  • Loving these new Foundry Reserve & Byzance cymbals and Evans Strata 1000 heads. They're orchestral heads but still the usual 10-mil, single-ply and they sound a little bit more natural than the UV1.
    Drums are Pearl Maple/Gum:
    18 kick, 12, 14, 16 toms
    14x5 MCC Solid Cherry snare
    Cymbals L to R:
    18" Matt Garstka Fat Stack
    22" Foundry Reserve Light Ride
    15" Foundry Reserve Hats
    22" Byzance Monophonic Ride
    21" Byzance Nuance Ride
    20" Byzance Extra Thin Hammered Crash
    Sticks are Pro Mark Steve Ferrone model.
    Mics:
    Earthworks DM20 on snare and toms
    SR25's for OH
    SR20LS on kick
    2x TC20's up above drums for room mics

    As a Jazz drummer myself, that was an excellent use of a press role, along with singles ,flams, etc. very nice interpretation Louie.

      The Mclean shuffle.

      @@clout1207 Wasn't a shuffle. That groove goes back to the '60s and Carter Mclean might play that kind of groove a lot but he definitely didn't "invent" it. lol

    Great playing. I love the strata heads, really think they are under rated / lesser known by a lot of players.

    Really like the more natural, 'in the room' type of sound. How do you find the 18" bass drum compares to a 20" or 22"?

    • @jaimetauler9958
      @jaimetauler9958 2 роки тому

      It's a little smaller, and sometimes a tiny bit higher in pitch, but if you tune it right it sounds as good as any other bass drum.

    Hey Louie! Awesome drumming as usual! Greetings from Brazil! Is this lick at 2:47 a group of 10 notes?

    Hello Louie, you demonstrate great drumming as always! What are the headphones you are using? Are they good in terms of sound insulation to your ears?

    beautiful playing.
    I see you are using a remote pedal that allows you to play the hi-hat on the right side and avoid cross over -- makes perfect sense, but I've never seen that before. what kind of pedal set up do you have for that??
    Did you also have to cut down the length of the hi hat rod to not interfere with your ride cymbal?

    • @louiepalmerdrums

      Thanks! It's the Pearl remote hi-hat stand...works great and no I don't have to cut anything down.

    Great sounding Meinl 22" Monophonic ride cymbal. Would you happen to know how many grams this is. Thanks.

  • @andyham6094
    @andyham6094 3 роки тому

    Thats not a foundry reserve ride as his main ride next to the nuance ride, looks like a monophonic ride. Foundry reserves aren’t byzance. Got that wrong in the description.
