Vintera ii just came out so fuck me ig
But now you've got something that's exactly the way you want it. Keep that guitar, and buy a Vintera II if you can afford to.😉
Sorry Brother, Still cool mod job though and you might as well keep it an get the Blue one... and you might find you like the one you got now.
Wish they would've done the matching headstock and had the red available
don’t trip about it yours has hella mojo now considering you did all the work yourself and made it to you’re liking if anything it could be better than the vintera with the upgrades you did
Hey dude, congrats on your build, it's beautiful. I notice your sound demo only plays in the left headphone. That happens when you take a mono signal (from one mic) and put it on a stereo track in your video editing suite. If you change that audio track to mono, it'll actually play in both headphones. #protip
Really nice of you to take the time to offer some friendly advice, you're a legend.
That build is worth sending back. I know it's a lower cost guitar, but I'd find the ding and the fretboard errors totally unacceptable. But either way, very cool upgrades and thanks for sharing!
Quality control on the classic vibe series has gone down a ton over the past few years. The ones I've seen in the late 2010s were all great, good fretwork, no lacquer problems.
Got a tele and a strat from that era, great instruments.
Now they come with really rough frets, lifting fret ends, glue all over the board, and cracked lacquer at the neck pocket from the factory it seems.
They cut other corners too, where the 50s teles back then came with brass saddles they now use steel, I also doubt that they still use full size pots.
Pretty sad considering that they also either haven't changed the prices or even went up on it
i have a lot of squires that came with little problems like this and if i wasnt able to fix them right away then i woulden't have bought 6 more squires lol, these guitars arent trash its just a gamble with the quality control sometimes. I never care about dings and things when it comes to cheap guitars because i will abuse them more
About those dents. If the wood is visible, try to get a dye pen closest to the stripes color to cover it. Then fill those dents with a thin CA glue. Do it in a few passes. Don’t try to fill them completely in one go. After that level the area with a razor blade. Tape of that blade on both ends to prevent them from scratching the paint. Be careful btw. After that use a bit of the lightest car polish available to make those dents go away completely.
Try it on some junk piece of wood before the guitar, just to be sure. But if you’ll do everything right those dents will disappear without a trace.
My dream Mustang is the Beck Orange version...
Koyuki being lucky having an orange mustang
@@jiejie7jie such an underrated anime
there is a Beck Signature Mustang. But you can't longer buy it. On reverb at the Moment is a Beck Signatur Mustang. That you can Buy. Fender MG-69 Beck
@fabiankun that thing goes for a little less than the beck tele. Nuts
Mines the JmJ it looks gnarly and goes perfectly with my usual fit
Love the pickups you chose! That out of phase tone especially is so cool. I might have to grab one of these as well!
That orange is the most amazing color ever, I bought a fender Duo sonic, the hard tail produce more bite, really percusive and huge tone for a short scale guitar, may sugest you to install a hotrail in the bridge... You will love how versatile become... The neck pick up in mustangs are bright and depth... Mustang is a Must have guitar.. Are fun fun hell fun to play..
I always loved the look and concept of the Competition Mustang, and you never see Fender do Orange guitars, but how they did this specific competition colors is so unique, that you can't help but love it!
What an awesome video!! I love classic vibes, I just mod the hell out of them. Look forward to future content like this!
The mustang always was my dream guitar, and I'm really happy to see that your dream came true 👍
Classic Vibes are amazing.
If I had the space I think I would buy one of each.
It is so cool to get to play instruments that normally would be WAY out of my price range.
Congrats on getting tuners that fit without using a drill press.
I have not had the best luck with replacement tuners that claim they will "drop in".
Glad yours did.
awesome looking guitar, the bridge sounds really good! nice job on the mods.
Awesome build! I've always loved these guitars. Especially in orange.
My favorite guitar and color! Awesome review! Keep them coming!!!!!! All the best from Australia!
sounds feicin' sick! especially out of phase with DS-1.
I'm currently modding my Squier CV mustang. I went for just a SD hot rail in the bridge, also painting the headstock matching lake placid blue
Really cool guitar and nice riffage too, thanks for sharing!
Great information, well-made video, good subject matter! You are very detailed and presentable. Hope you get a sponsor!
