My Dear, this is for sure a world champ pavillon of stability. My wife's usual comment : again you built a bunker. Once you build this on a place, you must never replace ist.
The best video I've seen of the actual building, great time lapse, editing, slow downs and 3D animations make this a standout video. Well done, hats off to your craftsmanship.
I have no intention of building this - I am a 40+ woodworker and cabinetmaker, and I simply enjoy watching other's talents for entertainment. What a beautiful design, cleanly and professionally built. An inspiration to anyone. I so enjoy your videos and the clarity with which you present your work. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this .... another great night of entertainment. Thank you for sharing your wonderful gifts and skills and intelligence!!! Trades people should run for political public office - but we would never make it, and if we did we would not survive: we have too much integrity, honesty, practicality, efficiency, knowledge and experience - things politicians are simply not interested in.
Thank you very much for your kind words. You can't know how much I appreciate that. I really wasn't sure how my projects would be received and just a few weeks ago I was thinking that they had no audience. Then last week everything seems to have changed. I am blessed....truly blessed by the encouraging words I have received here. Cheers, Kent
I bought your plan and modified it to fit a 14' x 10'. There were some liberties I took to modify the structure to fit my needs. Turned out amazing. Would never have been this nice without your plan. Thank you.
Your presentation without ego is refreshing. The recutting the notches just a tad kept this a realistic build. I work on the coast. I'm pretty sure that I would have to add tie-downs. Might beef up the arches a lil. Nice job, fellas.
I'm planning on building a 4800 sq ft 2 1/2 story timber frame craftsman house soon, this looks like a good project to learn the skills on before I start on the house. Thanks!
Thank you! I didn't have a lot of opportunity for detailed or closeup camera shots due to time constraints. But I knew I had covered some of the principles in other videos on my channel.
Thanks for publishing this! I never got around to thanking you for it because your building technique helped me build our simple pavilion. I used your joining method to create a 14x16 structure and it is ROCK SOLID. All because you shared! Thank you again! Bill in NM
Bill C, I”m planning to do something similar and am curious if you stuck with the 6x6 beams for the longer spans, or if you used something taller (and if so, by how much).
Michael S I used 8x8 for all beams because it looks better for what I built. Most timber yards can help you size beams for whatever your span is. Just give them a call.
The sketchup was very nice and the animations made it excellent. Gazebo looks really nice. Only thing that looks a bit odd to me are the why the concrete footings are so tall.
love the work.only thing ill say is cutting both beams for the runner beams looks better because they become flush and hides saw marks when you install your braces. my thoughts. still love the work.
really impress, i did install a pre frabricated standard gazebo. because i was afraid to mess it up. but with all this info you encourage us to do it by ourselves and built a custom design one. thanks a lot
This is definitely the “next level”. I purchased your pergola drawing. We modified it a bit and built it. Neighbors thought we are engineers. Lol. It looked fantastic!!
I'm starting to build your pavilion here in Virginia Beach. Would offer that non standard dimensional lumber has been impossible to source locally. I don't have lumber mills handy to create the 3x10 stock needed for the braces. I'd offer that if you could describe a work around using standard lumber sizes it would make our jobs out here much easier. As it turns out I will be laminating 1x4 boards in a bent fashion to match your arc for both the large and small braces. A whole lot more work to finish the job, but I feel the curved braces make the look of the build. Thanks for a really beautiful structure. I cannot wait to get it finished.
I love this design.... im going to do the same..but with less thicker timber and see if I can get a similar finished looked....... mine may not be the same as this...but am ganna give it a go for sure 😊...thank you for the vedeo
Great build ! You could have pre-built that roof structure on top of the piers first to save some ladder work, disassembled then stained before putting it back together on top of the post.
Hi brother its really good idea I liked actually I'm also carpenter but I changed my job now when I came back to my country I will try to make like this 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
We Loved the design and the instructional video.. very inspiring, we want to build one at are vacation home in the adirondacs. Will use this video as guide. Thanks for your attention to detail!
