Yeah, what bullshit was that! And the endings too!? UUgh Seeing Alma like that was a big eyeroll. Plus, the game is not frightening. Great gameplay, but Whitelight is spot on about the stock funnel level design. Well, with all the remakes and homages going around, maybe someone will make a FEAR spiritual successor that does the ideas justice.
That entire scene felt like a middle finger to FEAR 2. Half a game of build up to finally meeting Becket and it just goes "haha boom lol so funny it doesn't matter anyway".
He blatantly said if he went in to get information from Beckett it would kill him the only way he could possess anyone safely if they were one of the Clone Army soldiers that he psychically controlled because they were all just clones of him
You know, F.e.a.r kinda ended the same way Dead Space ended. Both games were a series that was on the last leg and they went for an action movie kinda story rather than the horror that made them popular in the first place.
Fredebade wtf are you on about? FEAR has NEVER been a horror game. Just a spectacular shooter with horror elements. It's not remotely comparable to Dead Space. "rather than the horror that made them popular in the first place." Yeah....FEAR ...definitely memorable for its "survival horror" said no one ever. Might as well go full weebtard & compare it to Dark Souls.
FEAR 3 had a pretty troubled development cycle. Being a moderator for FEAR 3's forums, I got to chat with the Day1 community manager several times. And he mentioned on multiple occasions various issues that cropped up. A couple chapters were cut, making the game shorter... and causing some jarring cuts between some. Ever wonder how you just randomly go from a freeway overpass to an airport? Or from the airport to a random house in the woods? The chapters that were planned to link them were cut. The story, the rough outline that Monolith laid out for Day1 was all but ignored. Day1 dropped Lith's suggestions in favor of hiring Steve Niles to write the story. Which, in the end, proved to be a bad move as he didn't really understand the story of the series. From ignoring Paxton being reborn, making Harlan Wade a big bad... ruining Alma's abilities in the end, and making Becket nothing more then a cheap excuse for a gory cutscene. I liked the combat in FEAR 3, as a FPS the game is pretty solid. But, as a FEAR game, it falls incredibly short. I found the visuals in FEAR 2 much better, with sharper texture details, better use of color. And cleaner, crisper visuals. Where as FEAR 3 looks blurry and unfocused. The addition of coop was an interesting idea, but one that was poorly executed. Also, the scoring system was obnoxious. The constant pop up in the corner of the screen takes away from any supposed "horror" feeling. And, with absolutely no way to disable these pops up... you were constantly forced to see a stupid score jump up in front of you whenever you took cover or used slowmo. The first game will always be the best. But, while FEAR 3 is great in it's combat, in it's story, presentation and pacing... it falls flat. And, FEAR 2, in my eyes, is the superior sequel if anything... just for maintaining a feeling closer in structure and design to the first game.
Nothing "on paper". Everything I was told was done through chats and such with Day1's community manager and a few friends I had that worked at Monolith at the time. In regards to Becket, all I know was Monolith's original story plans had a much bigger focus on him teaming up with Point Man to combat Paxton and Alma. But, Point Man had to rescue him from Alma first, as we saw in the end of FEAR 2, Alma was holding him captive. Lith's story draft also answered questions on what happened to Point Man, Jin and Holiday... and Betters. Bringing the story full circle by making the original FEAR team key to the story. While Day1's final release only touches on Jin. And never once mentions Holiday or Betters.
Hearing this is so disappointing. Becket and the Point Man would've made a great pair. Any idea why Monolith didn't do FEAR 3 themselves? I've heard a bunch of different reasons why.
I can't tell you enough, how great F.E.AR.2 looks on PC. It still holds well visually even F.E.A.R 1. If it wasn't consolized, I can only imagine how well graphically it would look
I hope Warner doesn't reboot this. I would take a genuine Fear 4, but like SEGA and Condemned it's unlikely. Shadow of Mordor sold well, despite of the Lootbox outcry (so did EA-SWBF2 and the sports titles). So Warner might order another Middle Earth title from them. Best hope is Condemned 2 PC port, like SEGA did for Vanquish and Yakuza. And put Condemned 1 on Steam.
