    Once the national training facility gets built it should help with this

    We need talent and we need motivated players. A while back, we didn’t have much talent but had motivated players. Then we had more talent but seemingly lacked motivation under Berhalter. (To his credit, he did recruit some good Dual Nationals).
    I think Poch was speaking to the motivation piece. Hopefully he objectively evaluates the talent piece and recognizes we always want the best talent that is motivated to play for USA. 🇺🇸🙏🏽

    For the Jedi vs Brown folks, it should be noted that Brown has been playing in the attack of late. He would certainly get minutes in the attack for the US.

      One thing that Poch has already showed is that he’s capable of moving players around and trying different things. I trust him enough as a tactician to fit both Jedi and Brown in the team.

    Not even a conversation imo. It’s not that the usmnt NEEDS dual-nats, it’s simply that most soccer players in the country ARE dual-nats. So, I ask, should we really spend that time recruiting everyone?
    I’d much rather the focus be on those who actually WANT to be a part of the project, and there are plenty of dual-nats in this category to worry about, than there are those in the other.
    Do we know for a fact that a “no-recruitment” approach is what’s happening here? Hell even our most beloved dual-nats aren’t here because the coach “recruited” them. Johnny, Balo,Musah, for example, are here because of others on the board, not the coaches recruitment. Poch’s job isn’t recruiting maybe’s, it’s coaching the first-team.
    Love the content tho yall

      It’s sad that the US has to recruit the world’s cast offs into the USMNT, but where else can they find players? The MLS is incapable of producing decent home grown players.

      You bring up a good point, USSF is also failing at their job to recruit. From what we’ve heard, these guys haven’t been contacted since Poch took over. Definitely agree that we don’t want players who have no patriotism representing us, but it doesn’t hurt to put out some feelers and see how open they are to the idea.

    Poch's mindset makes sense in the context of him being Argentine but obviously it doesn't make sense for us and this team. The people who care about where a potential USMNT player grew up and his background are the same kind of people who were skeptical about hiring Poch in the first place. He doesn't need to beg young prospects but he still needs to decouple his opinion from the Argentine way of doing things if he wants the most amount of success possible.

    • @AMERICANULTRASTALK
      @AMERICANULTRASTALK  3 дні тому

      He’s going to need to learn how to be a USMNT manager. At the end of the day success on the pitch matters most, but it’s also important to set up the program for the future, which he doesn’t seem to be doing.

    I don't think we should beg players to play for the US, but there is no harm in reaching out to duel Nats to introduce them to our program. A lot of players just want to be wanted.

    You just answered your own question on Nathaniel Brown… he can’t start over Jedi. He might be able to push Mittelstadt.
    I swear people that want to see Koleosho don’t actually watch him play. Not better than Weah, and it’s not even close.
    Anrie Chase could probably push to be in our lineup. But that’s just it, he could push McKenzie, Richards, trusty, CCV, etc., but I’m not convinced he walks right in and starts. And clearly, neither is he.
    No doubt, dual nats have been a big part of filling out our team over the years. Claudio Reyna, Tab Ramos, Jermaine Jones, all started in world cups. But again, that’s the point here: most of these names being thrown around aren’t walking in and starting right away. So they don’t want to hear it. And if their only condition for putting on the US jersey is “I want to start right away,” then Poch is absolutely correct. We don’t need you.

      @@ozukabeats2456I’m not against dual nats. I’m against recruiting dual nats that are depth pieces that don’t have a clear desire to play for the US. I LOVE Jedi, Dest, Musah, Balogun, Pepi, and they certainly aren’t unique.
      Zendejas is a good example of a depth guy who clearly wants to play for the US. Love it!
      Also, it’s the US; most of our guys have other passports. 40% of our country are eligible for dual citizenship. Look it up. Braden and Yuri are correct in saying this is a strength of our country and federation, and one that we have captitalized… and should continue to capitalize on!
      All I’m saying is that the current players that we are talking about do not move the needle at the top of the depth chart. If they want to come be part of the team, and fight for a spot, come on over. If you want to be guaranteed a spot in the lineup…. Sorry, these guys aren’t that good.

