- Today we look at the Fireball Tool hex key and holders. I would like to add that I've had the tall stand set stuck to the top of my tool box in the back of my truck for a couple of weeks now and they have not falling off yet.

The clamps that fireball tools sales are awesome! I haven’t used the squares, but without a doubt they are going to be incredible when I can get to using them.
I have a set of the aluminum holders. They came with the bondhus keys. They are the best holders I’ve ever used. I will never go back.
These rock! All my keys always fall out of my old plastic holder.
I received a set for Christmas this year. I thought they were going to be stupid, but I was so wrong. Mine are aluminum and are the best holders I’ve ever used. Just get a set and thank me later.
I prefer the Wiha Ergostars. They don't take up so much space.

Gotta love all of those creators! Jason puts a lot of thoughts into his tools. I have a set of the magnetic shims and the minion squares. The quality is awesome.

“Accessibility”
That alone sells me on these. The flat profile of the standard is great for storage, and then you have to twist and/or remove five to get to the one you want. Glad you reviewed for sure, never thought about it or knew these existed.
When you are working it is not so much the 5-10 seconds getting out the one you want it is the frustration. Round racks have been around for some time but they didn't hold the keys in. These seem pretty cool and beat a bag too.
Fireball tool has some crazy awesome tools.
It took me forever to find the original design for these because the spring actually holds them in place this is a copy/ update and added stand magnets etc. but ronco made the original. Not sure it’s made anymore. Which sucks because they work great. Glad fireball started making them just in case I need one
I bought this set exactly how you did... two of each. The taller stand magnet really holds onto things, and it is nice to place it under the hood or on a vise while you're working and have them stay put so that you can retrieve the tools with one greasy hand, as well as not be easily knocked over. The smaller puck is just so-so, but much better than the standard holders. For viewers who do any welding, the Fireball squares (especially the magic square and mega square) are 100% worth every penny spent. They are very versatile and make clamping tasks fast and easy.
Mr. Funk, can you do a series of videos about industrial safety?
I work in a factory with giant forklifts (Track mobiles included), 40 ton cranes, and giant saws (chainsaws attached to forklifts, hydraulic press saws, and giant "Indiana Jones" style circular saws that only the penitent man will survive.
I showed a few of your "shorts" videos to our safety manager and he was absolutely cracking up and had never seen the shit you're showing in these videos.
You have so many common sense videos that have a huge educational value.
Just sayin, I have learned so much from your content.
I was actually thinking about doing long format videos reacting to “fail” videos. I have to leave a lot out when I only have 1 minute.
@@FunkFPV Do it! You could start a side channel for industrial safety videos that are straight to the point and have that "C'mon man."/ "There ya go." type vibe!
You could also make "There Ya Go - Safety Toolbox: Forklifts"
You're very observant and you make great points quickly on why something is dangerous/stupid.
Hell, you could even start making long form videos about the worst safety violations in history and just comment on the situations that led to the OSHA standards that had to be created.

I have the tall plastic set for about two months now mounted sideways in my toolbox. They have never fallen off or fallen out.

That’s the exact path of channels I took. The first you tube video I ever clicked on was AvE’s video on 2 stroke engines, and that was the beginning of the end for cable television.
I only watch cable tv these days to fall asleep 😜

I don't know what kind of arrangement if any is between Fireball and Abom...but I have been at UA-cam events where they both have been. I can tell you than Adam and Jason are both very nice, personable, helpful, and all around great guys. I have purchased several of the Fireball squares and plan to buy more and eventually get one of his welding tables. I have been researching all the different fixture tables available and am convinced that the Fireball is the best.

I also hated the traditional allen wrench holders and love Jason's holders but recently been in love with the wiha allen key holders where it's somehow geared so when you turn one all of them turn. Give them a try i think you'll like them. Also they are coloured and visible in the dark 😊
Abom79 and Fireball Tools are great channels. I've learned quite a bit from watching them.
5:33 you know, I was actually halfway expecting them to have recessed the base a bit to accommodate the ball-end. That was have been perfect, but I can understand why they didn’t.