The out of phase sounds so good!
Amazing work man! It sounds awesome
Beautiful to see. My first guitar was a super deep blue Squier mustang back in like 2017. Nice to see some appreciation for these things
Locking tuner probably the best upgrade everyone should do. ❤
looks good man! i really love the competition orange color i have the strat one
Great tones on that thing from coast to coast. I had to cobble together a lefty duosonic, cuz there was nothing available at the time. Put some black bobbin pups in there, and she's a little tiger. Through a marshall 18 watter she's a beast. I do agree with your neck choice. I went with the smaller vintage radius neck and wish now that i had made it a 9 1/2" radius. The surf tone identity that you associate yours with is only due to your amp choice. Experiment with other amps and that axe will hang with any rig out there.Via con Dios.
Absolutely beautiful, great job man
love it man, keep it it's beautiful
Dude you got a badass instrument and made it killer, those classic vibes are amazing and great platforms for mods like you spoke of earlier. One thing for sure is made in Indonesia is the new made in mexico, I have several guitars over $1,000 that were made in Indonesia. The quality is there just pick one up for yourself and see. Definitely going to have to grab one of these before they're gone and I'm kicking myself.
I was thinking about getting this guitar exactly
Dude that blue Mustang is a dream guitar for me, as a Nirvana fan and just as a blue guitar lover it’s my dream guitar. Great mods tho.
Love the video, I just got a surf green cv 70 Jaguar and I love the guitar after setting it up fully stock. I just bought Grover tuners, a fender tremolo and a staytrem bridge to upgrade it since I agree on you with the pickups being great stock on the cv lines. I am debating on getting the Duncan hot jag pickups to get a height out put but I feel like the stock pickups are still amazing if I don’t want to spend the money. Again, amazing video and I’m glad you made a beautiful guitar ever more beautiful, keep up the great work.
Sounds like a fun project! And if you like the stock pickups, keep them! I always think about the saying “If it’s not broken, then don’t fix it” and it saves me hundreds of dollars!
tuners look sweet with the guard
Weirdly, my favorite looking Mustang is the red one that stopped functioning during a Tv presentation on France, and Pat Smear saved the day
(although I am cute sure someone muted Kurt's guitar on the console, since no signs/noises were heard, just completely muted.)
🤘 kick ass mustang and a squire too, I'm thinking of getting one myself and modded like a cyclone 2 🎸
Nice mod!
American Jaguar owner here. The sound of your guitar reminds me a lot the sound of the Jaguar. Your guitar is a bit brighter, especially the neck pickup.
Great video man!
Sounds good.
Dude, I bet you almost had a heart attack when they released the Vintera II mustang, in your favorite color❤
Amazing man ❤
My band WhoseHouseIsThis? and I just released our first album ‘Mediocre Afternoon’, which is where many of the riffs/chords from the sound demo of this video are from, go check it out!
www.whosehouseisthis.com/music
Yes sir checking it out keeping rocking🎸🤘
like the paint job, keep up the learning with the music!
this is literally the same guitar I want. Orange is my favorite color omg
I live in Australia and we can’t order guitars from CME here, unfortunately. Pretty guitar. Love her.
That sucks! I’ve always wanted to buy gear form Anderton’s because they have so many exclusive color guitars/gear but same problem here, they don’t ship to me!
Very good job 👌
From france 🙋🇫🇷
I have a yellow one 1972
And i love her
My dream guitar is an american ultra strat in greenish blue with white plastic parts. It'd look so good man.
Very cool. Thanks! 😃🎸
They just brought these back with the vintura 2 series
Your new build looks fantastic. I've been thinking of picking on of them up too.
Weird that your American Performer has issues with noisy pickups. I've got the American performer, with yosemite pickups, and they are dead quiet. I think they have a great sound too. Sometimes, I am left wanting a bit more output, but for the most part I am happy with them.
Man that’s weird, cus I’ve seen demos on UA-cam where it’s dead quiet too. And it was like that for two in a row for me! I guess I just got unlucky
damn the color looks so good
Very good, sir!
Looks great and sounds awesome! I'm thinking about moding a Squier Jag as well in the near future.
