You should not need it before every cure application unless for example you did a wash with tar remover. Then I might want prep to really ensure I got everything off residue wise Preps main intended use is to remove polishing residue. So after paying correction you would use prep. Prep makes the surface completely perfect and clean of any residue or chemicals and then you can apply ceramic or sealant
If you do the steps correctly and work small areas I think the average diy perstxan install ceramic. Just dont try to install two doors at same time. Do one door or even half a door
@@DerickHo I'm not sure if your using the word polish correctly. You should avoid polishing a car eith ceramic. That's abrasive and will remove you coating. You can use paste wax like gyeon q2 wax or spray ceramic sealant like cure or reload. You can also add something like gtechniq exo v5. Those all add gloss and hydrophobics back.
Thank you for the in depth explanations. I can tell you're a perfectionist after watching a bunch of your videos. I also bought a a lot of stuff from your web store over the weekend since you had better prices than amazon. I have a question though, i'm approaching the 3 week mark since my new black X5 got a ceramic pro coating and full front PPF done. I am planning on washing my car next weekend. How often should i be using iron and bug/tar grime removing products in between my washes. I plan on washing my car once a every 4 weeks. I drive under 400 miles a month and mostly on highways and my car is garaged at home. Also is there a Gyeon Ceramic topper you can recommend that I could apply yearly?
Also do you have any preferences between Gyeon Ceramic Detailer and Gyeon Cure? i ended up buying ceramic detailer because i've heard many people comment negatively on cure because it streaks easily, and mind you, i have a glossy black car. Would you still recommend Gyeon cure over Gyeon ceramic detailer. I also bought Gyeon quick detailer, with the idea that i would use ceramic detailer every other wash.
@@easytiger266 ceramic detailer is great. As is cure. Cure is just stronger and more durable. You can also slightly diltue cute to kinda sorta make ceramic detailer. No wrong option between those. Wetcoat is a great ceramic topper but to get a true "topper" you'd want something like exo from Gtechniq. You could use that annually or every 6 months on a clean car. Basically whenever you want a big boost in gloss and hydrophobics. Use tar and iron x when you feel like you have tar and iron depots you should not use it for fun. If you go like a year without needing it you could do a annual wash with them to ensure surface is perfect then do exo for example. If you build up a lot of iron or hit fresh tar then obviously they will be great Thanks for watching and shopping my store!!
@@STATUSDETAIL Awesome!! Thank you for the quick reply. I feel like i’ve got a good handle on things after watching so many of your videos. Please keep em coming!
Great video. I have a question about how to go about restoring the ceramic on my 2020 Buick. I had it do4ne straight out of dealer to me and have been having the guy who done my car do the yearly maintenance. First year he was reasonable $150, 2nd year $250, 3rd $350. can't afford this guy anymore and would like to maintain myself but over time there are a lot of swirls and scratches that really annoy me. I am investing in a buffer and pads to see if I can get it back to close to factory condition. How do I begin? how far should I take it down?
I wonder why the price changed every year. If it was the same service each time that's a bit interesting. If the car needs more then it sounds about right. This is a tough question to answer. If your getting a lot of swirls that are building up then the only way to remove them is polishing. Polishing is abrasive and will remove or at the very least hurt your ceramic durability. The more you polish the more you remove of.the ceramic and eventually you remove it all If your ok with recoating the car after then polish the laiito your desired level then coat it. Otherwise we don't have many options without getting overly complicated for a UA-cam comment. Based on your comment it sounds like you should polish with carpro reflect or carpro Ulta cut. Depends how bad the swirls are and what kind of paint you have. Soft/hard. Then apply a new coating like mohs Evo or crystal serum light for example. Then follow steps in this video for your Maintenance.
Thanks so much for the advice. I am seriously thinking of trying to correct it myself after watching your video. Some of the videos on UA-cam freak me out but your are very to the point. I just purchased a Griots G9 random orbital buffer. Now I will have to figure out which pads to use and maybe get the carpro and give it a shot. Thanks again.
@@grh5628 I recommend the hdo lake country pads in my store. Blue is for compound/cutting. Orange is for polishing. I'm thinking I should film a paint correction video soon! I'll definitely try to fit that in.
Thanks for this video.....I use most of the products you talked about. I did MOHS Evo single layer, then added Gyeon CanCoat an hour afterwards. I am about 10 months in, so I am wondering if you'd recommend most (after a Gyeon Foam wash + panel wipe) CanCoat, Gyeon Evo or Q2 Wax as the sacrificial for the 6-12 months?
Gyeon evo is the most durable option but it's also basically re-ceramic coating the car. Can coach your most durable option and would make a lot of sense. Key two wax is a great option but it's the least durable in most quote unquote sacrificial. Would I typically do after about a 1-year mark is reapply EXO on my personal cars or I'm customer cars to come back for maintenance. Typically they have CSL on EXO. So we basically service the top coat and reapply it. Everything we're talking about is going to add new sacrificial protection so there's really no wrong option here but if you're looking for an additional six 12 months of strong durability I would say can coat or EXO are my true recommendations
