Post credit scene was better than whatever that thing was in the beginning... Had a cool shot like that blue aerial craft, but that's about it. Hoping the post credit scene is the one followed and focused on instead.
Honestly, I have mixed feelings about this. I mean, the cinematography is genuinely good, especially with budget restraints Aidain (TSV) obviously had. Some dialogues are not bad either. But the most glaring issue is that romantic side-story does very little to support the overarching narrative. Sometimes it even gets in the way awkwardly, taking way too much screen time in the least appropriate circumstances. I understand that with a budget as low as they gathered, it's really difficult to film a proper ~15 minutes sci-fi short, but I would rather prefer 2-3 minutes teaser with a focused, simple story over what we eventually got. All in all, it's a good first attempt in filmaking, but this just doesn't sell TSV universe very well to someone who would be willing to produce and fund it in the future.
At the expense of sounding like a party pooper, I will say: even for a proof of concept, the short didn't deliver in either its setting or its story/characters. And this is coming from someone fully aware that the romance story was going to be the focus of the short. Let me elaborate... With an alien invasion of this magnitude taking place, I was fully expecting the romance story to be directly tied to it. Not as in having the invasion _resolve_ the conflict per se, but having it as a fundamental building block to how the characters confront their struggles. To put it another way: had there not been an alien invasion, the conflict and eventual resolution of the characters' differences could have _still_ been achieved with little rewriting. This gives the impression that there are two parallel stories and settings taking place. In one of them, we have an alien invasion threatening humanity and killing people. In another, we have a couple arguing about their breakup and eventually reconciling. This is why I believe so many people ended up disappointed and/or expecting more about the alien invasion (or so it seemed during the premiere, which is where I saw most of the reactions): not necessarily because they wouldn't _want_ the romance story, but more because it wasn't organically woven into the alien invasion, which made the latter look like an addon to an existing love story. To highlight this issue, we can look at the scene where one of the flashing creatures directly approaches them. As they're hiding for their lives, the only subject they are interested in discussing is their relationship struggles. As a consequence, at no point have I felt thrilled or scared for the characters. It never felt like they were in danger -- it just felt like the alien was actually _distracting_ them from their argument. Which is just about the weakest way to present an inhuman threat: have them be a nuisance, more so than an insurmountable mortal danger. Sure, the characters run and hide, but at no point does the flashing guy even _notice_ them, let alone put them in any _real_ danger. There were no stakes, there was no payoff. The alien came and went and that was that. I sincerely, genuinely appreciate Aidan's work. The team did a fantastic job with this short, I truly mean it. But for its intended _purpose_ of being a proof of concept/pitch film, it fell very short. The cinematography was great, photography was excellent, the actors portrayed their characters really well, and the editing/VFX was really good. Writing, however, is where it didn't deliver, and writing should have been the absolute focus of this project. Assuming this project were to be picked, chances are most or all aspects of this proof of concept would be replaced. There would likely be a new cast, new directors of photography and cinematography, new editors, etc. But the writing team would likely be the one to stay through the project, even if in part. It's generally a good idea to have somewhat vague events in a story when that is material that the team wants to explore further. But for a proof of concept, I believe it is generally best to have a self-contained story. Yes, give it room to grow and expand, but be prepared to assume none of it will ever be revisited -- chances are, in a big studio, a new story will take its place, or at least the main story will be massively rewritten/repurposed. I didn't understand what transpired between the two characters. I don't know what their character flaws are, only vague hints of "ego" and "abandonment". I don't know what their goals are -- for an alien invasion setting, survival seems absurdly low on their list of priorities. I don't know what led to their reconciliation, other than "I don't care about the world, just about you" and "there you are", which, again, I find too vague for a proof of concept. What I took out of this project was that it was, at the end of the day, a short indie movie. A passion project, a labor of love. But it was not a pitch first and foremost. It did not delve into the alien invasion setting, which, for as much as you might love the characters, will inevitably be the focus of any pitch meeting. Almost everything relevant to the setting happens off-screen. Worldbuilding is effectively null for anyone not already familiar with TSV's universe (which studios will be unfamiliar with). So really, what you're pitching is a love story, with an optional alien invasion as a side story. I was actually quite surprised in that the threat upon their lives wasn't a catalyst for character growth and change. Instead, the main conflict seemed to revolve almost exclusively on "you called me after three years of silence", which for the sake of the characters, could have been a result of any situation that leads to desperate measures, from "alien invasion" to "I'm moving out of the country". To Aidan and the team: if you're reading this, I sincerely hope you don't take it as me _complaining_ about the project. I sincerely enjoyed watching the short, and it was masterfully crafted in every aspect -- sound design, lighting, camerawork, editing, music... It's clear to everyone that a lot of work was put into this film, a lot of passion and dedication and talent from the crew, both in front of and behind the camera. But if the ultimate plan is still to pitch this project to studios in the hopes of getting a feature film or series, I highly recommend the writers and producers to flesh out the worldbuilding and events that transpire independent of characters, or have characters that are inextricably involved with the overarching plot. A lot of what went into this short could end up on the cutting floor, especially if this project were to become a series. I could see an anthology series taking place in TSV's universe, with each season exploring a group of characters and how they navigate this new world. Or a movie focused on the day of the invasion, with a cast either tasked with tackling the invasion head on, or with a specific goal or objective related to their survival. TheSunVanished is an amazing project, and I'm really looking forward to whatever comes next. And hey, I'm not infallible. I would absolutely love to be wrong and have this story kick in with its current cast and narrative. I wish the team the best of luck with the next phase of the project.
