This is my version of the song from "Ronja Rövardotter / Ronia the robbers daugther" written by our most loved Swedish writer, Astrid Lindgren , whose books have been read all over the world. This song from the movie has always been very dear to me.
For a long time now I wanted to make my own version of it, and make some small changes in the melody. What do you think? :)
I really hope you will enjoy my version of this song!
The Swedish lyrics and translation can be found both further down here in the description, or in the subtitles of the video.
Text: Astrid Lindgren
Original song/music by: Björn Isfält
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WATCHING AND LISTENING! ♥
Lyrics of the text and translation can be found in the comments :)
Quick fact:
No one Searched for her
But are glad we found her
Im subbed to her. You should too.
I think I first found her tree sap video in my feed. Fell in love with her vibe and energy. Nothing else gives the same feeling that her videos do.
I searched for her. My brother showed me her video on kulning, and I was very interested as I myself am Swedish and want more about our traditions.
Very true
I searched lol
wanna inform the viewers on here that this lullaby is still being sung for our swedish children at night. I grew up hearing my mom sing it and now I sing it to my son. she truly capture the magic.
Fantastic
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing. I sit with my eyes closed and imagine you all sitting with your elders (or vice versa) for a lullaby on your homes.
My grandmother always sang this lullaby to me and my sister at the night. She died a few months ago and whenever i sing this it is like a tribute to her
Thanks for sharing, and for passing this beautiful song to your child/children.
People who have never heard a wolf howl in the forest in winter will sadly never know what a magical moment it really is.
So true.
And terrifying... the ancestors hear it through us.
Magical, if you have solid shelter. If you're sleeping in a tent, less magical and more terrifying.
I have unfortunately never heard a wolf howel in the forest in my life yet
I had a pack of wolfs travel along me while I was mushing 6 years ago they we’re actually so close I could touch them if I wanted to I’ve always had a some what wolf guid the wolf on the hill 4 years ago the wolf walking behind me when I was sleeping in -45 with my one dog
Hi, my family is from Sri Lanka. One day, this song popped up while we were trying to feed lunch to my 8-month-old son. Something unexpected happened: my baby ate without a problem. I thought it was because of the wolf in the video, but I soon realized he liked the song. Not just wolves; every night before going to sleep, we play this song for him, and sometimes he falls asleep to it.
Happy to hear that. Love to Sri Lanka from Sweden 🇸🇪
This is what I love about the internet and one of the few things that makes it feel worth it despite all the harm it causes. Someone from Sri Lanka would have NEVER heard a lullaby from northern Sweden before. I think its beautiful how we can connect from so far away now.

@Rose Murphy Mine was seriously just a little suggestion. I didn't mean to sound unfriendly or dramatic. Sorry. Have a nice day :)
I also sang it for my daughter in german (and idas Summer Song) now shes 11 and sing it with me for her little sister - they are so cute
my sister passed a year ago. very healing song. i struggle with grief. she was my best friend, beautiful soul.
Yes it is, my young Swedish mother use to sing that to me before my father took me travelling with him.
Wow even more beautiful now that I know what its about. Thank you
❤
This was the last song I played to my Mother as She lay dying. I don't know if She could hear it but I hope it brought her some peace. See you soon Mum.
❤❤❤
For what its worth, hearing is the last of our senses to go when on our death bed…..I believe she heard it
🤍🪶🌟❣
There are some studies that even with lack of consciousness, a person can still hear and recognize sounds at his surroundings, there is a story of a medic that described one of the most beautiful experiences on field, a patient in bad shape, being transported in ambulance, pulse was fast, patient shaking and sweating, but a paramedic grabbed the hand of the patient and told him, “don’t worry, you are not alone, we are with you” then the pulse got stable, and he stoped shaking and sweating.
So I’m very sure, your mother heard the song, may her soul Rest In Peace. So sorry for your loss

This song, this lullaby
It satiates a longing I’ve had for a long time hidden. For peace, for rest, for respite among the seas around filled with the pain of others I take on in order for life to flourish. And sadly I have went too far, I have lost parts of myself, and I cannot truly be whole anymore without what I’ve given. This, however, puts the discordance and unrest to a state where it no longer hurts.
Thank you Jonna, you have put me and other parts of my existence to peace for the time being until it’s called upon again.

