DO THE LIVE RECORDING!!!! I've listened to this track hundreds of times........and I still get a knot in my chest and tears in my eyes every time.
"Just a world that we all must share
Not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream there will be no more turning away"
@@paulwilkinson8347 😮💨 I remain hopeful...
I saw them perform it in Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, May 1988, and I remember wanting this song to go on forever and ever…❤
Absolutly.....better than studio version by far.
Absolutely 100% agree. The live version is incredible. ua-cam.com/video/xEMy34qhQe4/v-deo.htmlsi=uDHTcyRVAuLxZeAN
Every time I hear Roger Waters make his claim that Gilmour, Wright and Mason "contributed nothing to the group" I get physically angry.
Gilmore is PF. He is the voice. Yeah, Waters wrote a ton of the lyrics, but his voice and guitar skills could never compare. That's why he's so salty.
People can get agitated at me... but without BOTH, there'd be no Floyd
🎼There is nothing like David Gilmour’s guitar works. He gives me goosebumps. Love this song!☮️💟
Still always and to this day
Saw the concert for this. 11th row.
Dave was right there.
Bed came sceaming from the back of the stadium and crashed into the stage. So cool. Dosed to the max, i was.
Dude. Awesomeness
Yeah, that bed went on a journey before crashing -- was so cool at the concert -- I also saw them crash a propeller plane into the stage! 😊
i saw this tour in 88 and it was the first concert i'd been to sober...thanks to GHWB you couldnt find a joint in Detroit for 100 bucks.
@@FloridaRocks I was in Raleigh-Durham . It had rained and rained, the the show started and it stopped!
Drove from Memphis so I could be with about 7 of my buddies. I was in rx school the time lol
(I had the rainbow stash)
Lol... most people were at the time.
Live version is great as well!
Live to the Delicate Sound of Thunder concert 1988 - 1990 , it's great . 😎👍🎶🎶
I was there! Flawless
Yes, please do the live !! 🎸🎹🥁🎸🥁🎸🎶🔥👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
See the live version, Polo . Thanks for the reactions
I see Pink Floyd I Click. I see polo I like. My first listen too, Godbless.
I cry every time I listen to this song. It is poignant, direct, and necessary. Thank you for your videos. No more turning away.....!
Pink Floyd tapped into the fact we are all guilty of turning away beautifully and that strange feeling we all get on hearing this is the guilt trip they have ingeniously put us on. Superb!
Oh yeah, man- you'll love the Delicate Sound of Thunder Live version... even more anthemic. Enjoying your ride with Floyd, Zep and Tool seeing you see the light. Hi from Canada- Peace, love and bellbottoms.
Lyrics more relevant now than the day released. The performance is Top Shelf and a personal favorite. Glad you reacted to this one . 🤘
A great day for freedom by Pink Floyd
This is one of my personal favorites. It just resonates
One of the best live songs.
I love this song so much❤
Watching the back-up singers was one of the most exciting parts of the show. Good times.
Gilmour is one of the greatest ballad guitarists in history... His ability to turn a guitar into protesting human voices is unmatched. I'm blessed to have seen them in Syracuse NY live in 94
I was at that show as well!
@@kevinfredettte2191 I knew I recognized you! 🤣... The mirror ball was amazing
AGREED!! He is the GOAT for sure.
My favorite band EVER!!! This song gives me full body goosebumps EVERY SINGLE TIME!!
A beautiful classic!!!!!
Been waiting for this one...😎!!! POLO, I think that *little man* will jam out with you to this iconic song!!! 😏 The lyrics are just AMAZING!!!
"On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite in a silent accord
Using words, you will find, are strange
Mesmerised as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night....."
Polo, yes definitely have a look at the live version. I think with Pink Floyd, the live versions are generally the way to go.
You need to watch the whole wall movie
Definitely do the live version. Holy Cow! The backup singer really hits the tone at one point! OMG
Yes, please play the live version. It's gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous and I lost my copy!!!
Thank you, if I had to pick a favorite Floyd this would be it
Seriously, itf you get the chance, watch that live version from the Delicate Sound of Thunder tour. It's one of those rare moments where the live version surpasses the studio. Truly an amazing experience.