Awesome! Good luck! Do beware, in my experience and a LOT of other peoples experiences, the CV Jaguars seem to be the most problematic out of all of the CV models out rn, so hope you get lucky and get a good one! Sweetwater has an exclusive Olympic white one with a matching headstock, might have to pick that one up one day for another project guitar!
@@thekipinator7660 Ah good to know. I'm about to make some upgrades to my Fender Duo Sonic soon (new tuners, pots, and nut) so I'm going to try and hold myself back before getting a guitar for the pure attention of moding loool. Squier does have an Offset Telecaster (Paranormal) that I have been keeping my on tooo...
amazing vid man :)
Just released a new single with my band WhoseHouseIsThis? called “Subject to Change” and it’s out everywhere now!
www.whosehouseisthis.com/music
Squier really owns it with the classic vibe series at the time, it is so good! I don't own one yet, i don't think these are the kind of plug and play instruments quality wise, iv'e seen a lot of issues in different reviews, but i don't care. It is even better, they are meant to be modded. This could be a whole new generation of heavy modified unique guitars. It goes even further with the new paranormal series. I think Squier finally became a whole new thing, not just the cheap official fender rip-off.
And you are right, with the player series. It is missing something. I think they are reliable instruments (got a player strat), but it's not the classic deal. And they are don't meant to be.
I bought a Bullet Mustang years ago and I still really like it, hoping to get a classic vibe or a Fender Mustang one day!
Those are killer, especially since they have a three way switch, the traditional mustang switching gets super annoying 😱
I loved my mid 1960's red Mustang I used in my first R/R band in high school, but I soon learned the trem/bridge would break high strings quickly. I got rid of the original body and built a semi-hollow body Mosrite replacement that helped solve the problem. A local music store traded it for a brand new Ventura jazz guitar so that I could expand my range. A great experience.
Forget the guitar. That lego head is AMAZING
thank you for the video
Hey so I just got that guitar as well, it is beautiful! Your video convinced me. But it has really bad hum, did yours have it too? And what did you do to fix it? I’m planning on modding it too.
I own a vintage white mustang. I really love it. I also own a fender duo sonic in daphne blue which I also love. Comparing them side by side I can say quality wise there is no difference. Necks feel similar, tuners on the squier are better. Pickups on the duo sonic are better.
If you don't care for a tremolo then try to find a second hand player mustang or duo sonic.
If you care about vintage correct instruments then go for the classic vibe.
You can't go wrong!
I love it!! C
It might confort you a bit knowing that I also bought a Vintera Lake Placid Mustang brand new, and it also came with a ding on the finish, the guitar isn't the most expensive series from Fender but it's not cheap either.
Japanese made Mustangs are known to have perfect finition though imo they're on par with the american Fenders if not better in terms of quality.
bro this is great I love this guitar. I have a mustang and it's a nightmare to keep it in tune. I've been thinking to lock in bridge but I don't know how to do it in a good way. It would be fantastic if you can do a full setup tutorial. This is a tricky guitar but amazing to play.
Maybe I will! I love whammy bars tho and use the mustang one very frequently so it would most likely be how to set it up for whammy bar use :p
Most common problem with the vibrato system on mustangs not always perfectly going back to zero is usually the springs being stiff and stubborn internally. Next time you take the strings off, look for the two posts under each side of the cigar where the bar system goes into the body. Put a shit load of any kind of lubricant oil into the space that the posts go into, while mashing the bar system up and down very violently to work the oil in. Keep doing this a bunch until you feel like there’s no way it isn’t oiled tf up. This should help the vibrato system pop back into tune every time! I usually have to do this with EVERY mustang after purchasing it.

Check this video out, and skip to 23:26, explains this process a lot better, this is where I learned it! Works every time!
i just ordered one of these
guess we have the same dream guitar, congrats on getting it
Great video! I do wish you put more detail into the modding and less time dedicated to the different tones, but still very good video :)
Brooooo you really look like Gbe Cruzzz From Braille😂 I love your videos keep it up!!!
sick guitar, shame on CME for shipping it out with that ding though!!, They should have put in the B-stock and gave you a perfect one mate!
14 secs in already love the video
Nice!
