- Jack Alford follows in his dad's footsteps with a heart-pounding hunt from the ground on the opening day of the 2020 Illinois archery season. A cold front has the deer on their feet and Jack wastes no time sneaking into the same spot where Tommy killed a buck last December. The deer movement is early and often, but Jack waits until his target buck is within range before letting an arrow fly. Another great hunt and a great way to get 2020 off and running. Bowhunt or Die, baby!!
This is why we have to pass this on to our youth. That just made a memory that will live with him long after his dad is gone. And he can tell his kids. Pure genuine emotions, much better than any monster shot by a mainstream hunting show. Great job kid!

Im 12 im from West Virginia and 3-4 weeks ago I smoked a 130s eleven point with compoud it was my first buck with a bow but that is a dandy for a first buck congrats

Great video congrats on a great shot, this is a life long memory. I remember being with my son when he got his first 8-point buck in NY,. I now have my 11 year old daughter interested in the hunt.

I’m 11 I hunt with my compound I shot a deer the other day but it rained and we lost the blood trail so I didn’t get her sadly but I’m still going out trying to get another.Also I was hunting by myself so I’m pretty proud of my self but hopefully the lord gives me another chance at one.And congratulations dude

I love it, what great first deer. I got my finally got first archery buck last week after 6 years of vowing to not shoot another deer with a gun again. I'm 22 years old and have been hunting since I was 10 and my reaction was pretty much the same. In a couple of years, this boy will be giving everyone else on the team a run for their money.

Awesome video. My wife pointed out a tag on the deers leg, after the young man put his tag on the antler. Just out of curiosity, what was reason? I didn’t know the answer to her question when she asked why.

My fiat buck I shot for youth opener on are scout day for stand I shot a huge 12 point and he was looking out blood squirting out both sides it was awesome I feel him

I know this is bow hunting but I remember when I shot my first buck. I was 9 years old on Sunday November 11th 1990. I was using a 30/40 Krag. My dad was helping me to. Shot it at around 8 in the morning. By Many Point-Round Lake Minnesota in between Bemidji and Detroit Lakes. It was cold. Little 6 pointer.

Was about 35 yards. Probably would've clipped low lung, or only hit leg if he didn't drop.
We get up at 4:15 and go up the hill at 6:30 and get there at sun rise

I think I am lost but is a crossbow arrow Fletch same as a compound Arrow
They can be the same. But generally, crossbow arrows use longer fletchings and have little to no helical. Which means the vanes are glued on straight.
