Great video, Sir! I painted the Valve covers, fuel and water rail, intake manifold, and exhaust heat shield with Rustoleum Bar-B-Que paint. Still looks great after 18 years. That new Jaguar sticker looked great when I first put it on, but darkened from engine heat within a month.
I’ve found in the comments the fact that you didn’t use high temperature paint. It’s now been sometime on and I would appreciate knowing if the ‘normal’ paint has endured? Any problems with heat affectation? I’m about to undertake the same exercise and this would be comforting to know.
Great vid! Did you replace the cam cover gaskets and/or did you use any sealant before bolting it back on? Also, did you use a specific torque setting when putting them back on?
I did not. It doesn't really get that hot and normal paint works. Issue with a lot of high temp paint is that it doesn't cure until it gets hot. It becomes difficult to sand the ribs then. Thank you for watching!
I was about to ask the same Question until I seen your reply I’ve got an XJ6 4.2L and I’m doing my this week and have watched this video more than once and was wondering the same but know I guess I’ll be buying normal spray paint and great video awesome job 👍🏻
@@LivingWithAClassic Be careful with a 96 XJS with the AJ16 engine. The Cam cover is made of Magnesium and needs more careful treatment because of the nature of magnesium.
Waste of time video, you should have used paint stripper, then sanded everything, then polished the ribbing, then masked it and painted, then clear coated.

Proper care of a car includes an immaculate engine bay.
Very true!
Thank you! Great content. I’ll be doing this to my XJC
What a very satisying result. That engine will be a work of art 👍
where did you get the stickers from ?
like the high speed hand technique
Well done video - can you supply us with the type of primer and paint that you used.
That looks really nice, especially the cam covers! The two tone effect looks great!
Thank you Blair! It's starting to look really nice now that I'm bolting it all on
Really nice work Adam. You have me so excited to return working on my '87 XJS this Spring!

Well done again. Did you use high température paint ?

Thank you Andre!
Excellent video, many thnaks.
Thank you for watching
Well done!
I would like to know where the third fuel pump is located at on a 95 Jaguar XJ 12
Have you done this on aj16?
Yes I have. Same procedure and it turned out really well
Can you tell me the three type of paint, please? Thanks
Great job! :-)
What should I do with my 96 XJS. (6 cyl)?
The covers are different
They can be painted in the same way and you can choose to polish the ribs or not. I've seen someone paint that one in a dark grey which looked cool
