Such a PHENOMENAL cover. Wow. Michael's voice is perfect. So much talent in this band. They did a really nice job of sharing vocal responsibilities. Michael was definitely the right choice for this song
To their credit, when the Bangles met Alex Chilton in 1986 and found out that he had not received any royalties for this song, they personally wrote him a check for $16,000 and then made sure that he received all royalties due him. It speaks well of their character.
@@joyk2327 You guys have ruined me on this woman....I can't get enough of her...I totally cheated myself, back in the day. I'm tryin' to figure out how I can blame you, somehow.....but I can't.
Micki!! Listen to that voice and bass!! The Goddess at stage. Her grace and beauty makes Micki fabulous! This song is one of Bangles best. Bangles- one of the best liveband in the world when Micki played bass.
i love the little poke on Susannah's shoulder at the end.. great mood between them, and Michael's experienced bass playing and smooth stage presence is pure gold. 49 yo, listening to this record since 86, classic ! and i'm into noise music !! but those ladies nailed something, a..vibe that connects - it's rare
This song is one of the best bangles ever did and it should be an single ...Michael Steele has the bands best voice..so sensitive and hurtfull but sexy her song "somethin to belive in" for the bands third album in 89 is one of the best songs radio ever played....many critics says Steeles song always was the best and that she is the best member sad that she left the band in 05 (horrible year) but she is on myspace ofthen
Wow - she is so classy. Susannah was the cutie pie party girl. Vicky was the wild rock girl. Debbie was the sweetie pie. Michael was the girl that you wanted to marry.
I loved the Bangles and this song was one of my favorites. Amazing to think she was the only truly seasoned member of the band, having worked with the Runaways (Joan Jet, Lita Ford - most have heard of) and she actually sought them out (she knows her awesome). Magic.
I was working in the USA in 1989 and I saw them play live at the Mid Hudson Civic Centre, Poughkeepsie NY - one of the best live gigs I've ever seen, they were on top form and the crowd went absolutely nuts. A very happy memory :).
To have kissed Micki's sweet, pretty face would most probably have felt justl ike Heaven,I imagine.Dear God,please kindly bless, and take care of this dear girl,Micki, wherever she is.She's a really special girl, and human being.
Michael was the prettiest of the Bangles.Where ever sge is now,may GOD kindly bless this dear girl, her beloved pets, and kindly keep them both well&safe. All my love, and best wishes for dear Micki. Her parents in Heaven must be very proud of this dear girl.
She is still alive. She was probably the most talented one of the band. She really does have that late 1960s psychedelic aura just like Ann Wilson of Heart does.
You probably are right,my dear friend. She was the prettiest, and most talented of the Bangles.May God indeed kindly bless this dear girl, her beloved pets, and kindly keep them both well.Danke schoen, mein lieber Freund David, and God bless you,and Happy Memorial Day!
i feel like micheal steele has so much talent and i wish she was featured more than she was in the bangles..shes got a lovely voice...ive been playing bass since 85 and i obviously am still doing it...she is my fav girl bass player..i also liked kathy valentine's little bass line in the go gos head over heels..but i dont compare the 2 groups..bangles were more jingle jangle rickenbackers and paisley..where as go gos was more california rock and roll with a spalsh of punk lol.THANK you 4 the vid!
And this beautiful, (loved her sinve I was 14,..I am 38 now, and a musician myself) NEVER needs to look at her hands, as she walks this Bass, in so many gorgeous scales. SHE was the talent, Vicki the drive and the R&R baby,..Debbi,,.good solid drummer,..Susanna,..good voice in the mix of Harmony,..but um, what else??????
Suzane Thomas excelente me encantan sus canciones y tiene una excelente voz. Cuando yo era adolescente me teñía el pelo de rojo ja jaa!!! Sigo escuchando su música. 🌟
Lets thank pretzelFarmer for putting 16 rare Bangles clips here! I hit the favorite button 10 seconds after it started! These chicks are all excellent ! Why micks voice wasn't used more in other songs is a mystery ! Thanks Pittsburgh Pa.
Especially before it was hip to drop the name. Notice how the audience doesn't react at all to hearing "Alex Chilton." Guaranteed almost nobody there ever heard of him or Bulig Star in 1986
Vocal and bassplaing by Steele - and in total; a perfect song... The Susanna's rhytm playing is really nice; her own beat on that strokes.....I suppose it - too - tells a lot of her character? ed
September Gurls was almost a totally Micki single... You can hardly hear the rest of them. Not that I have anything against it! :D Michael has the talent her songs were all amazing.
I am 59 and I finally discovered the tremendously wonderful group Big Star; I checked the CDof their 1st 2 L.P.s from the library. 5 stars!! for both LP's I couldn't believe how great Sept.Gurls was, I played it 10 times in a row. The suggestion box sent me hear and now I find that the Bangles were for real. Beautiful cover of S. Gurls, and all of the other songs I found from this concert were awesome. Beautiful musicianship. And U ladies too! To discover BigStar and Bangles in the same week!!
Little History on Michael.. Original member of the Band the Runaways. Was the second vocalist along with Joan Jett. She left the band before they released there debut album. She was replaced by of course Cherrie Currie vocals and Jackie Foxx on Bass.
michael plays and sings wonderfull here, (as always). I think, with the nudge at the end she told Susanna :: "you did well. I am satisfied with your performance" 😊 :-)
Ulli Schuster she always gave Sue that nudge at the end of this song for some reason. I've seen other footage from concerts where she did this as well. Must have been a little secret thing to them.
Michelle, return please !!! At least one more time. I rediscovered The Bangles again (once again) and I'm crazy with their music. But, this video is my favorite. This version is awesome. Her voice is ... perfect.
Perfect voice, perfect hair, perfect face, perfect eyes, perfect lips, perfect smile, perfect hands, perfect legs, perfect performance... Michael Steele is perfect...
Such a PHENOMENAL cover. Wow. Michael's voice is perfect. So much talent in this band. They did a really nice job of sharing vocal responsibilities. Michael was definitely the right choice for this song
Man, Bangles live are ALWAYS better than the studio recordings. This is what we call talent ❤
Michael has always been my favorite. The voice, the amazing bass, that eye-smile, those lips, she's the total package.
super duper hotness I agree
Got nothing to add.. You hit it. Yea.
I love her Eye Smile 😄
You Said it all
Same, she was like the George Harrison of the band, didn’t get the credit she deserved
Micki is the most graceful, upper glass and talented female bass player of all time. Love you Supper Star.
You could say that in this video she is a Big Star.....
The Bangles and Big Star - two eternally legendary bands. RIP Alex Chilton.
Michael is the best, love the others too,but dang she is just amazing!
In my opinion the best all female band ever.
Totally agree. Should’ve been inducted in the RRHOF before the Go Go’s.
With The Go go s