I love falling asleep to the sounds of nature and wolves
As a Swede, my take on this song is that of a strong, fearless, protective but humble Viking mother and woman. She sternly tells the hungry wolf to not come closer, and fiercely states that the hungry wolf will never ever be able to take her child (ungen min får du aldrig). But she also understands the animal is cold and sleepless and tosses him a pigs tail as a gesture of good will.
Very reminiscent of Swedish culture with powerful and strong women, and a society that is small and might fear other countries and cultures, but humble enough to not act aggressively and instead lead with an understanding.
Also, this song originates from the movie Ronja Rövardotter, whose Viking mother is portrayed as a strong, sensitive, smart and understanding woman while her brute husband only sulks, and acts in an immature manner. (Edited to keep this from being a man vs woman argument)

Reason 85% of the earth can not see the winterway and all its stars are due to lightning from cities and towns. Most of the lights from sources are going upwards. There are solution to this where the equipment block lights from going up, but there is a reason they dont want us humans to see the clear sky. I just wish the entire humanity would wake up soon and realize we are nothing but slaves. A few people controll this world, we the many could make this a paradise. But fear is what is stopping you all. Only thing to do is to kill all the leaders, and the police that will protect them. I know its sad but there are no other way. It will just get worse.

The wolf is howling in the woods of the night
He want’s to, but cannot sleep
Hunger is tearing his wolven belly
And in his lair it’s oh so cold
Oh wolf, oh wolf, do not come near
You’ll never get hold of my child
Oh wolf, oh wolf, do not come near
You’ll never get hold of my child...
The wolf is howling in the night’s woods,
is howling, by hunger and sorrow
But I shall give him, the tail of a pig
Because such fits, in the belly of wolves
Oh wolf, oh wolf, do not come near
You’ll never get hold of my child
Oh wolf, oh wolf, do not come near
You’ll never get hold of my child...

To all the people complaining that there are already subtitles:
Yeah I know, but they are very “literal” and well, sounds unnatural. I fixed the placing of the words and grammar a bit to make the English version easier and more pleasant to read. The meaning of the lyrics are still the same, just modified a little from Swedish to English grammar.

I suppose that Mongols did not suceed in romanticizing the Steppe life in the same way as the Europeans did.
@@adityanawani8134 do we constantly need to compare everythin? Shit
God, I really really feel this song. I use it to sleep. It's so deep and real, I can't explain it very well. I am part of it. I'm from Argentina, and it makes me so good to hear it in Patagonia Winter 🤩
I find this song so therapeutic doesn't make me sleep but it relaxes me and keeps me calm I've never come across anything that's had this type of effect thank you so much 🖤
Usually, I tell myself that there is no such thing as perfection, but...
❤️🙏
I just get this weird feeling while I listen to this. Like i’m not in the right place.. at the right time... I just feel like i’m not HOME. I don’t know how to explain it...
yOUR NOT THE ONLY ONE.
You explained perfectly
Sehnsucht.
"In anxiety one feels uncanny. Here the particular indefiniteness of that which Dasein finds itself alongside in anxiety, comes proximally to expression: the "nothing and nowhere". But here "uncanniness" also means "not-being-at home." [das Nicht-zuhause-sien]. In our first indication of the phenomenal character of Dasein's basic state and in our clarification of the existential meaning of "Being-in" as distinguished from the categorical signification of 'insideness'. Being-in was defined as "residing alongside . . .", "Being-familiar with . . ." This character of Being-in was then brought to view more concretely through the everyday publicness of "they", which brings tranquilize self-assurance -- 'Being-at-home', with all its obviousness -- into the average everydayness of Dasein. On the other hand, as Dasein falls, anxiety brings it back from the absorption in the 'world'. Everyday familiarity collapses. Dasein has been individualized, the individualized as Being-in-the-world. Being-in enters into the existential 'mode' of the "not-at-home". Nothing else is meant by our talk about 'uncanniness'." (House of leaves, Mark Z. Daneklewski, p25)
Saaaame.
I have come here 3 years later to say that this song has been my light during dark times, all these years. I put this on loop and keep listening to it, as sadness and heartbreak washes me over. With heavy heart, I pass the afternoons and evenings, listening to this song on loop.
This song truly transcends cultures. It is the song in the heart of every loving parent and dedicated caregiver.
Not gonna lie
Whenever I watch Jonna Jinton's videos
I experience the feeling of Peace and Tranquility
The mountains are calling, I must go back.
The fascist lockdown made me so willing to grab my bags and retreat into to my Balkan mountains. Hard to not be sick of humanity anymore. If only I had few k to sustain my life there. Clearly I cant hunt shite🤣
Say hello to the Duergar and Svartalfar when you get there.
Beautiful!!!
We must go Mr frodo.... 🤣😂
On the plus side the dogs like the idea.
*thumbs up*
I'm Danish and grew up with this song and I still sing it to my nieces, and it works like a charm!
When my service dog Loki, died I found this song. Brings me piece even after the years have gone by.
They are already attacked you by covid 19
I have watched this videos many times and I never get tired of hearing it!!
I live in a quite big city and I almost cried when I realized how long I haven’t seen stars on a night sky. Incredible song. I wish I lived in a place like this.
Karolina Niewczas once I got away from the city and glow of it, the night stars are amazing.
i hope you can free yourself
Let's go on a roadtrip. I need to see the sky too
This is the reason why i never would lived in the city... nature is so much more beautiful then the city lights... especial the stars in the sky. You feel so tiny while you watching them....
Me too...they were there...always there.. and now we cant be with them...
A 100 years ago, kids during bedtime: "Mum please sing me the wolf song"
Actually, it was made for the Ronja Rövardotter movie, based on the book written by Astrid Lindgren. The movie was made in 1984. I do still love the song though. Source: www.astridlindgren.com/sv/verken/sangerna/vargsangen

