Hydra The Revenge POV 5K B&M Floorless Coaster Dorney Park Allentown, PA

#Hydra is a very unique #floorlesscoaster made my #Bolligerandmabillard . Coming off a jojo roll right out of the station this ride will whip you through 6 inversions overlooking ‪@DorneyParkPR‬ ‘s lake and taking you through the most diverse floorless layout we’ve seen yet! Just some lore for this coaster know You probably already know it it’s called Hydra the revenge because this used to be the site of the Hercules wooden coaster that was in that spot before so it’s like the hydra got it revenge on Hercules

Sucks Dorney Park isn't going to get any new coasters anytime soon. They were supposed to get a shuttle coaster built by the Gravity Group which was supposed to replace Possessed last year but the plans were scrapped because of COVID.
UPDATE: so this is me 11 months after writing that comment. and apparently dorney Park is going to get a B&M dive which is going to be 150 ft tall. talk about speaking way too soon 😂

I mean. Hydra never gets much hate out there. Yea its not the most impressive B&M out there and it is pretty weak, but. It has the most unique lay out of any B&M out there thats for sure

The inversion after the drop is an inclined dive loop. Some people question whether it's really an inversion or not but that's it.

Seems like it needs a refurbishment at least the trains and whatnot, I mean idk how "20 years" or not even has become "kinda old" especially for B&M's that are easily 5 years older and are either fine or not as shaky at this shows. And I hardly believe the jojo roll at the start, or how it seems as though they wanted to experiment making it almost like a hyper+floorless hybrid (one less inversion and I doubt many would disagree), and the drop style was mainly chosen because despite the Hercules hate (ridicoulous tbh guess it got canned right when people became weaker and more babyish about coasters) the drop was great. Sadly this doesn't follow the drop from Hercules-if it did, it'd be great. It's still a good B&M and a solid coaster. There's also the issue of if they are trying to save money by always using the same wheels, and if they are, that is why even some superman: ultimate flights (especially the original at SF over Georgia) are oddly shaky while not most of the time.

​@@oneandonlysound3453 it has a rattle in the front of the train during the valleys earlier in the layout. It's been like that for years now. The back isn't as bad and is IMO the best seat on Hydra.
I agree about the layout, having the drop follow Hercules' old drop down the hill would have been amazing and maybe putting the cobra roll or an immelman at the bottom to turn it around really would have put this coaster on the map more. Hercules had a unique layout but once the trims really hit on the drop, it lost so much momentum after the triple up that it just became very boring afterward and the roughness didn't help. I think a full refurbishment and redesign of the second half of the layout and then building Hydra through and around it for a dueling aspect would have been so cool. No doubt that would have been expensive though. If Dorney Park saw higher attendance like say Cedar Point or Kings Island, it may have warranted the cost of doing such a thing.
All in all, Hydra is a fun ride but I do think Talon and Steel Force are superior. I'm excited for Iron Menace this year too!
