18” Godzilla is out. It’s pretty cool actualky
The Kaiju Collective line is definitely something I’m intrigued by. I have Mezco’s 89 Batman, which uses the same style of metal skeleton with rubber suit. The thing I’m concerned with is, with a seamless figure, there’s no visual indication of where the joints are. Meaning, it’d be easy to try and move a joint you can’t see, only to have it break, and then be stuck enclosed in a rubber costume. People have had that issue with Batman, so hopefully Godzilla doesn’t share that problem.
I love the look of the Five Points stuff, I hope they continue since it’s really one of the only ways to get really great looking Showa figures at this point.
I Love The Mezco 5 Points Lines and I have all of Them Including that Huge Ultimate Godzilla 18 Inch Action Figure but I Feel Like Mezco is Only Catering to Us Hardcore Godzilla Fans so I Definitely Agree to What You are Saying and The Price on some of these are to Expensive Especially since Hiya Toys are Blowing all the Other Godzilla License Products out of the Water at Much More Affordable Prices!!
For the mezco 1954 rubber figure , i have deal with those types of products before. It was the universal studios mummy (1999) puppet 12inch figure. It was fully functional made out metal frame with rubber/foam for the body. It was pretty awesome to have. So im curious 🤔 to see who this figure looks like, i havent see that much of it.
It’s becoming known that Mezco takes ages to release figures. I waited 3 years for the Batman 1989. It’s a nice figure, but people have their issues with the metal skeleton it has.
I preordered the Giant Godzilla 1989 and I’m still excited for him. I’ve been wanting a large scale articulated Godzilla.
I have the X-Plus Gigantic Godzilla 89 and it’s more or less the same scale at the Mezco version but of course much better sculpt quality.
I am cautious though. I got the Mezco Giant King Kong and it’s beautiful. There is a shortcoming to that figure. It doesn’t have elbow and knee articulation which is a huge bummer. He broke on me 7 months later.
The plastic that is used to hold together those heavy arms is pretty weak.
If you keep moving it around for toy photography, it’s going to eventually break.
That’s my concern for this giant Godzilla.
I paid $200 for the Giant King Kong. I didn’t expect Godzilla to be double the price.
I’m guessing that the majority of the cost is going to the tail which is a metal armature.
This Godzilla isn’t going to have elbow or knee articulation which is something I’ll have to work around.
I can understand a large portion of people not too excited for this.
I am because I love doing large scale toy photography. We’ll see. Nice video. Take care
I completely forgot about that 18 inch Godzilla figure. It's already been 2 1/2 years and he STILL is not out?! That's crazy and kind of sad. Now that Godzilla 1954 figure looks cool but his head sucks, It's too big and looks off plus I agree that if I were to own it and play with it too much then I might end up ripping the rubber.
Mezco is notorious for its delays. I think the 1989 Batman was delayed for over 3 years.
Would be a shame if they were done and out so soon.
While i had a very EH to OKAY experience with the DAM Box Sets, the sets to follow seem to have only gotten better with time!
Can't speak too much on their other offerings though, after their ONE12 Alien Big Chap issue cropped up i kinda put it out of mind lol
Great in concept, scary in execution, at least as far as those go. I hope they keep going with the 5 Points XL Sets though.
Would be nice to see more less talked about films get their time to shine!
For sure, all of the American companies seem to get better with time and experience! I would be absolutely enthralled if they got to Titanosaurus 🤤
Great talk. I rcvd the Mezco Ultimate Godzilla shortly after this video was posted, and absolutely love it. The size, sculpt, and lights/sound are amazing. Yes $450 is a lot of money and no I am not wealthy. I pre-ordered him two years ago and immediately started saving $20 out of each paycheck for him. It took about a year to save up his cost but it was a rather painless exercise, and he is definitely the most impressive figure I own (and I must have at least 20 different Godzillas)
i also own one and love it to bits best american godzilla toy ever made
Well the only thing that prevented me from getting Mezco's Destroy All Monsters sets is because it just quite simply isn't my scale. If they made six or seven inch Showa Era figures with good articulation and detail then I would pick those up. I so desperately want a showa Baragon that's fully articulated. Finding a revoltech Baragon complete in box is pretty expensive and I am unsure about certain resellers.
