I added a wedge to my bag with the thought that the scoring gets done from 100 yards and in. Rather than manufacturing shots on the high end of the bag, I’m now simply dealing with occasional grip downs on the longer stuff to deal with any gaps. I now carry 50, 54 and 58. Mack Daddy’s and in one year, I went from a 14 to a low 11. My advice, manufacture shots by gripping down, knocking down, easing off or going hard with the long stuff and really just dialing in 3 wedges where you can be knocking flagsticks down and putting from inside 12 feet.
Important stuff first........I absolutely agree the selophane stuff makes the cucumber go soggy. Tin foil has to be the way to go. On the wedges, I carry 5!! Pitching at 46. Then 50, 54 both low bounce which I can hit various distances, 58 high bounce for Greenside bunkers and a low bounce 60 for going over bunkers etc around the green when its harder ground especially when shortsided. I know some people will tend to criticise having 5 but it works for me and that's what golf is all about - everyone is different. I don't hit it huge distances so I have to be v good 100 yds and in and my wedges give me options. All Cleveland wedges. Keep up the good work.
I'm using 4 wedges. PW, AW, SW and LW. In degrees: 47, 51, 55 and 59. My gapping is pretty much with little over 10 meters per club starting from 70 meters with the LW. So I'm very happy to have all 4 and I would go to half set in the irons. Stay metal, Eric. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
I’ve just switched from 50, 56 & 60 to 52 & 58. It now means I can carry 5w and 3i which so far is working out really well as gap between 4i & 5w was too big previously. Good luck with it 👍
Smart move to drop some wedges. Wedges have become so complicated.....degrees, grind and bounce. Not that long ago it was much simplier, you had a pitching and a sand wedge and did not care or know about grind and bounce. A guy had to learn how to manage distance through swing length, open and closing the face and delofting. I think you are correct by figuring out gaps using different swing lengths, delofting and open\closed face and then make you wedge choice from there. I wonder if you can get down to 2 wedges? I learned a valuable lesson today, how to properly store cucumber in the fridge! You little one is a doll. I can see why daily vlogs would be a challenge, unless you plan on some golf game vlogs. Twice a week and then the Sunday chat show?
I play a 50 56 and 62. Thinking of a 52 58 option myself so as to play both 3 hybrid and 2 iron that interchange currently. Best tip of the vid was the cucumber! I will definitely start to foil mine from now on also.
Lee, I have 4 wedges they are my scoring clubs. My bag is Driver, 3 wood, 5 Hybrid, 6 -9 iron PW, 52º, 56º, 60º & putter. The top of the bag is less important than the bottom for me! The gaps at the top don't bother me. I'm 14.2 H.I.down from 19.4, I shot even par 72 at the end of the season and was getting solidly in the mid to low 70s before our course close for the year. Add more wedges not less. I'm 68 and it took me 50+ years to learn. I thought it was 14 clubs not 15!
Another great video Lee . I’m using 4 wedges PW(43), 46 ,50 and 56 . I’m thinking same as you changing numbers in the bottom of the bad . Let us know you finding mate. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
I currently play a 2 wedge set up, a Ping Glide 3.0 wide sole 14 bounce 54 and an original Callaway PM grind 58 with 10 degree bounce. I play weaker lofted irons where pw is 49 degrees. Gaps are not the problem, but the right bounce/grind combo is. The 58 is my sole bunker club, because the sand at my course is extremely heavy and coarse. Of all the wedge combos I’ve tried, it gets thru the sand the best. But I don’t chip or pitch well with it. I can manipulate the 54 very well, but the 14 bounce is not happy on tight or hard lies. Need some heel and toe relief so I can open it up and keep the leading edge closer to the ground.
Great stuff Lee. 45 52 & 58 for me. Just get caught out every now and then playing half shots. Might go to set PW (44) and add a cavity back 48. Keep it simple.
After several years playing pitch, 51, 56, 60 I got confused by all the overlaps. So many options for almost every shot from 100 yds in. So for the last six months I've been playing pitch 52 and 58 replacing the cleveland 588s with smart sole wedges. Less options but no more confusion and much more confidence with half, 3/4 and full swings. But the smart sole has a very wide sole so bunkers can, on occasions,be a problem. Playing 2 specialist wedges left me space for another club, but gapping showed there was no need for another club. I have been playing a 5 hybrid and a 5 iron because my home course has 6 holes on the beach and the rest in the woods. That meant I could use the 5 hybrid for high flight soft land, but the 5 iron for low running shots in the wind of the sea. But the reality was that there was rarely a need for that. Now given the occasional bunker needing a high short flight I've decided to put the specialist sand wedge at 56 and 14 bounce back in the bag for this coming season.