This song makes me feel weird. Like I'm not truly home right now in my home. Like I should be there, that that's my home. I feel like a tug or a pull in my chest that's telling me I need to go home. But I don't understand it, I've always connected with animals especially wolves. But this song makes me feel like my family is there in the snow and I'm supposed to be there too. I don't know how to explain it, but I feel empty not being there like I'm not home till I'm there.
I feel such a similar feeling. I feel the need to be in the beautiful woods, under the stars, away from madness. Like I’ll never feel at home until I make it there.
You feel the pull of the wild. I feel it too.
Ehm... this song has no love for wolves.
Yes beautiful places in the wild always feel like home to me.
In the wild, in nature, we are closer to God‘s creation. Our souls long for home. Our home is with God. Nature reminds us of that.
such a beautiful melody. it has the power to transport anyone who hears it.
I feel connected to spirit this song reminds me of our connection.thank you Jonna for sharing the beauty of your spirit through song 🌹
This seems to make me remember something forgotten long ago.
I've been looking for a way to describe this feeling. You worded it perfectly. Skol brother
Exactly xox
Yesssss
Yes it's like something in the genes that is there but not nurtured this brings it out and gets you thinking
Your connection to nature. Our origin. Living in crowded noisy cities is stressful for humans and we are not connected.
My daughter's favorite bed time song. For many years she asked me every night to sing it for her. She is a teenager now and doesn't ask any more which makes me sometimes sad. Now you sing it for me. Thank you.
By the way, I love all songs from this film 💕
pegapage ask if she still listens on her own ?
awwh. Maybe your daughter will ask you some time again for you to sing it to her. :) I'm turning 30 this year and this daughter let her mother tuck her in not long ago, like she did so many times growing up.

The only person I know on youtube who lives like in a fairytale. I'm done with the city life, I wanna try living like this 🥺
Me too
I have lived in the countryside all my life its great
Its not easy living like this compared to the city, you have to constantly work to maintain survival. Definitely a fulfilling lifestyle though

My 3 year old daughter falls to sleep to this song, every night. She has had trouble earlier, but after playing this she has no problems sleeping. Thank you Jonna
Bet she was a viking in a past life
Try Suo Gun as well. My kids are 18 and 16 and still listen to it along with several other welsh, nordic, celtic, and scottish music to go to sleep. fixed for spelling
@@shadowstarofdyingsuns8687 yeah she's got viking blood running in her veins

I hope your little girl doesn't wake up with an urge to raid East Anglia's villages and monasteries. LoL. Cherish each moment and make many memories because they grow up fast
it's such a good sound, so peaceful and also plaintive. perhaps when i'm just hearing this sound and your voice, it has healed children in my soul. so respect, thank you very much.
1:11 Twice I've played this to my daughter and twice she's fell fast asleep in my arms❤
Wolves have no idea how much we admire them. Iconic animals. Beautiful, strong, brave, wild at heart, powerful and tenacious to the limit. All the things humans crave to be.
You forgot vicious
We used to be like that. But then we became civilised.
And im not saying that's in itself a bad thing. But we still have the wolf inside us from those days and it still craves for nature's freedom.
Ours is a divided nature of wolf and man.
@@helamantait9419 and selfish

@@archravenineteenseventeen we didn't reduce them, we created lifelong companions that have helped us achieve far greater accomplishments. They've now become our therapeutic and neurological relief. They will always be man's best friend.