Jesus, look at Michael Steel just killing the vocal on that song. Always my favorite Bangle.
Wooo hooo!! Big Star!!!! Decemeber boys got it bad!!!
Also, Mike is such a phenomenal bass player. Her beautiful voice is just the icing on the cake.
Her voice is perfect on this...for this....wow.
What a gorgeous voice
Im a metalhead through and through, but I've loved this song, and Mickey, since day one.
Michael's voice on this is pure bliss.
Her voice to me is The Bangles.
Just three words : MICHAEL IS PERFECT.
Added or not, she has a lot of talent.
Her bass playing is hypnotic. Amazing skills . Beautiful and skilled.
Michael is so beautiful and what a voice , my favorite Bangle ,
The hotest female group ever and they play all their own instruments and are great live.. This is my favourite Bangles song..
glutusmaximus check out "Between the Two," which is also a great song written by Micki Steele. My personal favorite Bangle song.

Michael has a great charm to her

Outstanding rendition of this song. Beautiful.

Definitly Michael and Debbie have the beautiful voice

This is even better than the album version
She has such a beautiful contralto
Amazing band
May God kindly bless, and protect this precious girl.
I saw them in Austin on this tour and this song stole the show.
September gurls is one of my favorite song.

Shes so gorgeous
Belated happy birthday Micki, we miss you!!!
what a great band. I wish I had seen them - beautiful playing and great harmonies...

i just fell in love with michael all over again!
First time hearing this in 2024. I liked it. This one could have been a single. If it was, it wasn't played in my market.
Just here to send good vibes and best wishes to Michael Steele.
Te amo michael ❤❤❤❤
Big Star was THE American power pop band. The Bangles (who know a thing or two about power pop) do a magnificent job with this song.

Fantastic cover, the right people to do it.

Solid cover!! Probably best ever of this song
Hauntingly beautiful...sweet sweet sadness
I first heard this song from the Bangles Summer 1986. They sing it the best. Michelle Steele with the huge hair very mid 1980s-ish.
It KILLS me that Vicki just refers to Michael as "one of a revolving door of Bassists" 10 YRS,..fuk,.Michael WAS the talent
Truer words were never spoken.
I know Susanna is a goddess but Michael Steele is beautiful too those lips eyes and voice would drive any man crazy
OMG I love Micky Steele

Micki Steele😍. Nothing more to say.
Terrific version of this Big Star classic.
This is power pop perfection. Minus that feedback, it's perfect.
Simply exquisite!

Good to be you, that week! Long ago, too, now, I guess....
Favorite part, actually, the little shoulder punch and interaction with Susanna at the end.
Wish the aspect ration was corrected though.
Same here...the shoulder nudge. For that moment, all was good...
I think, with this she told Susanna :: "you did well. I am satisfied with your performance" :-)
@@ullischuster1263 The most talented of the Bangles, Miki shows who''s Boss . The most beautiful of the lot.

I love this song!!
Greatest Band!
Michael Steele developed a wonderful and charismatic stage presence. The others would serve themselves well by taking a few lessons from her.

this is just a great song and well done by the bangles. ok so i'm a few decades late
No never to late ,Great song by a talented singer Miki Steele.
2:51 gives Susanna a nudge "well done".
Michael!
Absolute perfect rendission of this track great

Agreed.
4 chicks , who play their own instrument and that can sing in harmony.. kinda rare these days
Kinda?
She reminds me of Dana Carvey in Moving (1988) starring Richard Pryor.
