I live in Chicago land and I've had people ask me why I don't move somewhere warm, like California or Florida. I have an Uncle who lives in the desert of Yuma, AZ. Everyone's dashboards on their cars are crumbling from the intense heat that comes through the windscreen. My brother lives in Rancho de Taos, NM and my sister lives in the desert of Henderson, NV. I happen to love living in Chicago. The changing of seasons is wonderful and energizing. Trees budding, birds singing, and the scent of blossoms in the air, just can't be properly appreciated, unless you have been through a long, dark, bitter cold Chicago winter. The blue sunny skies and crisp cool fresh air of autumn here, is especially sweet after the dog days of one of our oppressive lb hot & humid summers. Plus with the wonderful Great Lakes on our doorstep, fresh sweet water is just outside our doorstep! I live in Illinois and often backpack or fish in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Minnesota or Wisconsin. It's great to be here at The Great Lakes! 😊
The footage of that Witchcraft Market makes me excited for the medieval market I'm gonna go to in a few weeks. So glad these events are slowly starting up again! ☀
not sure if it would be entirely up your alley because it's kind of a more dense read, but one of the most interesting books i've ever read that touches on the witch trials in Europe and America is Caliban and the Witch by Silvia Federici. It's a nonfiction about the persecution of women from the witch trials to present day, and the relationship between female persecution, puritanical beliefs, and capitalism. Super interesting, but it is a more "academic" book (at least I found it to be when I read it a few years ago). I think about the concepts and comparisons in it at least monthly, if not more often.
Awww, a friend of mine was selling stickers at the Witch Market and seeing her table in your footage for a second felt a little like two worlds colliding. Such a lovely vlog. ☀
🌞🌞🌞 I KNEW there was a reason I love you!!! I am a Witch living in the USA. I have been a practicing Witch now for about 20 years now. Tigers Eye is one of my favorite protection stones! You totally made me buy a beautiful tigers eye and citrine pendant from EBay just now … Not that I don’t have enough tigers Eye pendants already! Blessed be!
Revelation 9 20And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: 21Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
You made me so exited about witchy books! Somehow, I haven't read any in a while, but now I'm going to check out the witchy books I still have on my shelves ☀️
I love this video, it's so soothing I've watched it a good 6 or 7 times now because it just relaxes me 😌 and you've definitely inspired me to head back to Edinburgh for the next seasonal festival! Thank you for creating such beautiful witchy content 💕
Hi Ashleigh, thank you so much for this awesome video and for taking us to the witchy markets with you. I 'm so jealous of the trunk you found, we would never find anything like that whete I live. 🌞
It is October 26th today and I just saw your vlog for the first time. I enjoyed it immensely and an very happy to have found you. Witchy books are the thing I have been searching for so now I have a fount of knowledge. Thank you and I will be watching more of your vlogs. Take care of you.🧙
That witchy market looks amazing. I too have gotten into the mood for witchy reads but I have so many different kinds of books to read right now so I don't know what is going on there. I think I may be picking up The Ravens sometime soon. I don't know, maybe after I read Scarecrow., an anthology edited by Rhonda Parrish which is about scarecrows (I think you should look into this editor because she has a series of anthologies about corvids, fae, sirens and more. Maybe she may even come out with a witch one) which is the next read I have lined up after The Inheritance of Orquidea Divina. I did read Toil and Trouble: 15 stories of women and witchcraft and I loved it. Not all the stories were fantastic, but most were.
So glad your enjoying The Diviners, I loved the atmosphere and setting of the book, I need to continue with the series, those editions are sooo gorgeous. The Witch market looks amazing!
I just finished The Witches of New York and thoroughly enjoyed the vibe, and the accurate representation of the teas, herbs, and spells used in the story. I read The Diviners last September and loved it. Looking forward to carrying on with the series this year. And I'm currently reading In Defense of Witches by Chollet. I'm enjoying it but it's not really about witches as much as it's about women and how being accused of or identifying with being a witch is part of how women have or do not have power in our society and how our culture keeps misogyny alive and in control.
I also need to sort my own head out every day before I deal with other people particularly at work, so I love getting up early and preparing for the day 😊 I’m excited to read Hex!
I need to read Ami McKay! My mom is not a big reader at all but she will always read her books. I remember her absolutely loving The Witches of New York!
Hi, I would just like to say how much i enjoyed this vlog. I'm not a reader at all but i do love your witchy vlogs and content. I hope you are feeling better in yourself and the lovely sunshine has helped. xx
I wish my town had a witchcraft market ): it looks so beautiful and fun! I would be there for hours. Sadly, I'm closeted, so even if I found one near me I wouldn't be able to go. Loved the haul though! You have a good taste
I’m interested in reading Hex and I am a historian. I’ve watched videos about the North Berwick witch trials. I’m shocked how people could falsely accuse women of witchcraft.
Gurrrrlll, if you haven’t read Hex by Thomas Olde Heuvelt, you should give it a look. It’s about a witch, originally written in Dutch, and so HEAVY on atmosphere that I wish I had read it in October. My favorite book so far this year. I thought of you when I finished it.
Hello, I have been in a Rehabilitation center for 3 years, and am wondering if you have any suggestions for videos I could watch about witches (nonfiction or fiction.) The best one I have seen so far is "Suspiria." Another good one is Vincent Price in "Witchfinder General" or "The Conqueror Worm." "Three Sovereigns for Sarah" is another excellent one. But I'm always on the lookout for one I have not seen before. Have a nice day!🙂
I'm currently reading The Witches of NY and it's so good! I too love the writing, it makes me feel like I'm there. Your review makes me more excited about the rest of it. I'm obsessed with your rings btw.☀️
The one marked as book 2 on goodreads is a novella for the same characters ☺️ but she does have another I believe called the virgin cure that features on of the characters in her early days
@cThroughFiction Why would you want to read more which are set in worlds with no magic and which focus so much on villains like Hopkins? To read about actual witches, I can recommend The Furies by Katie Lowe - it concerns four wicked witches. They're all wicked to the core from the start and never change. Another is Morgan is My Name by Sophie Keetch. It is the beginning of a trilogy about Morgan le Fay in which she starts out as a woman of integrity. It promises to be the beginning of an epic character arc. How will she become a witch who terrorises a kingdom?
@@AFrolicThroughFiction aw thanks so much. I haven't heard of dixi but I'll check it out 😊. I'm from Ireland you'd be surprised how few good markets we have here I'd love more . If you can recommend any shops or anything please do. I love doing business with small businesses ha that sounds funny 😁. Anyways thanks for taking the time to reply to my messages very kind of you. Have a lovely evening 📚🗝💜🕯🎃

Please stop referring to artists, makers and crafters as vendors. ‘Vendor/s’ is just a industry word that has caught on. Referring to them as such ,minimizes and belittles what the actual do. A vendor could be a hot dog seller or someone at a flea market.
