There is a notch in the bottom of the tensioner that lines up with hole used to place a small rod/drill bit backwards to retain the tensioner cocked position
My 2012 ML350 is making a squeaking noise when started in cold weather and I was told to replace the housing cover with coupling. The vacuum plate on the back of the right cylinder head is causing the noise. Is this the same thing or different?
Hey man, have an e350 that was leaking from oil filter housing. Bought the whole oil filter housing and thermostat housing from Mercedes. As I was bleeding coolant system, there is now oil in the coolant reservoir. Any ideas ??
Thanx Brian, again. The oil cooling seals on the Merc, SW221 is a different engine combination as you had mentioned. Its a V engine. However, your video did open the door, to the foundation!!
Colin Aglae that model comes with quite a few different engine combinations. If it's the same engine it's pretty much the same job. If it's A different engine it can be very different.
@@RothBeyondTheGrave yeah i did the job last month and i didnt need to change the oil. Oil dropped from top of dipstick to half. So about a quart or so
This is great information for a DIYer like myself but I just don't have enough time and/or some of the proper tools. My shop wants to charge me $430 for everything including an oil and coolant change.
Man I for got how the bolts is go back cause it’s not the same length , I keeping look for the videos how the bolts go back on which holes , but it suck man nobody show that where the bolts go back , they just put back no show on the videos

I have to say this video is the best one I've seen, very thorough, detailed, helpful, clear and the best of all. Thanks Brain for posting this one.
Great, helpful video and tips (like keeping track of the different bolts because of length). Good to see what fluids need to be drained too.
Darin Weeks glad you like the video and it was helpful. Thank you for watching!
Hi there, do you have to remove the power steering reservoir?
what tipped tool did you use to unscrew the screws, thank you

very useful. and very clear
it ended up being the only video i needed to perform a few tasks on my car
thank you
Great video Brian. Can you tell me what size torx I will need for this job?
Can't remember exactly which are which, but if you have an e10, e12, and e14 you should be good. Either T25 or T27 for oil cooler I believe
Thank you for the detailed Video! You saved me a lot of time! Cheers
I got a swepet screw, any ideas? 🥺
Nice vid. Is this a oil/coolant heat exchanger? Or just air cooling? Thanks 🙏
1. What was the mileage? 2. Why indy shops and dealer are opposed to redoing seals? They say it won’t hold. Seems odd...
You did great job and excellent video, thanks.
mohsen khanipour thank you and thank you for watching!
how different is the replacing the seals on Mercedes SW221...oil cooling seals!!

How much oil did you have to add after the job was done?
Should probably lose 1 qt give or take unless you do an oil change at the same time which would be a bit more thorough but not 100% necessary

Another great video....... are you sure there is a motor under all that? :)
Very informative video...
Colin Aglae thank you!
I broke one bolt from the cooler gasket. I was trying to torq at 10 ft lb. torq spec is 8.85 ft lb. be careful
Once again, you saved me lots of money. Thank you. :-)
Oscar Monge always glad to hear that I save someone money.. thank you for watching!

That sounds like a pretty good deal.