@@doughope761 wait until someone gives me a new hypercar and we do a my kind of crazy on that start to finish!!! No one scheduled for that yet but I believe it's a Matter of time! Thanks for shopping my store 🙂🙂
Great video. People need in-your-face expertise because they get crazy ideas otherwise. Thanks. Ques: I did a paint correction and applied a good ceramic coat with all the steps in between ... my Cadillac ATS looks great. However, every few days, I notice dust and pollen accumulating on the surface detracting from the shine. Many times, I don't necessarily have the time to do a wash. Is there a product that I can apply (e.g. spray) and wipe off with a MFT that is safe for my coating? If there isn't, so be it. If there is, I'd love to know. Thanks, again!
I'd wash it or leave it. If you park outside all the time it's going to get dusty. If you park inside and gets more "normal" dust from inside a garage I'm more likely to say quick detailer is ok. But outside dust builds up fast and will be a forever battle every 24 hours
@@STATUSDETAIL it's a garaged car except a few days each week when it's parked outside all day while I'm at work. Please know, I'm immensely appreciative of your response to my question. Knowing the answer, regardless of "yes" or "no," is great! Thanks, again, for your reply!
@@rand49er if it sits inside a few days after a wash and gets light garage dust settling id say you can quick detailer it. If you drive it 4 times and it's dusty then you should wash it. Especially on any dark colored cars. Lighter cars can get away with more but anytime your wiping stuff your risking swirl marks unless your washing correctly with lots of lubrication. Then it's considerably safer.
My pleasure! Yes I do. Probably don't use it lol. I'm sure it gets the job done but better stuff is available. I'm also not sure what soap your talking about. I think they sell like 173 soaps lol.
@David Zaret I'm sure it will give lubrication to reduce swirls and help loosen dirt. I'm just not a fan. If you have some then use it! Just maybe don't buy it again lol
Amazing video! I just ceramic coated my car with Gyeon Mohs Evo. The result is amazing but now I am wondering how to maintain it best. Thinking of buying Gyeon Bathe+, Wetcoat and Cure. But besides I was wondering the following. I still have two bottles of Turtlewax Hybrid Ceramic Spray Coating. Is it possible to use this or will it have the opposite result as you said?
I would have avoid using the turtle wax but that's just my opinion. I also would not use bathe plus. I would stick to basic bathe. And gyeon lift. Cure and WetCoat are both awesome. Batge plus is nice but it's weird to use. I'll have to make a video on it. It's complicated lol
What about using Carpro Reload? Also if you have say a Gyeon ceramic coating, should you use Gyeon products for maintenance or does other products work fine like Carpro Reload and Reset? Either way very informative video! Great work!
@@STATUSDETAIL thanks! 😁 I have another question. Why can’t you use Gyeon Foam as a regular maintenance prewash snow foam in a foam lance? It says it’s ph neutral when diluted 1:5, so would using it damage or weaken the ceramic coating that’s applied? 🤔
@@dpugelj123 you definitely can. But it's intended use is as a heavy duty soap to soften and release dirt before contact wash. So you would spray the foam again a second time. In my opinion bathe or reset is better at contact wash vs foam or lift being better at the no contact side. At the end of the day you can definitely use only foam if you like Ony personal cars and customer cars we use foam or lift them reset or bathe.
@@STATUSDETAIL I think you just answered my dilemma I had for the last few months after watching countless of videos 😅😇 1. Wash the wheels 2. Rinse the entire car 3. Dry (Sorry for the long post 😂 It’s a daily driver and I don’t have a garage) if I miss anything please correct me or add anything I should add to my routine 😇
question, just added a ceramic coating last week. 1) when would i add the EXO coating? after a year? 2) wouldn't the base coating reject the new added layer of EXO? 3). For coating with EXO on top of a base, how many layers would I do? 4). What's wrong with bead maker on top of a ceramic coating?
@@jefferrrson1x first of all they now make EXO V5. So I recommend that because it's way better than the previous version. You can put V5 over your base coat a few hours after you install. You can also install it anytime after is a maintenance item. 6 months 1 year 2 years etc. Base coats will never reject EXO V5. V5 is designed as a topper It is designed to bond to a ceramic coating and fortify it as a topper. One really thick layer is the minimum. You can definitely do two or three but I think you start to see diminishing returns. Bead maker is polymer based. You want something that is ceramic based. Ceramic base sealants do a better job of bonding and actually giving you proper adhesion and protection with a ceramic coated car. A polymer-based product is more likely to not adhere and bond correctly and will basically be very temporary. Products like that or developed to bond in fortify wax and sealant. Ceramic is a totally different ballgame. Nothing bad will happen but in my opinion your dollars won't be working for you the same way.
@@STATUSDETAIL so a ceramic base sealant is best to put on top of a ceramic coated car vs a polymer sealant car… gotcha. Thanks so much for the thorough response. Ima subscribe just for that engagement. Appreciate you sir.
What would you recommend for a decontamination soap on a ceramic coated vehicle? One to get rid of bugs or sap lets say. Also, we are missing your excellent content, business must be going well! All the best to you bud.