I completely agree with this. I'm about halfway through it and I've paused it several times to take a breather cause the characters are arguing about things that I simply don't believe in or care about, cause I don't know anything about their personalities yet. Other than "clingy" and "complains while in mortal danger" 11 minutes in and there hasn't been a "hook" yet to keep me interested. Not even some tension.
The "writing team" is essentially solely Aidan. The focus on this film was the writing and that is where the most time was spent by far. There are 2 years of script rewrites, most of which I read. And for the pitch, worldbuilding isn't important. Not in a series like this where the main concept can be summed up in 2 sentences and the worldbuilding isn't the main focus. It explains the general feeling of what it will be as a movie, and is a pretty good representation of Aidan's style through all his shorts. It talks about the parts that are hard to explain with words alone. Universe development already exists, and you can explain it easily, it isn't something done best by showing in something with this little time. This is the part of the story, and of the series that is something you have to show. The general feel, the themes and subtext, cinematography and audio design.
@@bladerman4850 I’m just not sure the best use of time was spent by focusing on a teen love story. The fact that so many seemed to be grabbed by the after-credits scene says something. That’s where the writing, the cinematography, audio design, etc. could have been best out to use - by introducing new viewers to, and retelling, the dramatic events of this world. It felt like two different stories/films being spliced together. Don’t get me wrong, I have looked forward to this and think it is very well shot (though I do think there could have been a way to effect the strobing lights without mirroring a seizure test. I took the risk because I wanted to see this so much, but I wasn’t expecting the lights to cause quite as much pain as they did). And I continue to be excited for wherever this story goes. I just don’t feel like the best introduction to the film version of this story was to focus 90% on a teen romance. At the beginning I was expecting to see her end up leaving/running away and it coinciding with the events beginning, which she missed notifications of. I was excited for that. Where it ended up with the two characters only ended up confusing me. I kept wondering if I had forgotten two characters from the Twitter story. TSV has been an awesome story to experience these past years and I very much want it to continue. I hope we get to see more of what the after credits hinted.
@@doubtful_seer The original plan for a TSV short film with the events of the Twitter did exist, the first bit of that is on Aidan's channel. It did not work out. Twitter was just better for at least the majority of that story. And even with that, the plan was still mostly going to be just talking in the same way. It was always going to be about the relationship between two people in an enclosed space with similar issues being just pushed on by the outside circumstances to confront that(even before the Twitter story came out). The only difference is who it was going to be. And for TSV and Danyon, the Twitter was better suited to that. The Twitter exists, and it does that job of introducing and hooking people well in a very particular way. The element of that original short, and those following it that can not be present in the Twitter is what is presented here.
I love the concept and the monsters but god... we don’t need the romance. Even more for story’s sake. A bulbhead just walked through your house and the first thing someone does is bitch about their ex of three years. There is such an amazing idea for the universe but the characters need some work. Hope to see more!
@@jeffkealy5951 Then read the Twitter. That is what it is for. this was never going to be that. The description for this across Twitter for almost 2 years, as well as the indiegogo and just the description of the video have all said that this is about the relationship between a couple, is working as a proof of concept for larger projects including an ANTHOLOGY webseries, and is unrelated to the main story of the Twitter for the time being. This was never meant to be part of the Twitter story. If you want more of the Twitter story, then it is there, this didn't replace that. This was *supposed* to be different, otherwise it would have just been on the Twitter. Even got a little teaser which was completely unexpected.
I've been following the TSV story since it began, but watching this short film makes me feel like I'm an awkward third person in between an ex couple with ZERO context as to what happened. I don't think that the start of the story delivered an clear and impactful implication of what happened in Sky's past; overall just felt weird about the whole thing. I KNOW its a proof of concept, and I KNOW this is a story he wants to tell, but for the love of the sun please tell it well at least. I still love Aidan and I will continue to follow what he makes in the future, but as of now these are my thoughts about it.
I completely agree, if there's gonna be an actual movie about this make it about survival and the psychological horror of the whole thing. Maybe even follow TSV Tucker and Nat. I don't care about a suicidal teenager and her asshole boyfriend. Sorry if this sounds harsh but I just don't like romance stories.
