I found this years ago and used to rent it on VHS from a Block Buster video. I am certain! No, positive! I am the only one who ever rented this in that town. I loved it and wore it out renting it multiple times. Glad to find this posted. Thanks for doing this. Man, I dig that crazy chick playing piano. Too cool!
Sublime!
I grew up hearing and enjoying his big band version of this; first time I've ever heard this one. What a marvelous display of Gillespie's versatility and genius. Who is that on the piano?
I think it is Michael Howell who took the guitar for this tune as Ray Brown came in, so Ed Cherry who was the chairman of it took a drink pause listening to guest Ray Brown jamming performance. Mike Howell was the bassman of tjis group by these years
girlmusician24 ....I thought she was pretty good, LOL! --- Valerie Capers was born in New York City in 1935, and she was the first blind person to graduate at the prestigious Juillard School of Music, which Miles Davis also attended....
@@tunefultonyjohnson4100 known fact Miles Dewey Davis was almost never at Juilliard... confirmed by his commensal Donald Getter who was always in class. Lol. MILES didnt need Juillard
Great tune and killer playing, Pretty sure I've seen my grandmother wear the exact outfit Diz has on...

That bass has been through mill.
Maybe so…but Mr. Brown plays that Instrument like it hasn’t even touched “the mill”.

After I'm elected President, this will replace Hail To The Chief whenever I walk into a room.

That's Rodney Jones on guitar. Super-fine performance all around, including but not limited to Dizzy and Ray Brown
Vic Schrader do you know any recordings where he plays this style?
Correction: The Guitarist is Ed Cherry, not Rodney Jones.

Ed Cherry - Guitar, right?
Right!
who is the guitar player?
Why does Valerie Capers have on a watch? She's blind. I've watched this video a lot and just noticed that she had on a watch.
She’s wearing a Braille watch.
She plays some bad ass piano in that watch for sure!
Who is the pianist?
Valerie Capers !?
Alright. I gotta know who's the female jazz pianist cause she's bad.
Valerie Capers