@@Gamblor24 currently I really like citrus foam from gtechniq. But it might not remove tree sap. That might require something like bug and or tar removers. CarPro descale is also a honorable mention. Loads of really cool tips here - you said Gyeon Foam/Lift are not for everyday routine washing but Gyeon certainly say you can use Foam every wash? Just dilute it down a little further to use less…if you say only use Lift/Gyeon Foam every 3 months or so then what snow foam would you use the rest of the time? Or are you recommending Reset/Bathe as a snow foam? It no snow foam at all ?
You basically answered all your own questions 👍 Reset bathe Canon should be used regularly. You can 100% use foam or lift as often as you want but they're expensive and you're basically double buying soap every time which is going to hurt your wallet. You can use foam and lift every other wash once a month whatever you want. For me personally I use them every couple months on my personal cars and basically on every car I do a ceramic coating on paint correction PPF etc I just want to be clean when I'm doing other people's cars in those situations. I hope that helps
Thanks that did help a lot. When you do a basic maintainance wash on say your own personal car (not a customer car that it’s in a few times a year) do you use a snow foam at all ?
@@01123581321341 because I'm so busy now every wash is a. Maintenance wash. As in a full on clean of everything. A customer would pay around $350 for that. Every two months or so. Great info as always! Question: I have Crystal Serum Ultra applied in November 2018, 1st year I took it in for its lovely $250 coating maintenance detail and the last 2 years I’ve been doing it myself since I find washing and cleaning the vehicles therapeutic and cheaper than seeing a therapist. 🤣. I’ve been using C2v3 after that maintenance wash and I use it every 3-4 months and normally use Elixir as a drying aid, Wetcoat or another product on rims usually. @@cmwalona Sounds like you're doing a great job on maintenance! Wecoat is so good and given the milage and garage kept you should be in decent shape with the routine care your doing. The ceramic is 4 years old now so I would recommend some kind of heavier hitting maintenance soon. As in exo or a similar topper type product from another company. Q2 wax would also be great before we see snow and salt. Wetcoat and cure and products like that are super awesome and essential to your lineup. But nothing replaces the semi permanent refresh of something like exo to keep everything in Harmony.
100% agreton the therapeutic part and I dig all the products you are using. My own tests with c2v3 seemed off. I do need to try it again as I'm convinced I had a bad bottle or something. I know lots of professional detailer's like that product tho. I'm just a big fan of gyeon for maintenance. And carpro obviously because I sell elixir 👍
@@reedfrank2232 no but I'm positive it will work over Evo. I have done enough ceramic and just know that's going to work especially because skin and exo are pretty similar.
This was just the video I was looking for. We're getting my wife's new SUV paint corrected and then coated with Gtechniq Exo Ultra. I'm assuming regarding a ceramic-safe car wash product that their Gtechniq - W4 foaming soap would be a good alternative to the 3 you listed. They have the W3 Ceramic wash too but make not real distinction on which I should use but simply going by the name seems like W3 would be the one to get?
So if I have been using bead maker on top of my ceramic coating and I'm getting streaks I'm sure you've seen before how would I remove bead maker coat without removing or damaging the ceramic coating layer
I have a gyeon ceramic coating on my car now. Every 3 months I'm planning to do a maintenance wash and use Cure at the end of that wash to provide a ceramic boost. Should I and or can I use Gyron Prep before I apply Cure? I am going to pre-wash with Gyeon Foam or CarPro Lift. Then hand wash with car pro reset. Wasn't sure if using prep would help or hurt
I wouldn't use prep. If you want to apply something like exo every year I'd prep before that. I'd try to wash more frequently than 3 months intervals. Try every month if your driving a lot. 3 months is ok for weekend cars not really being driven much
I’ve watched this video too many times to count. Thanks for the info. I’ve been doing coatings for about 8 months professionally and even though I’m a certified installer of P&S coatings, I can’t bring myself to like Bead Maker. I also install GTechniq coatings and love C2v3 and use Carpro Reload when I just do an exterior detail. Would either of these be a better option in your expert opinion?
Hey Chris. Im glad the video has helped! What would you like me to make a video on that could help you and your business. Like guides like this? I'd recommend cure or reload 2.0. c2v3 is ok to but not my favorite. Hydro or wetcoat are also super awesome!!
@@STATUSDETAIL Thanks for the info. Now I gotta figure out what to do with this gallon of Bead Maker. I’d be interesting in knowing how the conversation goes with customers that don’t keep up with the maintenance on their coated vehicles. It hasn’t happened yet but I see it as inevitable. After every coating has cured I bring the car back for a post-coating inspection and I give a maintenance wash tutorial to be sure that customers know what products to use and how to safely wash their cars. I’ve reached out to my last coating customer multiple times about bringing his car back in just to make sure the coating is performing as it should be and for the maintenance tutorial but it has been to no avail. Hi I was going to get my car ceramic coated with GYEON - Q² Syncro EVO Kit and do a maintenance topper with the wet coat. How often would I need to do the wet coat for more extreme conditions. Thanks Will
