Story 1: The idiots telling OP not to press charges and trivializing the theft of $45,000 show how ignorant and entitled they are. Let them compensate OP for the money then, or give Sarah $45,000. It’s not just about the money, it’s about the fact Sarah is abusive and entitled. She takes advantage of OP and has even been called out on it multiple times. And it isn’t OP’s fault for “lending Sarah the card”, as Sarah KNEW or should have known that the card was for the vacation only.

You know what OP, you're blessed to have these friends. They really care for you.
People like Sarah are often times why people are so stingy with money (and I mean this in a 'they never offer to help friends out because they're afraid of being taken advantage of. One time becomes two, two, becomes four, so on and so forth' way). I can't tell you how nice it would be to have a rich friend willing to just help me and get me things. I don't ask for much, a safe place to live, a comfy bed, my own room, food, necessities, and occasional luxuries like video games.
I could never imagine spending $45k in such a short amount of time. Over the course of a year? Maybe. In a month or two? Absolutely not.

@animetalk8132 I was referring to the root word empathize versus emphasize (I thought the "ing" was implied) although you're right I should have said empathizing versus emphasizing since as I was asking for clarification.

The wife in the second story is the A hole his family showed up out of the blue. If my wife did that to me I would be seriously pissed as I would be worried that she didn’t return not to mention there are family politics at play with the husband’s family
Husband is definitely the jerk. He knew that the situation was not okay for his family to come over and he still allowed them to. If he had a backbone, he would have at least explained the situation to them and said they could come over another time.
Not only that, he knew they were coming and purposefully decided not to tell his wife. This shows that he knew that it was not right for them to come over but he wanted her to be backed in a corner.
He wanted his family over in an inconvenient situation, there’s no problem with him dealing with them.
It would have been on thing if he was not in the know either. But he was colluding with them. So he is as guilty as they are.

I had to skip halfway through the first one, I don't really give a ish about some rich kids problem being used by a so-called friend. You're rich this is the problem that you're going to have in the first place and I can guarantee you none of your friends would be your friend if you didn't spend as much money on them. What the original poster of that story doesn't understand is that when some of the friend said you didn't have to spend so much on us and turned around and said I'm still going to that, it was them trying to seem like good friends to stroke their ego and to get rid of the bad taste in their mouth. Their lives are definitely changed for this and I have no idea if it's for the better. Rich kids and their problems, pathetic.
