- This is my humble tribute to Led Zeppelin.
The song is Hello Mary Lou (Goodbye Heart), originally by Ricky Nelson. This is part of the "Whole Lotta Love Medley" on Disc 3, of "How the West Was Won"
-----------------
Special thanks to two brown eyed girls: Rosie and Soso.
I'm Ricky Nelson and I approve this message.
Hahahahaha ~
Led Zeppelin performing this song gives me so much joy!!
Don't forget people that this cover was at the end of a near 3 hour concert by Led Zeppelin in 1972. They'd been playing for over 2 hours straight before they did this cover during Whole Lotta Love. It's not as if they recorded it in a studio when fresh.
True!!!
this is rock n roll at MAX. Level , NO rock n rolla could play it so Brilliant like the mighty Led Zeppelin , this is just awesome !!
i.never heard Led Zeppelin do this song before....they Rock Out on this ...very cool 😎
Being 75 yrs old this year my wife and I used to Quickstep to this brilliant piece. Years ago!
I always get this particular performance of this particular version of this particular part of the Whole Lotta Love Medley stuck in my head. Don't you hate when that happens?
Same.
I love it!!!! I had to find it just now because it was rolling around in my head. Led Zep was generally just a killer cover band,so why not listen to another great cover they did.
I yearn for the day I hear a passing stranger humming this version
Yeah.
Fuckin sucks when it's not included in the Japanese iTunes
Is there a particular reason this Particular part of this particular version gets stuck in your head?... 😆🤣
HaHa every band seems to have covered this song. I love the song and Led Zeppelin is my favourite band so this is perfect.
I loved it!!! Bonham made the song his own as he so often did.
everything they touch becomes gold
I swear, I was watching Led Zepplin at the foot of the stage in Berkley Amphitheater 1970 or so )I have pics) and I remember thinking it would be cool if they would break out into Hello Mary Lou or something. They did the very next song. Who's gonna believe that? After all these years I thought maybe I imagined it. You tube is amazing
Best version for sure!!
is the queen version
@@Plasticmilxy but this one is much better
This one and queen version are the best
@@Plasticmilxy HELL no
@@donnixofficial6306 no
Best version in the world. The JPJ and Bonzo's rhythm/groove is fucking great and Page is superb as always. I would love to see them playing this live
Led Zeppelin!!!! A great Band!!!!
This is sooo awesome...
Greatest of all time
Great editing, I loved the nuances like when jimmy's solo seemed to sway the colour transition emulated that
I tripped across this page while searching for other Zeppelin stuff...and I have to say this:
You may say this is your 'humble' tribute', but I found it totally enjoyable.
You did an awesome job with this...you choreographed it perfectly ..right down to the beats and riffs.
"Humble" ...maybe....but amazing work and time was put into this...and I enjoyed it immensely!
Thumbs up!
Pagey ! , but listen to JPJ , his bass is also awesome , together they build this AWESOME rock n roll stuff , i LOVE it !!
Led Zeppelin Forever !
My high school friend was the drummer in Rick Nelson's band at the end,he's smiling up in heaven after hearing this
oh my! what a version! 👏👏👏🩷🩷🩷
What a great version! I wonder if Ricky ever heard this. I’m sure he would’ve loved it if he did. Thanks for posting.
youre so right!! the original version is cool, and all of the covers are the same, but Zeppelin did something original and yet great cover.
yeah, zeppelin played it with an electric guitar, not acoustic like it originally was (also in covers of other bands)
Hey this is a fantastic tribute video, thanks for sharing it - worldwide enthusiasm for the greatest Rock band ever is just so infectious eh! I salute you for taking the time to put this together!
PURE GENIUS!!!
I love the editing in this video you can tell whoever made this was creative and having fun with it. 😊
.. most excellent video tribute !!
great band !!!!

Bravo!!
HAHAHA his face at 1:46!! Priceless picture!
Very impressive video editing skills! Image changes are right on the beat. I like this cover, I wish there was some lesson on how to play the guitar part.
This is so damn good. He’d love it!!
this is from whole lotta love medley off of how the west was won.........GREAT STUFF!!! A+++++++
I LOVE IT
great video and great sync!! 5 / 5!!
i love led zepp lol
Hell yeah!!!
i came here because i wanted to see the original one, because i know the Queen one. and i now think that Queen did it with that "flashback" section along with tutti frutti, because Brian (and the band too..) loved and modeled Led Zepplin. Bri LOOVED them haha
Hello Mary Lou - Ricky Nelson
I said "Hello Mary Lou, Goodbye heart,
Sweet Mary Lou, I'm so in love with you
I knew Mary Lou, We'd never part
So “Hello Mary Lou, Goodbye heart."
Passed me by one sunny day, flashed those big brown eyes my way
And oo I wanted you forever more
I'm not one that gets around, swear my feet stuck to the ground
And though I never did meet you before
Saw your lips I heard your voice, believe me I just had no choice,
Wild horses couldn't make me stay away.
