The only reason he really gets his life together, actually, is because of her. Well, and the main character. I don't assume she does, but I'm from Denmark. Something like that here would most likely just be a "forening" (a kinda non-profit,usually based on volunteering) or just people doing stuff together, like a reading group, common cooking and eating for singles, or something like that. I think Drmetrius will never be a good step father to Sebastian. There is nooo dialog associated to Seb which, to me, make me believe he never thinks about him, which is sad! Also, I think Linus is a better father figure to Leo then Demetrius ever was to Seb 🤣🤣🤣
Only two things I disagree with you is Kents involvement in his sons life and why Sam is working part time. Kent was gone for realy long time, but "realy long time" was more 3-4 years than 10+ years and we can't pretend he just apear after war and judge his parenting like there was nothing before. It's like judging someones dedication to their work based only on month when they had na accident and spend couple of weeks in hospital. We didn't see Kent before he was send to war, but Vincent remember his father playing with him when he was younger. I can't find it now, but i'm pretty sure Sam also have dialog about son-father trips to Calico Desert or something like that. Those lines suggest Kent was spending time with his childrens before, he was involved. And time he's missing is "only" some years, still pretty long time, but not childs entire livetimes. So what he have to do right now is not build relationship with his childrens but rebuild it after some live changes. About Sam hepling financialy, he is not a teeneger who have to work in weekends to support his family. He is young adult who still live with parents and have a lot of expensive hobbies. Expecting him to have his own money for his hobbies or buy groceries from time to time sounds pretty reasonable for me.
Yeah, I mention that Vincent and Sam absolutely adore him and respect him and love him, that didn't come from his time after the war, but before. I thought that that was implied but I should have included that
I think that I had participated in your poll. I picked Kent as the best father because he was away for Year 1 to fight a war that his country may/may not have signed up for just to protect his family, friends, and community. I think that we all have that one family member who fought in a war to protect us in real life. My great-grandfather was a veteran who later got mental disorders as a side effect for his sacrifice to protect my family. Our military sacrifices their life and mental health for their country and home. So that is why I picked Kent, for he was willing to put his life on the line for his sons to grow up in a safe community.
Great Video but it makes me wonder how each of the bachelors and Bachelorettes would be as parents (i know there can be parents but thare as involved in those children's lifes as much as Demetrius is involved with Sebastion)
This would be a great video, because based on how many hearts they lose when you tell them "Not now" to kids, it's telling which ones really want to be parents or not
I still think Demetrius and Sebastian's relationship dynamic comes from Sebastian not willing to open up to him and Demetrius kinda just respecting his space or at least not overdoing in trying to reach him (Even Robin that he obviously likes more than Demetrius has a hard time reaching out). We know Seb can be a bit imature in a lot of moments, so I wouldn't be so sure since we only have his side of the story. Also, from what you said about Seb comparing us to Demetrius after he has low hearts when married, it isn't very clear if it's meant to mean that Demetrius (and in this case, us too) is being rude or something, or if Sebastian just wants to be left alone without anyone talking to him, meaning us just trying to talk to him would make us sound like Demetrius. The only point brought here that has more substance to me is the "snow goon" dialogue. But even then, we know Seb also has this sorta of one sided grudge/annoyance with Maru, so it gets complicated again... (And btw if we're dragging Demetrius for that, we should probably have the same energy or more towards Robin throwing out Seb's comic book collection) At least to me, Demetrius doesn't seem like a bad dad as in "I'm purposely ignoring my child", he does have a book about being a step dad after all. He isn't perfect of course, but no one on the valley is, specially on Seb's household. Anyways, I'm just bringing another point of view bc I think a lot of people usually judge Demetrius too fast and without much nuance, making Seb the "poor victim who needs to be saved" most of the time.
Yeah I actually also have like a 35 minute podcast episode solely on defending a lot of things that people dislike about Demetrius. It's hard to give him grace concerning him and Sebastian because we never saw the dynamic when he was a kid. I think Demetrius did put in effort, at one point, based on that book he has, but it obviously didn't stick.
Pierre is like him or hate him character. He has his flaws and a lot of flaws but is genuinely trying his best. While he is a greedy man, he is still a relatively caring one.
I've seen a lot of pro and anti Demetrius comments here that make valid points: only Sebastian's account of things, him being a good parent to Maru, him having a book on how to be a good stepdad, Sebastian could be tactically pushing Maru and Demetrius away due to immaturity, etc... all of that makes sense. But I think the most powerful point to consider is that from the evidence around the house, there is an implication that robin and demetrius didn't get married recently. if the have been married for (my assumption) 7 years-ish. then I think that any excuses for Demetrius just having difficulty navigating the situation kind of become void. the first 3-4 years? sure. it's an awkward situation for everyone to merge two families into one. However, the situation escalated to this point due to Demetrius neglect. Sebastian strained relationship with Maru wouldn't have happened if Demetrius acknowledge his excessive favoritism towards her, Maru actively wishes they were closer, it's implied the feeling is mutual on Sebastian's part (by him pointing all of the anger at Demetrius, not Maru. If he hated Maru he would've just said so, the guy doesn't mince words (he said "he thinks Maru hates him" not "I hate Maru" that is an important distinction). If Demetrius is just giving Sebastian space then he could've mentioned something about it to the player! the way all other parents in the valley do? But he never even acknowledges him!!! Of course, this is also giant hit on Robin's parenting as well, and I say this even though I like her. She should've done something to mitigate the damage happening, but she seems oblivious to the situation.
@@INANNAISHERE 100% agreed. He's been around since Maru was born, presumably, so what, 20+ years? It's crazy that Demetrius and Sebastian are barely on speaking terms
My defense of Demetrius comes from one line of dialogue from Sebastian, where he - unprompted, mind you - trash talks Maru, implying that her kindness is just an "attention-grabbing scam". Now, that is an AWFUL thing to say about someone, especially your little sister, and it's even sadder when you consider Maru's line about Sebastian, about how she wishes they were closer, but she doesn't think he likes her (devastating: he doesn't!). This really puts in perspective his attitude towards Demetrius; Sebastian, to me, takes everything that comes from Maru and Demetrius in bad faith, like he already assumes that they hate him. We've also seen Demetrius' unique way of thinking, so my interpretation of the snowgoon scene is that Demetrius probably got nerdy about snowman structure and sturdiness and that Sebastian trashed the thing and left before Demetrius told him how to build a new one. Which is still very hurtful, but like in the bed scene, I don't think Demetrius had cruel intentions. This isn't to say Demetrius was a great dad to Sebastian, but to me, Sebastian might have rejected him from the get go, and Demetrius couldn't connect with him. It's terrible that he stopped trying, but I do think he tried; there's this book about stepfather guidelines in his and Robin's room after all. Demetrius isn't a great dad to Sebastian, but he's not the demon people make him out to be. And Sebastian's contempt for his little sister tells us that he probably never gave Demetrius much of a chance anyway, AND that he might be exagerating a bit when talking about his ugly duckling status. I'm saying this because I'm tired of people talking about Demetrius like he's an actual demon ^^' and I'm pretty sure people are extra critical of him because of how popular Sebastian is as a bachelor, which is unfair
Something to consider is that while Pierre seems to be ignoring Abigail's interest in the Occult and Adventuring, it is speculated that Caroline had an afair with the Wizard and Abigail is not Pierre's biological daughter. Despite that he tries his best to take care of her and imprint the importance of family values, even if Abigail doesn't fully see it like that. Imagine if there are coincidences that your wife cheated on you, and your child is more akin to a man that was in the potential affair. I think Pierre is intentionally steering her away from that because not only is she safer, but it helps him cope with the possibility Caroline actually did cheat. As for Kent, he was a prisoner of war and his struggle to readjust to life was made perfectly clear here. Now, for Demetrius, it's clear that, to some extent he's trying to connect with Sebastion. However the issue is he favors Maru for being his actual child, and we don't really know how long Robin and him were together. If it was recently then it makes sense that there would be issues. He raised Maru but not Sebastion, and they're both technically nearly adults now, not kids. Add onto the fact that Demetrius is a very logical person, to the point he criticized a bed for having 4 posts that seemed useless, clarified Tomatoes as a fruit, (which he is right) over things like apples, bannanas and other, it's clear he is too scientifically focused. Compare that to Sebastion, who is technical but not scientific. He plays Pool at the saloon, he is interested in fantasy aspects with D&D elements, works hard and wants to leave Stardew Valley and is genuinely more of a loner. So in that regard, Demetrius can't connect with his "son" and thus favors Maru, which further alienates Sebastion, which fuels the fire. For best and worst dad, Demetrius takes it, but Pierre and Kent are both up there, the issue being that Kent is trying to readjust, Pierre is balancing duties and his store to fully try to adjust and Demetrius doesn't try at all.
wonder if education is free in Stardew Valley - I'm from Denmark, so I just assumed it was, just like you assume that it's not, but you are very likely to actually know whether education is free or not
It sucks that when you polled I think people didn't vote for Pierre because they hate him & not as his qualities as a father I bet Kent mostly won because people saw Pierre & Demetrias & said I don't like them so Kent.