My opinion as well. I loved the original and I don't mind romance plots, but this really felt like zero context. Also, I disliked the fact that "they" were shown so early a lot; the original simply worked by keeping a secret around them - that's what builds the horror. I really hope they can make this work in the end.
i agree i was expecting that the short film will be about the TSV story from the began like a summary or somethin it would be better than this short film
Not bad. Not keen on romance element, preferred it was in the backline. I also was hoping that at least one person witnessed something strange happened before the main events happened and have somehow survived and documented things in deeper detail.
I think without knowing about the Twitter account it would be hard to understand what is all going on in this short film, but regardless still beautiful! The post-credit scene made it all worth it. Love to see what else is ahead!
Had almost nothing about the sun vanished in it, only that the sun was missing, a clicker thing was there, and they watched one of Tsv's videos What is this other than two people getting their shit together? I was hoping for some more light to be shed on this world Edit: just saw that there was a post credit scene, more light was shed, I guess
Thanks to Nexpo for covering this in his "Disturbing Things" series, otherwise I would never have heard of TSV. Awesome short, and I can't wait to see what comes next!
I’ve loved the Twitter story since the beginning don’t get me wrong this is cool but the romance part is pretty awkward it would be better if it was just pure horror
While I agree - this is meant as a proof of concept - not a full movie meant for the out of home cinema in this current form Alongside this, it’s also a different person’s perspective on the whole emergency event surrounding the sun vanishing. There are people out there that would actually be more worried about their loved ones and their relationships (because people care about other people, in their context - especially if it’s a loved one close to you) if a disaster went down. In this case, the disaster centers around the idea of an alien invasion. Edit: to reaffirm - I agree the romance feels forced and unnecessary for something like The Sun Vanished movie. The main thing with the story is the threat and how individual people handle it (as seen with the Twitter account) but if the relationship was more on the back burner to the action, I can see it being good even with the romance (but without would also be good) so long as the movie can “stick the landing” with the aliens and how the threat level is portrayed.
I'm really sad to see they went with this, instead of making something badass out of the OG story. It felt empty and no feeling of imment danger or being scared, it was (IMO) a wrong way to proof the concept and a let down of the fans of the story.
Constructive Criticism: the main movie was OK. But, after all these years of following TSV on twitter (and I’ve been following since 2018), it was not what I wanted. As a devotee of this series, I REALLY wanted what you showed after the credits. I wanted to see Nat, Tucker, Kevin, Luna, Starr. I wanted to see the SV Military Remnants. I also wanted to see your Cockatiel (although I don’t remember if it is still alive in the latest timeline). But, most importantly, we need more of you, Aidan. You are TSV. We know you and love you. Please, consider focusing on the characters we’ve grown to love and care about over these many years. The after credits scene is EXACTLY what I’d love to see in your future endeavors. Also, please consider starting a Kickstarter to really get this project off the ground. The after credits scene blew my mind it was so amazing! Thank you for keeping this story going. I can’t wait to see what you’ll do next.
Yeah! Not to be rude, but I'm not at all keen on the sucky romance. Wow, wow, kiss, kiss. It shouldn't be the first priority ESPECIALLY if a strobe is *in the fuckin' h o u s e.* In fact, love should be last. You're in a position where it's literally 'survive or die'. No romance is needed, in my opinion. It really doesn't matter anymore, especially if you're BROKEN UP. TSV learnt that the hard way.
And the boring romance part. We know about romance. It doesn't relate to what happened at all? I don't think anyone here cares about their relationship point blank.
i started following this story my freshman year, and now i'm about to graduate. wild how time flies, and i'm so beyond excited to see the short film :))
9:46 "Hey guys? Can we do this another time? I kinda have a job to do here, and this is feeling pretty awkward right now so..." 12:56 "Guys, seriously! This is neither the time nor place!"
Despite what I'm about to say, I am glad this was made and that people are experimenting with making a series out of The Sun Vanished. A lot about this good, especially for just being a proof of concept. That said, there's also a lot I didn't care for. I guess I would like it to be more horror focused. This just feels like it's 90% sappy romance drama and 10% horror. Also, the reason the robots/aliens were so terrifying in the original Twitter posts was because they were so mysterious and difficult to see. In fact, I don't think you ever actually saw what they looked like. It was just a flashing light. That mystery really makes them so much more creepy and unsettling. But in this short, we see what the thing generally looks like literally 5 seconds after it appears. That gets rid of a lot of the mystery surrounding it. Also, I know they probably didn't have a huge budget for this, but the fact that it's clearly just some guy in a black suit kinda dispels the creepiness real fast. Whatever the case, I hope they're able to keep working on this as a series and really make something memorable.