Thought about a moonlit night, my arms around you good an' tight,
That's all I had to see for me to say.
who the FUCK dont like this song ? 1 ppl are maybe some kind of deaf alien , or hittin the wrong button , i mean this is rock n roll guitar at total perfection ..
Awesome ! you did A GREAT job ;)
Queen also used to perform this great song.
Should be "Hello Mary Lou, Goodbye Health"
.. NICE video .. my favorite bit (almost) .. :)
great video
Queen also does a terrific cover. Easy find with a UA-cam search
Earth Soul RocknRoll...
New Riders of the Purple Sage does a great version of this song, too. 💜 ✨️
* * * * *
like it
Awesome song, my name's in it! :D
order of covers of this song:
Led Zeppelin > Creedence Clearwater Revival > Queen (at Wembley) > Ricky Nelson
yeah Queens version (or half version rather) was awesome, Freddy sung it beautifully, and Brian May sung his part well :-)
Having BONZO as your drummer was a literal CHEAT CODE
Okay‼
Plant at the height of his powers.
did not know zep covered this....killer
Rick Nelson versão LED Zeppelin
Tem a versão do Queen também
great video! awesome pics! just an fyi, this is from disk 3, not 2 :-)
What about this version of Hello Marylou ?
fun!!
As this comment so ably demonstrates you know the square root of fuck all about music, they're both excellent covers but be under no allusion as to greatness of the musical phenomena that is "Queen" (y)
WOOT!! haha!!
okay I understand italian is so dificult !! english is simple: the verbs are simple the words too --italian noy: a modern latin however it s a beautiful language as the greek ..I study ancient greek at the school it ' so difficuuuuuuult !! I hate it sometimes but is the modern greek as difficult as the ancient one???
Better than Queen version
spanish is more similar to latin than italian because the languages further from latin mantained the characteristics of the latin .instead in italy when rome fell down latin was the first thing to feel this falling ... then barbarians tribes of germany french did the rest.. I studied latin in my school and its difficult so that many people understand nothing of it!!XD
My favorite version is by Danny Gatton and the Fat Boys. This version by Zeppelin is higher than Ricky Nelson and the Danny Gatton, i'm pretty sure.
*favoriots*
Did they claim the writing credits for this too?
treefrog1956 hehe....
tenfoldmmm Well, did they? It sounds pretty heavy-handed to me.
+treefrog1956 it's from when the west won , they played this as a part of a 25 minute long rendition of Whole Lotta love , so calmar sus tetas.
+Momo D Mis tetes son tranquilos. Siempre.
Definately
ZEPPELIN
@Mintervention probably one of the honly bands i won't fault you for comparing them too..but sorry zeppelin wins everytime
The playing is a bit chaotic and out of sync but Zep surely had fun playing this..
reminds me of Hot Dog
Nice but, not as good as Ricky Nelson/JB's version.
Way better than JB
James Burton's solo is legendary and unbeatable.
Jimmy Page is better. Have to remember this is after a 2-hour show, this was the closing song in the middle of Whole Lotta Love in 1972. I have the whole thing on a bootleg vinyl
TheTroll Mastah how much was it on vinyl?
Got it at a pawn shop for $10 haha.
It's blue, has a picture of JP and Robert and just says L.A Form. They released it on How The West Was Won (CD 3). It says Angel Records on both the vinyls
I am both great LZ and Queen fan, But LZ version is better. Probably if Freddie did it 70-s it would be another story.
should have called James Burton to do the guitar solo
Definitely needs more cowbell.
Tab?
jimmyfuckin page my hero
Good, but Queen's version at Wembley Friday 11th June 1986 is better... you can hear Freddie is a big fan or Ricky's
That version is awful.
Freddy forgot the words right in the middle.
This isnt a bullshit acoustic version. This is an in your face version. the musicianship its self is worthy of decades of study.
+Michael Roberson He didn't forget the words he did it in every concert to let Brian May sing. It was just banter. i ain't saying this is bad btw cos it's great. i just prefer the Queen one.
Yeah, like Plant didn't mess the words up too.
and the next part is...
Victor Casillas Well....... I did not say.... I was a millionaire....
Sorry LZ and Bobby Plant, but you ain't no Ricky Nelson, you just don't have THE voice or the band that can do this song justice. You also fall several magnitudes behind Statler Brothers in their cover of the song.
But to your credit you carry it off better than than Freddie Mercury and Queen did.
Even greats like Led Zeppelin and Queen are not great at everything or have the right voices for all songs.
I prefer it sung by Freddie!
they fucked up the lyrics royally, but who cares, awesome band, awesome song!
Freddie's version is better
Yeah !!!
Both are amazing!
bolt blaster I prefer Queen's too lol.
LMAO!
Can't stand Queen, but I do know Plant was mustaches favorite singer
Unlistenable.
queen cover is better, sorry but thats true :(
Led Zeppelin Version is better.
Queen? hauahuahhaua What a Joke
Yawn
wow... it's visible again... my old account!
man I thought I had my account blocked cause of this :))