No worries on pointing out the net. That looks better now! I haven’t hit wedges in my net yet as worried it might go over the top. Although could be a good training aid for you to stop the “high waffters”
One of the best short game tips I heard. Get a club that goes 100yds with full swing (for me its a 50, for you it might be a 54). Once you have a '100' club, it's easier to do the maths to hit different yardages, EG 80% swing for 80 yards, 50% swing for 50 yards, 75% swing for 75 yards etcf etc. It really works. Once you have this '100' club you can build your other wedges around it EG 46, 54 & 60 or 47, 54 & 60 etc etc.
i'm taking vicki's advice as my only swing thought next round, just hit it in the hole haha! I think more wedges is the way to go, you are gonna be taking 40% of your shots in 'wedge' range and maybe 10% in the top end outside of driver. more options at the bottom end makes more sense to me. I went down to PW 52 58 for 2020 and have now changed to PW (46) 50 54 and 58 with slightly different bounce options
Lee, l did the same last year and now use 46 - 52 - 58 so l can carry extra hybrid. Lucky for me l have good facilities at my club to practice distance control. I am based in Somerset so not far away, keep going with the practice it pays off eventually.
I currently carry 4 wedges, 46, 50, 54 & 58, but my 50 is my go to wedge for the reasons below, So I'm also thinking of going down to 3 wedges. Many thanks, good content, you make a good team with Dan & Lester.
Hi Lee, Enjoying your vids! I'm from the UK but live in Asia where the conditions are generally tropical with a lot of Bermuda grass... here I use 51, 55 and 59 but in my set in the UK use 52 and 58 because I find in the UK you have much more varied weather conditions where you need to control trajectory more from distance... You should check out the Miura wedges... I was given a set for my 50th and they are so consistent
I only use PW/52/56. But got new p770s coming, so will need to go PW/50/56. I prefer only having 2 specialist wedges. It creates less doubt, and it allows you to be more creative, manipulating the 56 for different situations. Also the benefits of having more room at the top of the bag is always a plus!
Thought provoking. I come up with a different answer everyday !! However, before lockdown in the wet winter weather I have carried 10 clubs as trollies banned. I have played really steady golf with a pitching wedge and MacDaddy 56, so do I just stick to that and not complicate matters Golf, it does ones head in.
I have 5 wedges in my bag 48 50 52 55 60....why I have no idea as I probably only use 3 of them but I do not have a driver in my bag. Therefore at the top end I have 3wd 3hy 4i 5i 6i etc. Need to look at my bag for this year and sort it out. I had a gap test last year which gave me an idea of my distances. Really enjoying the videos and agree with ensuring you come down on the ball with the wedges I expect we all have a habit of scooping at some point or on certain shots all the best.👍
Being 66 years old I'm a bit old school. I've got a pitching wedge & a sand iron. The short game was the strongest part of my game I think because I learned to play a variety of shots with just those two. Having said that, just bought a 60 degree to play about with.
Nothing wrong with 46/52/58 if you use more traditional PW, but if you like full shots and play shorter courses, a 3rd wedge may be helpful for your gapping Lee. You do poke it a ways, do you really need a 240/220/200 club at the top? probably not. A third wedge in there also can give you some bounce options, where the 50/51 can be lowish bounce, but a 55/56 is higher bounce if needed for lie conditions/heavy sand, then 60 for artistry. I used to hit everything inside 90 with a 60 thinking I practice with that and know my distances. Changing that philosophy has improved my average distance without question. I like more scoring options not less. Keep it up soon to be scratch Lee :)
Hey up Lee, don’t stress about your wedge choice , just go for the pw, 52, 58 bounces of your choice, you can always learn on one or take some off the other that’s the fun of golf happy hunting pal 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I have PW, 52, 56 and 60. I have few options at the top, depending what I need, conditions and how well I'm hitting them. If I need the space, I will take out the 60. I feel I can manage the 56 enough. Maybe you do the same with your 55. Having more options at the top would probably benefit more than bottom for you, and for most other people as well.