Thanks! The valley rafters were a challenge. It was a matter of setting them in place, making some marks where they touched the beam(s), taking a cut, then test fitting again.
Wow pavilion looks great my only concern is no rebar went into those concrete support beams also the weight is not distributed equally the two beams that support valley will give out sooner
How do those four posts hold up all that roof weight and how much snow load could it handle? Great video. I love that you mute the machine noise for delicate ears! I found it allvery interesting and educational. I'll hire out because I really can't stand the noise of power tools and this video teaches me good questions to ask about the details. Thanks!
This is really awesome. Can it be done bigger? I’m thinking of a 12x36 with 12 foot height clearing. I want to use it for summertime entertaining and to park a camper underneath in the snowy winter.
Very nice work, one thing I will point out and is a pet peeve of mine is you do not pour cement, cement is a powder that when water and aggregates are added is called concrete. You wouldn’t call a cake ,flour because that’s the main ingredient .As I stated ,nice job and look forward to more videos
I love your work and videos. Subscribed. I have a patio/gazebo in the planning stages. I'll be building the gazebo myself and having a contractor do the concrete. This is a very interesting design. Thanks!
Maybe the best who we did it video I’ve seen. As a carpenter I know the long hours and fine detail this really takes. Bravo. What I’d like to know is what was the starting sizes of the stock to cut your angle braces. Hard to tell in the video. Second would be approximately material costs for this lumber and roofing. I did also love the black paint detail. So was your build time about 5 days? But overall impression on this was excellent. There is nothing better that this type of construction. Hope you do more videos like this one. Thank you.
Thanks Steve! The rough stock size for the small braces are 8.5" x 24" and the large are 7.5" x 32". Both were 3" thick stock. The frame build was a bit more than 5 days. I built this for a friend who bought the materials based on my design so I don't have a total cost. There's a cut list on the plans that you can give to your suppliers for estimates.
Great video. I'm building a pool cabana very similar to this. You answered my questions about the roof joinery. Gonna basically copy the video for the roof valley rafters. Thanks. I'll be able to do a better, more finished look
Nicely done, I have built trellises and structures like this for many years and did learn something from this. I think most of my customers would prefer rough sawn cedar.
Sketchup seems to be a really nifty application that maybe any of us can learn. Love this video and TimberFrame... so inspiring. Can't wait to get started, and Thanks!
Wow, one of the best how to videos I've seen on UA-cam. You can tell you take a lot of pride in your work with the amount of details throughout the process. Well done, you earned a follower for sure!
Just to let you know: I built this Pavilion and its came out PERFECT. Small modification/adjustment will be required but GREAT PLAN. I do not know how to post picture here but wanted to post picture.
Great look. Wondering if all the double checking on plumb was necessary with so much care already given to the forms. Seems like if you cut the joist beams true and square then you could pull the support beams into the joints and know they are plumb.
Thanks! It probably wasn't necessary...however, I can't recall if there was an issue somewhere and/or a discussion going on about it. We also had some issues with the milling and tolerances were a bit too loose on a few pieces.
Here's an idea I used to build a complicated porch roof by my self . Since I have bad knees I decided to build my roof in the driveway . I mocked up the beams and built it on the ground saving me from having to climb up and down a full set of steps over and over . If your going to do this . Use small short posts and build the roof on the ground saving you from climbing up and down a hundred times . You can simple walk up to the roof check your fits . Adjust the cuts comfortably . After its all prebuilt . You number and disassemble it . Get some help to climb on easy time to re-erect it . I did my roof in one day by my self . The funny thing was all my freinds ask how I was going to get it up there . I lied and said I had a crane coming to lift it up . It took me about 1/2- to 1 hour to rebuilt it permanently . After being a carpenter for 40 I feel dumb I never used this trick all those year but climbed up and down so many times . Maybe my knees would not have gone bad had I used this tecnic .
Great Video. I really enjoyed how detailed you were in explaining the build. I am going to be building my own pavilion and I learned a lot from this video. Thanks for taking time out to do this!
My Dear, this is for sure a world champ pavillon of stability. My wife's usual comment : again you built a bunker. Once you build this on a place, you must never replace ist.