Why did this need to be a romance, that’s what I want to know- Idk, I feel like adapting The Sun Vanished in this way was misusing a lot of potential compared to the original, even though this proof of concept wasn’t bad on its own. It’s not great, but it’s not bad. It could use a lot of reworking, is what I’m trying to say. Aiden created a complex masterpiece and it deserves to be done justice. Edit: upon watching this a second time without the excitement of the prospect of there even being a proof of concept at all, the romance/breakup aspect just ruins the entire thing, it is devoid of any tension and even manages to make the scenes that are supposed to be tense, well, tense. I found myself being bored somehow during the scene with the strobe creature inside the house. The dialogue was abysmal and awkward to listen to, I have zero care to give for these characters because there is no reason to care about them, and trying to split the plot between two teenagers mumbling and raising their voices at each other to talk about their breakup and with an alien invasion was just a terrible mix. It’s only a proof of concept and not the final project, but there needs to be work done with this.
@@MCOmegaX123 as ironic as it sounds... Yeah. The story on twitter had us exploring this alternate world overtaken by unknown beings where the sun, hell, the entire SKY disappears. It shows the struggles of isolation when all connections are cut off as a result of this. The mystery behind it all. The short, meanwhile, makes the vanishing of the sun a b-plot and almost feels more like a metaphor for Skylar and Quinn's relationship than an actual end of the world. And just for the record, there's nothing *wrong* with wanting to tell a story about a complicated relationship with both sides of the story. But to those who have been following TheSunVanished for a while now, and have been waiting for the announced TV series based on their favorite ARG, this can almost feel like an insult. It's as if your parents told you "We're going to Disneyland", arrived by the entrance, parked their car, and took you to the restaurant across the street from the park.
While I know this is a proof of concept, but the romance portion needs to be rewritten, it feels like a major generic romance than a romance that would really fit the TSV universe. Speaking of the TSV universe, that part also needs to be elaborated on as the main part of the series if this is to be turned into a full movie or show. However, as a proof of concept, this was executed perfectly.
Such a fascinating short within The Sun Vanished universe, it really makes you think about the other side stories in the universe that are occurring. I can totally see this being a character based driven series.
I’m a Huge supporter of the Twitter, so I know this may not be a popular opinion. I realize this is a proof of concept so big Hollywood has something to see, but too much is taken up with the relationship. It’s so hard to buy that 2ppl really wanna work out their past issues after seeing an alien the first time AND being hunted by it for unknown reasons. The entire concept is sidelined for a petty argument that originated years earlier. Makes it hard to relate to or sympathize with them because the priorities seem all whacked out. I’m only saying this because I want it to work and succeed.
everything about this was great except for the dialogue. a flashing alien monster is running through your house and your first instinct is to argue about an old relationship?
I entirely forgot about this twitter ARG and only remembered it last night to realise that a short film was being made. Props to the people who contributed to making this short film.
I discovered this whole story last night. The Twitter accounts, the lore, everything and I'm so happy I did. I know im so late to the party but im happy i am here now.. I've been sucked in and the last few seconds of this was insane. We see the face of the man people have been following for years this is a huge deal.
okay time for some constructive critique: . You focused way too heavily on the couple drama and almost nothing on what made the series original (the stuff that people actually wanted) . Fear of the unknown is one of the greatest fears and what made the twitter story so scary. Almost immediatly you show the monster in full, bad choice, the movie "a quiet place" did the same mistake and it really takes the scaryness out of it.
The TSV twitter has always been about people, drama and relationships. This short does nothing different from the Twitter, the only difference is it's a more compressed version of it.
@@sydney_pepper No, it was always about that. The idea that the Twitter account stemmed from was a planned short film, the first glimpse of which is still on Aidan's channel. That was very similar to this. 2 characters in an enclosed area dealing with their relationship using the outside force as pressure to facilitate it. Very early on the Twitter starts talking about that with Danyon, and with Tucker and Nat both. It has more time and less restrictions so it can be longer and have some parts that don't directly talk about that, but it was always about that.
INCREDIBLE!!!! It was scary, emotional, set the scene incredibly well and the character building was magnificent!!!!!!!!!!!! One of the best horror short films I have ever seen!!! My only complaint is the lack of interaction with the aliens/robots or whatever they are. But I'm assuming that we will see more of that in the future!! 10/10!!!
I'm super stoked this released but it felt like more of a couples therapy than a horror short. This isn't really a proof of concept when the concept is interjected by a drama that needs more time to develop. The camerawork was okay, but nothing especially remarkable, the lighting was good in most parts, though a lot felt off about the lighting in the house. The reason the Twitter story worked was because it was a slow burning horror that relieved the tension with character interaction. I hope this gets picked up nonetheless, I just hope it's based on the original story because these characters don't have much to them, nor anything interesting for me to want to watch.