Well a Condemned 2 port probably won't happen. But There is a really good ps3 emulator out called rs3p or something like that. and it runs CD2 kinda well. So we will get the emulated version first lol. and CD1 is on steam.
Ah, a sad end to a phenomenal series! I can’t tell you how much I anticipated each episode, and each time, the wait always paid off! You’ve done an excellent job, Whitelight, well done!
I think the real problem with this game is that it's forced to be put out as a mainline FEAR game, when thematically it clearly felt nothing like the previous two games. Every characters who returned bear no resemblance to their former selves in the previous iteration, the setting has little to no consistency to what came before and feel awfully generic as a result, and world-building is non-existent. A shame really, because like you said the gameplay is pretty enjoyable, and had Day 1 been able to release the game as a spin-off title, with a different cast of characters and a whole new setting, then it might had been able to perform a lot better than it did. But instead they were burdened with having to carry on from the main series, which they clearly weren't interested nor were good at doing, thus dragging down the whole experience. Then again, this wouldn't been the first time Warner Bros having ruined a game by handing it to a completely different developer, so I don't know what I expected.
I had a weird experience with fear 3. I was so amazingly disappointed with how fear 2 was worse than the original in literally every way that I had no expectations on the third game. As a result what I ended up getting was actually a pretty fun shooter with a really good hoard mode, just not a good fear game. As far as I'm concerned, the franchise ended with extraction point. That was the height of both the gameplay, the horror, and was a proper ending for such a dark game.
Extraction Point introduced me to what fear in the literal sense really was. I was like 8 or 9 seeing Holiday die like that. Fuckin scared the shit out of me lmao
@@TheDozin1 Guns feel weak, Ai tries to pretend it is smart plus clow car closets , story is boring & predictable plus Becket is bucket who ignores relavent info he got in enviroment, Alma jump scares are overused, player can only travel one path unlike first game wher you had multiple paths to same goal --- most of time >>> thes are my isues with F.E.A.R. 2
You know what, For all of the bad things I heard about this game. When I finally played it, I kinda liked it. *KINDA* It is still *NOT* a F.E.A.R Game at all. Just a decent shooter.
I feel the same. While it wasn't a satisfying end to the FEAR story at least it had one *cough*halflife*cough* and it was entertaining enough gameplay wise.Worth picking up on the cheap, no way in hell would I have paid full price for this when it first came out though.
Haven't finished the video yet but I just want to remark that your production quality is spectacular, you can make anything engaging to watch and with the end of this epic anime saga I look forward to seeing more quality content
Honestly I think an incredible twist could have been having Beckett's psychic potential helping him survive Paxton since it was such a big deal in 2. But they kill him in a big middle finger to the character.
And thus we've reached the end of the road. FEAR was such an integral part of my teenage years and it blows my fucking mind something like F3AR could be shoved out the door. I'm in the minority of folks who actually thoroughly enjoyed FEAR 2 but I doubt the Lightning in a Bottle design of the first FEAR will ever be recaptured in this day and age. Crazier things have happened, but I believe that the series will remain dead for quite awhile.
enjoyed F2 as well, dunno why ppl hate this...nice graphics, nice effects, mech was nice etc. i know it has some bad designs, but overall it was really good game. i hope someday they will reboot this, with more depth story, more metaphysics stuff, more alma. First game was nice because we didnt know anything, discovering lore was enjoyable. On F2 there wasnt this magic, that unknown something that cause this chaos like in F1, but i liked reading all details, about school life, that alma was in classroom etc. Maybe i just really liked all interactions with small alma. More interesting, more...personal. Adult alma was just a monster to me.
Fear 2 i like a lot (not as much as the original 3 but still a lot) FEAR 3 I'm weird about. i like the gameplay but hate the story. I can only play fear if i stop looking at it as a fear game and look at it as a random game.