The interesting thing about wetcoat is it's crazy fast and easy to apply. You don't need very much and many people end up having it over s year. But it actually tends to go bad if it sits that long. So you can use it monthly but Likly throw it away at years end. Or use it every wash generously and use all of it. You can't really over use it. That is a great product to use for maintenance 👍👍
I'm kind confuse with all the toppers, sealant, booster, and detailer on the market. I really want to know which product should I use after my weekly or biweekly car wash and every 3 or 6 months medium level maintenance.
Great question and totally easy to get lost in the options! Weekly I'd use wetcoat or hydro! Every 3-6 I'd use q2 wax and cure together. In general use cure whenever you want. Every year I'd recommend applying exo again. It's fast easy and very diy approachable. Ultimately if you want to keep this simple. Use wetcoat weekly bi weekly. Exo annually. Or bi annual.
Question. As for maintenance of ceramic. If you used Gtechniq exo v5 would you use v4 as a maintenance topper or keep using v5. Only asking because v5 was designed for one coat only
@@Buildinup6 I do multiple coats of v5. You can totally use V4 and V5 interchangeably. V4 is in my opinion more difficult to apply That's the only drawback. Technically speaking V5 I think is a better coating overall and is better hydrophobic characteristics. But if you have a leftover bottle definitely use it up and put it on top of your V5 for maintenance
Won't hurt. I'd do a pre foam like lift once a month or a few times a year depending how much driving you do and if it's outside all the time. The extra deep clean is never a bad idea
my car is in the curing process. I understand to wipe off bird poo or bug splatter with hot water or a ceramic spray during the period. but what about bee poo (the small yellow orange dots). should I wipe that or leave until my first wash? is it worth the contact....
In general whether you're in the caring process or it's been 3 months since it was coded the best way to clean off any kind of contamination like that is going to be a pressure wash it off and then blow dry I also really like the IK former so if you spray the foam on there and let it sit it'll basically dissolve everything and then you can wipe it off very gently
Hello beautiful video ... what do you think of C2V3 from GTECHNIC . I will put a cristal serum ultra by a professional on my BMW .. you would put it every how much washing Thank you . I'm french and i love your vidéo
I believe it will work well enough but it's not what I would recommend. I'd recommend bathe. Reset. Gsf and or adding gyeon foam or carpro lift when needed. Bathe + and carpro hydro soap are also notable
I’ve used Gyeon MOHS and SKIN recently , come a year , do you think I could use EXO v5 as a topper? Or stay with Gyeon and use wax or can coat? Thanks in advance
Hi! Very informative video! I hate two questions for you, you just said to use Lift not too often, so what do you use as prewash in foam gun, Reset or? Also, I’m about to apply Gyeon Pure Evo on my car and I would like to apply Q2 Wax at least 14 days later as a topper but a lot of people said it’s not a good idea, I see you have a completely different opinion on that, you totally suggest it?
If you want my current up-to-date opinion on these matters then I would use gtechnic citrus foam with g wash mixed into the same foam cannon for normal washes. You can split those between a phone step and a wash step if you feel like your car is really dirty then just do citrus foam first by itself. If you want my honest opinion I would use gtechnic exo v5 as your topper and skip gyeon wax all together. Id do crystal serum light as your base coat. Gtechniq ceramic is my preference over gyeon
New subscriber. Enjoy your videos. Very informative and educational! I coated my car with CSL a couple months ago, and recently coated my wife’s car with Gyeon Syncro EVO. I also applied C5 to the wheels on both cars. For maintenance I wash with GSF and Reset, and use Gyeon Cure/Ceramic Detailer and CarPRO HydrO2. My question has to do with annual maintenance. If I use EXO, will I need to do the same prep as I did for the initial coating? My concern would be that I’d prep too far and strip the coating. Both cars have PPF as well. Thanks!
Hi Robert! Thanks for checking out my vids and subing to the channel!! All awesome products listed so your doing a great job!! When you reapply exo just do a solid in depth wash. Then use gyeon prep or carpro eraser to ensure the surface is totally clean. Then apply exo. If the surface seems totally perfect you can skip the Gyeon prep step. If your concern is about polishing out light imperfections that's a little more in depth of an issue. Basically you do a fast light polish with low abrasive products. But I could write a paper on this part so I'll leave it at that for now lol.
I just purchased a new car and had Crystalcoat by Simoniz applied to it and was told it was a ceramic coating. Are all these products you talk about in the video good for this ceramic covering on my car?
All the products in my video will work on a y car with it without ceramic but will benefit cars with ceramic the most. The coating you have is not my favorite. But you can certainly follow this guide to make your car look great long term
@@STATUSDETAIL yeah I didn’t do any research on the coating but it was very convenient to have some coating applied before I drove it off the lot. The dealer also talked about the coating guarantee which sounds good maybe too good but he showed me the coating insurance and what it covered and it looked good. I plan to really take care of this car so I’ve been doing research on how to wash and keep the ceramic coat looking good and remain intact. Which is how I found your video. I’ve watched other videos and they rave about P&S beadmaker and how it’s great for ceramic coated cars and I almost ordered some until I came across your video. Thanks for the quick response and information
