- New Orleans native Charlie Andrews demonstrates how to make an apple cinnamon ooey gooey cake. Gooey Butter cake is a flat dense cake that originated in St. Louis Missouri. It originally consists of a yellow cake mix style crust with a rich cream cheese topping. This version is similar to the original. It consists of a spice cake crust with an apple cinnamon cream cheese topping. This recipe calls for 12 to 15 servings. It's rich, full of apples and cinnamon and it is delicious. Hope you all will give this classic cake a try.

It was tasty but the biggest feedback I received was it needed more apples and for me to omit the almond extract. I admit since the name says apple cake, I thought it would have more of an apple flavor. Nothing bad to St. Louis, just my family's preferences. Thank you again.
