Midwest wetlands. What can I say. There is a special feeling you get when stepping out here into a world you rarely see anywhere. The feel I got was one of "Land of the Dinosaurs." You can smell it. That musty, misty, leafy smell that can only be described as a damp, musty, fall leaves on the ground, and little dirt smell. I immediately got the feeling this land is known for. I could feel myself turning the corner and seeing an extinct Great Mastodon staring at me from the bogs. It is documented that this was the place the most current dated Mastodon remains were found. This was the location of the last Mastodons. This was awesome.
