I love that the original draft was such a tom cruise movie that there's enough cruise clips to effectively illustrate every story beat lol
Haha exactly
The fact that MODOK is the villain in Tom Cruise’s Iron Man movie is actually is actually dope.
Why r u saying is actually twice
Get good in grammar bro
@@abdullahsanihashim8754?
It’s probably a typo but boy is the Internet not merciless merciless.
Is actually is actually is actually grammatically valid
Paul Newman in the 90s as an older Tony Stark would have been brilliant.
@brianmax what sbut harsson Ford as old MSN tony stark
I’m not gonna lie, that confrontation between M.O.D.O.K. And Tony where the pieces of the suit start assembling through his body while saying that he “died” and that he is now Iron Man, does actually sound really badass.
This should be the soft reboot after Secret Wars
Yeah I know no bringing Iron Man back post Secret Wars or anytime soon
While I am glad that the actual Iron Man movie had Tony get injured in war and saved in a cave like in the comics, this script sounds better than what we actually got.
@@bowserbreaker2515 Hell no we got an amazing movie this script has nothing on it have the right balance of action and everything this one was lacking in way too many areas
@@bowserbreaker2515Yeah, disagree. The movie we got is better than this. However, it's not a bad idea.
I remember reading somewhere Nicolas Cage wanted to be Iron Man, but it was being made with Tom Cruise in mind
Nic Cage has been considered for several comic book adaptations. For Spider-Man, Constantine, Iron Man.

Thanks! It can be a challenge sometimes
@@Bulletsandblockbusters you do a very good job at it!!
Hearing David Hayter come up always jumpscares me since he also voices Snake from Metal Gear lol
The fact that we almost got an Iron Man movie written by Solid Snake is absolutely insane to think about
I would love to live in a world where we got this Cruise version in the 90's, and it did pretty well... but then later in the 2000's Iron Man is rebooted with RDJ and we still get the Iron Man we loved.
Iron Man '08 is a perfect film, but this actually sounds pretty good, especially compared to other '90s CBM treatments.
If Tom Cruise was Iron Man, Paramount Pictures would never have let Marvel Studios been purchased outright by Disney.
Honestly the Tom Cruise version sounds really cool but its so hard to picture anyone bur RDJ as iron man
Yep. David Maisel was the guy that had the idea for the MCU. Even though people like to credit Kevin Feige. And yeah, Tom Rothman. The guy that cut the budget on that first X-Men and gave them less time to make it. The guy responsible for the theatrical cut of Daredevil. The guy responsible for Galactus being a cloud. The reason Alien vs Predator was set on Earth and PG-13. The reason Firefly got canceled.
Tom Rothman's also the guy that insisted Deadpool have his mouth sewn shut, and then refused to make his standalone movie.
@@davidjames579 oh right. I forgot about that one.

It's sad The Rocketeer wasn't a hit. Such a great movie.
For me iron man came at the perfect time, the start of the early 2000s… the era of technology and big BIG money. It was a perfect time and perfect casting. Tom would’ve been fun tho 😅
Considering it was written in 1997, it most likely would've come out between 1999 and 2000 following Blade's footsteps. And I feel like people would've gone to see it regardless. And because Iron Man was kinda obscure at the time, I'm sure some casual viewers wouldn't even know the film they grew up with was based on a Marvel character and was just a futuristic Tom Cruise movie.
@@brandonspain12345yeh judt like nobdy knewy blade was msrvel chrectior
@@zacharyjochumsen9677 Precisely! Or even Men In Black. (Heck, I didn't even know it was based on a Marvel comic until 2019.)