Great what you said, Rudolf. Thank you. Regards from Ukraine.
Great work! Love seeing your videos. Admirer from India.
Is 40+ too old? Im 46 and would do this. If it kills me I guess its my time.
By far one of the best builds I’ve seen on you tube, if not the besy
Wow! As a homeowner, I could only dream of having something that nice in my backyard. Very professionally done and a pleasure to watch.
Thanks for watching!
That’s what I called engineering design constructions not just build 👍
I bought your plan and modified it to fit a 14' x 10'. There were some liberties I took to modify the structure to fit my needs. Turned out amazing. Would never have been this nice without your plan. Thank you.
I'm so glad to hear that! You made my day! Cheers, Kent
Can I ask about how much you spent in building supplies?
Until I see a video that explains step by step and how it should be👍👍👍👍👍
Your presentation without ego is refreshing. The recutting the notches just a tad kept this a realistic build.
I work on the coast. I'm pretty sure that I would have to add tie-downs.
Might beef up the arches a lil.
Nice job, fellas.
Thanks for sharing! Cheers, Kent
Another excellent job... Very informative. It's good to see neighbors helping neighbors.
Thanks 👍
His Revit and building and construction skills are remarkable! One of the best I've seen!
I'm planning on building a 4800 sq ft 2 1/2 story timber frame craftsman house soon, this looks like a good project to learn the skills on before I start on the house. Thanks!
that's a really nicely colored stain. Also that black painted plywood was a fantastic idea
Thanks! The stain seemed too orange at the beginning but it seems to have faded to a nicer shade.
The sketchup designs showed along with the video was excellent. What a great build!
thaitichi agreed they really help the understanding of what stuff is if you aren’t a carpenter like me
By 2 minutes in, its already one of the best how to videos I have ever seen. Great video, thank you so very much!
Thank you! I didn't have a lot of opportunity for detailed or closeup camera shots due to time constraints. But I knew I had covered some of the principles in other videos on my channel.
Thats exactly what i wanted to say when I saw the first minutes👍 thanks a lot😊👍
I totally agree
What a great job Kent. I cannot believe that anyone would give you a thumbs down,
Thanks for publishing this! I never got around to thanking you for it because your building technique helped me build our simple pavilion. I used your joining method to create a 14x16 structure and it is ROCK SOLID. All because you shared! Thank you again! Bill in NM