I'm glad you gave this game a fair shake and recognized that at least the combat was a step up from F.E.A.R. 2. Personally I was happy to be playing as The Point Man again and it was also nice to see dual-wielding return.
The game that killed this franchise dead. Monolith Productions should pull another FEAR 2 and make the real FEAR 3 like they did after FEAR Extraction Point and Persus Mandate. I don't hate this game, that's saved for Gearbox and Aliens Colonial Marines. But, this game chased trends instead of being I dunno FEAR...
I gave a better idea, let FEAR die. The only ones who did improve upon FEAR 1 were Time Gate Studios with Extraction Point, after that it was train wreck after train wreck. As for "this game being the killer of the franchise" statement I will say, yes and no, FEAR 3 was surely the final nail in the coffin but the problems already started with FEAR 2 (I wont count Perseus Mandate since that was a non canon expansion made by Vivendi who at the time still had the rights to the name [not the franchise] FEAR). I would have liked more the idea of Alma surviving in the end and going in her own way instead of dying or being eated "alive".
Actually, the real killer of this franchise was likely FEAR Online. It was so bad, Warner Bros completely deleted the game from existence. Wait, Extraction Point is great, but I think Monolith Productions erased it from canon as well when they did FEAR 2 & its dlc. I doubt Monolith Productions will ever make another FEAR game or even an HD remaster or remake of FEAR 1. Warner Bros are a terrible game publisher, their up there with EA or Activision in terms of anti consumer practices. The sad truth is we're not getting any FPS games that have A.I. like FEAR's lately. Most, if they even have bloody single player campaigns now, tend to be arena/wave based fests like Serious Sam.
You're right about the deletion of Extraction Point's plot from the canon, actually both expansions were done by Vivendi in order to cash in the hype. But at very least the first one is trully amazing and feels more like a sequel than any other. As for FEAR Online I don't know anything about it, after FEAR 3 I just decided to move into better things so... maybe you're right about that too, maybe FEAR Online is the real killer... but with already two main canon games being average at best or (in the case of the last one) a blatant clusterfuck, I don't think that FEAR Online needed to do much worse to finally kill the franchise mostly because It was already on life support when FEAR 3 arrived.
Aliens Colonial Marines wasn't actually developed by Gearbox, they outsourced it to different studios. And the main developer was actually TimeGate Studios who developed Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate - and another FPS called "Section 8" which is probably just as hilariously bad. At least that's what Wikipedia says. Not trying to say that Gearbox is a good company, but I wanted to share some fun fact I found out only few days ago when I played the FEAR addons and wanted to know who's responsible for that mess.
@@FlashheadX Section 8 was amazing, and Timegate only worked on Multiplayer part of Aliens: Colonial Marines, which was the best part of the game and a competent multiplayer mode on its own overall.
Fear 3 Fucking run is easily one of the best cooperative FPS game experiences of all time. It is a game mode that needs to make a comeback and the ammo crate mechanic was such a good addition to the traditional horde mode seen in a lot of shooters. I am not sure which is more tragic, that Fear 3 killed the entire franchise, or the game modes it pioneered.
You need to find Becker because he mind have some information about how to stop Alma, which is physically dead. Ultimatelly Becker knows nothing but Point-man didn't know it until Paxton shared his memories with him.
To think I almost turned off my PC to go to bed. Good thing I decided to check UA-cam notifications one last time. Can't skip on a Whitelight video now can I.
I never played F.E.A.R nor Crysis but after watching all of your videos I feel like I know those games like the back of my hand. Anyway I've been waiting for this video for a while now, it made my evening when I saw it was uploaded a couple of hours ago :) Great job
SPOILER ALERT! I just hate how they killed off one of the main characters like it was nothing. What where they thinking. I cant take the third installment seriously anymore.
I think they did it as a tongue-in-cheek rebuttal of FEAR 2 - killing off Beckett and generally making him a bitch as a way of saying "Now THAT game is all water under the bridge!" Oh how deluded.
