  • James Oliver has only just turned 30 and has already amassed more than 2,500 gigs! He literally lives to gig and play guitar. Just back from his first US tour, James is already planning his return, planning to include New York next time around. He’s also working on opening opportunities in Japan, amongst other places. He’s a massive fan of 50’s Rock & Roll and Rockabilly but also picked up the 2020, UK Blues Emerging Artist Award. Talking of guitars, James owns three Dearnaley Telecasters, so it seemed appropriate to head back to Moto Music where ‘Dearnaley Guitars" adorn the walls, to sit on the settee for a chat with KCL’s Steve Johnson.

(25.07.2023) Came across The James Oliver Band on a gig poster at Earl Haig. As I'd also seen the band name on the EH facebook site, I thought I'd Google them (him) to see if it was worth a trip out. Found him on UA-cam at the Bristol Blues Club, and was totally blown away. I told a mate of mine who loves live music as I do. We have got to see this band live. This vid confirms what a fantastic musician and all round character this man is.

I met Scotty Moore when he was promoting his book in Philly. He was at Tower Books on South Street. I called up Bluebond Guitars, near by, and mentioned him. They didn't come over so I was the only one there. Got to ask him all sort of questions. Hard to believe that someone so influential was ignored by the public.

It's gonna be hard to visit David Lindley since he died. I had breakfast with him once. Check out Al Anderson, now solo, but of Wildweed and NRBQ fame.

Put them in a Nudie sequin suit or get him some decent clothes, he is a savant on the guitar, but it's called Show Business for a reason.