This is just amazing, now it isnt the best short film ive ever seen but at the same time this was made by only like 10 guys with almost no budget, seeing this story come to life as a short film is just amazing and just riminds me that really anything can happen, im wating on the movie lol
@@offthescreen_ I also got confused on what the hell the first scenes mean't. At least that last bit with TVS and the scenes with the headlights were very good.
Good production on the short film. However, as many have mentioned in the comments, the romantic aspect of the film doesn't fit well within the story. I am not saying that romance should be fully kept out of the movie, but with how it is now, it just seems like a separate side-story with no relevance at all to the main story or lore of the universe. It would be ideal if the characters romantic journey evolves throughout the movie and is rather not the main focus behind the movie. The romance here made no sense to me. The characters just found out about a devastating global event and started arguing like nothing happened as if their previous relationship issues are way more important than their survival. The boyfriend covered her mouth at first when the monster was there so they don't attract it, but then they proceed to argue loudly. It makes no sense. Then it comes again to them and after it leaves for some time they start loudly arguing all over again. In reality, anyone learning about such event and encountering it first-hand would either go into full panic mode or, more realistically, control some of their panic and try as much as possible to survive by hiding properly / fighting back. Overall, it just diminishes from the thrill aspect of the movie and you feel like you're watching some middle-schoolers arguing over something silly compared to the magnitude of the issue at hand. Heck even middle-schoolers would be responding in a better way. I am not even sure if including romance at all in this movie is essential. People are hooked to this series from the mystery/thrill/sci-fi aspect of the twitter accounts and the lore we know so far. We would like to explore this story more and understand what's behind. Interact with the current ARG (the twitter accounts) and understand the universe and characters better. If you still decide to go with the romance aspect, it has to be done in a MUCH better way, where the two characters first learn to cooperate with each other for the ultimate goal of survival as of now. As they overcome the challenges presented, they overcome their issues and improve from their relationship. The entire romantic journey has to seamlessly weave into the story and have some purpose to the overarching story of their survival. However, the usual cliches have to be avoided such as: "Oh we are now compatible and understand each other so we're able to defeat the monsters and survive." The current execution of this aspect is way too silly, too direct, makes no sense, shoved into us out of nowhere and contributes absolutely nothing to the story. There is a reason that the entire comment section was way more excited about the post-credits scene and did not care to analyze the romantic focus of the short film at all. That was my honest take on the story. I did not mean to sound rude or unnecessarily critical, so I apologize if my wording indicated so. The production quality was really impressive though and it's exciting to see how this story evolved from a twitter account to a short-film like this. You guys have come so far and the work put into this is great. I can see the passion and dedication poured into your work. Congrats!
"I am not even sure if including romance at all in this movie is essential. People are hooked to this series from the mystery/thrill/sci-fi aspect of the twitter accounts and the lore we know so far. We would like to explore this story more and understand what's behind. Interact with the current ARG (the twitter accounts) and understand the universe and characters better." One of the main things this is a proof of concept for is an anthology series specifically. A short story as part of a larger plan of them. Not really a movie, at least not now. And with 3 days to film, 2,000 dollars, and 20 minutes there really isn't any way to expand upon lore more than it did. the short film aspect of this series in general was always going to be about 2 people's relationship in a enclosed space, even before the twitter came out. That was what Strobe was even before this, using the outside world as pressure to cause this with them needing to sort this issues immediately. TSV has always been about relationships of different kinds, that is kind of the point. In this case a romantic relationship based on Aidan's own experience. To just quote Aidan because what you said does relate to some of what he has: "If you think it’s ABOUT the sci-fi and background elements, you might as well stop following because that ain’t it lol..." "...another note for what it’s worth: if romance isn’t your thing there’s still a TON of different stories I still wanna tell in this universe. One of the end goals here is to have a little something for everyone." And about them arguing "I think this particular critique misunderstands the type of mortal danger being faced, coupled with a lack of direct explanation that the strobe creatures don’t really respond to sound."
i completely agree with you, it was weird how the couple just treated a life threatening and world shattering apocalypse as an annoying little interruption to their conversation. every time the creature entered the scene, they freaked out for like two seconds and then were like 'ok whatever now back to our cheesy petty argument'. i have no doubt that everyone, no matter how dysfunctional their relationship is, would without even thinking about it, just get along and pay attention to the actual monsters that are two feet away
Romance tends to work better when it's the main focus. Pretty hard for it to be the main focus here, a really interesting alternate reality, where not being able to really see without it having possible consequences is a main driving point. I hope this truly is just a proof of concept as it's advertised and the thematic switches to completely or majorly analogue horror and suspense.
True... but a pandemic doesn't affect writing. Not being rude, just honest... the writing was not in the least bit interesting. The end credit scene did give a glimmer of hope, though.