I've been wondering if Mezco still exists 😆 The 5ptXL figure are BOSS. Beautiful little figures, great size for someone who doesn't want Godzilla as a home decor choice, a reasonable price point for what they are, and I love that they come in sets with a mix of figures some of whom I wouldn't necessarily buy on their own. I really really hope they continue the line... I'd love a Godzilla vs. Megalon set and an Ebirah set (for a second chance at Mothra without the Shobijin). Then we'd at least have the bulk of the Showa monsters. Not that I'd balk at any others... Gimmie Varan. Gimmie Dogora. Gimmie Gezora. Gimmie Mechanikong. This is literally my one line of Godzilla toys. I don't collect SHMA, MMS, or anything else.
I absolutely love the 5 Point line! Mezco needs to finish the DAM set with Varan, Manda, Kumonga, and a Mt. Fuji background etc... would be amazing!
Varan is a must-have!!
I pre ordered the ultimate godzilla January of 2022, BBTS just sent me an email saying they are scheduled to receive it soon. Im a huge godzilla fan and have wanted a giant figure like that since I was a wee lad.
The Mechagodzilla set looks cool but the longer its delayed, the less cool it is
Mezco's 5point line is the best Showa Godzilla line ever. I hope they don't can it as we still need Gigan, Megalon, Titanosaurus, King Kong, a Godzilla 64, 62, 54, and Ebirah.
I get the impression that there is not a lot of interest in toys based on the pre-Legendary movies. Legendary and Shin toys appear to be much more popular. So I'm surprised that so many companies are making classic Godzilla toys.
I think you're right, and it sure seems like American companies are dropping out if you look at Playmates ditching the classics line and the absence of new Mezco product.
@@kaijucanuck4492 Judging by polls on the MMS, it appears the interest in Showa and other eras are expressed strongly in Japan. So companies may be responding to that.
I only got the Hedorah set from this line. They are cool but not $80+. Mezco and super 7 are a little overpriced for what you get in my opinion.
Great video. I agree all around. Mexco did a bad job getting the word out on the 5poa figures. Originally I wasn't in, but then entertainment earth had the first 3 waves on sale for 50% off and I jumped in. They were so good that I have been purchasing the rest at full price. Glad I did because it looks like they lowered the production runs
The 18 in Mezco recently came out and looks amazing. I was really hoping they would have dropped the ball so I wouldn't want it LOL. But after watching a few reviews, it is tempting. Also inflation has been so bad since the announce 2 - 3 years ago, that the price doesn't seem as bad. Everything has just gotten so expensive that a $450 Godzilla seems much less crazy than it had before
I have all the mezco sets, and they're some of my favorite pieces that I own. There is no other way to get every monster from your favorite film, all in one cohesive look/style in a single package like you can with mezco. People complain about the paint on a couple of the figures like Anguirus and Rodan, but I think for $75, some paint imperfections is well worth it if it means I get the entire cast of my favorite movie in one set, as oppose to any other brand where monsters are sprinkled out individually throughout multiple years, or where some monsters arent touched at all. People take the mezco figures for granted. Imagine a round 1 and round 2 set for Final Wars??
Like, the ideal scenario of every collector is to have your favorite movies represented on your shelf, and mezco allows you to do that in an easier and more affordable way than any other brand.
I think one problem is the shared art for the DAM sets. It makes you wonder if they are the same item, one ‘vhs’ and one ‘Betamax’ if you get my thinking.
But yes, given these things tend to be in showcases or top stocked and hard to access and look at, the packaging does a TERRIBLE job of selling the figures.
6:01 I’m that guy! When I first saw it up for preorder in 2021 I was absolutely hyped at how huge and tricked out it was. Still am! It cost so much that I wanted to see reviews of it in person first before I bought it, but it’s been so long now that earlier this year I just went “fuck it” and preordered it. I don’t really care about the limited articulation given that the only other figures of him at this size are either statues or the Jakks Pacific.
I think the amount of delays is what’s killing the line the most unfortunately, I imagine that people are figuring that even if they like the upcoming releases, if they preorder then they won’t be getting them in hand for multiple years. Sadly enough they’re proving right.
