I love these fundamentals videos. This one was super gratifying to watch, just because it was what I did. After I got into Tetris 99, I borrowed Puyo Puyo Tetris from a friend and have been doing 40 line sprint there. I'm consistently sub 2-min, and my PB is slowly reaching that 1:45 mark. It also made the Tetris part of PPT pretty trivial in difficulty, lmao. I don't really get Puyo Puyo yet, but it was funny to get the challenge to "clear ten lines in less than two minutes".
My first one took about 4:30 but I didn't look at any of the controls and was figuring it out as I went along. My second one was about 2:30 but I still don't like using a keyboard for Tetris, which is weird for me considering how many games I prefer using keyboard for.

You should go to Jstris, its a Tetris Client focused on Competitive play. The DAS and ARR are free and 100% customizable. It has a whole slew of modes and even a Tetris 99-like gamemode.
I usually only play marathon when I play solo tetris, and speed doesn't matter a lot in that mode. Regardless, my 40 line sprint average is a bit lower than 1:50, possibly 1:40, and I still manage to get lower than 50th place in half the matches I play. On marathon mode, my score was higher than over 99% of players on Tetris Friends, and my 2p Battle ranking was 14 (elite) before the service shut down. I'm a decent Tetris player, yet somehow I'm garbage at Tetris 99.
The problem I have with playing Sprint is that the keys you use are so different from the buttons on Tetris 99. I'm using three fingers on a keyboard to do the same thing only one thumb does in Tetris 99. I find myself fumbling with the keys when transitioning from one game to the other. But I can see how playing Sprint can teach you a lot about the game in general. I wish Tetris 99 would come out with it's own practice mode.
