It's insane how before the Challeger accident they pretty much wore pajamas as space suits
It is just a reflection. It's not behind the ship, it's a reflection over everything, both the ship and the black area behind it. Slow it down and go full screen. Look only at the portion of the screen with the ship. Hold your hand over the dark area. You can see movement over the area of the ship. It's fainter since it's a reflection over a white lit up ship, but it's there
you can pause it and clearly see the figure is behind a black portion of the"space craft"

I'm old enough to remember CRT TV sets. When you stand in front of them with light shining on your face(like you would if you were giving a presentation) your reflection shows up on the TV screen.
Cant be behind something that's in the frame clearly showing its not a reflection.

The shuttle was designed for those blue suits. After challenger, sts-51L, they started wearing pressure and rescue suits.

The face is very clearly a reflection of astronaut Dale Gardner, it can be seen that the reflection also "blends in" the white structure of the Space Shuttle. It's stated at 2:43 that Dale was monitoring the camera that filmed the deployment of INSAT-1B.

It's a reflection in the window. You can see the lower part of the face in the bay as well. Seriously. This is like UFOs. There is an explanation for about 95%. the rest are unexplained. This is easily explained. There is no man in space and it is NOT a model. This guy is inside the SS and his reflection is caught on camera.-

They had a camera facing out the window as seen at 2:38. At 3:35 you see a guys reflection. If you keep watching you will see more reflections to the right of the screen. Mystery solved.

The light reflected off the earth is so bright that you can't see the stars. The same way you can't see stars as well in a lit-up city as you can out in the country.
