Hi there. I highly appreciated your video. I really hope you may see this comment and even reply. My child has estropia and surgery was recommended. Her eye dose don’t always turn in. I really wishing not to do surgery but she complains about headaches almost daily and say is hard for her to focus here eyes. They tried the glasses on her but her vision is good and the glasses make it worst in her case. Really desperate here. Becouse it affects her daily. I really prefer not doing surgery.
I had surgery on one eye for my strabismus in the 80s as a 1 year old, and again on the other in the 90s at 13. I found the recovery, even as a young teen, to be much easier than the discomfort of the condition. If you live somewhere that the surgery would be covered then it may be a good option to consider. It looks scary, but it was a very simple procedure, from my perspective at least.
I have had surgery to correct this three times. The surgery is not extremely painful and works well to realign the eyes. Realignment does not guarantee stereoptic vision. That will need vision therapy. Both processes are helpful in treating strabismus. When the eyes wander, there can be long term issues with depth perception which can interfere with walking comfortably on uneven pavement, driving, reading and sports. Sudden or quick movements can cause dizziness or a loss of knowing where you are in space. Stairs, walking on slatted walkways or swinging can cause this as well. I have fallen down stairs because the drop down can be difficult to see. As your child grows, it may interfere with learning to drive. Most can drive but it takes a bit to adjust to the speed and changing positions relative to his/er space on the road. It can be terrifying. Social issues can also become troublesome. Bullying is an issue that many children with strabismus deal with. We not only look funny but we are slow to react with anything that requires eye focus. Because she is having headaches she is experiencing eye strain. This can also lead to worsening vision.
Do have any recommendation for treatment of exotropic strabismus for someone with only limited vision in the wandering eye? I have bern told surgery is not a good option for me because of Baervelt implants and corneal grafts. (Lots of issues!)
My kiddo was born with bicoronal craniosynostosis and had CVR and FOA at 18 months. Now, at years old, her Strabismus suddenly got worse. Is she more likely to need surgery than a regular person to correct? Dr. Didn't even mention therapy as an option. Just surgery.

Hello doctor. I have a 31-month-old boy, and the diopter was measured in the right eye +4.25 and in the left +4.75. The left eye looks towards the nose very often and the doctor recommended closing the right eye for 5 hours a day. He uses dioptre +5 and when he has glasses, his eyes cooperate, but without glasses, the left eye very often goes inward. I am very interested in your opinion and I am wondering if there is another way to force the left eye and reduce the diopter in both eyes? Thank you!
I have never had any depth perception, even after two strabismus surgeries, it's never helped. When they ask me if I can pinch the fly's wings, it's always completely flat. Had a surgery as a child, at it did make the eye look normal, then had one as an adult, and it stopped the double vision to some extent, but no depth perception. The eye is drifting about almost 3 years later after the second surgery. I don't really want another surgery that won't fix the problem if I have to have it every couple of years. At this point I think I just need to be reincarnated into a properly functioning body, preferably with super powers lol.
The video right under this when you search for strabismus exercises - different channel - is still saying that exercises aren't successful in treating strabismus, and then immediately recommends surgery. A surgery that caused my mom and many other people to go blind in one eye. I was at an opto a few days ago and they gave me a little (free) pamphlet with some basic exercises to do at home, and said if there's no change in three months they'll tell insurance that I need vision therapy. I asked her about surgery and she had this horrified expression "Absolutely not, we only perform surgery for eye turn if it's severe and only after trying therapy." It's almost like a surgery that could, by nature, permanently blind one eye, should be taken more seriously than a cash grab.
I did glasses for my son when he was 2. His optometrist said it would assist in helping his strabismus and his eyes would get better. When his glasses were on his eyes were straight. However After 6 months I noticed it made the strabismus worse every time he took of his glasses. I took his glasses and noticed he went back to his intermittent strabismus. I am trying to do my best to do vision therapy. He is only 4 and has a hard time focusing. If you have any pointers or advice it would be greatly appreciated 👍
My child is 4 with the same problem. The glasses must be worn all the time and so their eyes will develop correctly and hopefully will outgrow it when they get older.
@@wavesonswim8738 my mother had esotropia as a child and glasses fixed it. Her eyes no longer cross and she only wears reading glasses. She's 63 now. How do you feel about Syntonics as part of vision therapy for strabismus? I have heard it can be very effective.
Awesome !!
Eye stretches and engagement? Is that just moving your eyes around?
My kiddo was born with bicoronal craniosynostosis and had CVR and FOA at 18 months. Now, at years old, her Strabismus suddenly got worse. Is she more likely to need surgery than a regular person to correct? Dr. Didn't even mention therapy as an option. Just surgery.