Touchless is a fantastic start. I'm going to make a video on this literal topic! But the idea is a touchless wash then pull into a garage if you have it and finish up with a ik foamer and ceramic Detailer. You can also do a coin operated self serve wash and then drive home and dry the rest of the water off and apply something like cure. Ideally you do this on a day above 40° maybe even 50 if you're lucky. If it's above freezing you can do a full wash in your driveway if you're prepared to be a little bit cold. In a case like this I wouldn't skip any steps I would do a full normal wash with all the normal products.
amazing video, i just wanted to ask that i recently got my car ceramic coated and iam waiting 10 days for the coat to settle, but in the meantime i drove the car 2 times in dusty conditions and now the car is dirty, do i need to be worried that the dust would somehow damage the ceramic coating ? iam worried the coating might not settle the way it should as the car is dusty now. i applied gyeon Q2 MOHS on my car . pls help
@@STATUSDETAIL man thanks a lot, but now whats giving me the anxiety is, that i got my car coated with MOHS, brought it home and what i saw on my bonnet was a big bird poop and some dead small insects 😂 i was new to this coating era and what i did is i took a damp cloth and gently rubbed it off, but it sat there for like 2 hours on my freshly coated car. now when i get my first wash done, should i also apply gyeon cure as iam worried the acid might have damaged it, i felt the yellowish tint didnt go away even after i gently rubbed the bird dropping off.
@@arsalanazhar3340 without seeing it. It does sound like you basically handled that correctly. Cure or wetcoat over it is a great idea. Worst case scenario your detailer can spot polish the bird poo problem area and blend ceramic back in. I'd do that for free on a freak accident type thing like that. Not everyone is as nice as me tho lol
@@STATUSDETAIL man thanks a lot for replying. just one last question , soe for maintenance, i should get a ph neutral shampoo , good microfibre cloths, and gyeon cure once every 1.5-2 months, and that would be all to protect my coating over long period of time ?
@@arsalanazhar3340 basically that's correct. But of course many situations could change your wash process. Like hitting fresh tar or having horrible hard water from a concrete parking deck dripping water. But yes. Good soap. Dry properly. And apply a ceramic based sealant
Only if needed. Iron remover is kinda like clay. I call it chemical clay vs clay bar being mechanical clay. We only clay a car if it needs it. So rough surface or looks to have iron contamination in it. As a general practice if you drive a lot and car sits outside you can iron remover one or two times a year usually. Depends where you live and how the car is being used.
Can you dilute down the cure? It would be great to have one product at different dilution rations to be a ceramic spray, a quick detailer and a drying aid
That's a great question. Especially because some detailers like to dilute cure! Some people swear by diluting it because it makes it slightly less prone to streaking. If you want maximum durability and water beading you want to use it straight. But diluting it definitely works and gives you better value.
a few questions how do you feel about the following products- P&S Absolute, Adams Shampoo, Turtle Wax Hybrid ceramic? I have these on hand are they any good
Turtle wax hybrid ceramic seems ok from video I have seen on it. I don't recommend any of those and don't offer them or generally like a y of the products those brands make.
Thanks for the great content.... Would you drop Geyon Cure and sub in CarPro Reload v 2.0? I'm using Reset for my bi-weekly washes, Lift for 4/year decon pre-wash, Wet once a month and Cure every wash. Should I change up Cure for Reload V2?
Lift every 4 years? If I'm understanding that correctly. Use lift more often lol. Like every 6 months maybe but depends how car is being used. I use citrus foam every wash. That's like lift. But I use citrus foam and g wash. Like 3 oz each Into one foam cannon round. I separate the steps tho if the car is a disaster. Cure. Reload 2.0 both great. Use what you like best. I've been using gtechniq C2 recently. But still a fan of cure and reload. No wrong options as long as you have a system including one of them. Thank you for watching 🙂
Hi. Thanks for the response and I apologize for the confusion. I’m using Lift 4x/year. Post winter snow storm+salt/early spring are the big ones. I love using it when the car is super dirty and a pre-wash is needed. Interesting use of g wash and citrus foam! I never let my car become a disaster but the wife’s car……..When my Cure runs out I’ll give Reload a try. Thanks for the gtechniq option too. Take care.
I have seen comparisons between EXO and Gyeon Pure as toppers, and Pure outlasted EXO in most of them, based on hydrophobicity and chemical resistance. Any reason you use EXO for your maintenance topper instead of Pure? I know you use Gyeon a lot, so just curious for a knowledge bomb on this subject, thanks much!
For starters pure is a base coat and exo is chemically designed to bond to crystal serum light or crystal serum ultra(top coat). People just make the mistake of using exo as a base coat. It can be a base coat but I don't recommend that. Pure is actually one of my most hated coatings and products of all time. The application is atrocious. It's like spreading honey on your car and then trying to remove it with dry microfibers. Mohs Evo is a pretty good product and I have a video uploaded and scheduled for that. Actually doing a little durability test series on it. Exo is effortless to apply and you really don't use much so it's easy to layer and if you have multiple cars to do it will go a long way. We use exo as a ceramic sacrificial layer. Designed to be reapplied at your maintenance details to ensure maximum water beading all the time. If we polish light marks out exo goes back on. Basically always protecting the base coat. The same system works of you do mohs Evo base coat and top with exo or do syncro Evo. Syncro has mohs and skin. Skin is gyeon version of exo
