- Do you use a spinner reel but want to switch to a baitcasting reel? In this how-to video, LTB pro-angler Scot Arganbright demonstrates the basics of using a baitcaster with tips for preventing the dreaded bird's nest.

🎣 Slow down your spool by setting your baitcaster breaks to four or five.
🎣 When you're ready to dial in your cast control knob, hit your spool release casting button. Watch how fast the bait drops to the water. If it drops quickly, turn down the cast control knob up a little to prevent the spool from spinning too freely. If your bait doesn't fall into the water, you'll need to dial the cast control back (counterclockwise), watch the bait as it falls. If it falls slowly, you're set up perfectly.
🎣 When casting into the wind, turn up the breaks and tighten up your cast control knob. Go with lighter baits that will catch the win, like jerkbaits and spinnerbaits.

great video! can you do a video on how to cast the RAPALA RIPSTOP far with the casting rod ?
No spool tension, breaks at about 60% to 70% on. If you do this you'll get the farthest distance possible, better working drag, and reduced backlashes. I don't have to touch my spool tension knob ever again and I only have to adjust the brakes if it gets windy.
Best wat to cast it is to go to the bank and eyeball your spot. Then toss this pile of shit into the water. Grab a spinning reel. Trying to reinvent the wheel