7:47 TIL, Snake co-wrote X2 and Watchmen and wrote X-Men
Tom Cruise as Iron Man would have been interesting
Tom cruise will be biggest superstar in the universe if he did iron man with mission impossible series. He is still bigger but the world will bow after that

You know you said something extremely dumb when Avi Arad is the one that has to explain it to you.
Joaquin Phoenix, Ethan Hawke, Johnny Depp, Jared Leto, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tom Hardy, Colin Farrell, Oscar Isaac, Ewan McGregor, Keanu Reeves, Ryan Gosling, Daniel Radcliffe, Jim Parsons, Patrick Dempsey And Sam Worthington Were All Considered For The Role Of Doctor Strange Before Benedict Cumberbatch Was Cast
LOL Jim Parsons would have been something 😅
What's with all the capitalized words?
@@lukeswan7776something awful 😖
Dude, that so many candidates for just 1 role 😂
If the MCU Is rebooted I want to see a comic accurate Ironman: a really morally ambiguos persons, very smart but also a jerk. I think that no one can replicate RDJ performance so why try it? Instead Lets do literally the opposite: a jerk who Is a superhero and we love to hate him.
Agreed
RDJ was a jerk as Tony Stark… Did… Did you watch any of the movies!?
He just made Tony Stark lovable.
@ClassifiedRanTom He was a jerk in the first Ironman and that's about it. After that, he is just the "jerk-ish" male superhero a la Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man.
disney fans are gonna outrage with #notmyironman #bringRDJback and disney gonna freak out
It’s no surprise why they didn’t want Iron Man to initially fly because they know Tom Cruise HAS to get that running scene somewhere in the film. 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️
I can see Tom Cruise's Iron Man finally having roller skates for ground maneuver, lol
Tom Cruise could still play Iron Man in a Multiverse scene in the next Avengers movie
This is actually really interesting, similar story beats to Ironman 1 and 2 but just different enough to be its own thing. I could see this as a multiverse version of Ironman
To Bullets & Blockbusters... PLEASE DO What Could Have Been Ang Lee's Hulk sequel Hulk 2.
It’s on the list
I STILL desperately wish he was the superior iron man we saw in multiverse of madness it would have been perfect casting just like RDJ was for 616 iron man
Same here. I totally thought it was going to happen to.
@@Bulletsandblockbustersyeh imdhi. If that happens
@@zacharyjochumsen9677imdhi?
It still could. There's always the upcoming Secret Wars movie...
that tom cruise iron man movie sounded doooope!
I think Cruise would have done the same thing to _Iron Man_ that he did to _The Mummy_ and pushed for the kind of stunts and action sequences that he was used to which would have changed the movie fundamentally. And we all know what happened to the Dark Universe franchise.
This iron man movie sounds pretty great tbh
It sounds like they based a lot of the setup on his Heroes Reborn origin, where his heart was injured and he entered a "rescue suit" to save his life and then forced to use it in battle. The main difference in Heroes Reborn was that he was injured by, and then had to fight the Hulk during Banner's first transformation.
I personally would love to George Clooney as iron man. He is perfect doing the billionaire playboy persona and hes naturally charming. It would be funny if either Brad Pitt or Matt Damon would be cast as a villain maybe justin hammer.
Paul Newman would have been a great Silver Age Iron Man. Maybe Tom Cruise could have a cameo in a multiverse movie.
I love the editing and how it visualises the movie. This could’ve been cool but I’m glad about how Iron Man’s history has gone.
Oh my God can you imagine what Nicolas Cage as Iron Man would be like im excited to see that man just a crazy drunk iron man
I like the RDJ version. It's more grounded. That aside, this video has some of the best editing I've seen on your channel. It was like watching an alt version of the film!
Wow, thanks!
The way you edit your videos I swear it’s like I’m watching the actual movie that was never made!!👍🏽
Thank you!
This actually sounds amazing. You could add it to the list of amazing Marvel films before the MCU. I think Blade, Sam Raimi's Spider-Mans, and Ang Lee's Hulk are still some of the best superhero films ever made.
