I really just want to know the costs so I save up for vision therapy. I had surgery in 2016 but my eye turned back and it looks even smaller than the other one ever since surgery. All this has really been affecting my confidence.
Every practice is different and will give you an estimate up front. Vision therapy is an investment and a lot of work, but will hopefully pay off! We have seen lots of success with people unhappy after strabismus surgery.
My pediatrician claims "there's no evidence it works", which appears to be the official american pediatric opthamalogy position. I'm just getting started in researching this but it appears something like the battle between MDs and chiropractors and anything holistic.
@@rsjcmp2285 Do you know what's so sad, sometimes eyes operation doesnt work too, Because as the guy from the video says: if your brain doesnt know how to see well, after the operation you could still having double vision. I got eye operation when I had 23 years old if I am not wrong, at the start it helped, but after a few months you start having again double vision. I dont have a several problem, my eyes seem normal if someone looks at me (even before the eyes operation), but with some exercises I've improved a lot with my vision.
@@jhoncontsan4299hey there ı have also double vision and my eyes also seem normal if someone looks at me (in addition ı had my lasik surgery 2 weeks ago ) which exercises made your vision better could you help me ?
@@yagizefesolak Is your double vision monocular (just there with one eye) or binocular (present with both eyes open and goes with either eye closed). Monocular is more likely due to blurred vision and a need for glasses/change in prescription/cataract etc. Binocular is due to the eyes not working together and then prisms may help. You would need to see an orthoptist.
The only reason to have prisms in your glasses is to stop double vision by either helping the eyes work together or putting an image into a supression area where it can be ignored. Some muscle problems such as convergence insufficiency can be treated with exercises and prisms may not be needed, but other problems can only be treated with prisms. Each case should be looked at individually.
I had binocular vision until I had a stroke in 2011. Then I gradually started to have double vision and it's been getting worse by the month over the past 10 years. It is not a stable condition but a continuously deteriorating condition. I have tried I exercises we should only gave temporary relief but no longer work at all because the condition is now so bad.
Thanks this perfectly explains what my son with strabismus is dealing with...he will have surgery then vision therapy ( our insurance won't let him do therapy until after his surgery).
thanks so much for sharing this it was so informative! I used to have strabismus when I was a kid and I had laser eye surgery recently which triggered it to come back. this was very helpful to understand
Anita, we use a blend of old school tools and knowledge mixed with cutting edge equipment like virtual reality and 3-D tv trainers. It is really all about having the right optometrist understanding your vision and where they can go!
What about when an eye is rotated? My left eye is rotated and it is providing a image that is about 15 to 20° off of what my right eye sees. If my left eye dominates my head is cocked to the right to see level. If my right eye dominates my head is straight.
Hi, Is this a problem you have had since childhood or a recent problem? It sounds like you may possibly have a weakness of your superior oblique muscle which can be congenital or caused by a 4th nerve palsy. It sounds like when you tilt your head you are doing something that we do in practice called a bielchowsky head tilt test which helps diagnosis. You really need to see an ophthalmologist to look at this particularly if it is of recent onset.
Strabismus surgery is really hard to get right. The problem is typically in the brain and the way it controls the eyes, but surgery happens on the eye muscles. They also have to be extremely precise down to the millimeter. Studies show the average # of surgeries until success eye alignment is achieved is 1.8, so most people need more than 1 surgery.
How can I do a proper vision therapy (with multiple activities) at home?

After how long it’s come back and what was vision of your lazy ( cross) eye?
Why is vision therapy not talked about a lot?

Thank you, do you have online programs for people that live worldwide? I live in Israel... thanks in advance! Eli
If you are wearing prismatic lenses, do they interfere with retraining the eyes to work together?

Hi, have you seen someone like an orthoptist who specialises in double vision? We would normally try to join the double vision using fresnel prisms.