I am using 3 wegdes (4 with pw) and would never consider swapping one for something in the top. After reading Dave Pelz's Short game bible, I am absolute positive that is the right choice for me. With your lenght I would rather have some choices for the short game. Would be interesting to hear what uncle Dan has to say about this!
Lee, to be honest I look forward to the 4/5 videos a day from you fellas that do it. It breaks up the monotony of the shit life we’re all living at the moment and you are helping our “golf fix” - if you are able, please keep it up. Anyway, I’ve recently taken my 60 deg out of the bag, I had too many choices and it was affecting my shot selection / scoring so I make do with 54 deg and then go into Gap then pitching (P790’s) am thinking of a 7 wood as I just can’t hit long irons
I have some old Ping Tour wedges. 52,56 and 60 but I often leave the 60 out of the bag. I'm thinking about the addition of a second hybrid or a 5 wood too.
It's an interesting debate which never used to exist 25 years ago before Ping launched the "lob" wedge. This is the filling in the sandwich (not ham!) of what you now do for a living. It's also very personal. I learned to play golf from 5 years old so playing half shots with only 2 wedges is just natural to me. If it helps, it's very easy to learn to use only 3 clubs above 44 degrees of loft and blend in as many options at the top. I score better with 3 woods and a hybrid at the top. My hybrid covers the longest iron which is a 21 degree 3-iron (old lofts) which means I have options, my 5 wood then picks it up from the hybrid etc. I have more options off the tee which means I am in play 99% of the time, I have options on trajectory on long par 3's and approach shots and I have the fire-power on hitting par 5's in 2. I just manipulate my wedges, I have shorter swings for different yardages and find my accuracy improves because of the reduced and controlled shorter swing. This helps with controlling spin and release. The one shot I have given up is the "lob/flop" shot. Answer don't short-side yourself and if you need it just lay the sand wedge open....or don't play it at all, it's a glory shot we really don't need. At the end of the day you need to practice your short game and it's not a quick skill to learn, feel and touch takes practice. However YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO LEARN!!!!! Destination scratch needs a good short game. I play off 5 but am on the same destination as you. Keep at it Lee.
Thanks for this video on wedge selection. During summer i opted for Mac Daddy 52 (medium bounce) and 58 (low bounce tour grind). In winter/ very wet conditions i use Cleveland 50, 54 and 58 all medium bounce and find this works for me. I’m not consistent enough on three quarter or half swings but would ultimately see this as a way forward.
I have 50,56. Versatile wedges so I can open the faces to fill the gaps. I personally agree with what Seve said many years ago, limit loft to 56. Get creative with the 56. Liking your net set up, I'd need a mat like that to protect my lawn. Cheers Lee
I am using 50 McDaddy and 56 is Jaws 5. I took my pitching wedge out (it was 52deg). I am thinking of putting a 60 in in it’s place. My 9 iron is 47 deg.
I’ve got 4 wedges lee pw 52 56 and 60 but I certainly used my 52 and 56 around the greens more but I also use my 9i around the green and into strong winds to keep the ball lower and running but I’m alway trying things out cos it’s all about feel with me
Cleveland UHX PW @ 44, DW @ 49 and CBX2 @ 54. I have room for one more club, not sure if I go Cleveland Smart Sole 58 for when I need to pop over something or add a 7W or hybrid (not enough swing speed for a driving iron). I am leaning towards the 58 wedge.
Lee your bag is similar to mine, mine is driver,3 wood,17 degree hybrid, Callaway ut 18 degree, 4-pw, the 50,54,60, n only change between 2iron n 60 depending on course,if windy try a slight forward push with hands o wedge like wilbur
I carry the three wedges, all the Mizuno T20's. I have them in a 50, 54 and a 58. They fit in perfectly for me with my PW. PW 125 50 115 54 105 58 95 As I play on links course and when the wind blows I can manipulate them. I do tend to use my 54 for chipping in and around the green unless I need it to stop quick when I need to get it up and down quick or when I don't have much green to work with. The wedge game is a part of my game that has come on leaps and bounds.