The relationship thing was stupid. I’ve recently learned about this, and did some research into it. I don’t know what happened. No reason for any of it. I know this is a “””Proof of concept””” But hopefully whatever we seen was a concept, and stays a concept, not going any further. The Twitter post were good, sort of a like a Cloverfield thriller/horror. Not this lackluster drama.
TSV has always been a drama about people and their relationships. If you really think TSV is about aliens and the sun then I'm sorry to disappoint but you better stop watching now.
@@daily1621 I can agree with you to an extent. It's a mix of both putting them both into the spotlight. Honestly, in this film, you could have replaced the strobe light alien thing with a murderer and the sun "vanishing" with it being night time and pretty much nothing would change. I think almost all of us expected something to truly develop the long awaiting update to the twitter series, but instead got something that didn't really effect the story at all. As a person who read through all the tweets (and I think most of the other CANON TSV side accounts) I just wish it was more connected to the actual lore and taught us more about this world, and I think the guy you replied to wanted it too.
@@paulaj0y I do get why people feel this way, don't get me wrong. But the world and lore behind TSV is really a secondary element to the overall story. It's not about the the world around them, It 𝘪𝘴 about the people inside this world and the world is used a force to push these characters to each other. The real conflict isn't character vs the world, it's character vs character and it's always been that way since the twitter account. Think of it as Silent hill. Silent hill isn't about the lore, or the monsters, or even the town itself. Silent hill is about the people brought there to the town. They are brought there for their sins and what for what they've done.
@@daily1621 I can respect that. While I do think this film is (almost) good for people who want more character interaction instead of the story behind the sun vanishing and the alien creatures, personally I would have liked something to expand upon the sun vanishing or what the creatures are, but giving a bit of character interaction and drama. Though, even if it was trying to be character vs character, I feel as if it does that poorly. There's simply not enough time in the film for the characters to get into much a conflict before they suddenly are friends again, it seems a bit forced to me. But again, maybe that's just me.
I really appreciate all the hard work that went into this film! (That being said, imo the post-credits scene is the best part and the pre-credits should have been less dialogue heavy and more atmospheric so you get more of an idea what the world it like outside of their broken romance)
This goes to show that experimental horror is better than anything I’ve seen since the slasher era…. This should be more popular and if I had the money I would produce this in a heartbeat
i mean its cool but... why the romance? the version on twitter was purly about survival and trying to figure out what is going on, i feel like the romance kinda brings it down
TSV has always been about relationships. Not romantic mostly, but still relationships. The original short film that ended up becoming the twitter series, Strobe, was still about 2 people in an enclosed space being forced to deal with their relationship.
Man, I really wanted to get into this, but I just could not... I know Aiden said there's other stories he wants to tell in the TSV world, and hopefully when he eventually does, they'll be better. Idk, I've loved what we got on twitter, but this just fell flat for me... The post credits scene is what I would love to see more of! Give us more of the main storyline.
I wish Tucker was the boyfriend in the video and was left with the trauma of all of this shit. It would really build up a side character into a protaganist.
Dude, this is great! I've discovered the Twitter AAR via Night Mind, and been following ever since. And now a short film! This has come so far. Great job!
I must confess I only now took a moment to watch this after chipping in for production three years ago - still a great spooky premise with a lot of potential!
Oh geez let people explore a bit with their creativity you nerds. The romance isn't even that bad. I think it's interesting exploring how the sun literally god damn vanished and some humans will find a way to argue about something tiny which they think is more important. The human mind is weird like that
While Hollywood keeps rehashing old loved films with female characters in place of the original men. But then some unknown guy on Twitter makes this amazing and scary story that I'm obsessed with. Keep up the good work my man you're doing some damn good work
I personally believe that they both looked into the red light, causing them to irrationally argue with each other and is the reason the sun was in the background when they embraced each other, my proof being they would have no idea what the red light does and in the original story an insane guy’s scribblings mentioned the sun being back
Gonna be honest, I don't really like this. It fails to capture the horror of the Twitter account and I don't know these characters, I don't care about an emotional scene of them arguing.
i can see what we're going for here, and unlike a lot of criticisms i dont actually mind jumping in midway through a story, its one of my favourite ways to do story telling. The problem i see is a lot more subtle in its execution but really jarring as the audience. unnatural dialogue. when you want to tell an extremely intimate and personal and character driven story - especially one dealing with complicated themes like a suicide attempt and the aftermath of it - you have to get the balance just right between telling the story you want to tell; and writing believable characters. unfortunately i think this story falls a little flat in that department, making for a somewhat uncomfortable watch. i love this world and i love this premise and this idea can definitely work in developing the cast of characters making their way in this strange dark world, but i think this story was extending beyond your reach - so far! we improve with every story we make, i cant wait to see what comes next. good luck aidan!
We've come so far. From just a guy on Twitter to a short film.
