You realize that Tom went through a lot of pain during this tour. It was amazing what he accomplished during his lifetime. If only we could all be so lucky... and talented !
We were there ! I remember the rain delay and they came back and played "Swingin''. We flew all over the county to see him 5 times that year . This was one of the best nights . Thanks for posting this !
Thanks so much for sacrificing your chance to fully enjoy the show in the moment in favor of recording an amazing show for the rest of us to enjoy in posterity. I'd give this video five likes if I could.
when he can't hear himself and the piano player covers for him, and it becomes down the road a piece and then he stops them and counts in "oh carol" .... i am telling you, that is full on greatness on ever level. they could not hear that. they trusted themselves. they wont make bands like that again.
When I saw Tom Petty he brought the Black Crowes along to open. The Crowes were amazing, but when Petty took the stage and began playing, you can feel it was just on another level. Every song, lyric, and note seemed polished. I'm pretty sure I've seen every classic rock band live ...The Who, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Bad Co , Stones, Queen , Kiss, Thin Lizzy, Nugent, Skynyrd....all but Hendrix and Clapton. None wrapped it all together live like Petty. Miss this guy
@@bryonkidder6199 I have to take hydrocodone. Sometimes even it doesn't work. Yes you can feel pain. Don't kid yourself. So trust me also. Peace and blessings. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving. Gail in Central Florida. Thursday, November 24, 2022
@@gailremp8389 there's a huge difference between hydrocodone and Roxy 30's...lol They are like a little bitty blue magic pill, they do take ALL your pain away. You're just not on the right drugs yet!
@@bryonkidder6199 I don't need not to feel any pain. I'm doing fine. But I understand where you're going with it. All good. Not everyone wants to be drugged beyond effing redemption. Just a little drugged not shit load drugged hope you had a good Thanksgiving. Smile...😎
I liked seeing the glimpses of crowd demographics, actually -- gave a nice sense of how their appeal transcended generations. Also being able to see that cliff face was super cool.
Well..if he just concentrated on TP and the Heartbreakers instead of the audience you would've complained that he didn't have enough shots of the audience. Either way a person does something for UA-cam and it seems it's never perfect for someone else. So you don't have to watch this. No one's glued your eyes open so that you have to watch this. Pass on it... go watch another video. Problem solved. Wasn't that easy?
even Mike said the same thing he's like man we should have just called and quits and times like nope 40 years we just get this tour done and then head for the surgeon... unfortunately had time opted to fix the broken hip he might have been with us still instead of medicating with all the other stuff and ending up accidentally overdosing
He was high! That's why you're not supposed to drive while you're on prescription pain medication. I'm not saying anything bad against him but it is what it is, in his mind, he was floating on cloud 9...lol You could tell he was smashed in the first minute of the video, I didn't know he was that far into the pills at the time. One dose of Narcan would've saved his life, I'm shocked nobody had it around because they all knew he was on opiods!
@@bryonkidder6199 soooooo f’n true WHY didn’t anyone have the narcan? It’s so uncomfortable, sad, and unsettling to watch this particular show. Shows how brilliant/ well seasoned they all were to cover him and through this show. Poor Tom. All for us

I don't know the full story on his infirmity. He looks like a man in pain and the effects of opoide meds. Those meds helped end his life. Wet. Cold. Rainy. Nasty nasty weather. And he just keeps going. Because that's what he wanted to do.

With hindsight the band should have refused to perform and that would have allowed him to go for an operation
Not the best sound quality...just saying.
Tom was having a lot of trouble.