Maybe I should look into those sets, was rebuilding an outboard carb. today and all my half missing sets are in a plastic tub I dump out to hopefully find the right size 😵💫

Those are sick. I'm a technician in a Continental Tire Plant, and work with LOTS of hex head bolts, almost exclusively. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you do, you are a good guy and I'd be honored if you came down and worked on a forklift (some of our guys are morons)

Would love to see how these do in the field. In my line of work, im always using my keys, constantly going in and out of my bag, be curious how they stand up to daily use.
i feel the short holders are to hold the short end of the alan key so although wider surface area covered its a lower profile for maybe a tool drawer. thats the only way i see the magnet working on the small holder.
I’ve wanted that vice since they released it, but I’m not cute enough to get presents. Overall pretty great tools at Fireball.

for me, Allen keys are the go-to 90% of the time. Wiha Ergostar sets have treated me the best by far, but I like the fireball holder approach a lot. accessibility looks really good. I think most keys get lost bc they’re just as much of a pain to get back in, as getting out 😅

I got a set of (I think) wera jeys last year the are in the two row lay flat format, but have a drive belt or similar inside, rotate one, they all turn, very easy to get them out, but minimal volume in the tool box. Naturally, that set "evaporated" pretty soon after I bought it
I inherited a bunch of the metal bondhus and eklind smaller flatter ones from a old machine shop where people lost the most common sizes. It does have the issue of becoming a sharp lego if you step on it and the smallest keys can get bent but worlds better than what they give you now and I'm glad someone's bringing it back since I haven't seen thoes old companies sell them with that style in 8 10 years? Longer...

A suggestion to Fireball tools would be to put a larger washer shaped magnet in the body.
It would hold down the base and retain the tools.

The magnetic base is kinda cool for a shop setting but a tool bag, I don't see it. I think I like the holder they came in better. To each their own.
He might just sell the set with the original holder. Amazon basics has the same hold in a different color.

I've had such a plastic holder without the magnet (with hex keys) for many years and it was old when I got it. The only marking on it is RONCO. I am guessing it's the old as-seen-on-tv pocket fisherman Ronco but it could be some other company.
Of course being so old there's no patent issues in copying it. It's fair game at this point but it's not a new idea to have a ring with a spring to hold allen keys.
Nice review. Not a product for me as I'm just a mechanical engineer, who (unfortunately) rarely sets foot in the shop let alone gets some grease on his hands. The guy that designs stuff that requires you to occasionally shorten your wrench when you need to work on something 😮.

I love those things, but they don't fit in my allen wrench drawer. And I'm too OCD to move them to a drawer that has space lol.

For the compact one it seems like it would make more sense for the spring to be closer to the bottom so it could grab onto the notch of the ball end.
my problem with holders is after carrying them for months, they get sloppy and spill their wrenches. your review misses this KEY aspect

Has anyone had these for long periods of time. I don’t mind the rubber or plastic cases that come with a cheap set. My issue is the rubber/plastic wears out or loosens then the wrench falls out. This means the most commonly used gets lost. Then I have to buy a whole new set. I don’t know how many sets I’ve thrown away. The spring retention looks much better but was just curious if anyone had used them for a while
I’ve had mine set for 2 years now with no issues. I just need to get more to replace my other dumb plastic holders.

Looks to me like it would better to put a nice magnet on the chinesium holder the hex keys come with.

Meh, I'm not seeing the improvement. I guess I could see if you wanted something next to your mill or your lathe and wanted it to stay upright and be accessible...but frankly, I'd just drill some holes in a 2x4 for that scenario. To each their own I guess. Love the content!
The Aluminum version is so nice. The keys slide out like a bolt action rifle. Definitely not a gimmick.
Throw the Allen keys in the bucket , put it in the trailer , call it a day
They should design the machines that have all bolts with different hexes, so this stuff has lot of use
That’s a Hyster forklift. I use more different tools types of tools working on those things.
I guess I'm the odd man out thinking these are more annoying and cumbersome than the normal flat holders.

For me space is a premium and I honestly don't get why so many guys complain about the folding plastic holders, I've always thought they work reasonably well.
I want to point out as well that 'Fireball Tool' makes the vast majority of their stuff in China, especially the stuff they really want people to buy.

The video makers did not turn you onto other video makers. UA-cam algorithms did. Because I followed the same path of videos because they showed up in my feed. Which of course, inevitably it led me to YOUR videos. Good content.
Unless the content makers mention each other in their videos, which these guys do.
These various guys he talked about have mentioned each other in their videos, and some have done collaboration projects. It’s not always the big bad algorithm.