I hate the story and writing of FEAR 3 and just all of it in general. I just pretend 3 is non-canon because the story sucks so bad. They brought back Becket just to do nothing with him and kill him off. I wanted a satisfying conclusion to 2s events, but instead we got this crap. I hate fear 3
@@fuzzydunlop7928yeah and that’s a really shitty attitude to take with portrayal of a rape victim. Not to mention that if we’re meant to feel that because he’s traumatized and got raped he’s “a bitch” and be amused that he explodes into bits while recounting what happened to him, then what the hell is the “horror” supposed to be in this horror series? They could have just not had him in it, but they decided to hoot and holler and make a big production of being flippant about rape victims trauma when Alma was forcibly impregnated and then within that twisted view of how reproduction is meant to work, rapes Beckett. If we decide he’s just “a bitch” for being sexually assaulted and having trauma from it, What the fuck is the entire point of this series in retrospect? Rape turns people into bitches? Alma’s just.. being bitchy? It’s the height of the sort of sociopathic, “hurr durr person die” spike tv four loko dumbass gamer era it came out in, where every game was oozing a sort of fratty, almost closeted kind of crass refusal to acknowledge and engage with any sort of emotional themes, where the only character type worthy of respect was… a growlman who shoots guns. Every game was trying to epic and apocalyptic and none of it felt remotely important because all of the games seethed with contempt for the emotions that apocalyptic hellscapes and immense suffering like that ought to evoke. Haha he exploded, we don’t care because being sad is gay, being scared is gay, being scared in a game called FEAR is gay, only playing coop and squad ctf is straight and only if it’s JUST DUDES, hearing a girl speak is. you guessed it. gay. fuck the way this game handled everything in it, and fuck the whole era of games and philosophy that shat them out.
Yeah. I agree with a lot of this. I kind of prefer this over FEAR 2 mainly because combat was more satisfying. I still don't think the game is anything special but it does get a ridiculous amount of hate. I mean it's alright. I do think this and FEAR 2 are even in terms of quality. Neither are as good as the first one.
@@RealHero101111 Oh for fuck's sake another person who hates a game because its not "scary" enough. Fuck me for not thinking an action game isn't that bad because I found the action to be decent. Oh and CoD games don't count your score during the campaign but I forgot comparing action games to CoD is the "cool" thing to do. Also FEAR 1 had a weak story, weak pacing and weak horror elements too. But hey I am clearly a fucking idiot for thinking a game is average at best and not thinking the game is bad like everyone else. Man the internet truly is a hivemind.
First video of yours I've seen. Just tried going to back to *_F.E.A.R. 3_* after having given up on it about 7 years ago. And yep, I remember why I left it. It's literally hard to enjoy, and not just because of the f***ing awful mouse support. I was surprised to see how many of my thoughts you agreed with and mentioned. In-depth and to-the-point. I'll come back for more videos.
I absolutely loved that series. I recently replayed all the FEAR game with my girlfriend.. a small 1h session before sleep. I think the ending is satisfying! Sad that this is over but the series was going downhill fast anyway. Thanks for the content!
Great video man! Really enjoyed every single installment of the series of videos you have produced. Loved those shout outs at the end. Even though I already knew 3 out of the 4 haha
When they switched the Med-Kits for health regen it made F.3.A.R. feel like C.O.D attempting horror. Having those moments it the first two games where you were on your last med-kit and you knew a rough fire fight was coming up was a nice change of pace, it added some sense of pressure and made it not as forgiving as the current FPS generation is.
Absolutely brilliant presentation. What thoughts I could not express with words all those years since I played those games, you did in this video. Thank you.
I bet ID Software could make a great F.E.A.R game. Hell, I could imagine them working FEAR into the DOOM Universe they're building. A rewrite / full ground up remake of 3.
