    Hi guys, I realized a small mistake in the video- I said that glycine helps to grow the villi in the small intestine and repair leaky gut. It is actually glutamine that does that. But don't worry, they are both found in gelatin! :)

      @@nofantasyguy Hi Abu, thank you! Yes I know what you mean because I was bothered by it too, but couldn't figure out how to fix it. (Very frustrating 😂) Since then I started using a different mic and editing program. I think that annoying sound is gone in the newer videos but if you find it is hard to listen to, please tell me. I want them to be enjoyable to watch and not hurt people's ears! I know what you mean about being different on speakers and headphones too. The new setup fortunately doesn't seem to have that problem, and I try to keep improving over time :)

    Loved the video. I was searching for a video about gelatin because I saw a video of a 87 year old woman who had zero arthritis and who moved as if she was a teenager. She said that she takes a tablespoon of gelatin in her tea every night and that she’s done that since her mid twenties. She still works her own farm, completely pain free. But I didn’t know what she meant by gelatin since the only gelatin that I’ve heard of is jello gelatin. Your video has been very helpful in closing the gap. Thanks.

      I have mild arthritis in my hips. Every night, all night, my hips and thigh bones would hurt so much that I’d have terrible sleeps! I bought a container of “Great Lakes” grass fed, non-gmo…. Gelatin online. I buy 100% blueberry juice and 100% pomegranate juice with no sugar added. Dissolve 1 tablespoon of gelatin in cold blueberry juice (1/2 cup) in a desert bowl. Then put another 1/2 cup of blueberry juice in a small saucepan plus 1 cup pomegranate juice…. Warm the juice in the saucepan on medium heat just till it gets hot, not boiling, then add hot juice to your desert bowl that has the juice & gelatin mix. Whisk together and put in the fridge. This equals 2 cups of jello. I eat one cup worth every day. In one or two days all my pain was gone! It sure works for me! I hope you try this.

    Thank you for all the info. How much gelatin should a person take and how often also bone broth and can you take them together? Thank you

    • @HackYourHealth
      @HackYourHealth  5 років тому +8

      You can definitely take them together!
      For gelatin, the recommended amount is 2 tbsp a day (from the package), one in the morning and one in the evening.
      How much bone broth depends on how you are using it. If you are starting a healing diet or in poor health and not eating much other foods, you may end up drinking it many times a day, and there is no limit.
      For joint health, digestive maintenance, skin, hair growth etc. generally 2-4 cups a day is suggested. Of course, even incorporating it into recipes is beneficial.
      I've been adding 1 tbsp of the powder to my coffee in the morning, and heating up 1 mason jar (probably 2 cups) of bone broth in the evening and that's a pretty manageable routine :)

    • @carmenraigoza783
      @carmenraigoza783 5 років тому +2

      @@HackYourHealth what if I desolve the gelatin (2tbsp one cup cold water, one cup hot) how much a day? Thanks

    • @HackYourHealth
      @HackYourHealth  5 років тому +2

      @@carmenraigoza783 In that case, taking 2 tbsp a day, you would only need to take it once!

    • @HackYourHealth
      @HackYourHealth  5 років тому +5

      However, I would also suggest starting with 1tbsp/day of the gelatin powder if you are going to take it all at the same time, and then increasing after a week or so, to let your body adjust to it.
      Not medical advise, just based on personal experience, starting with a smaller "dose" had a better result.

      Can the gelatin be taken fasting, before eating any food in the morning?

  • @1bobvideo
    @1bobvideo 4 роки тому +6

    I made a batch of bone broth once. I have mostly lower back and knee pain. But I also have had gout attacks in my toe and a few times in my knee. So my plan was to start making bone broth. Long story short, the broth wasn't that hard to make, but a lot of cooking time is needed to get the gelatin from it. Mine turned out very well and gelled very well. I used 15 chicken legs. First, smelling chicken cooking for a couple days was not really good. Eating 15 legs worth of chicken per each batch of broth made...well, just not realistic. So my next thought is to buy some gelatin like the one you mention. I'm sure home made bone broth is best, but do you think the gelatin will also work well on its own?

    • @HackYourHealth
      @HackYourHealth  4 роки тому +3

      That's great that it turned out so well!
      I totally understand though, that the time involved can be a challenge.
      According to all the evidence/studies/personal accounts I found yes, it is also helpful for joints etc!
      I think that bone broth of course is more varied in the nutrients since it is not refined etc. But gelatin itself is very good for the joints and I think if it's possible to use it consistently because of the ease of use then it makes a great alternative:)

      Hi Marcus, according to the internet, 1-2 tsp/day is a good amount to supplement with, though it's better to start with less and gradually increase. I generally mix a spoonful into my morning coffee whenever I remember. There is no upper limit so far as I am aware but as with anything moderation is wise, and if you can eat gelatin rich foods like broth, tendon, etc, then it is preferable to a supplement in my opinion :)