Ang Lee's disastrous Hulk? Seriously??
@detroitdiezel7856 omg dude. The only thing wrong with that movie was the effects. Storywise and characterwise, it is miles above
@@wuntapwunflap2153😂😂
Ang Lee's Hulk is underrated I love that movie
Blade is THE best comic book film ever made, definitely top 5.
Kevin Feige was the only one at the time capable to save this movie from AVI ARAD
It sounds like Avi Arad saved this one 😅
Not in love with this script or the one where he fights his dad. Im glad we got the one we got. It feels truer to the nature of the character. I know ironman didn't get that quick witted jokey energy till RDJ, but the character has always been the rich guy you wanna cheer for. I do wonder what could have been, but i don't think they could have found a better Iron man than RDJ. He looks the part, he plays the part better then i think cruise ever could (I love cruise but he's kinda the same guy in most of his movies) I mean there's a part of me that wants the alternate universe version where he starred as ironman, but im happy with what we got.
Tom Cruise running from the AIM headquarters....😁 I can picture it
Haha
Ethan Hunt as Iron Man, that's awesome!
Seeing Tom Cruise as Ironman would have been interesting especially if Edward Norton stayed on to continue as Bruce Banner and those two would have had good chemistry. But I’m glad RDJ got his comeback with this character.
Tom Cruise is just way too good of an actor to be in a superhero franchise and he probably would have wanted to change so many things with the characters, story, and script like he did with the Mummy. So it’s probably for the best we didn’t have him as Ironman.
And you know this how?
@@detroitdiezel7856 if you watch some of his earlier videos talking about the Dark universe and why it failed and what we were going to get he explains It. Tom Cruise is one of the most high paid actors in Hollywood and because of it he has a say in how he wants things to go with movies he is in. You can tell because if you watch the Mummy 2017 it was more action packed and less horror.
You can imagine if he played Ironman he would have wanted to do the same thing with taking liberties to change certain aspects about the character.
It kinda makes me wonder how they would've adapted MODOK in the 90s. CG still wasn't there yet, and would most likely come off as complicated to pull off his accurate comic design as animatronics. And considering a lot of CMB changed a lot of things from their source material, I feel like they would've completely redesigned him with a very different design in mind.
UPDATE: I had to find the 1997 script just to skim through how he was described. And I found it...
"He turns, stiffly. The voice sounds like a man speaking through a hole in his throat. Grotesque:"
-- "CLOSE-UP of the FACE FROM THE CORRIDOR. It is rather an ugly face, to be sure; but a relatively normal one, with a pair of eyes, a nose, and a mouth. But then the CAMERA PULLS BACK to reveal that this "normal face" is ENORMOUS:
--- MODOK floats above the floor in an ARMORED HOVERING CHAIR designed to support his gigantic head. The sides of the chair rise up encasing his face. His SHRIVELED LEGS hang uselessly above the floor. Only one of his arms seems to be of use CONTROLLING A JOYSTICK that operates the chair. His head must be six-feet from top to bottom and at least four-feet-wide from ear to ear. An ENORMOUS EXPANSE OF HAIR is plastered to his head, looking unwashed, framing a face surrounded by FLESHY-FOLDS OF SICKLY-COLORED SKIN.
-- His proportions are similar to a baby's--with his large head and tiny body--but the size of MODOK takes that suggestion and grotesquely warps it to terrifying effect."
5:25 that sound very clishe but damnn so awesome at the same time. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I can imagine RDJ saying that during Ironman 2 in the senate scene:
Hydra senator: You are a Stark you created weapons, stop using that armor as super heroe toy.
Tony: Tony Stark died in that day in Afganistan selling weapons, now I am Ironman
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
It’s probably gonna come full circle because he should be Iron Man in one of these marvel Multiverse movies!