First things first ... the most important thing I learned in this video was about the cucumbers. Thank your wife for me. I currently carry a 45-pw, 50-gw, and 55-sw. I have found I can hit a lofted ball from 80 yards in with great accuracy with my 55 and can open the face quite well near the green if I need loft there to get over a bunker. I can't see myself getting a 60 unless I want to just "try" it but I'd never carry it regularly. An important conversation you need to have with yourself is .. at what point do I stop trying to create more distance at the top of my bag (driver and lower lofted irons) and start dialing in what I do have for a more consistent game. Personally for me I feel that once I get my clubs properly gapped I want to focus on consistency and stop trying to hit the ball further. Don't force feed videos for the sake of creating content. You'll run out of creativity and begin to lose viewers.
I have 52/56/60 (5-PW set) - the first time ever I've had so many wedges. I like them but I also bought a driving iron this year so I too have 15 clubs and need to make the decision each time what club to leave out. I've not measured the driving iron against my hybrids (bought it too late in the season for a proper test) so in the few rounds I have played I dropped a hybrid - perhaps going forward it may be a wedge. Never had a 60 before so I am sure I could leave that behind.
I had the ping glide wedges but really struggled with them. I play ping g410 irons so decided to get their sw and law and the extra meat on the club gives me far more confidence and they perform pretty well
I found a method for half and 3/4 wedge shots that is really easy. Take your normal setup, let go of the grip and twist it so the face is pointing quite a lot to the left. Now take your grip again. Now to square the face back up to target you have to move your hands forward. Once you are back aiming at target feel like you swing back quite flat half or 3/4. Now on your down swing just collect the ball. For me this produces low pitches from 25 to 75 yards that bounce once and check up loads. Give it a try... because you don't break your wrist this method is easy to get consistent yards.
...just to add i was not taught this method by a pro, its just something that I found worked for me when I was practicing my short game, which has gone from average to v.good over the past 18 months.
I have just recently started changing my wedge/9 iron approaches into greens. I found that like you my ball flight was way too high most of the time, & I do have a gapping issue. (excuse the metres not yards). My PW is 45° & then 52°, 58° & a 60° specialist wedges. I can hit my PW up to 135m if I go at it & then up to my 52 it drops to 108m. So when I get my new irons in July this year I have some big decisions to make on that bottom end like you. I find that if I go at it full swing with my wedges I quite often miss right, especially with the 52. Since using a club that is longer for the desired shot but hitting it with a smoother shorter swing, & lower flight my approaches have improved immensely. I really do not know at the moment what I will do with the bottom end. I need to decide on the other irons & then gap after that. I am intrigued to watch your journey. 😊
I play with 4 wedges but I am reviewing by whole bag this year after playing with the same clubs for 4 years. My driver is pretty much a weapon for me in terms of consistency and distance. So prefer the options when get close to the green. Get that driver working and keep the options at the bottom end would be my call.
I want to see a Cuban sandwich for lunch one day, Vicki! Ham sandwiches from around the world! 🎵We dine well here at Camelot! We eat ham and jam and spamalot!🎶
Play Callaway X20 irons and my only wedges are Pw and Sw from set! Think the lofts are 45 and 55 so am looking for a 50 Gw! As these are cavity back irons, I am looking to purchase a Callaway CB wedge. Just need lockdown to end to try one out, prob in Spring
Oddly having worked on my swing before lock down3 I had gained yardage was think about adding a 50 to my 54,58 wedge as I have a sizeable distance gap between pitching wedge an 54 😊
Pw around 45 or 46, 50, 54 SW, and 58 Lw in my opinion. Most shots are played inside of 100 yards, but sometimes it can be too confusing. I think it can be course dependent on what you play regularly.
I've been using 52/58 for a while and like the simplicity. I'm finding that the bigger issue is my pitching wedge! Do I use the hollow body from the set which lacks feel or get a bladed PW which will probably lose distance on full shots. I like to chip with a PW so it's a bit of a dilemma.
Lee it's good if your able to hit wedges consistently .I don't mean you I mean average golfers .sometimes to many clubs make it more confusing.I myself at recant times have taken clubs out to help wight while carrying also isn't it good to be able to play different shots with the same club?