Was thinking the exact same thing. Have NightMind on as a consult since he knows the worlds so well. Make a whole ARGverse

Other than "clingy" and "complains while in mortal danger"
11 minutes in and there hasn't been a "hook" yet to keep me interested.
Call me when the movie adaptation comes out!!!
I love the concept and the monsters but god... we don’t need the romance. Even more for story’s sake. A bulbhead just walked through your house and the first thing someone does is bitch about their ex of three years.
There is such an amazing idea for the universe but the characters need some work. Hope to see more!
Exactly. We don't care about them. We want Danyon, TSV and the 'crew' back together (sort of). Wherever they are, action's going down.

I’ve loved the Twitter story since the beginning don’t get me wrong this is cool but the romance part is pretty awkward it would be better if it was just pure horror
Agreed it feels just plain weird to be worrying about your relationship issues WHEN THERE ARR FUCKING ALIENS IN AND AROUND YOUR HOUSE
Yeah it was unnecessary and cringey.
While I agree - this is meant as a proof of concept - not a full movie meant for the out of home cinema in this current form
Alongside this, it’s also a different person’s perspective on the whole emergency event surrounding the sun vanishing.

@@jeffkealy5951 Amen to that!
I love how the credits take up a 1/4 of the film.
And the boring romance part. We know about romance. It doesn't relate to what happened at all? I don't think anyone here cares about their relationship point blank.

I like how you can watch the trailer before it actually premieres. This looks sick!
Agreed
The beginning was a little weird because of the main focus on the relationship, all in all the end scene really made me have high hopes for this
Despite what I'm about to say, I am glad this was made and that people are experimenting with making a series out of The Sun Vanished.
Why did this need to be a romance, that’s what I want to know-
Idk, I feel like adapting The Sun Vanished in this way was misusing a lot of potential compared to the original, even though this proof of concept wasn’t bad on its own.
Honestly, it should of been more focus on the main crew. The stuff at the aftercredits scene is absolutely badass, and is what I wanna see
Peach
@@rpgryder1886 I know! That was the best part by miles!
So you're saying Aiden wasn't done justice... by Aiden? He made this film, dude. It's part of his vision as much as the Twitter accounts are.
Some people from interest, some from inside a mind, started as a Twitter story and now here, a short film, where the sun has vanished
Your SUN subscription has expired. You can keep going by paying 2000$ (for a 5 year duration)
Exactly. The tsv story took a backseat to some pandering b.s. when the story was better and would have held up better on its own

okay time for some constructive critique:
. You focused way too heavily on the couple drama and almost nothing on what made the series original (the stuff that people actually wanted)

At least that last bit with TVS and the scenes with the headlights were very good.
this is just a proof of concept to give a small idea of whats to come I believe
However, the usual cliches have to be avoided such as: "Oh we are now compatible and understand each other so we're able to defeat the monsters and survive."
The current execution of this aspect is way too silly, too direct, makes no sense, shoved into us out of nowhere and contributes absolutely nothing to the story.
Congrats!

One of the main things this is a proof of concept for is an anthology series specifically. To just quote Aidan because what you said does relate to some of what he has:
"If you think it’s ABOUT the sci-fi and background elements, you might as well stop following because that ain’t it lol..."
"...another note for what it’s worth: if romance isn’t your thing there’s still a TON of different stories I still wanna tell in this universe.
One of the end goals here is to have a little something for everyone."
And about them arguing "I think this particular critique misunderstands the type of mortal danger being faced, coupled with a lack of direct explanation that the strobe creatures don’t really respond to sound."
@@bladerman4850 thanks for the clarification. Where did you get the last 3 quotes from so I can check more of it?
i completely agree with you, it was weird how the couple just treated a life threatening and world shattering apocalypse as an annoying little interruption to their conversation. every time the creature entered the scene, they freaked out for like two seconds and then were like 'ok whatever now back to our cheesy petty argument'. i have no doubt that everyone, no matter how dysfunctional their relationship is, would without even thinking about it, just get along and pay attention to the actual monsters that are two feet away
Good effort, good concept. I like when people mix genres that generally aren’t mixed together.
You're back FD!!
Don't be rude guys, he worked on this during a pandemic with very limited money. Aidan, if you see this, you did an amazing job
True... but a pandemic doesn't affect writing. Not being rude, just honest... the writing was not in the least bit interesting. The end credit scene did give a glimmer of hope, though.
@@dharvell I understand that, although this is just a proof of concept so I’m sure if they can pitch this to a studio it will be much better
@@cr1s500 If that does happen, I can't wait to see it in all of its potential glory.
I cant believe you came from just a twitter account to a mini movie. Im very excited for future projects :)
The relationship thing was stupid. I’ve recently learned about this, and did some research into it. I don’t know what happened.
No reason for any of it. I know this is a “””Proof of concept”””
But hopefully whatever we seen was a concept, and stays a concept, not going any further.