    • @AMERICANULTRASTALK
      @AMERICANULTRASTALK  3 дні тому +1

      Definitely get what you’re trying to say here, and for the record we both think Koleosho is overrated. The main reason we think it’s so important to get these guys in particular is because for whatever reason, there hasn’t been much of a breakthrough from younger players into the national team of late. These guys are 21 (Brown) and 20 (Chase/Koleosho) and already good enough to make our roster, they’re only going to get better over the next decade.

    Poch is the first coach, since Bora, who had not spent a lot of time in the US where recruiting is an ingrained part of the sporting culture. Bering proactive with prospects. Making constant contact with prospects. Providing assistance, like helping to break down film from club matches. Even meeting the parents. These are some of the things that previous coaches have done to seal the deal. It looks like Poch isn't going to be doing these things. It is what it is. We have 18 months. He's on a short-term deal. We could always use high-level talents, like Brown and Chase. But Poch is not here for that.

    • @AMERICANULTRASTALK
      @AMERICANULTRASTALK  3 дні тому

      I don’t think it’s a coincidence that both of those managers come from very nationalistic countries. It’s a different ideology and I get that, but they have to adapt when managing a country as unique as ours. At the end of the day, if he gets good results when it matters that’s all we ask for, but setting us up for a brighter future is important too.

  • @dixoncider8372

    I would say that maybe with Pochettino it is the time to distance themselves from being reliant on dual nationals and to just tap in to the abilities of the team with the right coach to unlock said potential

    • @AMERICANULTRASTALK
      @AMERICANULTRASTALK  4 дні тому

      I understand that perspective, but the reality is that dual nationals are always going to be there and right now they have the advantage of developing in better academies. If Poch can make us better in the short term that’s great, but if we want to better the future of the sport in our country (and do it without dual nats), the focus should be on improving the academy system here.

    I doubt that Brown will get a senior Germany call up this season to be honest as he will probably play at the U21 Euros in the summer. Makes no sense cause he's defenitely better than Mittelstädt but the DFB really prioritizes the U21s for some reason.

    • @AMERICANULTRASTALK
      @AMERICANULTRASTALK  4 дні тому

      Appreciate your insight! To my knowledge there’s no rule stopping a player from playing with youth levels after playing for the senior team, so if Nagelsmann thinks Brown is ready he could give him a chance in March and he could still play for the U21s in the summer. For what it’s worth, I don’t think there’s much of a chance that he picks the USA.

      @@AMERICANULTRASTALK In general, Nagelsmann trusts his team from the Euros a lot, in that case Raum and Mittelstädt, and anyone else would have to do extra well to break in, that's why even someone like Adeyemi is still stuck in the U21s. I might be wrong though. But I also think he will end up with Germany in the end. Really like your videos by the way, keep it up guys!

    I think "recruiting" dual nats is a band aid that hides a deep rot in American soccer. I think looking holistically at the anemic growth of MLS since the apple years, the amount of dual nats in our starting eleven that were developed overseas, and the weak attendance at our national team games all show's we're stagnating as a program/soccer nation. I think MLS and USL should be pushing as hard as possible to be on normal tv channels (mostly looking at the idiotic apple deal MLS made), US soccer needs to coordinate youth soccer even better and mitigate as much as possible pay to play., and US soccer should be damn near giving away tickets to pack out NFL and big college stadiums. I see the huge potential of the growth of soccer in our nation being squandered and reliance on foreign developed dual nats will just hide the problem even further.
    I will say in the immediate short term of the 2026 world cup sure recruit and beg borrow and steal our way to the best possible result, but after the WC we need to be going all out to grow passion for the game in the US and for our own national team. Being a rah-rah american I believe we can be the best in whatever we put our mind into and soccer can be no different if we just focus on growth instead of bleeding ever penny of profit we can.

      I definitely agree with what you’re saying, but that’s a whole different conversation entirely. Would be a good video idea, we might have to do that in the future. I still think dual nats will have an important part to play in our program regardless of how good our development gets, that’s just the culture of our country.