200% agree
Git to love some Floyd.
Live version is a must! Delicate sounds of thunder!
this is great live
Magnificent.
Loved Pink Floyd since I was 5. Most radio stations would generally play music from The Wall album. One local radio station had on Saturdays an entire hour dedicated to a particular artist from 3pm to 4pm. That is when I first heard this song in the summer of 87 hanging out with some friends at a local swimming hole from a Casio portable stereo that took 8 D batteries.
Been there did that happy times
Mine was a Panasonic that took 6 D batteries and sounded gorgeous with metal cassette tapes!
@@Cherokeelion Mine was a hand me down from an elder sibling. Had the twin cassette deck with the record function. Don't know how many friends cassettes I copied back in those days I got an old egg crate full of them the labels have worn off most of them but the cassette film is still in great condition. If I could get the right cables I could give them all a digital conversion. I've got the hardware just need a analog to digital audio converter with the appropriate PC interface connections/hardware. Any recommendations on ways to streamline such a process?
@@jasonswearingin1009 youre sitting on a classic gold mine haha! I do not unfortunately have any knowledge or recommendation on how you can go about that but boy would that be a fun thing to be able to do!
Such a beautiful song ❤
The live version is masterpiece
For me this goes hand in hand with "Comfortably Numb." For many of us we learn to survive the insanity by hardening our hearts, and that's a shame.
Looking back at this album it was very underrated at the time. I’m so glad I got to see them live on their last tour.
Alone after 43 years. Been listening to a lot of pink Floyd ❤ relating to comfortably numb 😢 grandma still not sleeping! Peace ✌️ Polo ❤
This song gives me goosebumps.
Scratching the surface. Haven't even gotten started.👽👍
Do the live version. Please. It is so much better. You can't imagine. Guaranteed goosebumps!!!❤
Yes! The live version of this is sublime ✨
This one has the feeling of Irish folk music beautiful the way it builds.
Thank you for sharing this song 💖
It just fills my heart seeing someone moved and appreciating the music that I grew up with. Thanks for carrying on this love of the new classical music which will live for many more generations! Peace!
How nice to hear from you. Happy for all of us for this incredible band. No compromise here. PINK FLOYD alone --- perhaps the best ever.
December 6th, 1987, Oakland Coliseum Arena... floor stage right, directly in front of the amazing background singers. The way they grooved and danced in unison... was pretty inspiring for a young 18 year old!!!
The bed crashing, pig, and really, simply an absolutely incredible show. On the Turning Away was also the last song I listened to before shipping of to bootcamp in 88. Not going to say anything about Gilmour which hasn't already been said, but when he locks in and soars, we are all better, happier, more at peace. Ride the live version, and be amazed.
I found PF at age 14. I am 67 now. Still my favorite. When I am really old, lol. And may have
Alzhimers, they will be one thing I remember. It is ingrained in my brain. Lol. Us and them is great. I love the horns in that...❤ 🕊
Pink floyd are masters of their ART, best group ever in my eyes. Thank you for this
My favourite Pink Floyd track of all time❤️
When it comes to most rock music, you just listen to it; with Pink Floyd, you experience it. They pull you into a colorful and detailed soundscape as well as a master cinematographer would.
Pure MAGIC! 😊
The live version is mind blowing.
Hey Polo , someday I hope you can do this live from The Delicate Sound Of Thunder concert. Mesmerizing. Great job as always. Great reaction channel. Have not seen any Floyd blocked.
Delicate sound of thunder is a great live concert. Dogs of war is one of my favorites
Live version is so good with a longer guitar solo.
Well put POLO! A human anthem. A call out for change ❤❤❤
I am of the Pink Floyd generation, but somehow I this is the first time I remember hearing this beautiful song. Thanks for playing it.
Possibly because it was part of the first album after Roger Waters left. I know a lot of Pink Floyd fans got turned off because of his departure. I grew up listening to The Wall, and wasn't into the music scene enough to know any of the details except that this was the first album from the band in a long time. I was not even a teenager yet, but the people around me and the radio stations played it enough for me to know it by heart. Their early stuff is great, but Momentary Lapse and Division Bell are standouts for me. And whenever I have to recreate my playlist, "Songs From and Inspired by..." of songs that feel like they are the soundtrack to my life, Learning to Fly is still the first track I add.