I remember hearing Tom as Iron Man. Too bad Disney has Marvel now. The early years were great.
I need more of these videos man
About the only thing I think was done better in this version was the fact that Iron Man incidentally stopped a common robber. That would have been a great addition to the movie we got to help cement WHY the public thought he was a hero.
Apart from that, while this was a pretty good script, I just think the final version did it better.
7:47 OMG SOLID SNAKE!!!! I met him in April. That is so cool. I wish this came out earlier. I could’ve asked him that.
Ahhh, Tom Rothman, the man who "didn't get" Deadpool.
How about an episode on the 1997 Hulk movie. There is some great test footage out there for it.

This is my favorite episode, great job, tbh that sounded like a banger of a movie, but I can't imagine the special effects being good enough to pull it off, hell Modok couldn't even be done now, as we saw in Quantumania.
Agreed. Maybe a little ahead of its time, which is probably why they didn’t write many action scenes in the film
@@Bulletsandblockbusters 100%
The CGI in Ant Man 3 was deliberately janky. For 'comedic' effect.
I heard the amazon prime series The Boys was going to be R rated movie directed by Adam McKay
If you like you can make a video about that🙌
Iron Man versus MODOK would have been interesting. Maybe one day we could see Tom Cruise as Iron Man in Secret Wars. Him interacting with a RDJ Iron Man variant would be cool.
I think Tom Cruise could have pulled off a pretty decent Tony Stark, but not in the same way (or as good) RDJ did it. I also liked the idea of A.I.M. and M.O.D.O.K. as the villains. It might have a been a pretty cool movie. But you can't argue with the awesomeness that was the Marvel produced Iron Man film. It launched the "Infinity War Saga" which is arguably one of the greatest achievements in movie making history.
"What went wrong?"
They didn't go with Nick Cage.
Paul Newman as Tony Stark sounds awesome!
Mr Junior did a pretty good job in the end though, turning a C list minor Marvel character into the main guy, not sure Tom Cruise could have had the same impact!
Would’ve been cool to see Clint Eastwood as Iron Man and of course Tom Cruise.
Amazing to see David Hayter featured in this video.

There’s still room for Tom Cruise Iron Man, he could come from the Dr. Strange Illuminati universe as Superior Iron Man, and he wants revenge.
That Tom Cruise script ain't half bad. Just needed some adjustments to be more comic book accurate.
I can't believe they kicked around the idea of having Iron Man not fly what's he going to do show up in a pickup truck to fight crime lol 😂
That thinking by New Line Head Bob Shaye reminded me so much of producer Jon Peters saying Superman can't fly.

Tom Cruise would have added a level of physical intensity to Iron man which would have been fantastic to watch, but I dont think he could pull off the playboy persona tbh

Sounds like we would’ve gotten a better AIM and MODOK than what we have already
I want a new Iron Man movie that takes place in 1980s and 1990s like a combination of robocop, terminator, the rocketeer and minority report id love that
Love that idea
With the late 90s cgi technology, it wouldve been a BIG gamble to make a successful iron man film with Tom's salary + top CGI budget. It was right to release it in 2008, especially when the iPhone was ushering a new age of tech aesthetics and everyone wanted a JARVIS-like app in their iPhone 3G (I was one of them too)
Considering how Madok was a foe in the Iron Man animated series it would have been interesting to see him fight
I knew Cruise has long been considered for the role, but i didn't know there was a full script with him in mind.
The story itself sounds interesting, but since it was the '90s, i'm not convinced the effects would've been up to snuff.
Not to mention if he was asking so much for the first film, imagine how much more he would've asked for the sequels!
ooh the fight between father and son sounded so cool
Tom Cruise should play Joaquin Phoenix in the Terrance Howard biopic
Excellent content! And hey, thanks for not relying on Ai for the narration.
Thanks!
David Mazel's the unsung hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Its bizarre that modern cinema can be traced to one person, but here it's true.
Marvel has made all their movies with actors who weren't bigger than the characters when the movies were made. The MCU and the characters were the stars even if actors like Downey, Evans, Hemsworth, and Bosman made them their own. Cruise would've overshadowed Iron Man. That works for Mission: Impossible because it's stand alone but not the MCU.
"Snake, your next mission is to find these 2 script writers."
"Script writers?"
"Yes, you need to discuss the script for the movie Iron Man we're making."
"Iron Man?"