Is there any exercises i can do to try correcting my 6th nerve palsy issue?
Hi, you mentioned in the video that there are exercises for lazy eye improvement, which we can download for free on your website. Please can you provide the link, as I can't find the aforementioned material on your website? I'm guessing your website has since been updated, since this video.
I don't live in America, so would be extremely grateful to try and improve my lazy eye, with the learnings of this incredible team, even if it's merely doing the exercises, by myself.
I hope you'll respond to this comment.
We created a vision therapy library of exercise videos on UA-cam. Please see your UA-cam page for such exercises.

I think I have an intermittent strabismus because when I look at the mirror, my eyes work together but according to others when I'm looking at them, they say my eyes don't work as a team but I didn't notice it. Is it still curable since I'm now 20 years old? Is there any exercises to treat this? Thank you

Thank you!
You mean u have a two year old?
A three-year-old boy now.
I've realised that she didn't answer the question
I have never had any depth perception, even after two strabismus surgeries, it's never helped. When they ask me if I can pinch the fly's wings, it's always completely flat. Had a surgery as a child, at it did make the eye look normal, then had one as an adult, and it stopped the double vision to some extent, but no depth perception. The eye is drifting about almost 3 years later after the second surgery. I don't really want another surgery that won't fix the problem if I have to have it every couple of years. At this point I think I just need to be reincarnated into a properly functioning body, preferably with super powers lol.
@@PhaethonCrafts try vision therapy.

Is playing tetris is good for strabismus? Thank you ❤
iam from india, is there any free treatment to my squint eye or any donater please
I asked her about surgery and she had this horrified expression "Absolutely not, we only perform surgery for eye turn if it's severe and only after trying therapy."
It's almost like a surgery that could, by nature, permanently blind one eye, should be taken more seriously than a cash grab.
Does the surgery cause blind?
Can u please share the eye exercises pamphlet
I’m 27 and have worn glasses for estropia since I was a toddler. The glasses will not fix it, trust me
@@wavesonswim8738 my mother had esotropia as a child and glasses fixed it. Her eyes no longer cross and she only wears reading glasses. She's 63 now. It varies depending on severity of the esotropia, when it's caught and the strength of prescription when caught is what I was told by her doctors. They can usually tell if a child will outgrow it. I was told it's 50'50 with my child.
I do have a question though. How high was your persription as child? Also, as you got older did the prescription increase or decrease?
@@wavesonswim8738 this is so right glasses don’t help at all, you have to treat the issue within… I took my glasses off and eyes sight improved dramatically holistically
@@hoganmisses7448 well it may not have been the glasses as some children do outgrow it. My prescription was strong and I still wear glasses to this day.
I had visited eye doctor when i was 7 or 8. They told me to wear eye glasses. Now i am 13 and my parents say that my eye is going inwards can it be treated with corrcet eye prescription?

What about prism?
My Ayes like that but I really have very lowww vision since I was born I'm not looking straight to the person or things
Hey, just wanted to ask if wearing an anti radiation glasses can be corrected the eyes that have a squint or strabismus I am not inborn that have strabismus or squint i use too much phone when i was in grade 1 one day my parents see that my eyes are not perfectly working please help me correct my eyes again i am from Philippines
I had the esetropia one when I was a baby and got surgery to fix it. 13 years later its fine, but when I wear my glasses it makes that eye look like it has the exotropia one. when my glasses are off, my eyes go straight. the eye doctor told me that theres no change in my perscription and theres no way to fix it. she said contacts would make my eye turn too. I have trouble seeing without my glasses but my eyes are straight like that. I see better with them but my eye goes outward when they’re on. any idea why?
Is it okay if I just leave it be?

Is it possible for an adult (47) to develop strabismus? Also, is it possible for both inward and outward movement?
Hi Jason, I am now 64 and I started having some subtle symptoms of strabismus about 20 years ago. It went undiagnosed until about four years ago when it had progressed to a point where it was affecting me on a day to day basis. I've had a consultation with a surgeon and am now exploring non-surgical options. I hope this answer is helpful.
@@elisabethgreen9654 Hi Elisabeth, which non-surgical options have you been trying? I am an adult that wants to improve it as well
anyone else notice this doctor is cross-eyed, too? She could be speaking from first-hand experience
Exactly. Left eye is clearly turning in
I don't mean to be rude , but isn't your left eye not coordinated with your right. I see this asymmetry in my grandson. It does not seem normal to me.. Stop the video at 2:02 to see what I mean.. I'm trying to figure our what to do for my son
Very Common in Asian genetics. Chances are she can see perfectly fine though

Many people tilt their head when they talk, it goes with culture for example Canadian and Indians tilt their heads while in conversation but not in the same way.
