+rd711 if you watched the full thing Laak really was running that hot, it was pretty hilarious. And he continues to run hot pretty much up until the final table, he won 3/4 heats.
I could rewatch this hand till I die. Everything was just perfect, the set up, format of playing, trash talk, players. Even Phil commentating, this is just pure gold
Love how Hellmuth is like “he just has to fold, nothing else to it” when Luke is talking at the end, as if Hellmuth wouldn’t blow every gasket in his brain if he were the one with QQ
V-CHIP, or VPIP, stands for "voluntarily put in pot" and is basically your calls and raises pre-flop, and steal attempts is when you raise from the BUTTON, CUT OFF, or SMALL BLIND when action is folded to you. They are stats to help you understand how aggressive someone is, also giving you an idea of their hand range. Very useful stats IMO...
Love hearing Hellmuth say 'He knows he's beat here, he just has to make the tough laydown and thats all there is to it'. He should cut that sound clip out of this video, buy a pair of Dr. Dre Beatz and blast that on a loop every time he plays poker from now on.
Gota love Phil H's sense of humor... "He does remind me a bit of my self" "wait a minute, theres a european Helmuth?" Its absolutly like watching Phil Helmuth having one of his tantrums :D
he has the hand that isnt aces, so ostensibly...he has aces. obviously he doesnt have kings. so its either aa,qq, or zilch. he basically has aces here.
@@mikecantreed Newbie here. So the way Schwartz is using the term "aces" means not only literally aces AA, but also KK and QQ? And JJ would not be called "aces", right? Is this a British thing because I haven't heard "Aces" used to mean anything other than AA.
@Howard Roark Then "like" my comment so that it gets pushed up and seen when people view this video!! Just kidding. I don't care. I mean, I'd like top know the answer but... I guess I have bigger issues to address in trying to learn this complicated game.

K7 offsuit is about 30% odds of beating QQ if you put the money in preflop. Schwarz is mad because calling any raises with K7 offsuit preflop is bad play, Laak was lucky his odds were that good, against most other hands Schwartz could have there he would be miles behind (AK for example crushes K7). Schwartz then made his bad luck even worse by betting too big on the river, you decide whether to call or not mostly based on pot odds (amount you have to pay vs amount you will win, and how often you will win in that spot to make the call worthwhile). Because Schwartz bet too big he was getting extremely good odds to call, but he knows Laak knows that, so he also knows Laak wouldn't have made the bet unless he was certain he had him beat and has to fold even though he's getting a good price to call. The rant is mostly because Laak is playing badly but because he's hitting his cards he still wins anyway 😬.
I've played enough poker to know there is one important rule that trumps all others- ask yourself "what is he calling with?" With that board I have a hard time thinking what worse hands than queens are calling? Another pocket pair I guess is it really
hellmuth is one of the best tourny players. his problem is his ego, if he didnt have his egotistical mentality he would be as loveable as he is here doing commentary.
That river bet by Schwartz makes literally zero sense. Like, he was just bombing the pot to bomb the pot, with no thought given to what the point of the bet was supposed to be. He bet so much that only a K or boat could call and then whines about his luck when his dumbass bet backfired.
I think my favorite part is that he goes off on a rant and lies about what he was holding. Any King had him beat (even if he *did* have pocket aces) he gets outplayed, and makes the correct fold on the river. Boo friggin' hoo.
People who chew gum were never properly weaned as a child. I played against a player just like this in Vegas recently. I shoved, he called. He had a set of kings, I had ace-queen, turn is a jack, and on the river, I hit a 10 hitting the gut-shot Broadway. I thought he was going to implode. In another hand, same situation as this; I was the short stack and flopped a full boat 3s/ks to his set. He's probably still having nightmares about the losses. But, to see him whine and lose was precious. "HE KEEPS HITTING THE FLOPS!! I've never seen such luck!" (implying I was cheating). I replied, "Dude, come on. I got no long sleeves. And nobody would hold a king/three." He just couldn't handle it.
Phil Laak, my favorite all time pro..lve his style and his hoodie look..i bring that with me usually when i play live..or i use to ..havent much had a hoodie lately playing poker though..and gotta always have the sunglasses too haha
Can someone explain why Hellmuth says Laak would not have checked on the turn if he only had a set? No flush was possible at that point, so I don’t get it.