@@paulaj0y I can respect that as welI. But can certainly agree that I wish it were longer but, think that about everything I like though.
I really appreciate all the hard work that went into this film!
(That being said, imo the post-credits scene is the best part and the pre-credits should have been less dialogue heavy and more atmospheric so you get more of an idea what the world it like outside of their broken romance)
"Hey you wanna see a short film based on my horror ARG? Cool anyways watch this romance story."
This goes to show that experimental horror is better than anything I’ve seen since the slasher era…. This should be more popular and if I had the money I would produce this in a heartbeat
Aside the teen drama of course 😂
i mean its cool but... why the romance? the version on twitter was purly about survival and trying to figure out what is going on, i feel like the romance kinda brings it down
TSV has always been about relationships. Not romantic mostly, but still relationships. The original short film that ended up becoming the twitter series, Strobe, was still about 2 people in an enclosed space being forced to deal with their relationship.
YOOOOO WE ACTUALLY SEE TSV'S FACE AT THE POST CREDITS SCENE!
Indeed
my epileptic brother got so happy when looking at the intro that he started break dancing on the floor
Two people fighting about their relationship while the end of the world is going on
This was a great short film given covid restrictions! The post credits is so great, I’m excited and hoping for a TSV, Nat and tucker POV
To think this all started with one word
Help.
AIDAN!!!!! THE SOUND DESING/SCORING!!!! OMG
So happy to see how far The Sun Vanished has come over the years!
I don’t need a short film. I NEED A FULL MOVIE!!!
I wish Tucker was the boyfriend in the video and was left with the trauma of all of this shit. It would really build up a side character into a protaganist.
The imagery of a camera. The clicking… camera flashes. That’s… that’s terrifying.
Dude, this is great! I've discovered the Twitter AAR via Night Mind, and been following ever since. And now a short film! This has come so far. Great job!
The summary was better than the proof of concept, hands down. Best thing I’ve ever read.
I must confess I only now took a moment to watch this after chipping in for production three years ago - still a great spooky premise with a lot of potential!
Kinda ruined my expectations ngl, I wasn’t expecting loads out of this but man I still feel disappointed.
This is gonna be good I've waited for so long!
This is Perfect For A SSS it will be great! But Cory doesn't come back 😢
Oh geez let people explore a bit with their creativity you nerds. The romance isn't even that bad. I think it's interesting exploring how the sun literally god damn vanished and some humans will find a way to argue about something tiny which they think is more important. The human mind is weird like that
the camera man: i am immune to your bullsh*t
rip my man just had her ex running at his door only to get friendzoned ,shotout to him
I like the scenes with the videos from the Twitter side of tsv
While Hollywood keeps rehashing old loved films with female characters in place of the original men. But then some unknown guy on Twitter makes this amazing and scary story that I'm obsessed with. Keep up the good work my man you're doing some damn good work
What if u did a series but every ep is a new story from a differ pov and in the end they somehow come together, also I really loved this good job!
I personally believe that they both looked into the red light, causing them to irrationally argue with each other and is the reason the sun was in the background when they embraced each other, my proof being they would have no idea what the red light does and in the original story an insane guy’s scribblings mentioned the sun being back
THIS IS INCREDIBLE AND I REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS AS A FULL LENGTH FILM!!!!!
Been here since it all began. Can’t wait!
i rember his first post in like 2018 or somthing then summer hit it was fun getting updates
Sun: uhhhhh im not dealing with this. Im out.
earth: x.x
Gonna be honest, I don't really like this. It fails to capture the horror of the Twitter account and I don't know these characters, I don't care about an emotional scene of them arguing.
i can see what we're going for here, and unlike a lot of criticisms i dont actually mind jumping in midway through a story, its one of my favourite ways to do story telling. The problem i see is a lot more subtle in its execution but really jarring as the audience. unnatural dialogue. when you want to tell an extremely intimate and personal and character driven story - especially one dealing with complicated themes like a suicide attempt and the aftermath of it - you have to get the balance just right between telling the story you want to tell; and writing believable characters. unfortunately i think this story falls a little flat in that department, making for a somewhat uncomfortable watch. i love this world and i love this premise and this idea can definitely work in developing the cast of characters making their way in this strange dark world, but i think this story was extending beyond your reach - so far! we improve with every story we make, i cant wait to see what comes next. good luck aidan!
im gonna be honest I would rather have a movie about the character from the tweets or at least someone related to them
post credit scene
Me and my cousin having a deep conversation when we are supposed to be asleep. 10:39
Yall went WAY too much on the love story. Make it a bit more scifi and a little less romance, and more people would be interested.
i love how this concept based on a twitter mystery exists
Post credits: what we wanted
The film/story: could've been better
The cinematography: awesome
No.
bruh, it's a proof of concept. it's not a full story.