I am glad to have found you! I hope that when you finally get it in hand it meets all of your expectations ☺
It is a mezco meme at this point... leatherface released around october I think... It was announced on fucking 2021, maybe even 2020, was so long ago i cant even remember
If this is the end, I am kinda sad. I really was excited for the 5 points XL line and kinda wanted another set (Godzilla Raids Again would be cool).
I happen to have both Destroy all monsters set, still indecisive on the Hedorah and Mothra set, and I'm definitely leaning on the Mechagodzilla set. But the slowdown on their releases makes me worry that eventually they'll just cancel all future releases due to poor sales, hate to see their potential go to waste.
I've purchased every Mezco Godzilla item and am looking forward to the light up Gigantic they made. Honestly, it's been so long I forget about it until someone mentions it, but I've seen in-hand pictures now and should be on my way soon. It's sad to hear the lines aren't selling very well, but I'm not surprised. I like Mezco and have been a fan of their items going back to their first run of Hellboy figures, so I was happy to see them tackle on Godzilla. I hope they do more, but I get the feeling that the Godzilla collector bubble is about to burst.
If they carry on with this I hope they make a Godzilla vs megaton set with jet jaguar, megalon, gigan and Godzilla 😅
I have both sets of the Destroy All Monsters figures and I love them. I'm going to get the Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla & the Mothra sets. I just hope they do Terror of Mechagodzilla and Ebirah: Horror of the Deep lines before they stop.. there's almost no affordable figures of Titanosaurus or Ebirah out there.
Great video. Honestly, i hope the 5 poa godzilla line will continue. It was such a great fun line, but def had problems sticking its landing.
When they came out, there were some pretty bad qc issues regarding teeth/mouth paint and minya's eyes being messed up. Saw alot of people dip out after that.
The hedo set was also revealed and released at a horrible time since the shma was revealed and released super close.
Also, the boxes did look great, but i agree that the open packaging look is better. Side note, one of the DAM sets has manda on the cover eventhough its not in the set
Not sure in what universe 140 bucks is affordable, but that's typical for Mezco. their One:12 line have, historically, been hideously expensive, and without the import tax upcharge to excuse it. Their darkseid doesnt even make use of the line-wide 'skin' gimmick and he's even more expensive than this godzilla, though he's an extreme case, as they usually come loaded with accessories.
Despite all that, i could see someone putting down the cash to own a more respectfully scaled classic godzilla that actually comes with accessories. As it is, the mezco 54' godziller is actually comparable in price to modern monsterarts anyway.
I’m excited for Mezcos 5 point XL series, I dont mind adding this line to my collection
I just dont understand why they started off with the 5POA figures, that seems silly especially for a company that is usually known for the amount of articulation they usually have
I wish there was a 3rd set, with Varan, Manda and Aspiga/Kumonga. Have the entire Destroy All Monsters Kaiju cast.
Oh yes, me too
I have been really hoping to see a Godzilla vs Megalon set with Gigan, Megalon, and Jet Jaguar... then i'm set... I'm more than fine with my Showa era being in this scale.. would i buy a son of godzilla set and ebirah set to finish it properly?? sure... but i'm REALLY hoping they do a Godzilla vs Megalon..
Give me a 4-pack from Megalon and a 3-pack from Terror of MechaG and I am a happy boy
@@kaijucanuck4492 that would be great!!! With a helicopter with the sonic ray mounted!! And a headless Mecha G option
Dude I think your video jinxed it, in just the past couple days now people are starting to receive BOTH the Mechagodzilla set and Ultimate Godzilla
You're all welcome! XD
I want neca back
Not surprising tbh, they were nice, but too small for the price like super7, not counting Mothra and her whole package, that was perfect, however the dom sets dont seem worth it as they are asking me to start a whole new collection because of the scale, for it I also need to buy new forniture as they do NOT look good with my shma/neca figs, so I would need a new place to put them
They should have started with their 54, these are too niche. Asking me to buy something im not used to, with a completely different scale, with some characters i dont care for, some i hate (you know who cmon) and a price that is too much for people to commit to something so niche unless you are a hoarder
But If they make the 54, ill risk it, it looks too good, i skipped shma cos i know i will get mezco's
"you know who" Yes I do 😂😂
E
I want to get the Dam figures but they need to release wave 3. And I wish they sold the figures separately as well as in sets.
A u serious!?
