Ah, I ADORED Lonely Castle in the Mirror! It was one of my favourite reads last year and I still think about it regularly. It’s a beautiful, sad, and very poignant read. Plus it made me cry 😳 I’ve owned Jade City for quite a while now and still not picked it up, although I’m not sure why. Bones of Faerie sounds incredible! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this and all the others 🤗📚
📚 a book haul weekend is a good weekend ! Watching book haul videos always makes me want to wander into a bookshop and see what I find, like a treasure chest!
Creepy earthy books is something I am into, but I have also seen a list online of cottagegore books that could lean into what you are looking for here. And honestly, I am one of the people that likes the aesthetics thing that have been going on lately, and I love discovering new ones and seeing what music and artists and movies people associate with each one. This one is less popular but as someone who loves gothic in green settings, it definitely leans towards what I like seeing.
I really loved the secret history of witches. It's a generational story and I liked how different characters felt about their magic and ancestry. I also loved the other two witchy books by this author! ❤
I read the netgalley ARC for A Taste of Gold and Iron and it was SO GOOD, it's a real slow burn romance with a background plot to stick all the tropes on and ugh it was everything I want in a fantasy romance tbh!! 📚
There is nothing better than a good book haul- these are some interesting sounding books Ashleigh I hope you enjoy all the reads. I'm hoping to get to Jade City soon as well. 📚💕
📚I have read the Lost Apothecary, I am curious to see what you think, not my favorite ever, not bad, just not wow. Curious about the faerie book! Hope it amazing. Thanks for the video.
I have not read Bones of the Faerie but my mother owns the entire trilogy, and it is on my series tbr. There are plenty of books that aren't discussed on places like booktube, and it is always nice to see when something like this shows up.
The Lost Apothecary is not straight up Historical fiction. There are 2 timelines. One in the past concerning the lady apothecary and the woman who wants to get rid of her spouse like as you said, but there is also a present timeline as well. I enjoyed this book. I LOVE the cover. I gave this 4 stars!!
I read Bones of Faerie long ago and I only vaguely remember the plot in the first book but I do remember it was quite the spooky atmospheric read and enjoying it. I found a thrifted copy of the second book in the trilogy recently and grabbed it.
The Lost Apothecary definitely has an interesting premise but unfortunately the story itself fell short for me at 2 stars. Hope you enjoy it more than I did 😬
You might like the Fairyland series by Catherynne M. Valente! A bit more whimsical than creepy but definitely some creepy vibes. They're pretty similar to Alice in Wonderland 😊
I’ve seen the second book in this series (bones of faerie) on book outlet- the called faerie winter but unfortunately the paperback edition doesn’t match the first abs third in the series. So annoying! I hate when publishers do this.
If you haven’t read it already, I’d really recommend Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman for a witchy book! I really enjoyed it and it’s got good Summer vibes I think!
I hope you see this comment: please check out Thorn Jack by Katherine Harbour.. it’s an amazing, underrated series that perfectly fits fantastical or whimsical but also creepy.. I think you’d love it!
For a simple and helpful magic practice, I have also appreciated a mini e-tutorial written by Regina del Graal. Check on yt: " Easy magic for modern witches, fairies and wizards"

Great video, I hope you enjoy these books! I have The Lost Apothecary on my TBR so can’t wait to hear your thoughts 😀
Lonely castle in the mirror sounds absolutely beautiful! And we all love a good bookhaul hahahaha
I love creepy fairytale vibes. House of Salt and Sorrow invoked that feeling in me and I've been chasing it since.
Her newer book 'Small Favors' has those vibes too,..... And better! 😍
Lost apothecary is really good and so is blood and poison

The Lost Apothecary is sooo good! It’s a split narrative from modern day to the late 1700s. Soooo good!
There is nothing better than a good book haul- these are some interesting sounding books Ashleigh I hope you enjoy all the reads. I'm hoping to get to Jade City soon as well. 📚💕

The movie for the hating game was so cute.
📚📖📚📖 portrait of a thief sounds good to me as does Lonely Castle in the Mirror.
Omg I thought A Taste of Gold and Iron sounded interesting and then I realised it sounded familiar and then I realised I have it preordered lmao. 📚
📚 what a lovely haul. The creepy woodsy books, I need more of them as well =)
Bones of Faerie sounds amazing!🌿xx

The lost apothecary is a good read
I want to get Castle in the Mirror so much! 📚
Never heard of a taste of gold iron but it sounds interesting!
I’ve seen the second book in this series (bones of faerie) on book outlet- the called faerie winter but unfortunately the paperback edition doesn’t match the first abs third in the series. So annoying! I hate when publishers do this.
I didn't love A Secret History of Witches or The Lost Apothecary, they were ok but not brilliant. Like the sound of Blood to Poison. 📚
Jade city is really great it totally reminds me of the godfather
Where is this shorter necklace from??
📚📚📚first! Always love your videos Ahleigh! I was personally a bit lukewarm about the Lost Apothecary but would love to hear your thoughts about it.
Love a good book haul! 📚

I really enjoyed A Secret History of Witches. The Lost Apothecary was a big disappointment.

Portrait of a thief was a DNF.