I currently play 51° and 57° but am thinking of going to 52° and 58° or just bending what I have. Used to carry 51°, 54°, 57° and 60°. Mainly cause I was an idiot!! Did it for both reasons. Too many options at the bottom end and wanted more options at the top, both distance and ball flight (high lofty hybrid or low 2 iron)
Currently have pw at 45 , sm7 at 48 , 52 , 58 considering loosing some as am playing worse with more wedges . Used to have set pw , sw and a 60 and I feel I actually had better shot making with less am having a gapping session and may go to set pw and 2 more , and try the new mizuno wedges
I have used a 52 and 58 for several years now, after moving from 52,56 and 60. I would not go back to having 3 specialist wedges again, as it gives me an extra option for the 220 yard shot, instead of having to kill my 3 iron, or ease off on my 3 wood.
Currently have a pw, 52 and 56, but the gap between 52 and 56 isn't quite right for me, so might move to 50 and 56. I don't need more loft than 56 where I play.
52 and 56 for me. Thinking of going up to a 58 but if I am honest with myself I should just learn (ie practice) to use what I have. Pretty Seve managed with a 56.
depends if you have a stupidly strong PW .. some are 42degs, which means you have a huge gap to fill and need a few more wedges. If you have a traditionally lofted PW (46 deg) then you can close the gap with 2 specialist wedges and have more options up the top --- i carry a 46 (PW), 52 and 58 which are Cleveland RTXs - that works nicely
Been thinking about your desired set up Driver, 3 Wood, 5 Wood 7wood 2 iron then 4-pw plus likely 51 and 58. (plus putter =15 but that is irrelevant) If you write it down like that it seems a very odd set up at the top of the bag. It is what my Dad uses (without the 2 iron). I just do not think you would recommend that set up to one of your punters... Certainly not one with your clubhead/ball speed.
in my bag is a pitching wedge, 44 deg other's at 49, 54 ,58 up the other end is driver.3 wood and 2 rescue's . have you ever thought about taking a club from the middle of your bag so that you can leave the top and bottom of your bag alone
Been thinking about doing the same with my wedges but not sure if its the right way to go. Need another gap test I think to find out where the issues are. Who knew that about cucumbers, genius!
Doesn't deloft mean to make the face more steep? So if you deloft your wedge, you would be taking loft out of it, like going from 50 degrees to 46 degrees, which means you would hit further. May be I am confused by what you mean by deloft. Cheers from Texas🤠
Two questions Lee (everybody), Any tips on bounce and grind Lee, (anybody)?! Looking a new set 6-PW and because of budget and to be honest time, practicing with with 2 wedges seem more sensible than 3. 52 & 58 degree, or will the gaping be to big? Cheers all.
lol I thought it was upside down but assumed I was wrong as the name hanging down was readable. As to wedges, if your pitching wedge is part of a set then these days they tend to be around 44/45 degrees If so then you need 3 wedges. If your pitching wedge is more around the 48 degree then you can reduce to 2 wedges As to changing your lofts, don't forget that it will also alter the bounce I changed to SM8's 44 degree 9 iron, 48, 54 & 60 SM8's
I'm looking to change from 4 to 3 wedges 🤦♂️ Currently playing 43°, 48° and 52° set wedges, and 56° SM7 sand wedge. I want to drop the 48 and 52 for a 50°, and give me room for a 7 wood
Four I've got 47/50/54/60 I don't think I need to lose any all those get me to my distances. I have right clubs at top end of my bag. But don't use a driver can't get on with them. I use a 3 wood or driving iron for driving.
Lee thats true your wife is beautiful and fantastic to listen to her speak with that accent. And the baby is gorgeous. I have two Cleveland wedges a 56 and a 60 .I only use the 60 when I'm in the sand. I can't get any distance with the 60 degree.
Have you analysed where you are losing strokes? If your wedge game is strong at the moment then why mess with it? If you're dead set on removing a wedge why not carry two drivers - one forgiving, one low spin bomber.
46* 50* 55* 60* I dont want more than 5* between my wedges. The courses I play are 6300 to 6600 yds so they are not overly long so I'd rather have more scoring clubs.
Your both a good looking couple but nothing that a razor could do for Lee's face and make him even more handsome . . yes more Q&A with the missus, she funny without even trying, she's a natural.
I use a club set PW & GW and the SM8 54 & 58 deg wedges. I also use a 4W, 5W & 7W at the higher end. Guys like me (and you all) keep the golf club makers from going out of business. ⛳😉⛳
Same wedge set up with T20
Good luck with it 👍
Great point and I've got the same going on .
This is something I'm considering as 4i just isn't long enough for me off the tee (180 carry) so I want an iron off the tee and woods between driver.
