- Along with the Ukraine government, Liubov Tsybulska has been angered by President Macron's warning not to "humiliate" the Russians and by his phone calls with Vladimir Putin.
"It's not diplomacy to call the war criminal," says Tsybulska, an advisor to Ukraine's foreign ministry.
After everything Russian forces have done in Ukraine, she says, avoiding humiliating Putin is not an option.
Can Ukraine continue to trust the West for support - or does it fear a deal being done behind its back?
Tsybulska joined Tim Sebastian on the line from Brussels on 7 July.

Liuobov Tsyabulvka handled that interview so well. I'm constantly impressed by the professionalism and honesty of the Ukraine government.
They admit when things are not going well and don't make outlandish claims even as the tide is turning against Russia.
This war is far from decided. They deserve our help and that's absolutely in the West's interests as well.

It was not just an interview; it sounded like a foreboding Deposition from a fearful desperate party feeling that something very bad will soon happen, but the calm, beautiful Ukrainian lady was in full control-like saying: “Let not your heart be troubled; we’re fighting till we win”.

Tall words and nothing else. Except for Kyiv and Kherson, where Russ military withdrew themselves, Ukraine haven't yet scored a single successful counterattack and are losing territory each day. Don't believe my words. Look at pro-Ukrainian UA-cam channels that report overall military situation. One such channel that I'll suggest is: "War in Ukraine".
Don't listen to lazy journalist who sit in the comfort of their office and just interview another lazy govt. official saying tall words from the comfort of his office while his soldiers are dying.

Russian troops are fighting for the rich in Russia to become richer and the poor to become poorer, the sooner they realise this the better.

U.S. policy toward Iran has been a failure too: The war in Iraq enhanced Iran’s regional influence, and ratcheting up sanctions didn’t stop Tehran from acquiring the capacity to build a nuclear weapon if it ever decides to do so. Unfortunately, Trump abandoned the 2015 deal that shrank Iran’s enrichment capacity and stockpile of nuclear materials and extended its “breakout time,” and his administration subsequently threatened to sanction several U.S allies (all of them members of the “free world” by the way) if they stuck to the agreement (which had also been unanimously endorsed by the United Nations Security Council). And what was the end result of this brilliant demonstration of U.S. leadership? Iran is closer than ever to building a bomb, and the Biden administration has been unable to find a way back to the original deal.
Given all the above, it is not surprising that U.S. efforts to spread democracy and other liberal values around the world have been a bust. According to Freedom House, 2020 was the 15th consecutive year that the level of global freedom declined, and NATO allies like Poland and Hungary now openly reject key liberal values under the blanket of U.S. protection. The Economist Intelligence Unit offers an equally gloomy assessment, concluding “global democracy continued its decline in 2020,” with a mere 8.4 percent of the world’s population living in a fully democratic country. (To repeat: It does not count Americans among them.)
Given this track record, there is little reason for Americans to see themselves as wise leaders on the world stage and little reason for others in the free world to follow its guidance uncritically.
Am I being unfair or offering up a biased picture? Perhaps. As noted at the beginning of this column, there is no obvious alternative “leader…

May i add that US Weapons don't come for free for Ukraine.. it's lend-lease that has to be paid back with interest. UKRAINE'S GDP is 2021--160bn, 2022--90bn (45% decline this year according to World Bank), debt level 129bn. So 2022 GDP smaller than Debt + Lendlease payments to USA. Poor uKraine will soon be poorer than Zimbabwe if not defaulting
@@babblo1389 If they are in financial debt the US will work with them. If they are killed by Russians because they didn’t get the equipment they need they won’t exist anyway. I’m pretty sure the latter is worse.
Lend-lease does NOT need to be paid back.

I thought all the questions were "in-bounds". Liubuv answered or didn't answer as appropriate. As noted elsewhere, she'd be a welcome addition to any government as a spokesperson, or for that matter, any role.

Goodness me, this woman is so on point, an exceptional spokesperson for Ukraine. Over three months ago Biden hinted at a change of regime in Russia...that little suggestion was not a gaffe..that was on purpose and also US defense secretary Lloyd Austin said their aim is to help Ukraine "minimize and weaken the Russian military"..this is where the Americans stand on this war and that will not change until these goals are met and both Putin's regime and his military is defeated. Don't know what France or Germany is thinking but I'm sure it's something quite selfish and I think they've already forgotten that Ukraine and her brave and proud people are actually fighting this brutal war against Russia on their behalf.

One avoids here to think, it could lead to an uncomfortable situation with a lot of unanswered questions. So Germans (not all of them) see their contribution as primarily humanitarian help. Traumatized after WW2, humiliated by Russians, they can not stop to repeat: "peace is more important as war" and "peace can be reached when w don't deliver our weapons to the front line because Russia is invincible and peace talks are without alternative so perhaps it would be better to start right away.

The leaders proposing peaceful talks do not understand the situation in Ukraine. And Macron, suggest surrender? Tsssss, no words for it
This is because the rest of the world care lesser about Ukraine everyday. They care about the hunger and food problems that will come. They put pressure on Europe to make Ukraine negociating with Russia. Two examples from last week.
- The african delegations talked with Ruussia about grain and weath import. They made agreements but Ukraine refuse to take away the mines so this important port to export grain to Africa stay blocked. So Africa become anoyed of this
- The arabian countries declared that they will not sanction Rusia anymore and start to trade more with Russia again.
We need to be careful that the world once hunger will strike will not become the enemy of the west.
I mean for the world, what is a region in Ukraine? Its like for us a war that happen in Africa.
Go and fight there instead of passing comments from outside of the ring. Anyone who is not able to send troops out of fear or inability can only talk peace.
Tbh, people are starting to care less of Ukraine as their own problem growing bigger e.g. oil and gas prices, food shortage, overall inflation etc. Humanitarians efforts are on one side but people are fighting for their issues and the longer the war will continue, more and more people will start to curse their own government for not solving their issues.

The mean questions are the ones that matter, not the comfortable easy ones. This is not a feelgood session, it's about a clear view on the bad situation of no less than a struggle for survival.
What a great speaker... She should be interviewed much more often. She handled so well some questions that were really tough.
It is absurd for Ukraine NOT to strike at Russia. First of all, why would any combatant let an opponent just sit across a border and then attack with impunity from the "safe" side of the border .... insanity. Secondly, until Russian citizens see the same type of pain, damage, and destruction that Ukraine does .... they will not understand the true cost of the war that their government is waging. Thirdly, to allow Russia to use rail and infrastructure to resupply is pretty poor military logic. Destroy it and prevent more Russian resupply. Fourthly, there is no way Russians will overthrow Putin, until they see the truth and suffer significant harm in their own lives. Send the Ukrainians cruise missiles, ICBM, long range rockets, etc. and let them take the war to Russia as well.

Liubov is possibly the most concise English speaking official spokesperson for Ukraine I've seen to date. Excellent answers to not only the predominantly sympathetic questioning, but also the tedious gotcha's, likely only included to appease the anti-msm brigade. Liubov Tsybulska is the most intelligent and articulate woman I have ever seen interviewed. English is not her first language but when difficult questions were put to her, she answered in perfect English and without hesitation, giving highly intelligent commonsense answers. She is brilliant and a wonderful asset to her Country and her fellow Ukrainians. In contrast, Macron's comments are foolish.