@@albo9122 As far as I know you can, but it would perform best on other Gtechniq products. If you want to do that I would recommend getting your hands on the newly released EXO V5
Can you gelp me out with the steps required before maintenance coating with EXO? I already ceramic coated it last year and want to do the maintenance coating. Just wondering if it’s just a regular wash and panel wipe? Iron remover, clay bar? Thanks in advance.
If the paint feels as it did when it had fresh ceramic then you will wash. Gyeon Prep. Apply. If it feels really gritty like sand paper then likely needs clay. If you see it in build up use some iron decon. If you have some light swirls a fast light polish will act into od like mild clay and also remove light swirls. Especially after polish id apply heavy coat of exo. Using a string soap like Gyeon foam or carpro lift at strong dilution is a good idea. Products like Gyeon restart can be helpful too. I hope this helps!
Theoretically yes. Also all soaps technically degrade wax and sealant protection slowly. But reset is a normal gentle car soap. Something like descale or iron x soap will definitely hit durability significantly. I think the name reset confuses people because they think it's going to fully remove everything on the car and reset it. What it really means is that it's putting you back to perfect like when you picked your car up fresh from ceramic coating.
Polished depends on the situation in the car. I actually did not like C2 for a long time but recently retried it and now I kind of love it. It's kind of like my drying aid when I'm finishing up after a wash.
@@STATUSDETAIL So in the scenario you dont polish Exo still bonds well after a good decon with iron removal? And I just dont want to clog up my drying towels if I used it as a drying aid is my only concern.
@@ArthurMSoto yeah it'll definitely bond the discussion just becomes about durability depending on what the surface conditions are. But it will bond either way.
Question: I use CarPro Reset soap and recently got CarPro Reload 2.0. I washed, air dried with an air cannon, and applied Reload 2.0. Can I use HydrO2 before air drying and then Reload 2.0 after, or are they redundant? Also, my car felt like it had contaminants when applying the Reload 2.0. Can I clay a ceramic-coated car? My car also has full-body PPF; does that change anything?
@@Jason00331 great questions. You can use hydro during the rinse and then reload like a drying aid after blow dry. I do this often. If I want a fast wash or the car is still silly hydrophobic I skip hydro. I use hydro on wheels basically every wash tho. You can clay a ceramic coated car. You can clay PPF but it won't always work as well. When using clay on actual paint that's coated you risk potential swirls. I like to clay when I know I'm going to polish after. But sometimes you need to clay and it won't make sense to polish after as this would degrade the ceramic. It should be pretty difficult to swirl your PPF. But contamination often digs into the PPF and won't be removed as easily as clear coat contamination. It will probably work just fine but without a car in front of me I can't say for sure. I hope this was helpful 🙂
@@STATUSDETAIL Thanks a bunch for this super helpful info! I have one more question though. I’m thinking of adding ironX to my car care routine, maybe every 2-3 months. I know how to use it for the tires, but I’m not sure when to apply it to the body of the car. Should I do it during the rinse, after it’s dried, or somewhere else? Haha, I’m a bit confused. Thanks again for your help!
@@Jason00331 That's also a good question and I think you'll find lots of different answers on the internet. I like to wash the car and get all the dirt off. If your car is hydrophobic like it sounds yours is I would do a really express fast blow dry and then put iron x on. I prefer to have direct contact with no water in the way when possible. In general that's a product you should use as needed so if you do it in 3 months and it turns the car purple then do it again in 3 months. Even that follow up 6 months in wash it doesn't turn purple then you might just be doing it too often so then go to every four or five or six months intervals etc. Iron x is strong and like clay. Use when needed not for fun or on a routine unless you know your getting heavy build up and that routine is combating the constant buildup. Good examples would be cars that are parked outside on extremely busy streets or in general doing a lot of miles.
Definitely! I do that pretty often but you can use it as a Every like 3 or 6 month process too. Full blown maintenance would be like thin coat of exo v5 too
Same guide 👍 The main stuff you skip when you have PPF is any polishing steps I ever talk about. You can polish PPF but think it's kind of tricky It should be its own video.
If you use a wash bay that you operate the pressure washer and use our own towels and wash pad that's a great option. Fully touchlesd car wash can be ok..but not great. You can always have a bucket with your basics. Drying towel. Soap. Wash pad. Wetcoat. Go to a 20-50 dollar hand wash place. Give them your stuff and say do the wash. That avoids the towels they used on 40000 cars before yours. Now your just paying for labor basically.
It's shocking how few detailing channels never explain in simple language how to maintain a ceramic coat including ALL the big ones.