2 wedges can do the job and its much easier to adjust distances at that end of the bag. I carry 52 and 56 Cleveland CBX2. Keep up the good work.
Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Excellent. Using back garden to keep going through lockdown. I’m not even using the motorbike to go to the shops. Just too cold!
Many thanks, good content, you make a good team with Dan & Lester.
thank you
Hi Lee,
Enjoying your vids!
Wow 5 wedges 😮 I can get very scoopy
That's fifteen club's with the putter Lee TOTALLY agree with the two specialist wedges 52&58 for me cheers Lawrence
Yeah I didn’t mean to say 7 wood 😂
PW 52 56 for me, it's all I seem to need
I have 50,56. Versatile wedges so I can open the faces to fill the gaps. I personally agree with what Seve said many years ago, limit loft to 56. Get creative with the 56.
Liking your net set up, I'd need a mat like that to protect my lawn. Cheers Lee
I am using 50 McDaddy and 56 is Jaws 5. I took my pitching wedge out (it was 52deg). I am thinking of putting a 60 in in it’s place. My 9 iron is 47 deg.
Love Vicki's golf philosophy so simple!
Good stuff pal. I’m 52 & 58 gives me the option top end to get a 2i I just have never got around to getting one lol 😂
I’ve got 4 wedges lee pw 52 56 and 60 but I certainly used my 52 and 56 around the greens more but I also use my 9i around the green and into strong winds to keep the ball lower and running but I’m alway trying things out cos it’s all about feel with me
I’ve had the same dilemma lee , finally got it , 53 & 60 wedges , lol 👍
Cleveland UHX PW @ 44, DW @ 49 and CBX2 @ 54. I have room for one more club, not sure if I go Cleveland Smart Sole 58 for when I need to pop over something or add a 7W or hybrid (not enough swing speed for a driving iron). I am leaning towards the 58 wedge.
Great start to the video. Like how most of our rounds start. Think you should look at the new ping driver
Lee your bag is similar to mine, mine is driver,3 wood,17 degree hybrid, Callaway ut 18 degree, 4-pw, the 50,54,60, n only change between 2iron n 60 depending on course,if windy try a slight forward push with hands o wedge like wilbur
To finally see Nora smile was a treat.
I carry the three wedges, all the Mizuno T20's. I have them in a 50, 54 and a 58. They fit in perfectly for me with my PW.
PW 125
50 115
54 105
58 95
As I play on links course and when the wind blows I can manipulate them.
Lee keep these coming daily is fine. Love the interaction with the family and ham of the day reveal!
Best tip of the day was how you store a cucumber 😂😂
Yeah that was funny never realised that about the cucumber though
I had the ping glide wedges but really struggled with them. I play ping g410 irons so decided to get their sw and law and the extra meat on the club gives me far more confidence and they perform pretty well
I'm currently playing the same lofts and thinking about making the same move. The reason is I hardly use my 60 and I could use more help at the top.
I use 48, 54,58 sm7 and have practiced really hard on 1/2 and3/4 shots. Keep the style of your vlogs better than some of the established guys
Interesting video Lee. I play a 50, 54 and 58
Oddly having worked on my swing before lock down3 I had gained yardage was think about adding a 50 to my 54,58 wedge as I have a sizeable distance gap between pitching wedge an 54 😊
Pw around 45 or 46, 50, 54 SW, and 58 Lw in my opinion. Most shots are played inside of 100 yards, but sometimes it can be too confusing. I think it can be course dependent on what you play regularly.
I’m have dropped the 56 and go 52 58. 3-4-5 woods all in. Need all the length I can get.
Rather than loads of wedges, learn different shots with them.
Can’t beat the Ham sandwiches 👍🏻, I use the 52 and 58 sm8s. If lockdown ever ends I want to work on bringing my ball flight down With my irons.
Mizuno S18s in 50, 54 & 58 degrees. Like Lee if I could learn to deloft I could probably get away with 52 & 56 degree wedges
48, 52, 56, 60. Left out the 4 and 5 as I rarely use them.
I think a 52 and 58 would be ideal assuming the PW in the irons you choose is around 46 degrees. Have you hit one over the net yet?
Cleveland RTX4 wedges 50 54 58.
