Which only a true artist can achieve. He captured the fun of music vs mining, in a song about mining. Blows the mind. Almost like he knew how to write music.
As a kid I thought the background vocal harmonies were the sounds of the bees buzzing to the music. Hearing the restored vocals really changes a lot. Incredible.
I don't think any of the Donkey Kong Country games had vocal samples, it was all SNES instrument trickery. Even the laugh that you heard from some enemies and Krool.
@@myhandleiswhat wrong, snes sound chips uses samples, extremly compressed and tiny ones, but samples nonethelessm for example, the opening theme of Tales of Phantasia is full vocalized, it's the largest game in memory size for the snes.

I love how Rare recycled the “Clanks and Chimes” from Misty Menace to use as part of the Intro. Always a great job carrying elements out from sequel to sequel.
Also David Wise used the Cart Landing SFX sound from the First game to represent the sound of pickaxes mining. Truly lives up to the "Wise" in his name.
Most underrated song in the whole series. Stickerbush Symphony is better, but this one is so catchy, and NO ONE can remix it properly! Thank you so much for remastering one of my favorite songs in the DKC series!
I’m not sure it’s worth trying to rate them. Maybe better to appreciate them as top form of David Wise. Stickerbrush, this song, treetops, many songs among the DKC soundtracks are really excellent. It’ll probably drive you crazy trying to rate them against each other.
I made a remix of this song sometime ago I made it in like 2 hours, its in my channel if you wanna hear it, and I can say that its quite difficult to remix xd
Wow amazing job Jammin's Sam! When I was a kid I was always singing this and now sounds so clear and beautiful. Good old memories will never die and not even more with this piece of magic restoration. Bravo amigo, saludos!
This feels like how it was truly meant to sound. Love the original, but I wonder if this is what it would have sounded like if they were able to push beyond the SNES limitations back then.
I mean to my knowledge they already did push the snes as far as it could go back then. they apparently caused town power outings because of how much they were pushing the limits of the tech
Holy fuck dude you KILLED IT! This sounds like the original in every way that matters, but also sounds SO MUCH BETTER due to your expert work. I was like "Damn why does this sound better than the original game somehow?!" and then I read the description and it made sense. I'll definitely donate when I can.
This song is what made me fall in love with videogame ost, listen to it again restored is amazing and I always come back here or to the Og when I need to hear something good
A high quality and extended take of this! THANK YOU! This was such a great song. I remember humming and doing the vocals for this as a little kid on the swingset. It just stuck in my head and the choir vocals were just so amazing to me. Between this and Stickerbrush Symphony, this game's music blew me away as a kid. Aquatic Ambiance from DKC1 also. Just such fantastic pieces of music that instilled in me a lifelong love. THANKS again!!
É nois meu mano donkey Kong foi meu primeiro jogo jamais vou esquecer dessa obra de arte,me emociono ao lembrar dos tempos de criança quando eu jogava essa relíquia 🇧🇷❤️❤️❤️🥺
i love these restorations but honestly, and this is the first time im saying this so far, i think this piece works better with the snes compression. it does a better job of hiding the voices and blending it down to sound more like the buzzing of a zinger, which is one of my favorite parts of the piece, and having it just sound like a choir of "ooh"s kinda ruins that aspect. everything else is good but i always felt that was a super important part of the piece and i guess the compression really works in the piece's favor in that aspect
I thought differently. They ARE the song. The clanging and banging is their pickaxes and hammers, working away the stone. The humming is a song all of them sing at once because there’s nothing else to do. The Kremlings are known to be mistreated by their king, so who knows how long they’ve been down here, away from water, away from home, away from their families? Just working away at the stone, again and again, day after day. Maybe this place is even a prison of sorts, a labor camp for Kremlings who upset their king. They sleep at night among the rats and in the dirt, just a short few hours of solace from the long days of work that they are forced to do.
Ive worked underground as a miner for over 10 years now and i can say playing this game as a kid was alot more fun than the real thing.
