Great footage Bill. :) The Don Holland mini was later sold to my uncle Glen Amos ( who currently owns the Brock XU-1 Bathurst 1972 winner 28c), who raced it for awhile until he received a shunt and went off at the meeting in Surfers Paradise, a race where he was on the front row with emerging Dick Johnson in the yellow LC Torana. After repairing it, he then sold it on. The mini has since been restored again back to the Don Holland livery as a show car. :)

Great stuff. You mentioned Max Stahl who created Racing Car News and had his Saturday morning radio show on 2CH if I recall correctly. Along with Will Hagon and photographer Lance Ruting’s input these people were our best source of motor sport info that I knew of.
Or this cameraman! I stood a metre from the ripple strips, completely out in the open at Warwick Farm. But I was 6 foot tall, bullet proof then, & got the biggest adrenaline rush from it.

It is Neil Allen's Chev Traco, which was built by Elfin for Matich. Bevan Gibson died at Bathurst in a similar car. Allen bought the car off Frank Matich, who cut the nose off it because they thought the pointy nose had caused Gibson's car to lift off on Conrod Straight. But that wasn't the problem. It was air building up behind the front wheels. Today's vented front guards was what it really needed. This car has been fully restored & still races occasionally in historics.
@@BillsBuildandRace I belong to the same vintage, but lived in Melbourne, so Sandown was my main go to venue. Beechy, Manton, McKeown particular favourites. And of course the Tasman Series. Then there was the BIb Stillwell (Cooper Monaco) vs Frank Matich (Lotus 23?) duels which were usually pretty close, until Matich turned up with his V8 powered monster. Was it the SR1? Anyway it blew every other car away. It was almost the length of the back straight ahead on the first lap. And the sound! Anyway, the name Henry Neyherbecki springs to mind, who I thought designed and built it, and powered by the Traco-Olds engine. Did attend one Warwick Farm meeting. Remember vividly, Lakis Manticas in his super lightweight Mini driving out of the pits. Talk about flimsy! Every panel shaking like a drum as he revved the engine.
Your work is outstanding I would love to get your Facebook or Instagram so I could ask some questions to get pointers on my half scale build. I have a super car body I am wanting to first build for my race go kart I’d love to race the body this upcoming race season. Love the work Bill keep it up!
Wonderful stuff. I can't believe how softly sprung the Elfin 400 was! The nosedive under brakes is like a family car.
