As a former race driver I occasionally have to watch this great racing series. The announcer does a very good job and the music is spot on. I'm privileged to own one of Rudolph Caraccioa's race trophies. I also have his book "A Racing Car Driver's World". Great book and highly recommended! He was my favorite 1930/1940s race driver.
Not quite sure how this got here on UA-cam.. It was produced by Terrific Stuff Ltd and is still available through Chaters . We have not given permission for this video to appear here on UA-cam. Anyway we are very proud of it so we hope you enjoy it or better still buy this DVD and The Return of The Silver Arrows.DVD.
One thing that isn't mentioned here is the need for handling the "fuel" for these vehicles, which required a near-scientist to mix and was toxic beyond any modern imagination.
as far as i know, werent only mercedes called that? cause on old movies that i watched they called Mercedes the arrows and auto union as auto union... well except this one hshshshs
Granted....but the purists will tell you when they raced for th first time with the w25, the italians sussed it over weight by the fluids. Mercedes sgripped the pure white paint off and aJournalist named it silver arrow..thanks for the post.
By the way, the legend about stripping the Mercedes W25 off of the white paint to get under the weight limit, that is likely a lie. The 1934 Eifelrennen did not use the 750kg formula. It was basically formula libre over 1500cc with no weight limit. The story was fabricated by Alfred Neubauer. I suppose they might have omitted the white paint for weight-saving reasons, but it was not as dramatic, rather a design choice...
@@carlogrillenzoni9764 bullshit. No matter where is it based. People could travel today, It’s Mercedes so it’s made by German. PS. Almost all british manufacturers developed by germans. Bentley, RR, Mini are completely German, Aston Martin uses Mercedes engines and technology. So what? What the point of your message? Are you brit? They always try to call something by their own.

It's 2023 right now and what comes around, goes around....Mercedes are in a dry spell after years of dominance, they were racing in traditional silver, but are running black bare carbon fiber this year to save weight, just like the original silver arrows were bare aluminum to meet a weight limit....Alfa Romeo is a team sponsor using Ferrari engines and has close ties to Ferrari, but Audi has bought into the team and will be a title sponsor and engine supplier in a few years, Ferrari is, of course still at it.

500 + HP on these skinny tires. Must have been quite a challenge.

not too many lived well for long either drivers or mechanics , you are correct, those fumes and mists were killers
Do they mix the same fuel today for the FOS , or is that regular fuel ?
the silver arrows fought against 4 other big germans united and won, that was legendary
silver arrows is name of both german companies, auto union and mercedes
Dr. Porsche and Hitler first met at the Solitude (Stuttgart) racing circuit in 1923/24 courtesy of Mercedes.

No, the W25 were not white. Just take a look at the picture in the same video.
