3:24 "Drill a nice clean hole" LOL
That's the only holes I like to drill.

Im pretty handy but I always watch DIY videos before I tackle a project. My two concerns where answered in the comments - No need to worry about water seeping in holes and nothing behind the vinyl siding to worry about when drilling. That puts my mind at ease. Thanks!
You did a really nice job explaining the project!
I'm about to install shutters and hadn't thought to install the pushpin locks into the center two holes to set the shutter place before finishing the top two and bottom two holes. So thanks!
Glad to help and good luck on the install
This is a good video. Simple, precise and very informative. Appreciate it.

Glad it was helpful!
Thanks buddy

Great video, thanks!!
Thanks man
If I have an older holly park singlewide, should I drill the 3 1/4 in into the siding, since the walls are thin?
Looks very nice
Thank you! Cheers!
excellant kooks good !!!
Thank you 😋
I’m building my own wooden shutters. Would the shutter locks work with wood too?
Thanks for the video. My shutter lock broke off into the side of the house. Any tips to remove it? I tried with center punch but it wasn’t moving.
do you have video installing shutter on stucco
They look great! Looking to adding those to my house. How wide are the shutters ?
Anything to consider before drilling into the siding? I'm surprised it's so simple as I was considering things that may be under/behind the siding. Thanks!
Behind the siding is the wood sheathing to your home, and or strapping. Both are not a concern.
I have shutter locks that failed due to age/ friction & wind getting underneath.....any suggestions on how to remove old locks & replace/repair?
And how do you use them when time to use them happens
Hi, you made it look so easy! Do you know if those shutter locks will work with wood shutters and aluminum siding? Got a upcoming project and I would like to use those shutter locks if I can. Thank you
❤
What do you do if there’s a light fixture right next to the window and you’re putting shutters on
What’s the best way to accomplish this on windows that are 2 and 3 stories high?
My contractor installed them but it doesn’t look flat to me it looks like it’s curved. Do you think it was drilled in too much from top n bottom?
👍👍👍
Thanks
How well will those plastic push pins hold the shutter? 🤔 Mine are still held in with deck screws.
Wonder if this will cause water seeping behind the siding, especially if the siding is vinyl, for wood siding, it's probably not a problem.
No it doesn't really make a watertight seal, will just drain right out onto the ground.
You should reread the instructions… You’re only supposed to drill 2-1/4” holes into the siding only, NOT into the sheathing as you did drilling by drilling 3-1/4” holes.
•Also if you flip the shutters over they are pre marked where the holes go.👍
Did you worry about hitting any electric or anything inside the wall or not deep enough?
It depends on your home construction and what is behind the wall. In most cases, your siding is hung on stapping that is outside of the sheathing and house wrap. If you hout is a typical North America build you are not drilling deep enough (or atleast should not be) where as you would penetrate the houses envelope and shouldnt be worring about hitting anything. That said, be smart and think about how your house is constructed, ensure you wouldn't accidentally hit something, and if all else fails ask for help from a liscensed contractor.
Do you not need to worry about making the holes somehow watertight for rain etc? Seems almost too easy
Nope, pretty low amount of water is going to get in there anyways, and keep in mind same could happen in the cracks and spaces of your siding. It all drains down because the siding is mounted away from the house so it gets air flow. No concerns
I like the before better lol.
So this guy doesn't know how shutters work.
Can you enlighten the ignorant?
