When people my age were listening to ABBA, I was enjoying and listening to Al Di Meola. I still love Al today, but now I also listen and enjoy ABBA, go figure.
😂😂😂😂😂😂lmao. Too funny bro
It is difficult me to fathom that this multi talented guitarist has only won ONE Grammy throughout his five-decade career (RTF’s No Mystery, 1975), he should’ve at least six within the last 30 years, IMO! But he continues to deliver knockout after knockout filling the seats, or in this case, standing room only. I’ve yet to see him concert, but the concerts I’ve seen on film and online, he NEVER disappoints.
I had the privilege of seeing Al Di Meola Project in 1985 when they played the entire Soaring through a Dream album. It was an awesome show! I also saw them perform the Cielo e Terra concert. It was soooo nice. He did two different versions of Traces (of a tear).
Thank you for sharing all this. There are very few bands that can approach this sound and kill it all!!!
Saw Al DiMeola with Rite of Strings many years ago! Fantastic live!
I'm a 16 year old guitar player that grew up listening to Metallica, Maiden, Sabbath, The Who, GnR, etc. and I've recently grown to love players like Al, Holdsworth, Guthrie, Zappa, Vai, Satch, and George benson!! It's amazing how talented some musicians are, that don't seem to get enough recognition.
I guess they're only reserved for the trained ears ;)
It's good to see that young people such as yourself still care about broadening their musical horizon
Yes;but you are learning man. Jazz Fusion and Jazz Rock is the best. Try Frank Zappa, he was a genius
You'd be surprised how much recognition those you listed received, especially from other musicians. You just needed to get into the right circles and away from the radio. I've been listening to those guys since the early 70's. I know your comment is seven years old but i hope you have continued to play. Another one you should hear is John Goodsall on Unorthodox Behavior by Brand X.
Al started out in the seventies in Chick Corea's famous band Return To Forever. They were huge, not like Lady Gaga is huge today, they would support some top acts of Lady Gaga like bigness back then. We are talking about arena concerts. They also sold millions of records. This would be impossible these days. But my point is, there is a lot of recognition for cats like Al. I discovered him for myself too when I was sixteen. And at that age I felt pretty much the same as you. Saw him once live, and Chick twice, of which the first concert was one of the best I ever saw. So, my point is, don't worry, I am convinced that in thirty years there will be another kid stumbling across a grainy AdM YT video wondering how the hell he does what he does and be hooked up for the rest of his life. And if you ever have the opportunity, go and see him live. God knows, how long he will be around.
Class musicians. Can't believe it took me til 30 to appreciate this...
Taste comes to those who try
I saw this show at Berkeley in Boston. Even though I was in the back, the acoustics were great. Amazing era in his career
Seen AL play many times, never a dull moment! Awesome Guitarist!!!
Richie Gonzalez on drums. I met him when he was with Spyro Gyra. What a nice dude!!
I was rehearsing in the studio with an artist and he let me help him unbox his brand new kit from pearl. Let me play it too. Thanks a lot ricjie for being you ..Love u Brother!!!
First, thank you for sharing this. What a treasure! Second, the sound and camera work compliments what the band is doing. The cameraman actually zooms in on Al's fingers when burning through his hot runs (and not on the drummer's foot.) Third, what a fantastic band. They all really cook. Last,as always, Al is phenomenal. Thanks again.
and Barry Miles - "Father of Fusion Music" on keyboards.
Love the way Richie Morales plays drums .
love this concert the material from kiss my axe really translates great live, kudos to Al 👍👍👍
this also probably the best electric guitar sound he has gotten live, the PRS is not even close to this LP black beauty 👍👍👍
@@vikramjitbanerjeetuki Yes I think that Gibson is his favorite! I know it's mine.
That's a whole room full of people who get it..amazing time for Dimeola's music
Yes indeed!
What a great show. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you i love al
Richie morales...❤️
I can follow every change up in this peace👉✌️
Well Done. I watched first time on Laserdisc &
listened through the speakers Atlas MK II, in 1993.
Laserdiscs. An LP-sized CD that was way ahead of its time. The predecessor to the DVD.
MAN, I’m old! This was definitely a part of my teenage years, I was in high school when both the Kiss My Axe album and this concert came out! No one can hold a candle to Al di Meola. He’s been the man for nearly five decades now. Love him!
yees yeeeeees! keep those Aldi concerts coming ! :D
We love Al !!
flippin great! thanks for this!
Great
Something is not right starting at 17:40. It's looks like a recorded guitar track was actually playing. ....because his fingering didn't match with the sound......watch closely because hides behind the sheet music stand to try and cover it up......anyone notice this?
Damon Wille you’re hearing a keyboard line. Al ain’t fakin’...
UA-cam video and sound are rarely together which accounts for what you are seeing. It's called "Buffering". Not much you can do about it.
17:28 is beautiful. Stellar and precise.
Palladium was such a great performance center in NYC and now is an NYU dorm for students built in that exact same spot back in late 1990s. I heard it`s also called Palladium. That is sad !
muy linda la parte de tango
Funny how it's all just mostly guys in the audience. What a precision talent and great performer. Love all his albums. Band is top notch too!
ilike alll this musicians and ai di meola music it s like him
Thanx, man! Right stuff!
CONCIERTO ÉPICO
Nice video.
13:34 This guy is living in 1992 while we're living in 2017.
I'm surprised they gave him one grammy, they wouldn't know talent if he hit them over the head with his les paul.
The Embrace at 41:10

Muy bueno!!! :-j
GETTING REALLY SICK OF THE COMMERCIALS
AGSBraintoast I'm also getting even more sick of getting malware of such viruses from downloading adblock. LOL
5 years later, how do you like them now? It's so much worse.
Download Origin Blocker. ublock-origin.en.softonic.com/
also 44:25 is pure genius :D
Rumor has it that Coppola's coming out of retirement & making The Godfather 4......Starring as Vito Corleone none other than Al Di Meola
They don't make them like they used to...
pavle vivec Indeed. I think it was right after this that he took a rather 'unique' turn in his music. From Return to Forever to Elegant Gipsy to Tour De Force and Friday Night Live in San Francisco, those were the incredible years. I do like some of the stuff from World Symphonia but for the most part I'm with you.
:-))