PF LIVE?!! Yes please! 😊
Listen to Delicate Sound of Thunder. You will not regret it!!
Great song and fantastic album. The album A Momentary Lapse of Reason came out September 1987 and the following year 1988 the tour was called the name of this album. It’s worth a dive into the complete album. I saw this concert tour 1988, they played over 3 hours and took a 30 minute intermission. One of my all time concert. Greats for the reaction.
Yes please! More Pink Floyd! David's guitar solos always impresses
You have got to hear/see the live version--life altering. So beautiful
YES!! Live version is amazing
A most excellent song. The lyrics (the message) always gives me chills.
"No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away?" Yes, watch the live video.
It’s get better every time you hear it!!
i loved the album from the very first song to the last...i saw them do this live before pulse concert, same lighting setup at wembley stadium (original) the played the whole album plus comfortably numb etc, it was brilliant, stunning, cannot be described. sorrow that is also on pulse is just amazing on the record or live!
You have to listen the live version of this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They did this very well on the Pulse tour
Absolutely. The live version closed out their first set in 87 and was a great showstopper.
Saw that tour... still hasn't been topped
Yeah, the live version is amazing!
I'm 55 and a Pink Floyd fan and have been since The Wall, when I was in 7th grade. It w was called Jr High back then.
I like this. Actually I think this is my first time too. I don't remember it. (I'm surprised myself)
It's beautiful. I'll have to listen again. I'm more captivated by the musical instruments. I really didn't catcth all the lyrics.
You caught an old lady off guard. This proves that you're never too old to learn something new.
❤PF live!!
Definitely looking forward to the live!!! Delicate sound of thunder concert solo is out of this world 🎉
One of the most beautiful guitar solos I’ve ever heard.
Listening to Pink Floyd. Always, exacerbates whatever’s in my head. Travel music without really going anywhere 😮
Eyes slowly close… the universal identifier of a Pink Floyd fan.
Hi Polo, Yes you should see this live💯 ❤ I was blessed to see Pink Floyd 11th roll on my 25 th Birthday one of the best time's in my life 😅 They are MASTERS OF THERE MUSIC 🇺🇲🎸💯🌟🦾👍🥁📀🎹🔦🎵👑🥰🙏🌈✌️😻 Thank you ❤ Love your channel and reactions and you ❤ Rock on and Rock hard 🤘🎧👍🦾💯🇺🇲
This song...... This song hurts my feelings AND raises my hopes at the exact same time....
This song hits you in the heart❤
I was 13 when this album came out, and it was my gateway into Pink Floyd.
In a world once again divided, this song is like the Light of Earendil.... a beacon in the darkest night.
Amazing 🔥 Gilmore and the crew just giving us tremendous gifts. Saweet!
Phenomenal Song! ♥️🕊️🙏
Live is just next level, must see seriously
The Pulse live version is a must. A MUST. It's such a great performance.
I've listened to this tune probably hundreds of times. I guess I'll listen again right now. Hope you enjoy.
Exactly the song I wanted you to experience! Such a powerful message!!! ❤
Pink Floyd=Always the live version.
The vibe from his singing style gives me Irish folk.
Live.. Watch the live pulse performance.. Watching Mr Gilmour 'play' that guitar, as you listen to it, is amazing!
David Gilmour's 3rd best solo imo, behind only Hey You and Comfortably Numb. A classic.
Pulse concert incredible 😊😊😊😊
Yup!!! Live vid please
I'll never forget the bed streaking across the arena from up high .. crashing into the stage with an explosion of sparks and laser lights... good times ....
Yes please, play the origional.
I love this song. Often overlooked
The year this album came out was my senior year of high school. This one and Big Generator by Yes were my 2 favorites that year.
Great song. Live version is even better believe it or not. Definitely give it listen and look!
This song and Learning To Fly are lyrically so full of imagery. They are my 2 favorite PF songs.
One of the best PF songs! Still gives me chills. I remember as the day of yesterday, me standing there at a PF concert, playing this song and I was as frozen, it hits me right into my heart, and I cried, those words, and that solo!!! Watch also the live version!
