I've finally figured out how to use my Canon M50 Mii as a webcam to host hybrid meetings each month. I've been muddling my way through it and have logged countless hours here on UA-cam and on OBS. The meetings I host are 90 mins in length and I'm using the setup (and many of the same products) you have shown on your channel. The last bit for me was lining up audio and video but I've done it and super excited to host the last meeting of the year today. We'll start again in January and the quality can only improve from here! Thank you for all of your videos!

I bought the Canon M50 for all of the hype reasons. I found that for action video, my GoPro Hero 7 Black does a better and outstanding job. But its not really good for pics with control and webcam. So I have the camera and I knew it's limitations, but the webcam thing was a bear to me. I spent so much time and a little money, ordering different cables, downloading apps, buying a HDMI video capture card and HDMI cables. All to no avail, I couldn't get the Beta app to work. In the end, it was simply using the USB micro to regular USB into my laptop, that is all the problem needed, 2 weeks and over a $100 later, I had the cable laying in a box of extra cables. Your video was simple, and sometimes, simple is good. Thanks so much.

Hi Markus. Our Zoom webinars run almost 2 hours. We currently have a Sony FDR AX-53 camcorder. I want to use it in a hybrid meeting setup, pointed towards the audience. Laptop is W10, running Zoom with speaker's webcam, HDMI output to overhead projector for PowerPoint. I assume that I need an Elgato Cam Link to transmit the Sony FDR signal? I guess there is no way to have both camera signals transmitted simultaneously showing both the speaker and the audience? Is the use of a Canon EOS somehow easier technically to setup for what I am trying to accomplish?

In principle, yes. Just make sure the camcorder has a clean HDMI out signal, meaning that it doesn't transmit all the on-screen display indicators. Also make sure it can transmit HDMI when in record mode. My Canon XF100 camcorder can only do it in playback mode, which makes it impossible to use as a webcam.

Thanks for watching!
What is the time limit not to burn your sensors down? Canon says 30 min, has anybody tried to live stream for 1-2 hours?
I regularly use the webcam until the battery dies, which is about two hours. So should be no problem at all.
Why i cant stream long time ? If i buy the battery charge adaptor i cant stream over 4-5 hours?
With a continuous power supply you can stream for as long as you want. Something like this: amzn.to/2IS4FEP
@ ty! I need to have the canon utility in task bar all time? Because it take a lot of cpu usage as i saw and this maybe it a problem with my fps in games while streaming. You know about this?
In order to use the Webcam Utility you actually need to quit the EOS Utility. So it shouldn't be a problem.
@ So eos utility is not running in background? How it work then?
I don't know how to answer this question I'm afraid.
Can I use it on iPad pro?
I'm afraid I'm not sure about that one, as I don't use Apple products.
Markus Seppälä thank you,I will use it with windows 👍🏻
Anyone know how to flip the image in webcam mode?
You mean flip it horizontally, right? At least in Zoom this can be done in the video settings: "Mirror my video".
@ Ah im using streamyard

Hi! will this work for song recording?:)
For the video part, yes. But you'll need to record the audio separately. I use a separate microphone for my video conferences and live streaming.
Спасибо большое, вы донксли все доходчиво и ясно! 👌 🙂
Thanks for watching!
to answer your question ,,, i want to use it to make my online magic shows look better,, also if you want i m doing free shows every week,, not sure if thats your thing,, lol ,,
That's a great use! I bet especially for magic it's essential to be able to frame the shot just right.
You look like the professor from La Casa de pappel
Thanks! Usually people tell me I look like Stephen King. I even talked about it here: ua-cam.com/video/MWCuUHf2zGk/v-deo.html

06:32 USING MAC??? not a solution for you..... Wish I would have known that before watching the whole video. Maybe put it in the title somewhere? Thanks!
That video is 2 years old. Now there is a Mac version.
can you use this for webex?
I haven't tried, but I would assume yes. The camera shows up as a webcam in Windows, so any application using a webcam should work. Though it's still beta, so it's not all perfect.
Too much
bla bla bla
Thanks for watching Aldo!