Do you know the Japanese band Necry Talkie? If you don't I recommend you listen to them or at least check them out. The main singer Mossa has an authentic 60's fender mustang same colorway and everything. Seeing her with this guitar is what originally made me wanna get one.
I love mustangs. You’d be surprised how obtainable 1960’s - 70’s originals are. If you’re looking at the American performer mustang, id recommend this: I bought an all original 1966 mustang for $1500 on Reverb. Yeah not cheap, but only $200 more than an American performer? I’d take the true vintage over a reissue any day.
hey, I'm thinking about getting it myself. how are the frets, especially the fret ends? my jag cv 70s had terrible fret ends, and a few high frets
edit: you mentioned it, sorry!
Damnnn, that tone is clean. What amp /mic do you use to record? Or do you DI and use an amp sim? Sounds really killer
Thanks, I used fender Tonemaster deluxe reverb, and mic’d it with a Sennheiser e906
3:47
Love the look of the guitar man. Any chance you remember where u got that sticker? Great touch for the vibe of that build
It’s my bands logo, I made the sticker, my band is WhoseHouseIsThis?
@@thekipinator7660 right on my man I dig it
kinda sad that Chicago music exchange never did a QC on this "limited" edition. but hey if youre happy. nice
BRO I'M YOUR THOUSANDTH SUB!!!!
NO WAY LETS GO
Orange is indeed the best color
Cool as 🦆 man 😎
Are you playing a B-52's song @6:30? Either way that's a cool sounding riff! 😁👍🏼
The Fender locking tuners are the same price as Gotoh. They do make a cheaper set for 39 bucks. I think the Don't want the switch. I want the stock switches or better but the same lay out. Especially the out of phase sounds. The Vintera I'm told has the wrong bridge on it. Not sure if it is true but it was true enough for the luthier to buy a regular mustang bridge for it.
bro nice build but how did that guitar leave CME in that condition....
That ding on the stripe is enough to return it imo. Unacceptable.
1:30 funny, usually it gets messy after the nut...AY OH
you may have already known but ventera ii is out and there is a orange competition mustang set you back a thousand something
Yeah this video is from way before that was even announced, that guitar is definitely on my radar 😍😍
nice mod. definitely would have returned that ding or got money off though. BTW HDR makes this video wayy too bright on my mac
cool
Your hair is luscious bro
really been thinking of getting this guitar as my first electric. Do you think I should? I'm transferring from my acoustic btw.
Should work out, this guitar has a shorter scale length than standard electrics (24” rather than 25.5”) so it CAN be easier to play. However with that smaller scale length there is more string tension, and might not be great if you have big hands/longer fingers
It is a great guitar tho, so long as you get it professionally set up before playing, definitely worth that extra money for cheaper guitars like this. Also since you think it looks cool, it’ll give you more incentive to pick it up more often!
Why is the music demo portion only hanging out in the left ear?
Please make more guiatr vids
I had this ordered. Had to cancel it though. Orange is my favorite color. I do have the CAR CV model though. I have a lot of work done to that but some Seymour Duncan Antiquity Mustang pups for it.
I will say that American Fender guitars, aren't coming with better frets or nuts. Still glue coming out. Unseated frets. Nuts not cut properly. Lick of the draw but so many, and American, doesn't get your better QC really.
it seems like you were using a sony camera - the landscape swap happens and still can figure out why this happens. Just change the rotation in you editing program and enlarge to keep the whole video horizontal.
koyuki my beloved...
6:13 🤩💖
I’ve always wanted to throw a set of p90’s in one.
bro my favorite color is orange it looks so good😭
My dream guitar is also a mustang but in sonic blue color
Honestly, I just clicked for the thumbnail because of Necry Talkie. Their fronwoman Mossa uses a mustang of the same color although I'm unsure if it's the real deal or something like a partcaster.
Haven’t heard of them I’ll check them out!
Can't believe that ding
Do you know how many of these Guitar's in the Capri Orange they plan on making ?
There still two available on Chicago music exchange (these are exclusive to that store), and they’re both discounted so not for long, usually with these runs, after they’re discounted that means they’re about to be gone for good
Yeah. If you're confident to do a little bit of work that's a great deal on a classic Mustang.