Working FEAR into DOOM? hmmm...I don't think thats a good idea, FEAR works better in its own universe. But ID working on FEAR sounds awesome! Especially on remaking 3, since everyone was hating the story so much lol!!! If they're really gonna do this, they need to recapture the essence of the original game. A rewrite should be needed but I wish they would keep the brothers working together, because I kinda liked the idea lol
I loved FEAR 1 so much as a kid. It was the best FPS I had ever played since Half-Life. To see it progressively torn down by it's own creators hurts, but oh well. Great videos dude watched them all.
This is a hugely ambitious, very complete review. In a sea of "meh" game reviews, yours definitely stand out. Well done, both on this video and the others in the series.
I miss FEAR. I didn't hate FEAR 3 but it had annoying moments where I wanted to stop playing. I did complete it but I had no idea about being able to play as Paxton.
Just played though the entire trilogy and one thing not touched on here that really annoyed me in 3 was that Aristide is not even mentioned a single time. There is no explanation at all for the gap between 2 and 3. How did Alma get out? Why is Becket still alive? What happened with Aristide? Did Stokes survive? None of these questions are even broached, let alone answered.
Or what happened to Holiday. Or Manny from APC. Did he just wait there? Did he found dead Stokes and wounded Aristide and decided to smoke her or was it another way around? Did Alma just let Becket go so he could be captured by ATC?
thank you for giving a wonderful introspection on my favourite game series and it's sad fate. you did the series justice and I think it's a good, if 7 years overdue sendoff.
hoooly shit, love your voice for these videos! hope you do more! One thing I noticed for FEAR 3 though is the AI only get smart if you play on the hardest difficulty level. In my opinion its closure on Alma's story for the point man ending. Remember how in the previous games its said that she "simply refused to die"? Well since she knows that her child is in good hands with point man she simply lets herself go (she turns to dust because she knows her legacy has closure).
Interesting, I played co op with my friend and we enjoyed it greatly. The two different characters make the combat quite exciting. Then again, it was our first playthrough and we did it a long time ago. Thanks for the channel recommendations and as for Fear never again getting a game, we live in an age of reboots, so who knows.
See, I actually had a blast with my co-op run. Me being Point Man and a good FPS player was tons of fun with my friend running support as Fettel, blowing people up and possessing others and all that. I even lent him my slowmo abilities since the gunplay was so good I didn't need to rely on slowmo as much, so whenever he or we felt the need for that edge or if we were in a tight spot, I'd tell him that I was popping slowmo or he'd ask me to pop it himself. We actually complemented each other with our abilities and it was handily one of the best co-op games I'd played.
I never got to play the first FEAR but I played fear 2 and 3. As a kid the horror in fear 2 was enough to keep me on the edge of my seat while providing a fun shooter experience. I loved fear 2. I was in my mid teens when fear 3 came out and to this day it’s my favourite co-op experience. Me and my brother played the shit out of it for years and would constantly play swap characters each time we finished it and we would be highly competitive. I felt like an absolute badass playing point man running around constantly on low health using melee against everyone and playing Fettel only enhanced that experience. If there is one game I can play forever and never get tired of playing it’s fear 3
I've waited almost half an hour for it, thinking for a good long while it wasn't gonna come... but 28 minutes in, there's the WTFEntryOutComLp. Because it is physically impossible to make a F.E.A.R. video without WTFEntryOutComLp. I approve.
23:48 Perhaps Alma was weakened by "the Creep" battle so her powers were depleted by the time she gave birth... but I a mcertainly overthinking, and more her the writer(s) ever did.
Personally I feel like the Soul King mode might have been heavily inspired by the multiplayer of Geist on the Gamecube, in which you float around as a spirit and possess NPCs to use against others, be it a soldier or guided missile or even unlockables like a chef that throws one-hit-kill plates.
I've played all the F.E.A.R. series. It been a unique but unforgetable experience, in positive sense. I enjoyed the game a lot, but indeed, the series showed some ups and downs. Personally, F.E.A.R. 2 was my favorite and would consider playing agai, just for 1 specific scene that creeped me the hell out compared to other horrors (the school horror).