Excellence Personified
Now my wife wants me to build this great!
Sorry... I guess?? ;o)
love the work.only thing ill say is cutting both beams for the runner beams looks better because they become flush and hides saw marks when you install your braces. my thoughts. still love the work.
really impress, i did install a pre frabricated standard gazebo. because i was afraid to mess it up. but with all this info you encourage us to do it by ourselves and built a custom design one. thanks a lot
best display video ever
This is definitely the “next level”. I purchased your pergola drawing. We modified it a bit and built it. Neighbors thought we are engineers. Lol. It looked fantastic!!
How are the formed concrete piers put in the ground? Please provide detail, awesome video, so explanatory and no filler
The forms sit above grade. The hole is dig into the ground below that.
@@MANaboutTOOLS thanks, watched your other video and got the clue. Looks great, thanks for your channel!
WOW you made it look easy to build.
I love your animation. Fantastic! Those notches in the beams would be very labour intensive, but wow they would make the structure solid.
Thanks. The notches were not too bad to do. Fitting the rafters was the fiddly part.
I'm starting to build your pavilion here in Virginia Beach. Would offer that non standard dimensional lumber has been impossible to source locally. Thanks! Laminating is a good solution for sure. And I understand that sourcing timber can be a challenge in some areas.

The graphic design in the beginning is so well done. Whoever put that together has used well the training or vocation he or she received. Kudos
Excellent how to video. Maybe a little more detail on the cuts made for the valley rafters. Thank you so much for posting. I learned a lot.
Thanks! The valley rafters were a challenge. It was a matter of setting them in place, making some marks where they touched the beam(s), taking a cut, then test fitting again.
i don't think i have seen a better explained video thanks!
Wow. Now that’s how to do a how to video!!! 🎉
Wow pavilion looks great my only concern is no rebar went into those concrete support beams also the weight is not distributed equally the two beams that support valley will give out sooner

Very nice Gazebo
This is really awesome.
Can it be done bigger? I’m thinking of a 12x36 with 12 foot height clearing. I want to use it for summertime entertaining and to park a camper underneath in the snowy winter.
the best teacher timber video I've seen in my life
Thanks! It's not true timber framing but, I tried to build it in that style. My thinking was that it might have a broader appeal.
Very nice work, one thing I will point out and is a pet peeve of mine is you do not pour cement, cement is a powder that when water and aggregates are added is called concrete. You wouldn’t call a cake ,flour because that’s the main ingredient .As I stated ,nice job and look forward to more videos
Thanks! I understand.
woooooooow Thank You For This Gift
I love your work and videos. Subscribed. I have a patio/gazebo in the planning stages. I'll be building the gazebo myself and having a contractor do the concrete. This is a very interesting design.
Thanks!
Thanks! Best of luck on your project!
what should i study in order to learn this art ? carpentry ? Sketch (software) ? Design ? Architecture ? Thanks, your work is incredible !
Great job. Nice narrative and enjoyed the video.
Much appreciated!
Good job, next level without srews.
Just have to say... you rock! You make this look so easy! Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much for your support!! I appreciate the feedback!
nice work!!!!!!!
this is the best presented build video that I have ever seen. Truly talented.
Prefect job
Very well designed, and fantastic drawings.
Thank you so much 😀
Супер! Классная беседка! Очень красиво!

Absolutely stunning design. Love it.
Thanks so much 😊
Never seen someone use a mitre saw like that before. Great work!
Thanks!
great video, great explanation,
Job well done
beautiful job!!! I have done something similar in Argentina, successes
that birthmouth on ridge rafter is amazing.
Outstanding work!
Thank you! Cheers!
That's a beauty
Thanks!
Great video. I'm building a pool cabana very similar to this. You answered my questions about the roof joinery. Gonna basically copy the video for the roof valley rafters. Thanks. I'll be able to do a better, more finished look

Beautiful but more importantly inspiring others to do the same, thank you !

I might not be able to build the same but this great video gives me an idea how to build in future. You makes it seem easy to build one.

The best video I've seen of a building layout. Well done with the piece by piece construction
You have the best construction videos on UA-cam. Thanks for asking these videos!
Thank you so much!!
Very Nice!
excellent video learnt a lot from this will be attempting this build in the near future.
Just to let you know: I built this Pavilion and its came out PERFECT. Small modification/adjustment will be required but GREAT PLAN. I do not know how to post picture here but wanted to post picture.

Thank you very much!
WOW u are good at sketch-up! Nice work brother-man!
Thank you very much! I appreciate your comment!
Great job
Only in top of colum I don't like it using the screw
Amazing work. Well planned and executed.
Glad you enjoyed it
I would love to have one just like it
most elaborate video ever!wow
Best video.
Great video Thanks But this wanted project at my Texas home will need to wait a bit until these rising lumber prices come down..
Thanks Dan! Prices are high there too huh? Here's hoping they come back down to reasonable levels soon.
Great illustrations!!!!
beautiful!
Thank you!
Marvelous!!!
Awsome looking! Really nice work! And thanks a ton for sharing the plans aswell! 2 thumbs up for sure 🙂
Great work guys
Great Craftsmanship Gentlemen....
Thank you!
Looks better than the house.
Very nice work! Great craftsmanship and beautiful design!!
Great Video. I really enjoyed how detailed you were in explaining the build. I am going to be building my own pavilion and I learned a lot from this video. Thanks for taking time out to do this!
Thank you very much! I appreciate your comments and wish you the best on your build! Cheers, Kent
Beautiful works
Wow... !!! My best friend, Great Good... !!! I wish you every day of your development.