I thought that that was implied but I should have included that
@sodorart och, I was to focused on "long time" part an thought You mean adoration in way people respect and adore heros and war veterans
Not me assuming that the five point system for the stardrops would be based on the actual points on the stardrop 🤣
This would be a great video, because based on how many hearts they lose when you tell them "Not now" to kids, it's telling which ones really want to be parents or not
@@sodorart Do the candidates have varying loss of relationship points if you refuse kids? If so, that's a pretty interesting detail.
(And btw if we're dragging Demetrius for that, we should probably have the same energy or more towards Robin throwing out Seb's comic book collection)
At least to me, Demetrius doesn't seem like a bad dad as in "I'm purposely ignoring my child", he does have a book about being a step dad after all.
Kent is best father
Pierre is actually a good guy. I hate how he's so hated.
I am but a simple Pierre defender
Pierre is like him or hate him character. He has his flaws and a lot of flaws but is genuinely trying his best. While he is a greedy man, he is still a relatively caring one.
you should of added the wizard to the poll instead of george 😂

I always though Jodi income would be military pension for spouses 🤔
For sure, she's definitely getting some kind of income from Kent being a solider
For best and worst dad, Demetrius takes it, but Pierre and Kent are both up there, the issue being that Kent is trying to readjust, Pierre is balancing duties and his store to fully try to adjust and Demetrius doesn't try at all.
wonder if education is free in Stardew Valley - I'm from Denmark, so I just assumed it was, just like you assume that it's not, but you are very likely to actually know whether education is free or not
Since penny is technically a private tutor i think she gets paid.

Have I missed anything or have you not stopped streaming any times lately?
I skipped the past 2 streams cuz I was busy editing videos and busy with life stuff :D
@sodorart ah nice. Looking forward to the next time then :)
It sucks that when you polled I think people didn't vote for Pierre because they hate him & not as his qualities as a father I bet Kent mostly won because people saw Pierre & Demetrias & said I don't like them so Kent.
100%, a lot of polls come down to a popularity contest, so I def wanted to make a video about this !
@@sodorart Yeah!
Just saying: Demitrus is actually ABUSIVE to Sebastian, by pretending he's not there at all!
