Everyone talks about Stickerbush Symphony, but I believe this is the masterpiece of DKC2. David Wise even said himself that this is his favorite track from this game. It's kinda amazing that this was on a SNES, and the restoration makes it sound even more amazing.
I like the way you ended it, by the way.

I agree. Stickbrush Symphony is okay but I ALWAYS thought this song was better constructed and gave a lot more of an ambient feel. It even uses birds in the percussion.

@@YophiSmith Stickerbrush is amazing but the humble feeling of this song is just crazy. The bird sounds drive it home I love music that can paint a picture on its own even without the context of the game its from.

I think it depends a bit on one's mood, I personally like to see this as Stickerbush Symphony's little brother - I can listen to SS anytime and this one 99/100 times and mining melanchony 98/100. Then again it doesn't matter what the majority of DK fans like's- what we all acknowledge is that DKC has awesome soundtrack produced by the man himself and that in itself is a quite a feet for a game produced on the snes by western producers.

When programming music with on board chips, the samples are first compiled into a library and then written in the game data and called directly from the chip on demand. Mothers collect their young and snuggle close to them; keeping them dry from the pattering rain. The loud and lively parrots and monkeys/apes begin to head for the trees to rest. But, even then, the jungle is not still…it never is… it’s the nocturnal animals’ turn to go on with their day. And that’s when 0:40 hits! Truly one of the best Dk and dare I say SNES tracks! I wish we had this for more games.
Remixes and covers are great and all, but hearing the original, clean, uncompressed music the way it was first composed is so much more satisfying.

I don't recall where I saw the interview, but I think it was one of the game developers that explained the purpose of this level, and the calming music was in a sense of to relax the player because this level came after the first somewhat difficult level. Rare was a top tier studio during the 90s and had great music to, their follow up game killer instinct had its own soundtrack packed in with the game called Killer Cuts.

So, play outside for a little. Take a bike ride down town maybe. Come back, mid afternoon sometime. Decide to go to friend's house from the block. Play this game for hours. Parents call me in for dinner time. Go outside at night ajd play manhunt or hide and seek.
