Story 4: it’s kind of odd that we’re immediately blaming the girl for what’s going on, when in reality the guy probably only became her friend because he wanted to get with her. It’s not her responsibility to walk on eggshells because that guy doesn’t have self control and an understanding of what “platonic” means. And if you get the wrong idea and get all jealous because the girl you’re seeing has a guy friend, you might want to work on that issue.

Story 1: I would've just flat-out rejected that dumb stepmother from doing anything for that baby shower, much less being allowed to even attend. She was completely cold and didnt care about the OP at all until her actual son wasn't going to have kids by a certain time, and now she wants to totally dote on the OP? Screw that. I would've told the venue to barr her from the place so that she couldn't set anything up. Good thing that the OP's family/friends helped re-decorate and make it proper and i loved the "nice try" touch too. Gotta give points to Nina and Laura too. Glad that the OP is keeping his son away from the stepmother. She's a complete bag.
Story 2: Like i've said before; People go out in public just to be jerks.... and this guy is a super jerk here, not just to the OP and other servers and managers here, but apparently in his dentist practice. If i were the OP, or one of their co-workers, i totally would've put that guy on blast for his actions and comments. Don't want to serve that guy, and definitely dont want him to get any business.

ending a relationship just because your boyfriend may find it weird is downright disgusting. you have your own life and your own friends. it shouldn't matter if that friend has a crush on you or not as long as he respects the fact that you have a boyfriend and that you can't be together, and your boyfriend should respect the fact that you have other friends
That is a very subjective subject. If the new boyfriend becomes a life partner or spouse, ending the relationship with the best friend is neither weird nor disgusting if the best friend still harbors feelings. It would be a different story if it was a truly platonic friendship. Especially if the best friend had a girlfriend. Otherwise, ending the relationship is probably the most respectful thing that the OP could do for the boyfriend, the best friend, and the OP themselves.
@@deanfowlkes ngl I have no idea what that video is about now because I watched it 10 months ago but if it's something on the line of "my boyfriend doesn't want me to be friends with x because whatever" then I don't agree with you. If you feel uncomfortable with that friend now that you have a spouse then sure, but you don't ow every single bit of your life to your spouse. You may have other friends that your spouse may not like, and there's nothing wrong with that, not everyone gets along and just because your spouse doesn't like some person doesn't mean you should cut ties with them.
If it was about a friend that had a crush on the girl then it'd probably feel weird and I guess she'd cut ties with him because of how weird it is to her, but if it's a good friend of hers that had a crush and now doesn't, and the girl is still happy with the relationship, then her boyfriend should respect her relationships and friends.
Remember, your spose is not the only person in your life. They should be an extremely beloved person to you in my eyes but friends are very important too. I wouldn't be able to choose between my friends or my spouse

They should be the first, most important, and prioritized person in an individual’s life. It is perfectly ok to have friends besides your spouse. This is normal. Even if those friends and your spouse do not like each other. You can even have an ex as a friend. However, your spouse takes priority. In the case of a friend who currently has romantic feelings towards the Original Poster, it does not matter how the OP feels about the friend. Does the spouse feels comfortable is the relevant question.
It is a matter of love and respect. Do you have that for the most important person in your life? Would you expect that from the most important person in your life? If the answer to either question is no, then that person is not the most important person in your life. Don’t fool yourself. Because you are not fooling either of them for long. And, you are hurting both of them whether you choose to acknowledge it or not.

Last story: Since when are hugs a relationship only thing? Most people hug others that aren't just their s/o, my friends know I love to hug friends & family as a way I show that I care about them and trust them since I'm kinda bad with my words and struggle to vocalize what i'm thinking without feeling anxious and shy about it despite how loud & chaotic I can be around them, 100% platonic hugs, and the guy friend in our group knows this... despite knowing I used to have a crush on him in high school and getting rejected, we're all still friends
1st story: this is a classic case of "This is what happened, now here's what happened" type of story. It gives all the spoilers in the title.
Seriously even if the baby was born a girl, it still doesn’t give the step mother to change the decoration either.
This reminds me of my horrible aunt complained that my twin sister hates the color pink she hated it even back when she was a child. She tried to force my sister to like the color pink, on her birthday. My twin came in on her birthday wearing a green dress and wearing two green shoes, my entitled aunt sat in a corner sulking.
Story 1 - I'm reminded of a saying my grandmother had. "You might be slick but you can't slide on barbed wire". That fits the step-mother and her plans.
Last Story: the OP needs to understand that the bf is not her bf. He is a guy waiting for his shot. I do not remember if she said sho made it clear she wasn’t interested in anything future but if she didn’t she should and she will see what type of friend he is. Not taking anything away from the friend but they maybe be some context that we aren’t seeing that is given that guy hope. The OP needs to make it clear to the friend that there is not chance of moving beyond friends, so the friend can move on emotionally. I this case the OP can not have her cake and eat it too.

This isn't as uncommon as you think and here's why: my sister in law wanted to.throw my sister a baby shower she was preggo with her oldest son and when she told me she was.Going to surprise her well I couldn't stop laughing perplexed she couldn't understand what was so funny and I told her point blank "yeah good luck with that and trust me you'll need it". Well my sister caught wind of it and started demanding and making everyone ignore my sister in laws decorating ideas because she didn't like how the room was decorated. My sister in law sent me a text saying "I'm ready to kill your sister EVERYTHING has to be done her way or the highway" and I couldn't stop laughing and I told her "yeah see here's the thing that would surprise you when it came to my 3 kids and there bdays I had no say about anything ranging from decorating to the food would be served to the seating arrangements me and her have had several rows about this. She considers my kids half hers"
Story 4: Any guy who would be threatened or jealous over a greeting hug is not as confident and secure as he thinks he is. We need to stop seeing physical touch as something inherently sexual because it's not.
While I agree that she probably would benefit from a slightly wider friend circle, I think the best way for her to handle this is just to be upfront and honest with her new boyfriend. If her new boyfriend has an issue with the situation, they can talk it over and decide if they are right for each other. Her new boyfriend might surprise her and be totally chill with the situation. She sounds like she's got some anxiety going on and maybe some trauma from past relationships coloring her views on the current situation.
Story #4: this guy friend of yours needs to man up and walk away a good bit. I have been in his situation. I had to step away from one of my best friends to refocus and figure out if the only reason we where friends was because if physical attraction. I learned more why I was her friend in that time away and have been able to be happy for her marriage. But this is also on the poster. Like our wonderful host said get more friends, you can do this!

I definitely feel like the stepmother in the first story would have done the same thing as a woman who was the mother of either the husband or wife in another video I saw would have done if she was told the gender of the baby. She would basically ruin the announcement by telling everyone on her side of the family the gender but wouldn’t announce it to the family of the other expecting parent.

If a men says that, his self esteem is too low. What is he going to do when OP has male colleagues? Or a male boss? Not being able to see the GF with another men without the thought "Maybe she is cheating with him" is a huge red flag in my opinion. Often, men have those relationships as well. Just being honest to both is all OP can do (without pushing away someone). The one who cant live with that need to see themself out.

I admit that the last story sounds like my situation with my girl best friend. We meet when my bff at the time introduced me to her, his girlfriend at the time, they then broke up an I told her I liked her but she didn’t feel the same but I just kept pushing and I feel like our friendship is on the line.
