Great examples! Appreciate the way you broke it down
Great stuff. Good to see you back!
Just to the point. Thanks from Colombia, South America!
Thank you so much for your insight, realy helped to improve my grades 👌
Thanks for sharing, I learnt a lot from this tutorial. 😎👍
Top stuff ❤!!! Thanks a million. 😊
Great video. Love the breakdowns and the discussion of reference materials!
Glad you enjoyed it!
KEEP MAKING CONTENT! You’re the best at it 👊🏽 UA-cam University needs you 😂
Thanks for another great video. Always enjoy these.
Can i ask, do you have any idea what is going on with that Node tree in the images you show at the start of this video? (45>48 seconds in).
It looks like you can organise the nodes in a different way > and i had no idea i could do this. Do you have any ideas how (sorry if it's obvious, but i can't see how it's done).
Thanks again. I specifically like long-form videos about the Craft/art of colour grading. How to see, how to show. How to think about colour.
Great stuff. Appreciated.
Runhaar, thank you for very educative tutorials. At 5min 34 sec you flash through your timeline nodes. In there it can be seen that the Timeline in Omniscope settings is selected as Rec 709 full. Then I suspect that the node (02) prior to the Omniscope node (01) is a CST to Rec 709 . But what is the input setting for that CST node? Is it from the camera footage or from the DWG of your timeline?
Thank you in advance for your kind answer
You are best in explaining stuff and it makes a lot of sense. Pls dont stop making these videos.
I have qn: when i am grading multiple clips for which the director wants to have a common theme in terms of color, isnt it better to start off the grading process with balance node? What i have observed is, there are only rare cases where i would get the shots that are even and when i try to bring them to a common color theme,it takes lot of to and fro. But if i work on bal and do a round on bal adj on all clips, it "seems" easier to then apply a look and work on exp cont sat. What do you think?
Before applying your look for the entire project, yes you'll need to make sure your shot is balanced also known as color corrected. The three nodes that you would use is the Exp, Contr and Balance Node to do this
Thanks
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I'm curious as to your thoughts on putting your saturation node before balance. It seems like most colorists have BAL before SAT. In your list of nodes verbally you had it that way but in your example you had it after. Would love to get your thoughts on that. And thanks again.
Hey Tim,
You can definitely do either. I tend to do my "normal" saturation in my contrast node, because adding contrast directly affects saturation. Then I go to my balance node. After that I might then add a node and add a "different" type of Saturation - Example the HSV density saturation technique
@@runhaar1 That makes a lot of sense. I hadn't thought of doing any basic saturation adjustment in my exposure / contrast node, but that does solve the other question I had of wanting to always have an HSV sat node in my tree but still being able to do "normal" saturation adjustments with either color boost or the saturation nob on the mini panel. So I may try doing those in my EXP node going forward. Thank you!
How can I enable the function to hover over colours and see them on my histogram/parade?
Click on the three dots on your scope tab in the bottom right of the color page and select - Display Qualifier Focus
But where is the dune clip😅
muhahahah