Nothing wrong with using Gyeon Wet Coat on top of a ceramic coating.
Glad to hear that! Sounds like a great process 👍
Problem is, how do you know original ceramic coating is still present if you consistantly "top" it up?
@kevinlewington4762 because of the way water behaves on the surface if I 'haven't got around' to doing it (ie feel a little lazy or time poor when washing. If that's what my retailer recommended to extend the life of the coating then I'll do it.

Enjoy your new car 🙂
Glad you have a system you like 👍

This is by far the most informative and honest video I've seen on ceramic coating maintenance, and I've watched a LOT recently, especially from some of the bigger channels (PTO)
Question: you recommended against using bead maker, what about their dream maker?

I learned a lot. Thank you. Can the same products be used on PPF? My nose is PPF coated and the rest ceramic. Thx
Great question. Yes it's all safe on PPF 👍👍
Good info man. I have three of my vehicles coated. One with armour shield, one with Ethos Matrix graphene, and one with CSL and Exo. I very happy with all three so far.
Love it! Ceramic is awesome! What's your go to for maintenance product's out of curiosity?
Thanks for sharing. Wanted your opinion on how to remove & reapply a new ceramic coating. I was going to clay bar it with a soft/medium clay bar and gyeon detailers spray, then wax it & gyeon prep to remove any oils left over. The reapply ceramic coating .
Everything you said was about right but you definitely don't want to wax it then ceramic coat it.
After the clay I'd recommend a light polish on the car. Something with mild abrasive. Then gyeon prep. Then your new ceramic.
@@STATUSDETAIL sonax good? Thanks 👍

Great video! Very informative!
Could you make a video on Nasiol products?
@@jugalbrahmbhatt9160 never heard of that. Is it sold in USA?
Thanks for this video! I am that guy that put wax on top of my coating. What is the best way to remove the wax and start over topping my coating?
The wax is going to debond automatically so it's not going to stay on very long.
If it's already been a few weeks and at least one wash it's probably already gone.
If you use a strong soap like car pro lift or gyeon foam and then follow that with a normal car soap I would say you'll probably strip most of that wax off
Gyeon replied to my question if Q2 wax is a ceramic based sealant. Their answer was” carnauba based wax infused with fluorine”
Fluorine is real ceramic. It's what was in gyeon booster there ceramic top coat before they discontinued it.
@@STATUSDETAIL similar with Soft 99 Fusso coat?
@@DilutionRatioOfficial not sure on that one. To my knowledge gyeon was one of the only of not the the only company using flourine in ceramic or now in "wax"
Mohs Evo has flourine combined into the formula too.
Yes👍
Cure can be used as drying aid after blow dry or just as a spray wipe wax after drying.
Prep is used to remove residue. That's it's main job. You should not need it before every cure application unless for example you did a wash with tar remover. Then I might want prep to really ensure I got everything off residue wise
Preps main intended use is to remove polishing residue. So after paying correction you would use prep. Prep makes the surface completely perfect and clean of any residue or chemicals and then you can apply ceramic or sealant
Awesome! Thank you .

If you do the steps correctly and work small areas I think the average diy perstxan install ceramic. Just dont try to install two doors at same time. Do one door or even half a door
@STATUSDETAIL currently i just use the turtle wax ceramic spray coating, the result is good but can be better ..
@@DerickHo yes ceramic will blow your mind if that's what your use to
@@STATUSDETAIL but do you think hand polish is ok for ceramic coating?
If you build up a lot of iron or hit fresh tar then obviously they will be great
Thanks for watching and shopping my store!!
The more you polish the more you remove of.the ceramic and eventually you remove it all
If your ok with recoating the car after then polish the laiito your desired level then coat it.

Amazing video! I just ceramic coated my car with Gyeon Mohs Evo. The result is amazing but now I am wondering how to maintain it best. Thinking of buying Gyeon Bathe+, Wetcoat and Cure. You can use carpro or gyeon. And reload 2.0 is great!

5. Wash with a good quality mitt with Carpro Reset or Gyeon Bathe or CFX GSF
6. Rinse
7. Dry
8. Apply Carpro Reload or Gyeon Cure

question, just added a ceramic coating last week.

You basically answered all your own questions 👍
Reset bathe Canon should be used regularly.