As far as I remember after the failure in the initial mission at the Auburn district, you and Jankowski infiltrate the port facility in order to find Fettel, the Satelite tracker pointed out that he and his soldiers are gattering in a large scale so in order to avoid the entire team to get obliterated by the enemy, Pointman and Jankowski infiltrates from two different points. You near the docks and he near... er... somwhere else. After your team gets obliterated by a little girl (no pun intended) you are the sole survivor of TEAM-B while TEAM-A still moves foward to kill Fettel. Near the end of this mission when Fettel signals just dissapeared again, you find out what is left of TEAM-A inside a small warehouse, after that you see Jankowski's ghost walking in the corridors asking "is anyone there?", like his lost. In the water processing plant you find his ghost again and he starts to tell you things about Alma, at the same time Betters informs you that for some fucked up reason the vital signals of Jankowski were detected near you. Finally during the assault at the Armacham headquarters you find him again and he tells you that Alma fears you. It is important to mention that during the entire operation at Armacham, Betters detects Jankowski's signals coming in and out at random areas of the building, he even screams "how the fuck he got there?." So in the end one can only assume that he and his team got rekted by Alma about 10 to 20 minutes before you encounter Jankowski's ghost for the first time, after that he is just a lost soul that comunicates with you or operates as a momentary bridge between you and Alma.
Good question but what happened to Holiday too from Fear. But I have another too question too: What happened to Aristide and Morales Delta Force from Fear 2.
The best thing about Fear 1 and the expansions was outsmarting of the enemies through movement and positioning. Cover systems ruins that, just snaps you to one place at a time and then it's just a point and click adventure.
I'm really glad you covered the multiplayer in this game. The actual campaign was garbage in my opinion just due to how unbalanced it was, and with Point Man still being a (freaking unnamed) blank slate. Contractions and Fucking Run, however, are probably some of the most fun I've had in the series. My friends and I had great fun with covering each other, freaking out about the Fog Wall of Death, or in general worrying about the encroaching fog that made it harder and harder to defend yourself. I just find it funny that the Multiplayer in games that absolutely don't need multiplayer (Bioshock 2, FEAR 3) are better than they have any right to be.
I think I had a brain aneurysm or slipped into a parallel universe because I remember my friend and I playing the HELL out of F3AR and *NONE* of the stuff in these clips were in the game I played...
The highway level with the mech was still awesome. Flesh out the mech combat more and you'd have something special as its own game. (goes for 2's mechs as well)
At that moment you step into a different genre and let me tell you, what little Fear 2 and 3 offered towards that wouldnt cut it with either the western or weeb crowd.
Fear 3 ended is like dead space 3 a real shit sad ending they killed fear and it's sad i loved fear 1 it's a sad ending for Alma a sad ending for Jin and Becket Fear 3 needs to be burned and forgotten about.
Combat in this game felt great. A return to form after the travesty that was FEAR 2. Weapons were great except that burst firing assault rifle with a stupid looking holographic sight which ate up half the screen. Audio was great too, smthing that doesn't get mentioned in any reviews strangely enough. Finally playing as Paxton Fettel! That was pretty damn cool. I enjoyed it a bit too much. I actually enjoyed FEAR 3 more than i thought i would. Sure they botched up a lot of stuff like the story and the muddy visuals but still for me it was an enjoyable experience. I feel if this game had a survival mode like in MW3, it wud have been freaking awesome.
That you mention first time Fearless being the hardest the game gets around the 12 minute mark amuses me greatly. Same with failing to mention Insane in any capacity.
I know you want to do a bunch of other series but i feel compelled to ask you to do a video on space hulk: deathwing. I recently got into 40k lore and got space hulk some months later. And damn even in The tutorial i shivered in thrill over how piloting The dreadnaught armour felt exactly how i expected it to. Ps, love your stuff
F.E.A.R is in need of a reboot. I'm replaying F.E.A.R and all I can think is "Wow...if someone did this again but improved the weak parts and updates it to modern standards then I'd be so keen and so not sleeping."