Considering 52 56 so I can have Hybrid and 2 iron or 5 wood
Been thinking about your desired set up
Driver, 3 Wood, 5 Wood 7wood 2 iron then 4-pw plus likely 51 and 58. (plus putter =15 but that is irrelevant)
If you write it down like that it seems a very odd set up at the top of the bag. It is what my Dad uses (without the 2 iron).
I just do not think you would recommend that set up to one of your punters... Certainly not one with your clubhead/ball speed.
I didn’t mean 7 wood 😂😂 speak before I think
PW (46), 52, 56, 60. However, I am considering getting a 58 degree wedge and then add a club at the top end.
Hope you get that bag set up to help get the bus tour to 59! Like the videos buddy keep it up
48° 52° 56° for me. If you change lofts will you buy new or bend your current wedges?
new, bending effects the bounce too much
@@LWG cool, didn't think about the bounce.
in my bag is a pitching wedge, 44 deg other's at 49, 54 ,58 up the other end is driver.3 wood and 2 rescue's . have you ever thought about taking a club from the middle of your bag so that you can leave the top and bottom of your bag alone
I do sometimes if I want to keep the 2 iron and hybrid
Been thinking about doing the same with my wedges but not sure if its the right way to go. Need another gap test I think to find out where the issues are.
Who knew that about cucumbers, genius!
Doesn't deloft mean to make the face more steep? So if you deloft your wedge, you would be taking loft out of it, like going from 50 degrees to 46 degrees, which means you would hit further. May be I am confused by what you mean by deloft. Cheers from Texas🤠
nope you got it, taking loft off the club
@@LWG thanks, Lee, just a little confused at 9:15 to 9:20 or so. Like the videos, carry on.
Two questions Lee (everybody),
Any tips on bounce and grind Lee, (anybody)?!
Looking a new set 6-PW and because of budget and to be honest time, practicing with with 2 wedges seem more sensible than 3. 52 & 58 degree, or will the gaping be to big?
Cheers all.
Bounce and grind is very swing dependant and conditions you normally play. My advice is get a proper fitting
Lee what are 3 green bottles behind you on the right !!
Had Pw,50,55,60 but removed the 60 so I could add a 3 iron. Like yourself I wanted another option at the top end.
lol
I thought it was upside down but assumed I was wrong as the name hanging down was readable.
As to wedges, if your pitching wedge is part of a set then these days they tend to be around 44/45 degrees
If so then you need 3 wedges.
If your pitching wedge is more around the 48 degree then you can reduce to 2 wedges
As to changing your lofts, don't forget that it will also alter the bounce
I changed to SM8's 44 degree 9 iron, 48, 54 & 60 SM8's
I'm looking to change from 4 to 3 wedges 🤦♂️
Currently playing 43°, 48° and 52° set wedges, and 56° SM7 sand wedge.
Another top video pal 👍🏾 very informative
Lee thats true your wife is beautiful and fantastic to listen to her speak with that accent. And the baby is gorgeous. I have two Cleveland wedges a 56 and a 60 .I only use the 60 when I'm in the sand. I can't get any distance with the 60 degree.
Have you analysed where you are losing strokes? If your wedge game is strong at the moment then why mess with it?
If you're dead set on removing a wedge why not carry two drivers - one forgiving, one low spin bomber.
Lose most of my shots with driver or coming short on wedges.
Can’t argue with a woman’s wisdom
like you said make its all about gapping but you need something you can open up and flop
46* 50* 55* 60* I dont want more than 5* between my wedges. The courses I play are 6300 to 6600 yds so they are not overly long so I'd rather have more scoring clubs.
Mate , mirror image with the wedges , dropped the 58 ego wedge and gone with 48 pitching wedge and 52 and what a bonus that is
Your both a good looking couple but nothing that a razor could do for Lee's face and make him even more handsome . . yes more Q&A with the missus, she funny without even trying, she's a natural.
nice little happy family.....
I use a club set PW & GW and the SM8 54 & 58 deg wedges. I also use a 4W, 5W & 7W at the higher end. Guys like me (and you all) keep the golf club makers from going out of business. ⛳😉⛳
My pw is 43 so got (aw 48) 52 56 60 mavrik pro irons and callaway jaws wedges
How common are 7w over there? Seems I'm hearing about them quite a bit lately.
Not that common really. Shame because they are great clubs
not sure on wedges but your ham sandwedge is a keeper
😂😂😂