Great info as always! Question: I have Crystal Serum Ultra applied in November 2018, 1st year I took it in for its lovely $250 coating maintenance detail and the last 2 years I’ve been doing it myself since I find washing and cleaning the vehicles therapeutic and cheaper than seeing a therapist. 🤣. I’ve been using C2v3 after that maintenance wash and I use it every 3-4 months and normally use Elixir as a drying aid, Wetcoat or another product on rims usually. My question basically is should I have used EXO after that annual maintenance wash? The lower portion of the vehicle does take a beating thanks to Chicagoland winters.

Citrus foam and g wash are both very good. I've been using them recently actually and about to release into my store too 👍
So if I have been using bead maker on top of my ceramic coating and I'm getting streaks I'm sure you've seen before how would I remove bead maker coat without removing or damaging the ceramic coating layer
You can wash with a string soap. Something like carpro lift.
You can also try gyeon prep.

The interesting thing about wetcoat is it's crazy fast and easy to apply. You don't need very much and many people end up having it over s year. But it actually tends to go bad if it sits that long.
So you can use it monthly but Likly throw it away at years end. Or use it every wash generously and use all of it.

What's your opinion on Waxshine's Aquabead as a drying/rinse aid?
I have never heard of it actually!

@@STATUSDETAIL Appreciate it! ill just stick to my V5 then for maintenance.
Should I do CarPro Lift prior to re-applying Exo v5 annually? Aside from a panel wipe after - anything else before Exo?
In general whether you're in the caring process or it's been 3 months since it was coded the best way to clean off any kind of contamination like that is going to be a pressure wash it off and then blow dry
I also really like the IK former so if you spray the foam on there and let it sit it'll basically dissolve everything and then you can wipe it off very gently

@@arsalanazhar3340 basically that's correct. But of course many situations could change your wash process. Like hitting fresh tar or having horrible hard water from a concrete parking deck dripping water.
But yes. Good soap. Dry properly. And apply a ceramic based sealant
If I’m going to put a layer of exo on my car like your saying for a yearly maintenance do I have to use iron remover then apply exo over it?
@@STATUSDETAIL I wonder if you could add a touch to Bathe to create a Bathe+
@@ChannelBri I don't recommend that.
But if you did try I'd mix it bathe and wetcoat
@@STATUSDETAIL yes, probably best to just use wetcoat after, super easy.
@@ChannelBridude checkout bathe+ - it has wet coat properties in it

@@STATUSDETAIL most definitely!
a few questions how do you feel about the following products- P&S Absolute, Adams Shampoo, Turtle Wax Hybrid ceramic?
Take care.
@@FL34O oh gotcha. Yea that's perfect.
My pleasure 🙂
Is Carpro Reload inorganic Spray Sealant a good option to use after drying the car?
Yes definitely! Reload is great! Cure works too. You can use elixir or ceramic detailer from Gyeon too
I have seen comparisons between EXO and Gyeon Pure as toppers, and Pure outlasted EXO in most of them, based on hydrophobicity and chemical resistance.
@@STATUSDETAIL ok great thanks for the education! Keep it coming!
@@larrysing my pleasure 🙂👍
Can you use exo over other brand ceramic coating? My car has a System X base coat but I would like to use a topper like exo
@@STATUSDETAIL thanks so much!! Love your videos. Watching your ZL1 Camaro week long detail now. Thanks again.

Car pro reset won’t break down the q2 wax every wash? 19:54
Ever tried gtechniq c2 spray sealant as a topper? Also, are you doing a light polish before adding Exo or just iron decon then applying?
Polished depends on the situation in the car. I actually did not like C2 for a long time but recently retried it and now I kind of love it. It's kind of like my drying aid when I'm finishing up after a wash.
@@STATUSDETAIL So in the scenario you dont polish Exo still bonds well after a good decon with iron removal? And I just dont want to clog up my drying towels if I used it as a drying aid is my only concern.
@@ArthurMSoto yeah it'll definitely bond the discussion just becomes about durability depending on what the surface conditions are. But it will bond either way.
Question:
I use CarPro Reset soap and recently got CarPro Reload 2.0.
@@STATUSDETAIL thank you!
@@Jason00331 🙂👍👍🤝🤝
So, wet coat during rising and cure afterwards is a good way to do maintnance?
Definitely! I do that pretty often but you can use it as a Every like 3 or 6 month process too. Full blown maintenance would be like thin coat of exo v5 too
Hi. If car is on PPF and there is ceramic coating ON TOP OF PPF, do i still follow your maintenance guide? Or is it diff from car with ppf?
Same guide 👍
The main stuff you skip when you have PPF is any polishing steps I ever talk about. You can polish PPF but think it's kind of tricky It should be its own video.
I had my car ceramic coated with 3D ceramic coating. How would you rate this product and would it be compatible with Exo?
@@wilbertflores8486 I'm not familiar with that product. But exo can be installed on top of virtually any ceramic base coat

MINT car wash ok? I can't wash at home :( I can do the wash bays though
Gyeon is the best❤❤❤❤