FEAR 3 had a pretty troubled development cycle. Being a moderator for FEAR 3's forums, I got to chat with the Day1 community manager several times.
And he mentioned on multiple occasions various issues that cropped up.

It's all about getting "native" Keyboard and Mouse controlls. Killer7 HD is gonna stand and fall with that
Yep, I really only can experience a game with KB and M
and after that...
5.E.A.R.
"Die so hard you get disconnected"
That made me giggle harder than it should have.
How was FEAR 2 so bad?
@@TheDozin1 if he's bad at playing a game he says it's bad. Watch his channel. All he ever does is whine
It's Jarek hey
Yeah I got it for like 5$ on steam when it was on sale.
Very True.
My thoughts exactly
Haven't finished the video yet but I just want to remark that your production quality is spectacular, you can make anything engaging to watch and with the end of this epic anime saga I look forward to seeing more quality content
I love how the first 2 intervals have all the prisoners and civilians speaking spanish, yet every sign is in portuguese 😅
After playing FEAR 2 again earlier this year I would agree. It was far better than I remembered and the horror, definitely the best of the 3.
Fear 2 i like a lot (not as much as the original 3 but still a lot) FEAR 3 I'm weird about. i like the gameplay but hate the story. I can only play fear if i stop looking at it as a fear game and look at it as a random game.
Dear god, FINALLY! I was so hyped for this analysis from you!
Ohhhh boyyy Im so keen to see this.
Thankyou for all the hard work on the series. You deserve so many more subs and views.
I guess the same thing happens in both endings because in case of a FEAR 4 you would start from the same storyline.
Woah. Your verified.
Thanks for the shoutout and congrats, now you no longer need to fear FEAR
To think I almost turned off my PC to go to bed. Good thing I decided to check UA-cam notifications one last time. Can't skip on a Whitelight video now can I.
I never played F.E.A.R nor Crysis but after watching all of your videos I feel like I know those games like the back of my hand. Anyway I've been waiting for this video for a while now, it made my evening when I saw it was uploaded a couple of hours ago :) Great job
You should absolutely play both series. Great games there.
I wish Becket was also a playable character in the third game. It will be neat to see how his ending will turn out!
@@IOxyrinchus3 is my favorite. I pretend the boring ass original doesn’t exist

Rape turns people
into bitches?
“Now go play some fear” it’s 2018 and yeah, I think I will ❤️ the first one, on hard difficulty, than maybe the 2nd
I have been waiting so very long for this... The end to the series that brought me to your channel.
@@RealHero101111
Oh for fuck's sake another person who hates a game because its not "scary" enough.

There a difference between an opinion and a well thought out one.
A solid if totally unremarkable FPS game, but an outright insult as a F.E.A.R. game in every way possible.
It broke the survival sense and challenge u face at fps games. It used to be "do or die". now do and get to a corner heal up.
You have no idea how much I appreciate all the "Paxton" word plays through the videos XD.
@ 22:38 I can't believe he said, "Alma doesn't feel so good" as she disappeared. I almost died XD
An ID FEAR game would be amazing. Too bad it will never happen.
Aww man, that sounds awesome!
FEAR 1 was developed by Monolith Productions. Do you want FEAR to be like a Doom game also how does FEAR fits into Doom universe?
I loved FEAR 1 so much as a kid. It was the best FPS I had ever played since Half-Life. To see it progressively torn down by it's own creators hurts, but oh well. Great videos dude watched them all.
my thoughts exactly
Thanks for shouting out those other UA-camrs, gonna check them out right now. Looking forward to much more from you ily
Point Man in 3 looks like human from the Ice Age cartoon.
I TOUGHT THE SAME😆😆😆
This is a hugely ambitious, very complete review.
I am hoping for more F3ar and other Fear games. I like them :)) thank you for your nice work
I remember playing through Fear 3 with my brother quite some time ago. Honestly one of the best games to be player 2 IMO.
