sorry i never saw this but yep, this is fully intentional. it's supposed to keep the old dynamic of making baiting burst very dangerous - afaik it is pretty much how it worked pre-block changes (without the first 10 frames of softblock). but you're right it's not intuitive, and theres probably a better solution
Yeah most people were telling me it was intentional. I'm mostly worried about players who aren't in the know. But I am making an extensive guide to on how block works now. Also, the way it used to work, you'd actually get a parry off of this interaction within the 10 frames since attacking a block that already started worked that way.
I feel like it might be intentional- reading burst with block during a combo is intended to work like old block, and be equally punishable by not bursting.
that's true, but considering that protection is followed by 10f of endlag, the block would only help against some projectiles and players who don't understand how it works, i think
Yo, completely unrelated to the video- BUT- Just found this channel and binged the videos that go through the basics. Loved them and helped me get into the game, very sad to find out he’s not uploading anymore. But I hope he’s doing well. And hopefully one day he starts uploading again because his editing is *mwah* chefs kiss, simple, fast and straight to the point whilst still being clear and concise
I was able to replicate this and I believe it has something to do with cowboy being -1 on the block... As you can block normally on different parts of the combo without being down frame.
Even if 10 frame protection was intentional the whole burst parry midgame should be the one thing remain the same in 1.8 block safe neutral is already busted as it is now doesn't need to be in combos
I had one match where I parried 2 bursts and the opponent was able to attack right after so I couldn't punish but then they parried me once and punished me heavily and I lost due to it, so idk what's going on Edit: It hasn't happened since that match so for all I know they coulda been hacking or a 1 time glitch, who knows
@ice7149 I'm working on a video for it. But basically, each attack hits on a specific frame normally and you need to set the parry slider to that timing. If you select the enemy move you want to parry and then select block, it will auto set the slider to parry the attack, but it doesn't correct for things that will affect the attacks timing

If this is intentional, then my paranoia of burst would just be gone. It would also make parrying burst a lot more hype.
well, blocking during your combos is perfectly safe if you have excessive hitsun. Like 25+ or so.

but before it would have given you some kind of protection within the first 10 frames of block

@@alexuelmen932 I suppose so. But I'll let Ivysly answer, because it feels like it could go either way.

I'm O.K. with this being left as is. Also makes ninja's backsway that much more valuable for reading bursts

I'm not sure i understand
you ever coming back? I really hope so cause you helped me a lot

block safe neutral is already busted as it is now doesn't need to be in combos
note to self: never attempt a burst parry
This is intentional, block is unsafe if used in combos
no way new yomi learn videoo!!!

If you didn't set the parry timing correctly, it won't parry. So you would end up with both players actionable.
@@YomiLearn Yeah I need to learn how that parry timing meter works still lol