Great work on this series my dude. Loved every video. Can’t wait to see what you put out next
I just remember playing this with my dad and laughing at the broken AI.
Tehsnakerer plug had me feeling all warm and fuzzy. His channel is criminally underrated.Dude’s comedy is top-notch.
thank you for giving a wonderful introspection on my favourite game series and it's sad fate. you did the series justice and I think it's a good, if 7 years overdue sendoff.
*been waiting for this for months White light *
It's a fun game, but it's a game that made me say out loud during the first minute of gameplay "this is not Fear, this is call of duty"
hoooly shit, love your voice for these videos! hope you do more!
Finally
I love your content! Some of the best thought out video game reviews on youtube. A DeadSpace series retrospective would be amazing!
Great series man. I loved it am I'm looking forward to watching more of your content in the future
I'm glad you mentioned LHudson, he's such an underrated UA-camr
Yeah i was looking forward this one for so long i'm so happy :)
So what’s the likelihood of you looking into Betrayer, the game made by former Monolith staffers who worked on FEAR?
Will do at some point.
Condemned would be a great idea next video
This is going to be gooood.
I didn't hate this game but it was not a FEAR game despite the name.
Here for the shoutouts. The godly algorithm made it a struggle to find good youtubers
There's one thing left to question:
What happened to Jankowski?
It is important to mention that during the entire operation at Armacham, Betters detects Jankowski's signals coming in and out at random areas of the building, he even screams "how the fuck he got there?."
So in the end one can only assume that he and his team got rekted by Alma about 10 to 20 minutes before you encounter Jankowski's ghost for the first time, after that he is just a lost soul that comunicates with you or operates as a momentary bridge between you and Alma.
Good question but what happened to Holiday too from Fear.
But I have another too question too:
What happened to Aristide and Morales Delta Force from Fear 2.
during the dev comm. they said it was always up to the player to interpret
@@phantomeye5199 holiday dies in extraction point. That was the oroblem with fear 3 it was supposed to wrap things up.

The best thing about Fear 1 and the expansions was outsmarting of the enemies through movement and positioning.
Cover systems ruins that, just snaps you to one place at a time and then it's just a point and click adventure.
The Point Man in F.E.A.R. 3 reminds me way too much of the protagonist from Hunt Down The Freeman and I can't unsee it
I'm really glad you covered the multiplayer in this game.
Enjoyed F.E.A.R. 3 , mostly for the action though..
Yes. This is what I wanted.
I think I had a brain aneurysm or slipped into a parallel universe because I remember my friend and I playing the HELL out of F3AR and *NONE* of the stuff in these clips were in the game I played...
Earliest I’ve been to one of your retrospectives, glad I caught the notification :)
Paxton is fucking backston! It's been a pleasure, sir!

honestly i liked fear 2 more than 3 personally but there’s no doubt the first one was the best
My friend and I played co-op from the beginning and we both lived together so communication and coordination of abilities and tactics was flawless.
This whole series needs to become backwards compatible
I miss the variety of single player FPS games that were released at this time. They're sadly missing in modern gaming.
Hey man, any plans on reviewing the Dead Space trilogy like you did with FEAR?
Whitelight: what is this ending?
Me: its suppose to have a mass effect... 3
i loved the "assaullt rifen" vector... one burst head explosion best gun in the game EXEPTE the Nailgun
The ending is so ludicrous. Imagine Paxton raising a baby! ...I smell a sitcom...
The game that gives me motion sickness just for watching your video
I like how you have the fear 2 soundtrack in the background
F.E.A.R is in need of a reboot. I'm replaying F.E.A.R and all I can think is "Wow...if someone did this again but improved the weak parts and updates it to modern standards then I'd be so keen and so not sleeping."
Captain Reaper Gaming Can you imagine FEAR with the graphics of F3AR or Syndicate (less bloom).
The thing is Paxton and Point Man didn't know Alma was pregnant UNTIL they met with Beckett, so seeing him is necessary
FEAR files hugely underrated
